Introducing sulfur to nickel-iron selenide for high-efficiency alkaline seawater electrolysis

Seawater electrolysis is an effective way to obtain hydrogen(H_(2))in a sustainable ***,the lack of electrocatalysts with high activity,stability,and selectivity for oxygen evolution reaction(OER)severely hinders the development of seawater electrolysis ***,sulfur-doped nickel-iron selenide nanosheets(S-NiFeSe_(2))were prepared by an ion-exchange strategy and served as highly active OER electrocatalyst for alkaline seawater *** overpotential is 367 m V,and it can run stably for over 50 h at 100 m A cm^(-2).Excitingly,the S-NiFeSe_(2)||Pt/C pair exhibits cell voltage of 1.54 V at 10 m A cm^(-2)under alkaline seawater conditions,which can run smoothly for 100 h without decay,and the efficiency of electricity-tohydrogen(ETH)energy conversion reaches more than 80%.Such electrode,with abundant accessible reactive sites and good corrosion resistance,is a good candidate for seawater ***,density functional theory calculations reveal that the surface sulfur atoms can activate the adjacent Ni sites and decrease the free energy changes of the associated intermediates at the adjacent Ni sites for OER,and the step of~*OH→~*O is the potential rate-limiting *** this work,the true reactive site in nickel-iron selenides is the Ni sites,but not the Fe sites as commonly believed.

research and Development on PFBC-CC in china and Jiawang Pilot Plant Project

Pressurized Fluidized Bed Combustion(PFBC) is recognized as an advanced coal-fired technology which can improve efficiency in combined cycle scheme and reduce environmental pollution. Progressive status on PFBC-CC in china is presented in this paper. Test results on a 1 MWt bench scale experimental PFBC facility is reviewed briefly. Based on retrofitting of an old steam power plant located at Jiawang,a project to construct a PFBC-CC pilot plant is under way. Designed capacity of the pilot plant is about 15 MWe, 3 MWe from gas cycle and 12 MWe from steam cycle. The system configuration, main design parameters, estimated technical performance as well as construction schedule of the pilot plant are described. The bright future for PFBC-CC in china is also indicated.

Atomic-level insights into the initial oxidation mechanism of high-entropy diborides by first-principles calculations

Understanding the initial oxidation mechanism is critical for studying the oxidation resistance of high-entropy ***,related studies are ***,the initial oxidation mechanism of(Zr_(0.25)Ti_(0.25)Nb_(0.25)Ta_(0.25))B_(2)high-entropy diborides(HEB_(2)-1)is investigated by first-principles calculations at the atomic *** employing the two-region model method,the most stable surface of HEB_(2)-1 is determined to be(1120)*** dissociative adsorption process of the oxygen molecule on the HEB_(2)-1-(1120)surface is predicted to proceed spontaneously,where OeO bond breaks and each oxygen atom is chemisorbed on the most preferable hollow *** adsorption energy and the diffusion barrier of the oxygen atom on the(1120)surface of HEB_(2)-1 are in the vicinity of the average level of the cor-responding four individual *** addition,ab initio molecular dynamics simulations indicate a high initial oxidation resistance of HEB_(2)-1 at 1000 *** results are beneficial to further designing the high-entropy diborides with excellent oxidation resistance.

Drought weakens the positive effect of plant diversity on community biomass

Drought can greatly impact the biodiversity of an ecosystem and play a crucial role in regulating its ***,the specific mechanisms by which drought mediate the biodiversity effect(BE)on community biomass in above-and belowground through functional traits remain poorly ***,we conducted a common garden experiment in a greenhouse,which included two plant species richness levels and two water addition levels,to analyze the effects of biodiversity on aboveground biomass(AGB),belowground biomass(BGB)and total biomass(TB),and to quantify the relationship between BEs and functional traits under drought *** analysis focused on partitioning BEs into above-and belowground complementarity effect(CE)and selection effect(SE)at the species level,which allowed us to better understand the impacts of biodiversity on community biomass and the underlying *** results showed that plant species richness stimulated AGB,BGB and TB through *** decreased AGB,BGB and TB,*** addition,the aboveground CE was positively associated with the variation in plant *** in above-and belowground were negatively correlated with the community mean plant height and root length,***,drought weakened the aboveground CE by decreasing variation in plant height,resulting in a reduction in AGB and *** findings demonstrate that the complementarity of species is an important regulator of community biomass in above-and belowground,the dynamics of biomass under environmental stress are associated with the response of sensitive compartments.

