L-aspartic acid zinc was synthesized by a rapid and convenient method in high yield under microwave conditions, and its single crystal structure was analyzed by X-ray diffraction. The structure unit of the title compound is [Zn(L-Asp)(H2O)2]·H2O, which is a bicyclo-complex forming a spiral linear polymer via coordination bonds. The spiral linear polymers are assembled as a three-dimensional supramolecule by intermolecular hydrogen bonds. The crystal belongs to the orthorhombic crystal system, P2(1)2(1)2(1) space group, a=0.7830(3) nm, b=0.9369(4) nm, c=11.599(5) nm, α=β=γ=90.00°, V=0.8509(6) nm3, Z=4, Dc=1.955 g/cm3, F(000)=512, μ=2.289. The toxicity of the title compound is lower than that of glutamic acid zinc and zinc sulfate. Keywords L-aspartic acid - zinc - microwave - supramolecule - toxicity

A series of 1,4-disubstitued thiosemicarbazides and their related heterocyclic compounds have been found to possess important biological activities[1]. Some thiosemicarbazides have been found to be useful as herbicides, insecticides and plant-growth regulators [1]. In view of these and in continuation of our earlier work on the synthesis and biological activity of thiosemicarbaides derivatives [2], we now report a convenient and efficient method for the preparation of thiosemicarbazides derivatives of 2-ethoxybenzoic acid under the condition of solid-liquid phase transfer catalysis using PEG-400 as the catalyst.

A number of 1,3-disubstituted derivatives are associated with various types of biological activity [1]. Some thioureas are useful as herbicides, insecticides and plant-growth regulators. Treatment of acylisothiocyanates, prepared from aroyl chlorides (0.0431mol) and potassium thiocyanate (33ml ofa 33% KSCN solution) using tetrabutylammonium bromides as a catalyst, were treated with aniline to yield the corresponding thioureas. However, probable hydrolysis of the aroyl chlorides led to decreased yields. The reaction of acid chlorides with different phenylthioureas or N1-acetyl-N3-arylthioureas requires high temperature and long reaction times. None of the other reported methods proved satisfactory. As a continuation of our earlier work on the biological activity of these compounds, [2-5] we now report acid chlorides are quantitatively converted to the acylisothiocyanates under solid-liquid phase-transfer conditions using PEG-400 as the catalyst. Treatment of these isothiocyanates with polymethylenediamines provides compounds 3 in high yields (scheme 1). The results were summarized in table 1.

Recently,exploiting a novel supramolecular fabrication pathway have drawn great *** this endeavor,we firstly designed and reported an original light-activated platform based on the internal-driven forces of macrocyclic host by hiring the pillar[5]arene as the host molecule(H)and phenazine derivatives acting as an energetic guest molecule(G).Surprisingly,after adding the H solution into G system,the intensive fluorescence emission of the G molecule rapidly decreased under the irradiation of the UV-light(254 nm)until absolutely ***,different from the traditional supramolecular host-guest interaction,the fluorescent emission of G molecule could be recovered after irradiating under the nature *** view of this interesting observations,the interaction mechanism was carefully investigated by a series of *** results suggested that the G molecule was easily threaded into the macrocyclic cavity(H)under the internal-driven forces induced by the UV-light irradiation,forming a 1:1 host-guest ***,taking advantage of this especial feature,the light-activated platform of host-guest complex was further applied for ink-free light-driven printing materials,exhibiting great potential in the real application.

A Highly Selective Colorimetric Sensor for Cu^2＋ Based on Phenolic Group Biscarbonyl Hydrazone

A novel copper selective sensor 2 based on hydrazide and salicylaldehyde has been designed and prepared. Sensor 2 behaves a single selectivity and sensitivity in the recognition for Cu2＋ over other metal ions such as Fe3＋, Hg2＋, Ag＋, Ca2＋, Zn2＋, Pb2＋, Cd2＋, Ni2＋, Co2＋, Cr3＋ and Mg2＋ in DMSO. The distinct color change and the rapid changement of fluorescence emission provide naked-eyes detection for Cu2＋. The UV-vis data indicate that 1 ： 2 stoichiometry complex is formed by sensor 2 and Cu2＋. The association constant Ks was 3.51 × 104 mol 1%. The detection limitation of Cu2＋ with the sensor 2 was 2.2 × 10.7 mol·L^-1. The sensing of Cu2＋ by this sensor was found to be reversible, with the Cu2＋-induced color being lost upon addition of EDTA.

