The Sequential Pricing of Ride-Hailing System with Rental Service in the Context of Fleet Electrification

Surging demand and reduced capacity in the ride-hailing industry have prompted numerous ride-hailing platforms to build their own car-rental services catering to drivers who do not possess private vehicles. However, the trade-off between the ride-hailing service and the car-rental service is an important issue that is still unclear in theory. Moreover, ride-hailing platforms are transitioning towards all-electric fleets in the context of Carbon Neutrality goals and government regulations. This paper considers a ride-hailing system comprising a monopolist ride-hailing platform, an electric vehicle (EV) rental firm, and a gasoline vehicle (GV) rental firm. Furthermore, we build a stylized model to study the sequential pricing of the system. The equilibrium outcomes show the significant impact of the ride-hailing platform’s decision to continue or withdraw offering EV rental services on EV and GV drivers’ net earnings, rental prices, and wages. The ride-hailing platform providing EV rental services increases EV drivers’ net earnings but decreases the GV driver wages and rental prices. However, the EV rental service offered by the ride-hailing platform does not necessarily lead to an increased total profit for the system. The improved profitability of the system by the ride-hailing platform providing EV rental services is contingent upon lower rider prices and higher fuel costs. The ride-hailing platform’s EV rental services provision also effectively fosters the ride-hailing fleet’s electrification. Furthermore, as the number of riders increases, the ride-hailing platform should reduce the commission rate for EV drivers to maintain competitiveness and profitability.

Background Global warming leading to heat stress(HS)is becoming a major challenge for broiler production.This study aimed to explore the protective effects of seaweed(Enteromorpha prolifera)polysaccharides(EPS)on the intestinal barrier function,microbial ecology,and performance of broilers under HS.A total of 144 yellow-feathered broilers(male,56 days old)with 682.59±7.38 g were randomly assigned to 3 groups:1)TN(thermal neutral zone,23.6±1.8℃),2)HS(heat stress,33.2±1.5℃ for 10 h/d),and 3)HSE(HS+0.1%EPS).Each group contained 6 replicates with 8 broilers per replicate.The study was conducted for 4 weeks;feed intake and body weights were measured at the end of weeks 2 and 4.At the end of the feeding trial,small intestine samples were collected for histomorphology,antioxidant,secretory immunoglobulin A(s Ig A)content,apoptosis,gene and protein expression analysis;cecal contents were also collected for microbiota analysis based on 16S r DNA sequencing.Results Dietary EPS promoted the average daily gain(ADG)of broilers during 3–4 weeks of HS(P<0.05).At the end of HS on broilers,the activity of total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD),glutathione S-transferase(GST),and the content of s Ig A in jejunum were improved by EPS supplementation(P<0.05).Besides,dietary EPS reduced the epithelial cell apoptosis of jejunum and ileum in heat-stressed broilers(P<0.05).Addition of EPS in HS group broilers'diet upregulated the relative m RNA expression of Occludin,ZO-1,γ-GCLc and IL-10 of the jejunum(P<0.05),whereas downregulated the relative m RNA expression of NF-κB p65,TNF-αand IL-1βof the jejunum(P<0.05).Dietary EPS increased the protein expression of Occludin and ZO-1,whereas it reduced the protein expression of NF-κB p65 and MLCK(P<0.01)and tended to decrease the protein expression of TNF-α(P=0.094)in heat-stressed broilers.Furthermore,the proportions of Bacteroides and Oscillospira among the three groups were positively associated with jejunal apoptosis and pro-inflammatory cytokine expression(P<0.05)and negatively correlated with j

A Real-Time Small Target Vehicle Detection Algorithm with an Improved YOLOv5m Network Model

To address the challenges of high complexity,poor real-time performance,and low detection rates for small target vehicles in existing vehicle object detection algorithms,this paper proposes a real-time lightweight architecture based on You Only Look Once(YOLO)v5m.Firstly,a lightweight upsampling operator called Content-Aware Reassembly of Features(CARAFE)is introduced in the feature fusion layer of the network to maximize the extraction of deep-level features for small target vehicles,reducing the missed detection rate and false detection rate.Secondly,a new prediction layer for tiny targets is added,and the feature fusion network is redesigned to enhance the detection capability for small targets.Finally,this paper applies L1 regularization to train the improved network,followed by pruning and fine-tuning operations to remove redundant channels,reducing computational and parameter complexity and enhancing the detection efficiency of the network.Training is conducted on the VisDrone2019-DET dataset.The experimental results show that the proposed algorithmreduces parameters and computation by 63.8% and 65.8%,respectively.The average detection accuracy improves by 5.15%,and the detection speed reaches 47 images per second,satisfying real-time requirements.Compared with existing approaches,including YOLOv5m and classical vehicle detection algorithms,our method achieves higher accuracy and faster speed for real-time detection of small target vehicles in edge computing.

