Effects of Zishen Yutai Pills on in vitro Fertilization-Embryo Transfer Outcomes in Patients with Diminished Ovarian Reserve:A Prospective,Open-Labeled,Randomized and Controlled Study

Objective:To explore the effects of Zishen Yutai Pills(ZYPs)on the quality of oocytes and embryos,as well as pregnancy outcomes in patients with diminished ovarian reserve(DOR)receiving in vitro fertilizationembryo transfer(IVF-ET).The possible mechanisms,involving the regulation of bone morphogenetic protein 15(BMP15)and growth differentiation factor 9(GDF9),were also investigated.Methods:A total of 120 patients with DOR who underwent their IVF-ET cycle were randomly allocated to 2 groups in a 1:1 ratio.The patients in the treatment group(60 cases)received ZYPs from the mid-luteal phase of the former menstrual cycle by using gonadotropin-releasing hormone(Gn RH)antagonist protocol.The patients in the control group(60 cases)received the same protocol but without ZYPs.The primary outcomes were the number of oocytes retrieved and high-quality embryos.Secondary outcomes included other oocyte or embryo indices as well as pregnancy outcomes.Adverse events were assessed by comparison of the incidence of ectopic pregnancy,pregnancy complications,pregnancy loss,and preterm birth.Contents of BMP15 and GDF9 in the follicle fluids(FF)were also quantified with enzymelinked immunosorbent assay.Results:Compared with the control group,the numbers of oocytes retrieved and high-quality embryos were significantly increased in the ZYPs group(both P0.05).The administration of ZYPs did not increase the incidence of adverse events.The expressions of BMP15 and GDF9 in the ZYPs group were significantly up-regulated compared with the control group(both P<0.05).Conclusions:ZYPs exhibited beneficial effects in DOR pa

Generic Modeling and Control Framework for Power Systems Dominated by Power Converters Connected Through a Passive Transmission and Distribution Grid

In this paper,a compact mathematical model having an elegant structure,together with a generic control framework,are proposed for generic power systems dominated by power converters that are interconnected through a passive transmission and distribution(T&D)grid,by adopting the port-Hamiltonian(pH)systems theory and the fundamental circuit theory.The models of generic T&D lines are developed and then the model of a generic T&D grid is established.With the proposed control framework,the controlled converters are proven to be passive and Input-to-State Stable(ISS).The compact mathematical model is scalable and can be applied to power systems with multiple power electronic converters with generic passive controllers,passive local loads,and different types of passive T&D lines connected in a meshed configuration without self-loops,so it is very generic.Moreover,the resulting power system is proven to be ISS as well.The analysis is carried out without assumptions on constant frequency/voltage,constant loads,and/or lossless networks,except the need of passivity for all parts involved,and without using the Clarke/Park transformations or the graph theory.To simplify the presentation,three-phase balanced systems are adopted but the results can be easily adapted for single-phase or unbalanced three-phase systems.

Study of deep transportation and plugging performance of deformable gel particles in porous media

Deformable gel particles(DGPs) possess the capability of deep profile control and flooding. However, the deep migration behavior and plugging mechanism along their path remain unclear. Breakage, an inevitable phenomenon during particle migration, significantly impacts the deep plugging effect. Due to the complexity of the process, few studies have been conducted on this subject. In this paper, we conducted DGP flow experiments using a physical model of a multi-point sandpack under various injection rates and particle sizes. Particle size and concentration tests were performed at each measurement point to investigate the transportation behavior of particles in the deep part of the reservoir. The residual resistance coefficient and concentration changes along the porous media were combined to analyze the plugging performance of DGPs. Furthermore, the particle breakage along their path was revealed by analyzing the changes in particle size along the way. A mathematical model of breakage and concentration changes along the path was established. The results showed that the passage after breakage is a significant migration behavior of particles in porous media. The particles were reduced to less than half of their initial size at the front of the porous media. Breakage is an essential reason for the continuous decreases in particle concentration, size, and residual resistance coefficient. However, the particles can remain in porous media after breakage and play a significant role in deep plugging. Higher injection rates or larger particle sizes resulted in faster breakage along the injection direction, higher degrees of breakage, and faster decreases in residual resistance coefficient along the path. These conditions also led to a weaker deep plugging ability. Smaller particles were more evenly retained along the path, but more particles flowed out of the porous media, resulting in a poor deep plugging effect. Market Equilibrium Based on Cloud-edge Collaboration

