Performance-based fractal fracture model for complex fracture network simulation

The paper presents a novel hydraulic fracturing model for the characterization and simulation of the complex fracture network in shale gas reservoirs. We go beyond the existing method that uses planar or orthogonal conjugate fractures for representing the ＇＇complexity＇＇ of the network. Bifurcation of fractures is performed utilizing the Lindenmayer system based on fractal geometry to describe the fracture propagation pattern, density and network connectivity. Four controlling parameters are proposed to describe the details of complex fractures and stimulated reservoir volume（SRV）. The results show that due to the multilevel feature of fractal fractures, the model could provide a simple method for contributing reservoir volume calibration. The primary-and second-stage fracture networks across the overall SRV are the main contributions to the production, while the induced fracture network just contributes another 20% in the late producing period. We also conduct simulation with respect to different refracturing cases and find that increasing the complexity of the fracture network provides better performance than only enhancing the fracture conductivity.

NiMZn/C@melamine sponge-derived carbon(MSDC)composites(M=Co,Fe,and Mn)were prepared by a vacuum pump-ing solution method followed by carbonization.A large number of carbon nanotubes(CNTs)homogeneously attached to the surfaces of the three-dimensional cross-linked of the sponge-derived carbon in the NiCoZn/C@MSDC composite,and CNTs were detected in the NiFeZn/C@MSDC and NiMnZn/C@MSDC ***_(3)ZnC_(0.7),Ni_(3)Fe,and MnO in-situ formed in the NiFeZn/C@MSDC and NiMnZn/C@MSDC *** CNTs in the NiCoZn/C@MSDC composite efficiently modulated its complex ***,the composite exhibited the best performance among the composites,with the minimum reflection loss(RL_(min))of-33.1 dB at 18 GHz and thickness of 1.4 *** bandwidth for RL of≤-10 dB was up to 5.04 GHz at the thickness of 1.7 mm and loading of 25wt%.The op-timized impedance matching,enhanced interfacial and dipole polarization,remarkable conduction loss,and multiple reflections and scat-tering of the incident microwaves improved the microwave absorption *** effects of Co,Ni,and Fe on the phase and mor-phology provided an alternative way for developing highly efficient and broadband microwave absorbers.

In-situ Corrosion Characterization of API X80 Steel and Its Corresponding HAZ Microstructures in an Acidic Environment

during heat treatment processing, microstructures of heat affected zone （HAZ） were formed in X80 pipe- line steel. After observation by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microsco- py, microstructure of the as-received X80 steel was confirmed to be acicular ferrite, while the microstructures of quenched, normalized and annealed X80 steels were lath bainite, granular ferrite and quasi-polygonal ferrite, respec- tively. After immersion in the simulated acidic soil solution for 48 h, corrosion rates of these four steels were deter- mined by mass loss measurements and corrosion products were examined by Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photoe lectron spectroscopy. Scanning vibrating electrode technique was used to characterize the micro-galvanic corrosion be- haviors of the synthetic bimetallic electrodes which were formed by coupling each of the simulated HAZ microstruc- tures with the as-received steel in direct physical and electric contact. It is demonstrated that the as-received steel acts as cathode in the as-received/quenched and as-received/normalized couples, while the annealed steel acts as cathode when coupling with the as received steel. The distinction of current density between the galvanic couples reduces with prolonging the immersion time.

Thermomechanical experiments were carried out to reproduce the hot stamping process and to investigate the effects of process parameters on the microstructure and mechanical properties of stamped parts. The process parameters, such as austenitizing temperature, soaking time, initial deformation temperature and cooling rate, are studied. The resulting microstructures of specimens were observed and analyzed. To evaluate the mechanical properties of specimens, tensile and hardness tests were also performed at room temperature. The op-timum parameters to achieve the highest tensile strength and the desired microstructure were acquired by comparing and analyzing the results. It is indicated that hot deformation changes the transformation characteristics of 22MnB5 steel. Austenite deformation promotes the austen-ite-to-ferrite transformation and elevates the critical cooling rate to induce a fully martensitic transformation.

Coseismic landslides and subsequent mobilization of sediment greatly aggravated the landscape evolution and river sedimentation after the Wenchuan *** debris-flow alluvial fan and river morphological index was combined to describe quantitatively the effects of debris-flow sediment on the river characteristics in Longmen *** section of the Min River from the urban area of the Wenchuan county to the epicenter,the Yingxiu town in this county,was selected as the study *** identified 27 river-blocking debrisflows(5 partial-,7 semi-,7 over semi-,and 5 fullyblocking degrees)in the study area via remote sensing interpretation and field *** on this,the response of river longitudinal profile and curvature to debris-flow sediment was qualitatively and quantitatively *** results show that the channel gradient has decreased due to debris-flow aggradation,while two marked peaks in the river steepness index(ksn,represents the relative steepness degree of the channel)changed from 585 m0.9 to 732 m0.9 in zone 1,from 362 m0.9 to 513 m0.9 in zone ***,the main channel has undergone substantial lateral migration with channel width decreased and river curvature *** temporal and spatial variation between river morphological characteristics and debris-flow sediments in short-term provides insights into the internal dynamic role of mass wasting processes in river morphology,which could be served as useful information for natural hazards management to prevent the river from being blocked by episodically debris flows after the earthquake.