Geochemical and Isotopic Techniques Constraints on the Origin,Evolution,and Residence Time of Low-enthalpy Geothermal Water in Western Wugongshan,SE China

Geothermal resources are increasingly gaining attention as a competitive,clean energy source to address the energy crisis and mitigate climate change.The Wugongshan area,situated in the southeast coast geothermal belt of China,is a typical geothermal anomaly and contains abundant medium-and low-temperature geothermal resources.This study employed hydrogeochemical and isotopic techniques to explore the cyclic evolution of geothermal water in the western Wugongshan region,encompassing the recharge origin,water-rock interaction mechanisms,and residence time.The results show that the geothermal water in the western region of Wugongshan is weakly alkaline,with low enthalpy and mineralization levels.The hydrochemistry of geothermal waters is dominated by Na-HCO_(3)and Na-SO_(4),while the hydrochemistry types of cold springs are all Na-HCO_(3).The hydrochemistry types of surface waters and rain waters are NaHCO_(3)or Ca-HCO_(3).The δD and δ^(18)O values reveal that the geothermal waters are recharged by atmospheric precipitation at an altitude between 550.0 and 1218.6 m.Molar ratios of maj or solutes and isotopic compositions of^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr underscore the significant role of silicate weathering,dissolution,and cation exchange in controlling geothermal water chemistry.Additionally,geothermal waters experienced varying degrees of mixing with cold water during their ascent.Theδ^(13)C values suggest that the primary sources of carbon in the geothermal waters were biogenic and organic.Theδ^(34)S value suggests that the sulfates in geothermal water originate from sulfide minerals in the surrounding rock.Age dating using 3H and^(14)C isotopes suggests that geothermal waters have a residence time exceeding 1 kaBP and undergo a long-distance cycling process.

Single-cell mass spectrometry studies of drug metabolism heterogeneity and primary resistance to gefitinib in non-small cell lung cancer cells

Patients with epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)wild-type non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)often show primary resistance to gefitinib therapy.It is thus necessary to study the metabolism of gefitinib in NSCLC cells to comprehensively reveal the reasons for the primary resistance of tumors.Herein,we develop a platform for studying drug metabolism heterogeneity based on single-cell mass spectrometry(sDMH-scMS)by integrating living-cell electrolaunching ionization MS(ILCEI-MS)and high-performance liquid chromatography-MS(HPLC-MS)analysis,and the primary resistance of NSCLC cells to gefitinib was studied using this platform.The ILCEI-MS analysis showed that approximately 11.9%of NSCLC single cells contained the gefitinib metabolite M11;HPLC-MS detection diluted the intensity of M11 in subpopulations and concealed the heterogeneity of drug metabolism in tumor single cells.The intensity of gefitinib in EGFR wild-type A549 cells was markedly lower than in mutant PC9 cells,and the intensity of gefitinib metabolites was significantly higher than in PC9 cells,suggesting that the primary resistance of NSCLC cells is related to gefitinib metabolism.Moreover,the combination of gefitinib and the drug-metabolizing enzyme inhibitorα-naphthoflavone was shown to overcome the primary resistance of the NSCLC cells.Overall,the results of this study are expected to be applicable for clinical drug resistance diagnosis and treatment at the single-cell level.

Surface pollen and modern vegetation in Southern Xinjiang,China

The study of modern pollen,and vegetation can improve the accuracy of paleoenvironmental reconstruction based on fossil pollen data.A total of 188 pollen surface samples were collected from Southern Xinjiang(34°00’–43°00’N,74°00’–94°00’E)in China,with an elevation range of 888–4530 m.Surface pollen and vegetation were studied in the northern region of the Kunlun Mountains and the southern region of the Tianshan Mountains.The results showed that the surface pollen assemblages on the southern slope of the Tianshan Mountains(3530–1124 m)were divided into three pollen zones,namely,montane steppe,montane desert steppe,and montane desert.These zones were dominated by Artemisia,Chenopodiaceae,and Ephedra pollen.The surface pollen assemblages in the eastern Pamir Plateau(4530–1287 m)could be divided into alpine meadow,montane desert steppe,and montane desert zones,which were predominantly characterized by Artemisia,Chenopodiaceae,and Asteraceae pollen.However,the Southern Tarim Basin(3548–888 m)comprised montane desert steppe and montane desert zones,which was dominated by Artemisia and Chenopodiaceae pollen.The geographic distribution of the surface pollen sites obtained using ArcGIS,the R-value,and Pearson correlation analyses indicated that the over-represented Picea and Pinus pollen were of external origin and were transported by wind,water(rivers),and ice(glacier movement).Over-representation of Ephedra and Nitraria pollen was mainly distributed in the montane desert and desert steppe zones,respectively.Pollen from Chenopodiaceae and Artemisia were over-represented and broadly distributed across Southern Xinjiang.Juglans pollen was concentrated in areas with walnut trees,strongly indicating the presence of local parent plants.According to the Hybrid Singleparticle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory model,more Pinus pollen was transported to the Pamir region by external airflows during spring and summer,resulting in its higher surface pollen content.Research elucidating the relationship between modern pollen and vegeta

