An Effective Green Porous Structural Adhesive for Thermal Insulating,Flame-Retardant,and Smoke-Suppressant Expandable Polystyrene Foam

To develop an efficient way to overcome the contradiction among flame retardancy,smoke suppression,and thermal insulation in expanded polystyrene(EPS)foams,which are widely used insulation materials in buildings,a novel"green"porous bio-based flame-retard ant starch(FRS)coating was designed from starch modified with phytic acid(PA)that simultaneously acts as both a flame retardant and an *** porous FRS coating has open pores,which,in combination with the closed cells formed by EPS beads,create a hierarchically porous structure in FRS-EPS that results in superior thermal insulation with a lower thermal conductivity of 27.0 mW·(m·K)^(-1).The resultant FRS-EPS foam showed extremely low heat-release rates and smoke-production release,indicating excellent fire retardancy and smoke *** specific optical density was as low as 121,which was 80.6%lower than that of neat EPS,at *** FRS-EPS also exhibited self-extinguishing behavior in vertical burning tests and had a high limiting oxygen index(LOI)value of 35.5%.More interestingly,after being burnt with an alcohol lamp for 30 min,the top side temperature of the FRS-EPS remained at only 140℃with ignition,thereby exhibiting excellent fire *** analysis confirmed the intumescent action of FRS,which forms a compact phosphorus-rich hybrid barrier,and the phosphorus-containing compounds that formed in the gas phase contributed to the excellent flame retardancy and smoke suppression of *** novel porous biomass-based FRS system provides a promising strategy for fabricating polymer foams with excellent flame retardancy,smoke suppression,and thermal insulation.

Benefit of everolimus in treatment of an intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma patient with a PIK3CA mutation

Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma(ICC) is a relatively rare form of liver cancer with a poor prognosis. The therapeutic options for patients with advanced ICC are limited and usually ineffective. There is currently no approved targeted therapy for ICC, although accumulating evidence supports inhibition of the PI3K/Akt/m TOR signaling pathway as a promising therapeutic strategy in the treatment of ICC. Here, we report a patient with stage IV ICC harboring a PIK3 CA mutation who responded well to the m TOR inhibitor everolimus. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated shrinkage of the tumor and maintenance of a partial response for 6.5 mo after everolimus treatment as the best response. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first clinical case report in the literature of clinical benefit from everolimus treatment in an ICC patient with PIK3 CA mutation.

A novel dimer tungstovanadate, (H 3O) 4[VW 12 O 40 Na(H 2O) 4] 2, was hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized by single crystal X ray diffraction, IR spectra, TGA DSC thermal analysis and polarograpy. The yellowish crystal crystallized in the triclinic system, space group P1, a =1 464 5(3) nm, b =1 468 6(3) nm, c =1 411 1(3) nm, α=111 82(2)°, β=93 17(3)°, γ=117 47(3)°, V =2 210 6(8) nm 3, Z=1, D c=4 552 g·cm -3 , λ (Mo Kα )=0 071 073 nm, μ =31 402 mm -1 , F(000)=2 648, R =0 078 0. The title compound consists of two Keggin structure units linked together with two hydrated sodium cations to form a dimer with a porous structure with the pore dimension of 0 766 nm×0 778 5 nm. TIPS Is Not Associated with a Higher Risk of Developing HCC in Cirrhotic Patients:A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Background and Aims:The association between portalsystemic shunt and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)development in patients who have cirrhosis is still *** systematic review with meta-analysis was performed to systematically clarify the potential role of portal-systemic shunt in the development of ***:The PubMed,Embase,and Cochrane Library databases were searched for potentially eligible ***-analysis with random-effects model was performed to combine the incidence rates of HCC after portal-systemic ***,seven studies were *** the present review,we mainly focused on 859 patients(365 in the transjugular intrahepatic portal-systemic shunt(TIPS)group and 494 in the non-TIPS group)from five studies to analyze incidence rates after ***:At the end of follow-up,there were 66(18%,66/365)patients who developed HCC after TIPS intervention and 63(13%,63/494)patients who developed HCC after non-TIPS *** estimates with random-effects model did not demonstrate a significant increase of incidence of HCC after TIPS(risk ratio:1.37[confidence interval(CI):0.96 to 1.97];p=0.08)compared with non-TIPS *** analyses for those patients with transplanted liver also did not detect a significant difference between the TIPS group and non-TIPS group(risk ratio:1.10[CI:0.59 to 2.07];p=0.75).Conclusions:Current evidence suggests that portal-systemic shunt is not associated with a higher risk of HCC development in cirrhotic patients.

