Si/TiO_(2) carbon fiber core encapsulated in hierarchical multiple MXene@Co-MoS_(2) shells for constructing a free-standing anode of lithium storage

Silicon-based(Si-based) materials offer more possibilities for generating new portable electronic devices due to their high specific capacities. However, their inferior electrical conductivity and volume expansion during cycling seriously limit their development. The optimum solution is to select specific materials to establish an exceptionally conductive and volume buffer structure,which can assist Si materials in developing their excellent lithium storage properties. In this study, Si particles were confined in TiO_(2)carbon fibers(TiO_(2)CFs) via electrospinning, after which they were encapsulated with MXene and Co-MoS_(2)(CMS) nanosheets to fabricate hierarchical ST-2@MXene@CMS films. TiO_(2)CF, MXene and CMS were employed to establish a coherent conductive network with one-, two-and three-dimensional electronic pathways to permit the unimpeded flow of electrons inside the electrode material. TiO_(2)CF, MXene and CMS acted precisely as multilayered buffers to ameliorate the volume change of Si particles during cycling. In addition, the CMS nanosheets were involved in lithium storage, contributing to the final electrochemical performance. Ultimately, the ST-2@MXene@CMS films served as free-standing electrodes, avoiding the impact of inactive interfaces on the electrochemical performance and fulfilling the lightweight requirement for new energy storage devices.

Electrostatically connected nanoarchitected electrocatalytic films for boosted water splitting

Active sites of two-dimensional(2D)electrocatalysts are often partially blocked owing to their inevitable stacking and hydrophobic polymeric binders in macroscale electrodes,therefore impeding their applications in efficient ***,using layered double hydroxide(LDH)nanosheets as a model 2D electrocatalyst,we demonstrate that their performance toward water splitting can be boosted when they are electrostatically assembled into an organized structure pillared by hydrophilic polyelectrolytes or nanoparticles in a layer-by-layer(LbL)*** particular,their mass activity on a planar electrode can be as large as 2.267 mA·μg^(-1) toward oxygen evolution reaction(OER),when NiFe-LDH nanosheets are electrostatically connected by poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate)(PSS),while drop-casted NiFe-LDH nanosheets only have a mass activity of 0.116 mA·μg^(-1).In addition,these homogeneous NiFe-LDH nanofilms can be easily deposited on three-dimensional(3D)surfaces with high areas,such as carbon cloths,to serve as practical electrodes with overpotentials of 328 mV at a current density of 100 mA·cm^(-2),and stability for 40 ***,Pt nanoparticles can be LbL assembled with NiFe-LDH as bifunctional electrodes for synergistically boosted oxygen and hydrogen evolution reactions(HER),leading to successful overall water splitting powered by a 1.5 V *** study heralds the spatial control of 2D nanomaterials in nanoscale precision as an efficient strategy for the design of advanced electrocatalysts.

With the swift advancement of renewable energy and escalating demands for energy storage,potassium-ion batteries（PIBs） are increasingly recognized as a potent energy storage techn *** carbon anode materials have been utilized for PIBs anodes owing to their superior K+storage capacity,outstanding cycling performance,elevated capacity,and ***,it is imperative to explore and improve carbon anode *** review meticulously encapsulates the recent scholarly advancements in carbon anode materials for *** elucidates the operational mechanisms of carbon anode for PIBs,provides a synopsis of diverse carbon materials,and deliberates on the prevalent challenges,including cycling stability and potassium-ion diffusion *** soft and hard carbon augmented potassiumion capacities,the expansive surface areas coupled with the large ionic radius of K+pose substantial challenges to their structural design and ***,this review outlines strategic approaches to the design of carbon materials for excellent potassium storage performance,including the expansion of interlayer spacing,modification of morphology,heteroatom doping,structural defect regulation,incorporation of porous structures,and development of carbon-carbon ***,the challenges and prospective solutions of carbon anode materials for PIBs with superior energy density and cycling stability were proposed,providing a reasonable guidance for regulation design of carbon materials.