Liposomes are one of the significant classes of antitumor nanomaterials and the most successful nanomedicine drugs in clinical translation. However, it is difficult to accurately reveal liposome delivery modes and drug release rates at different p H values to assess the biodistribution and drug delivery pathways in vivo. Here, we established a strategy to integrate Bi-doped carbon quantum dots(CQDs)with liposomes to produce fluorescence visualization and therapeutic effects, namely lipo/Bi-doped CQDs.Lipo/Bi-doped CQDs show good water solubility and physicochemical properties, which can be used for in vitro labeling of colon cancer(CT26) cells and in vivo imaging localization tracking tumors for monitoring. Simultaneously, thanks to the excellent p H sensitivity and ion doping characteristic of Bi-doped CQDs, lipo/Bi-doped CQDs can be used to reveal the drug release rate of liposomes at different p H values and exhibit potential effects in vivo antitumor therapy.

Effect of non-uniform swelling on coal multiphysics during gas injection: The triangle approach

In current dual porosity/permeability models,there exists a fundamental assumption that the adsorption-induced swelling is distributed uniformly within the representative elementary volume (REV),irrespective of its internal structures and transient processes.However,both internal structures and transient processes can lead to the non-uniform swelling.In this study,we hypothesize that the non-uniform swelling is responsible for why coal permeability in experimental measurements is not only controlled by the effective stress but also is affected by the adsorption-induced swelling.We propose a concept of the swelling triangle composed of swelling paths to characterize the evolution of the non-uniform swelling and serve as a core link in coupled multiphysics.A swelling path is determined by a dimensionless volumetric ratio and a dimensionless swelling ratio.Different swelling paths have the same start and end point,and each swelling path represents a unique swelling case.The swelling path as the diagonal of the triangle represents the case of the uniform swelling while that as the two perpendicular boundaries represents the case of the localized swelling.The paths of all intermediate cases populate inside the triangle.The corresponding relations between the swelling path and the response of coal multiphysics are established by a non-uniform swelling coefficient.We define this method as the triangle approach and corresponding models as swelling path-based ones.The proposed concept and models are verified against a long-term experimental measurement of permeability and strains under constant effective stress.Our results demonstrate that during gas injection,coal multiphysics responses have a close dependence on the swelling path,and that in both future experiments and field predictions,this dependence must be considered.

Effects of dimethyl ether and ethanol additions on soot transition in ethylene counterflow diffusion flames

This paper investigates the effect of blending dimethyl ether(DME)and ethanol on the soot transition periods in ethylene counterflow diffusion flames by using a novel optical diagnostic method.The soot critical transition point in different conditions is identified experimentally and numerically.Two kinds of flames are carried out to gain the soot critical transition point in counterflow diffusion flames by changing oxygen fraction(Xo)and changing volume flow rates of fuel and oxidizer(Qv).The red-green-blue(RGB)ratio method is used to precisely identify the soot critical transition point,and chemical kinetic simulations are performed to analyze the detailed reaction paths.The results show that compared to the ethylene flame,the soot critical transition point occurs at a higher Xoand a lower Qvwhen DME or ethanol is blended.The addition of DME and ethanol can inhibit soot formation,due to the degree of soot formation reaction being lower than the degree of the oxidation reaction in the blending flames.

Coupled interactive effects of ammonia and hydrogen additions on ethylene diffusion flames: A detailed kinetic study

In order to create effective combustion technologies and fuels with low or no carbon emissions,the research was conducted to assess the coupled interactive effects of NH_(3) and H_(2) additions on ethylene counterflow diffusion flames from a kinetic perspective.The effects of the NH_(3)/H_(2) combination on flame temperatures,major species,key radicals,important intermediate species,representative oxygenated species and NO_xwere examined.The results of the study utilizing fictitious inert NH_(3) and/or H_(2) revealed the chemical effects of the two components.It was found that the NH_(3)/H_(2) coupled effects had a more effective inhibitory effect on soot precursors than the effects of corresponding sum of single NH_(3) or H_(2) addition.The production of soot precursors was promoted by the coupled chemical effects of NH_(3) and H_(2),but the coupled dilution and thermal effects were observed to have a greater impact,resulting in a decrease of the mole fractions of soot precursors.As for the interaction of NH_(3) and H_(2) effects,the presence of H_(2) decreased the chemical effects of NH_(3) on the augmentation of C_(2)H_(2),A1,A2,and CH_(3)CHO mole fractions.The NH_(3) addition alleviated the H_(2) chemical effects on increasing C_(2)H_(2),C_(3)H_(3),A1 and A2 concentrations.Conversely,the NH_(3)chemical effects on C_(3)H_(3),OH and CH_(3)CHO were enhanced when H_(2) was added.The presence of NH_(3) augmented the chemical effects of H_(2) on the growth of OH mole fraction.Moreover,the H_(2) chemical effects hindered the production of NO and NO_(2) in the presence of NH_(3).