Evaluation of rainfall threshold models for debris flow initiation in the Jiangjia Gully,Yunnan Province,china

Systematically determining the discriminatory power of various rainfall properties and their combinations in identifying debris flow occurrence is crucial for early warning *** this study,we evaluated the discriminatory power of different univariate and multivariate rainfall threshold models in identifying triggering conditions of debris flow in the Jiangjia Gully,Yunnan Province,*** univariate models used single rainfall properties as indicators,including total rainfall(R_(tot)),rainfall duration(D),mean intensity(I_(mean)),absolute energy(Eabs),storm kinetic energy(E_(s)),antecedent rainfall(R_(a)),and maximum rainfall intensity over various durations(I_(max_dur)).The evaluation reveals that the I_(max_dur)and Eabs models have the best performance,followed by the E_(s),R_(tot),and I_(mean)models,while the D and R_(a)models have poor ***,the I_(max_dur)model has the highest performance metrics at a 40-min *** used logistic regression to combine at least two rainfall properties to establish multivariate threshold *** results show that adding D or R_(a)to the models dominated by Eabs,E_(s),R_(tot),or I_(mean)generally improve their performances,specifically when D is combined with I_(mean)or when R_(a)is combined with Eabs or E_(s).Including R_(a)in the I_(max_dur)model,it performs better than the univariate I_(max_dur)model.A power-law relationship between I_(max_dur)and R_(a)or between Eabs and R_(a)has better performance than the traditional I_(mean)–D model,while the performance of the E_(s)–R_(a)model is *** evaluation reemphasizes the important role of the maximum intensity over short durations in debris flow *** also highlights the importance of systematically investigating the role of R_(a)in establishing rainfall thresholds for triggering debris *** the regional variations in rainfall patterns worldwide,it is necessary to evaluate the findings of this study across diverse watersheds.

Livelihood Vulnerability and Adaptation for Households Engaged in Forestry in Ecological Restoration Areas of the Chinese Loess Plateau

Chinese Loess Plateau has achieved a win-win situation concerning ecological restoration and socio-economic ***,synergistic development may not be realized at the local *** areas undergoing ecological restoration,livelihood vulner-ability may be more pronounced due to the inflexibility,policy protection,and susceptibility to climate and market changes in forestry *** this issue has attracted academic interest,empirical studies are relatively *** study,centered on Jiaxian County,Shaanxi Province of china explored the households’livelihood vulnerability and coping strategies and group heterogeneity con-cerned with livelihood structures or forestry resources through field investigation,comprehensive index assessment,and nonparametric *** showed that:1)the percentage of households with high livelihood vulnerability indicator(LVI)(>0.491)reached 46.34%.2)Eight groups in livelihood structures formed by forestry,traditional agriculture,and non-farm activities were significantly different in LVI,land resources(LR),social networks(SN),livelihood strategies(LS),housing characteristics(HC),and socio-demo-graphic profile(SDP).3)The livelihood vulnerability of the groups with highly engaged/reliance on jujube(Ziziphus jujuba)forest demonstrated more prominent livelihood vulnerability due to the increased precipitation and cold market,where the low-engaged with reliance type were significantly more vulnerable in LVI,SDP,LR,and HC.4)The threshold of behavioral triggers widely varied,and farmers dependent on forestry livelihoods showed negative coping ***,the cutting behavior was strongly associated with lagged years and government subsidies,guidance,and high returns of ***,the findings can provide guidance on the dir-ection of livelihood vulnerability mitigation and adaptive government management in ecologically restored *** issue of farmers’livelihood sustainability in the context of ecologi

A 12×10 Gb/s fully integrated CMOS parallel optical receiver front-end amplifier array

This paper presented a 12-channel parallel optical receiver front-end amplifier array design and realization in a low cost 0.18 μm CMOS *** channel incorporated a transimpedance amplifier and a limiting *** meet the challenge for the design of high gain front-end amplifier at date rate of up to 10 Gb/s,an optimized circuit topology was proposed and some bandwidth extension technologies were adopted,including regulated cascode,shunt peaking,and active negative *** the power consump-tion,crosstalk and noise,some corresponding solutions were presented such as applying isolation structure for parallel amplifier array,and optimization of noise and circuit parameters for 10 Gb/s *** on-wafer measurements revealed that this chip’s operation speed reached up to 10 Gb/s per channel,and 120 Gb/s with 12-channel in parallel *** a DC power of 853 mW from a 1.8 V supply voltage,the chip exhibits a conversion gain of up to 92.6 dBΩ,and a 3 dB bandwidth of 8 GHz,the output swing and input sensitivity for a bit-error rate of 10 12 at 10 Gb/s are 310 mV and 10 mVpp,*** chip size is 1142 μm×3816 μm including on-wafer testing pads.

CAMSHIFT algorithm and Comaniciu/Meer algorithm are two fundamental frameworks of mean shift procedure for video target *** paper generalizes the two well-known mean shift tracking algorithms,originally due to Bradski and Comaniciu/Meer.A new general similarity function which defines the distance between the target model and target candidate is employed to calculate the pixel weights and the target *** target size is iteratively estimated and updated based on the zeroth order moment of the pixel *** we prove that both the CAMSHIFT algorithm and the Comaniciu/Meer algorithm can be included in the generalized mean shift tracking *** tracking performances of three mean shift algorithms in the unified framework are shown and compared in the experimental results.

Interaction Theory of Asphalt and Rubber

Through scanning electron microscope （SEM）, spectral analysis, and component analysis tests, the interaction theory between asphalt and rubber was discussed. It is concluded that rubber powder become soft and bond together with each other after being mixed with asphalt. The asphalt changes from a smooth homogeneous matter to a continuous mixing system which is composed of rubber powder and asphalt. The interaction is mainly physical diffusion, but there are some chemical reactions in the process, especially at long reaction time.