Revealing the microstructures of metal halide perovskite thin films via advancedtransmission electron microscopy

Metal halide perovskites (MHPs) are excellent semiconductors that have led to breakthroughs in applications in thinfilmsolar cells, detectors, and light-emitting diodes due to their remarkable optoelectronic properties and defect ***, the performance and stability of MHP-based devices are significantly influenced by their microstructures includingthe formation of defects, composition fluctuations, structural inhomogeneity, etc. Transmission electron microscopy(TEM) is a powerful tool for direct observation of microstructure at the atomic-scale resolution and has been used to correlatethe microstructure and performance of MHP-based devices. In this review, we highlight the application of TEMtechniques in revealing the microstructures of MHP thin films at the atomic scale. The results provide critical understandingof the performance of MHP devices and guide the design of strategies for improving the performance and stability ofMHP devices.

To reduce the cost and increase the efficiency of plant genetic marker fingerprinting for variety discrimination,it is desirable to identify the optimal marker *** describe a marker combination screening model based on the genetic algorithm(GA)and implemented in a software tool,Loci ***-based variety discrimination power provided the largest optimization space among multiple fitness *** GA parameters,an increase in population size and generation number enlarged optimization depth but also calculation *** algorithm afforded the same optimization depth as GA but vastly increased calculation *** comparison with two other software tools,Loci Scan accommodated missing data,reduced calculation time,and offered more fitness *** large datasets,the sample size of training data exerted the strongest influence on calculation time,whereas the marker size of training data showed no effect,and target marker number had limited effect on analysis speed.

A data-driven approach for predicting the fatigue life and failure mode of self-piercing rivet joints

In lightweight automotive vehicles,the application of self-piercing rivet(SPR)joints is becoming increasingly *** the importance of automotive service performance,the fatigue performance of SPR joints has received considerable ***,this study proposes a data-driven approach to predict the fatigue life and failure modes of SPR *** dataset comprises three specimen types:cross-tensile,cross-peel,and *** ensure data consistency,a finite element analysis was employed to convert the external loads of the different *** selection was implemented using various machine-learning algorithms to determine the model *** Gaussian process regression algorithm was used to predict fatigue life,and its performance was compared with different kernel functions commonly used in the *** results revealed that the Matern kernel exhibited an exceptional predictive capability for fatigue *** the data points,95.9%fell within the 3-fold error band,and the remaining 4.1%exceeded the 3-fold error band owing to inherent dispersion in the fatigue *** predict the failure location,various tree and artificial neural network(ANN)models were *** findings indicated that the ANN models slightly outperformed the tree *** ANN model accurately predicts the failure of joints with varying dimensions and ***,minor deviations were observed for the joints with the same ***,this data-driven approach provided a reliable predictive model for estimating the fatigue life and failure location of SPR joints.

Forecast of cosmological constraints with superluminous supernovae from the Chinese Space Station Telescope

Superluminous supernovae(SLSNe)are a class of intense celestial events that can be standardized for measuring cosmological parameters,bridging the gap between type Ia supernovae and the cosmic microwave *** this work,we discuss the cosmological applications of SLSNe from the Chinese Space Station Telescope(CSST).Our estimation suggests that SLSNe rate is biased tracing the cosmic star formation rate,exhibiting a factor of(1+z)^(1.2).We futher predict that CSST is poised to observe~360 SLSNe in the 10 square degrees ultra-deep field survey within a span of 2.5 years.A stringent constraint on cosmological parameters can be derived from their peak-color *** is anticipated to uncover a substantial number of SLSNe,contributing to a deeper understanding of their central engines and shedding light on the nature of dark energy at high redshifts.

Random Terpolymer of Carbon Dioxide,Butadiene and Epoxides:Synthesis,Functionalization and Degradability

The utilization of carbon dioxide(CO_(2))as a C1 feedstock is consistently attractive,especially in the preparation of sustainable polymeric *** this contribution,a terpolymer of CO_(2),1,3-butadiene(BD)and epoxide is synthesized by scandium triflate catalyzed cationic ring-opening copolymerization ofα-ethylidene-δ-vinyl-δ-valerolactone(EVL),an intermediate derived from CO_(2)and BD,with *** obtained terpolymer with a CO_(2)content of 22 mol%has a number-average molecular weight(M_(n))up to 7.8 kg/mol and a dispersity(Đ)of *** reactivity ratios of EVL and cyclohexene oxide(CHO)are determined as 0.01 and 1.07,respectively,suggesting random characteristic of the *** preserved C=C double bonds from BD allow for the further modification of the terpolymer by photoinitiated *** yielded networks are fluorescent and *** method offers enhanced versatility to the synthesis and additional functionalization of CO_(2)-based polymers.