Market participants can only bid with lagged information disclosure under the existing market mechanism,which can lead to information asymmetry and irrational market behavior,thus influencing market efficiency.To promote rational bidding behavior of market participants and improve market efficiency,a novel electricity market mechanism based on cloudedge collaboration is proposed in this paper.Critical market information,called residual demand curve,is published to market participants in real-time on the cloud side,while participants on the edge side are allowed to adjust their bids according to the information disclosure prior to closure gate.The proposed mechanism can encourage rational bids in an incentive-compatible way through the process of dynamic equilibrium while protecting participants’privacy.This paper further formulates the mathematical model of market equilibrium to simulate the process of each market participant’s strategic bidding behavior towards equilibrium.A case study based on the IEEE 30-bus system shows the proposed market mechanism can effectively guide bidding behavior of market participants,while condensing exchanged information and protecting privacy of participants.

Induction of Apoptosis by L-NMMA,via FKHRL1/ROCK Pathway in Human Gastric Cancer Cells

Objective To investigate the apoptosis-inducing effect of endogenous nitric oxide （NO） suppression in gastric cancer cells and its mechanisms. Methods Apoptosis of gastric cancer cells was detected by flow cytometry. Expression of phosphorylated FKHRL1 （thr-32, ser-253） and FKHRL1 in gastric cancer cells was analyzed using Western blotting. Immunofluorescence assay was performed to localize the intracellular phosphorylated FKHRL1 （thr-32, ser-253） and FKHRL 1. Transfection of FKHRL1-HA wild type and mutant FKHRL1-HA T32A constructs was performed by lipofectamine plus reagent. NO generation was determined by Griess reaction. Results Gastric cancer cells were significantly apoptotic after treatment with NG-monomethyl-L-arginine （L-NMMA, a nitric oxide synthase inhibitor）, compared with the control （P〈0.01）. The apoptosis of gastric cancer cells induced by L-NMMA was dose-dependent and time-independent. However, the Z-DEVD-fmk, a caspase-3, 6, 7, 8, l0 inhibitor, did not prevent the apoptosis. The immunofluorescence assays showed that FKHRL1 protein was strongly expressed in the nucleu and p-FKHRL1 thr-32 protein was ：strongly expressed in the cytoplasm of SGC-7901 cells when endogenous nitric oxide generation was blocked by L-NMMA, but no change in FKHRL1 ser-253 phosphorylation. Nevertheless, ROCK protein was strongly expressed in p-FKHRL1 thr-32-positive SGC-7901 cells. The wortmannin, an inhibitor of phosphoinositol-3-OH kinase （PI3K）, did not block the phosphorylated FKHRL1 thr-32 protein induced by L-NMMA. However, Y-27632, a specific inhibitor of the protein kinase ROCK, significantly blocked apoptosis induced by phosphorylated FKHRL1 thr-32 （P〈0.01）, which was mediated by L-NMMA. A significant decrease in NO generation （P〈0.01） and a significant increase in apoptosis （P〈0.01） were observed when FKHRL1-HA wild-type cells were transfected, which caused increased FKHRL1 thr-32 phosphorylation. Opportunity to harmonize aspects of oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) performance and structure, and morphology, as well as composition, is urgent for the commercialization of proton exchange membrane fuel cells. Herein, we demonstrate the design and synthesis of a functionalized-supported-Pt catalyst(Pt@HNC) featuring a hollow nitrogen-modified dodecahedral carbon substrate obtained by a stress-induced-shrink tailoring route. The asobtained Pt@HNC catalyst possesses enhanced ORR performance, in particular with half-wave potential, mass activity(MA) and specific activity, which greatly exceed the commercial Pt/C. The density functional theory(DFT)calculations further confirmed that the charge redistribution induced by the electronegativity differences improved the electron interaction between Pt and HNC support. The optimized electronic structure of Pt weakens the reaction energy barrier on the Pt@HNC surface and adsorption of*OH species, thus cooperatively improving the intrinsic activity toward ORR. Additionally, our work indeed provides a guide for the future design of functional nanomaterials in the field of catalysts and clean energy.