Development of re-crosslinkable dispersed particle gels for conformance improvement in extremely high-temperature reservoirs

Micro-scale and nano-scale dispersed gel particles(DPG)are capable of deep migration in oil reservoirs due to their deformability,viscoelasticity,and suitable particle ***,it has been widely studied and applied in reservoir conformance control in recent ***,for highly permeable channels,their plugging performance is still *** addition,conventional in situ cross-linked polymer gels(ISCPGs)have fast gelation time under extremely high-temperature conditions,which often causes problems such as difficulty in ***,a re-cross linkable dispersed particle gel(RDPG)system applied for conformance control in highly permeable channels of extremely high-temperature petroleum reservoirs was *** particle size distribution,gelation time,gel strength,injection performance,and perfo rmance strength in po rous media were investigated using a laser particle size meter,the Sydansk bottle test method,rheometer,and core displacement experiments,*** show that the RDPG suspension can be stable for more than 6 months at room temperature with storage modulus G’much lower than 10 *** can pass through the pore throat by elastic deformation effect and does not cause strong ***,it can undergo re-crosslinking reaction at 150℃to form a strong bulk *** gel strength G’of re-crosslinked RDPG can be as high as 69.3 Pa,which meets the strength requirement of conformance *** RDPG suspension has the properties of easy injection,and it also has strong plugging,and high-temperature resistance after re-crosslinked in the core,which can be a very promising material for conformance improvement in extremely high-temperature reservoirs.

A new species of the glass sponge genus Walteria(Hexactinellida:Lyssacinosida:Euplectellidae)from northwestern Pacific seamounts,providing a biogenic microhabitat in the deep sea

We report on a hexactinellid sponge new to science,Walteria demeterae ***.,which was collected from the northwestern Pacific seamounts at depths of 1271–1703 *** tubular and basiphytous body,extensive lateral processes,numerous oval lateral oscula which are irregularly situated in the body wall,the presence of microscleres with oxyoidal,discoidal and onychoidal outer ends,and the absence of anchorate discohexasters,indicate it belongs to the genus Walteria of family Euplectellidae,which is also supported by molecular phylogenetic evidence from 18 S,28 S,16 S rRNA and cytochrome c oxidase subunit I(COI)gene *** unique morphotype,which is structured by a thin and rigid framework of body wall and lateral processes consisting of diactins,characterizes it as a new *** aggregations of individuals of this new species coupled with their associated macrofauna in the Suda Seamount are reported,highlighting its functional significance in providing biogenic microhabitats in the deep sea.

Maximum Correntropy Kalman Filtering for Non-Gaussian Systems With State Saturations and Stochastic Nonlinearities

This paper tackles the maximum correntropy Kalman filtering problem for discrete time-varying non-Gaussian systems subject to state saturations and stochastic nonlinearities. The stochastic nonlinearities, which take the form of statemultiplicative noises, are introduced in systems to describe the phenomenon of nonlinear disturbances. To resist non-Gaussian noises, we consider a new performance index called maximum correntropy criterion(MCC) which describes the similarity between two stochastic variables. To enhance the “robustness” of the kernel parameter selection on the resultant filtering performance, the Cauchy kernel function is adopted to calculate the corresponding correntropy. The goal of this paper is to design a Kalman-type filter for the underlying systems via maximizing the correntropy between the system state and its estimate. By taking advantage of an upper bound on the one-step prediction error covariance, a modified MCC-based performance index is constructed. Subsequently, with the assistance of a fixed-point theorem, the filter gain is obtained by maximizing the proposed cost function. In addition, a sufficient condition is deduced to ensure the uniqueness of the fixed point. Finally, the validity of the filtering method is tested by simulating a numerical example.

Isovector Scalar Field Effects in Asymmetric Nuclear Matter

Density-dependent parametrization models of the nucleon-meson coupfing constants, including the isovector scalar δ-field, are applied to asymmetric nuclear matter. The nuclear equation of state （EOS） and the neutron star properties are studied in a relativistic Lagrangian density, using the relativistic mean field （RMF） hadron theory. It is known that the δ-field in the constant coupling scheme leads to a larger repulsion in dense neutron-rich matter and to a definite splitting of proton and neutron effective masses, finally influences the stability of the neutron stars. We use density-dependent models of the nucleon-meson couplings to study the properties of neutron star matter and to reexamine the （^-field effects in asymmetric nuclear matter. Our calculation shows that the stability conditions of the neutron star matter can be improved in presence of the δ-meson in the density-dependent models of the coupling constants. The EOS of nuclear matter strongly depends on the density dependence of the interactions.