A Turn-On Fluorescence Chemosensor for Cyanide in Aqueous Media Based on a Nucleophilic Addition Reaction

We synthesized a new cyanide （CN-） chemosensor CX based on a nucleophilic addition reaction prompted by cyanide ion, which could be used for highly selective and sensitive fluorescence turn-on detection of cyanide in aqueous media. The CX showed selective fluorescence recognition for CN-, the miscellaneous competitive anions （F-, Cl-, Br-, I-, AcO-, H2PO4, HSO4, ClO4, S2-, PO4^3-, CO3^2- and SCN- ） did not lead to any significant interference. The detection limit of the sensor towards CN is 1.15 × 10^-7 mol.L- 1. The sensor has been successfully applied to estimate the cyanide ion in seeds of cherries. Test strips based on CX were fabricated, which could be used as a convenient and efficient CN test kit to detect CN in aqueous solution for ＂in-the-field＂ measurement.

Sensitive and Selective Fluorescent and Colorimetric Sensor for Ag^＋ Based on the Supramolecular Self-Assembly in Semi-Water

Specific recognition of ultratrace levels of ions in semi-water using super-quicker methods is still a challenge for environmental monitoring. Herein we report a fluorescent and colormetric sensor （ZH） based on supramolecular self-assembly, whose structure was destroyed by the addition of ultratrace of silver ions. The process promoted either naked eye visible color changes or fluorescence intensity quenched in conjunction with a wide pH range. Systematic studies revealed very high selectivity （0.07 μmol/L） for silver ions, and other common cations, e.g., Hg^2＋, Cu^2＋, Cd^2＋, Pb^2＋ had nearly no influence on the sensing behavior. This sensor also served as a multiple use of component in sensing materials by addition of I^- into the mixture of ZH and Ag^＋（about 5 times）. What＇s more, ZH containing filter paper emerged distinct color and fluorescence changes upon exposure to silver （Ag^＋）, which could be used as a portable method to undertake field testing for Ag^＋.

Novel Fluorescent Chemosensor for Detection of F- Anions Based on a Single Functionalized Pillar[5]arene Iron（Ⅲ） Complex

Novel fluorescent chemosensor with good selectivity for F- anion was designed and synthesized. The sensor has a bearing on a single functionalized pillar[5]arene and Fe3＋ metal complex （PN-Fe）, which showed prominent fluorescent response for F anion over other common anions （CF, Br-, V, AcO-, HSO4-, H2PO4-, C104-, CN- and SCN-）. These results were evaluated by fluorescent method. The detection limit of PN-Fe to F was calculated to be 2.50 ×10^-7 mol/L. Moreover, the sensor PN-Fe^3＋ might serve as a recyclable component in sensing materials.

By applying an indirect strategy, a new copper （II） complex of a thiosemicarbazone L has been successfully developed as a colorimetric cbemosensor for the sensitive detection of mercury （II） ions. In the presence of copper （II） ions, the colorless so- lution of L became yellow; however, upon the addition of traces of mercury （II） ions, the yellow color faded to colorless im- mediately. Other ions, including Fe3＋, Ag＋, Ca2＋, Zn2＋, Pb2＋, Cd2＋, Ni2＋, Co2＋, Cr3＋ and Mg2＋ had a negligible influence on the probe behavior. The detection limits were 5.0×10^-6 M and 3.0×10^-7 M of Hg2＋ using the visual color changes and UV-vis changes respectively. Test strips based on Cu-L were fabricated, which could act as a convenient and efficient Hg2＋ test kits.