Tuning Surface Molecular Design of Porous Carbon for Blue Energy Harvesting

Capacitive mixing is a promising blue energy technology due to its membrane-free electricity generation and long electrode life cycle.However,because of limited performance,existing systems do not lend themselves to practical implementation.Although it is a crucial factor directly influencing electrode behavior,surface chemistry has largely been overlooked in capacitive mixing.Here,we show that manipulating surface functionalization alone can tune the responses of electrodes to produce a high voltage rise without altering the pore structure of the electrodes.Our findings reveal that the spontaneous electrode potential of a surface-modified carbon electrode shifts negatively proportional to the surface charge due to the surface groups,which explains why and how manipulating the surface chemistry can improve the power generation capacity.

Background:According to clinical practice guidelines,transarterial chemoembolization(TACE)is the standard treatment modality for patients with intermediate-stage hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).Early prediction of treatment response can help patients choose a reasonable treatment plan.This study aimed to investigate the value of the radiomic-clinical model in predicting the efficacy of the first TACE treatment for HCC to prolong patient survival.Methods:A total of 164 patients with HCC who underwent the first TACE from January 2017 to September 2021 were analyzed.The tumor response was assessed by modified response evaluation criteria in solid tumors(mRECIST),and the response of the first TACE to each session and its correlation with overall survival were evaluated.The radiomic signatures associated with the treatment response were identified by the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator(LASSO),and four machine learning models were built with different types of regions of interest(ROIs)(tumor and corresponding tissues)and the model with the best performance was selected.The predictive performance was assessed with receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves and calibration curves.Results:Of all the models,the random forest(RF)model with peritumor(+10 mm)radiomic signatures had the best performance[area under ROC curve(AUC)=0.964 in the training cohort,AUC=0.949 in the validation cohort].The RF model was used to calculate the radiomic score(Rad-score),and the optimal cutoff value(0.34)was calculated according to the Youden’s index.Patients were then divided into a high-risk group(Rad-score>0.34)and a low-risk group(Rad-score≤0.34),and a nomogram model was successfully established to predict treatment response.The predicted treatment response also allowed for significant discrimination of Kaplan-Meier curves.Multivariate Cox regression identified six independent prognostic factors for overall survival,including male[hazard ratio(HR)=0.500,95%confidence interval(CI):0.260–0.962,P=0.038],alpha-fetoprotein(HR=

Effect of interplanetary magnetic field B_(x)on the polar electrojets as observed by CHAMP and Swarm satellites

Based on 16 years of magnetic field observations from CHAMP and Swarm satellites,this study investigates the influence of the Interplanetary Magnetic Field(IMF)Bx component on the location and peak current density of the polar electrojets(PEJs).We find that the IMF Bx displays obvious local time,seasonal,and hemispherical effects on the PEJs,as follows:(1)Compared to other local times,its influence is weakest at dawn and dusk.(2)In the midnight sectors of both hemispheres,the IMF Bx tends to amplify the westward PEJ when it is0 in the Southern Hemisphere;this effect is relatively stronger in the local winter hemisphere.(3)At noontime,the IMF Bx intensifies the eastward current when it is0,it reduces the westward current;this effect is notably more prominent in the local summer hemisphere.(4)Moreover,the noontime eastward current shifts towards higher latitudes,while the midnight westward current migrates towards lower latitudes when IMF Bx is0 in the Southern Hemisphere.

An Innovative Coupled Common-Node Discrete Element Method-Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics Model Developed with LS-DYNA and Its Applications

In this study,a common-node DEM-SPH coupling model based on the shared node method is proposed,and a fluid–structure coupling method using the common-node discrete element method-smoothed particle hydrodynamics(DS-SPH)method is developed using LS-DYNA software.The DEM and SPH are established on the same node to create common-node DEM-SPH particles,allowing for fluid–structure interactions.Numerical simulations of various scenarios,including water entry of a rigid sphere,dam-break propagation over wet beds,impact on an ice plate floating on water and ice accumulation on offshore structures,are conducted.The interaction between DS particles and SPH fluid and the crack generation mechanism and expansion characteristics of the ice plate under the interaction of structure and fluid are also studied.The results are compared with available data to verify the proposed coupling method.Notably,the simulation results demonstrated that controlling the cutoff pressure of internal SPH particles could effectively control particle splashing during ice crushing failure.
