CO_(2) electrochemical reduction(CO_(2)ER)is an important research area for carbon ***,available catalysts for CO_(2) reduction are still characterized by limited stability and ***,metallic bismuth(Bi)has emerged as a promising catalyst for CO_(2) ***,we report the solid cathode electroreduction of commercial micronized Bi2O3as a straightforward approach for the preparation of nanostructured ***-1.1 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode in a KHCO3aqueous electrolyte,the resulting nanostructure Bi delivers a formate current density of~40 mA·cm^(-2) with a current efficiency of~86%,and the formate selectivity reaches97.6% at-0.78 *** nanosized Bi2O3as the precursor can further reduce the primary particle sizes of the resulting Bi,leading to a significantly increased formate selectivity at relatively low *** high catalytic activity of nanostructured Bi is attributable to the ultrafine and interconnected Bi nanoparticles in the nanoporous structure,which exposes abundant active sites for CO_(2) electrocatalytic reduction.

Temperature-and Strain-Compensated Directional Curvature Sensor Based on Bragg Gratings in Three-Core Fiber with Bridged Waveguides

Fiber-based curvature sensors, especially those capable of discerning the direction of curvature, have attracted more and more interest due to their promising applications in structural health monitoring, high-precision measurement, medical and biological diagnosis-treat instruments, and so on. Here, we propose and demonstrate a compact directional curvature sensor that comprises two bridged waveguides and three Bragg gratings in a section of three-core fiber（TCF）. Both the waveguides and gratings are integrated by femtosecond laser micromachining method. The waveguides, connecting the TCF outer cores to the lead-in single-mode fiber core, function as beam couplers to realize simultaneous interrogation of all three gratings without any separate fan-in/out component. Owing to the spatial specificity, the outer-core gratings exhibit high and direction-dependent sensitivity to curvature, whereas the central-core grating is nearly insensitive to curvature but shows similar sensitivities to ambient temperature and axial strain as the outer-core gratings. It can be used to compensate the cross impact of temperature and strain when the outer-core gratings are applied for curvature detection. Moreover, the wavelength interval between two outer-core gratings is also proposed as an indicator for curvature sensing. It features with a much higher sensitivity to curvature and reduced sensitivities to temperature and axial strain. The corresponding maximum sensitivity to curvature is as high as 191.89 pm/m-1, while the sensitivities to temperature and strain are only 0.3 pm/℃ and 0.0218 pm/με, respectively. Therefore, our proposed device provides a compact and robust all-infiber solution for directional curvature sensing. It not only offers high sensitivity and accuracy but also immunity to temperature and axial strain fluctuations, making it a promising tool for a wide range of applications.

Understanding the spatial and temporal distribution of different paleontological communities in the southern South China Sea(SCS)is fundamental to explore its paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental *** this study,foraminifera,pollen and diatoms from 100 surface sediment samples covering 40000 km^(2) of sea floor in the southern SCS were comprehensively investigated in terms of their assemblage and *** results showed the existence of abundant foraminifera and pollen in most of the samples,although diatom communities were relatively *** were dominated by ***,***,***,while diatoms were characterized by ***,*** and ***,indicating a typical tropical marine *** pollen assemblages showed a better reflection of montane rainforest,tropical rainforest and *** spatial differences among foraminifera assemblages may indicate the effect of water depth and a warmer environment in the southeast part of the study area,while the spatial patterns of diatom and pollen assemblages imply the influence of coastal *** study also noted that the compositions of paleontological communities in the SCS can vary significantly in a short distance,and synthesized studies on multiple biological groups are needed to reconstruct the Quaternary climate and the oceanographic environment.

Sesame is one of the eight major allergens that cause food allergies. Study of the epitopes of sesame allergens is important for understanding their sensitization mechanisms. Currently， less information is available on the epitope studies of sesame allergens. In this study， we analyzed the molecular characteristics， structure and homology of Ses i 3， one of the important sesame allergens. We predicted the B-cell linear epitopes of Ses i 3 using bioinformatics tools and characterized them by slot blot immuno-microarrays technology. Eight peptides as B-cell linear epitopes of Ses i 3 were identified， in addition， key amino acids in these epitopes were predicted and leucine 422 was identified as a key amino acid. The present work will contribute to further understanding of the sesame allergen and provide some help in the prevention and treatment of sesame allergy.

Wound healing in diabetic ulcers remains a significant clinical challenge, primarily due to bacterial infection and impaired angiogenesis. Periplaneta americana extract(PAE) has been widely used to treat diabetic wounds, yet its underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. This study aimed to elucidate these mechanisms by analyzing long non-coding RNA(lncRNA) expressions in the wound tissues from diabetic anal fistula patients treated with or without PAE, using high-throughput sequencing. Peripheral blood monocytes from patients were differentiated into M0 macrophages with human macrophage colony-stimulating factor(hMCSF) and subsequently polarized into M1 macrophages with lipopolysaccharide. The results indicated that LINC01133 and SLAMF9 were downregulated in wound tissues of patients treated with PAE. Furthermore, PAE suppressed M1 macrophage polarization and enhanced human umbilical vein endothelial cell(HUVEC) proliferation, migration, and angiogenesis. These effects were diminished when LINC01133 or SLAMF9 were overexpressed. Mechanistically, LINC01133 was shown to upregulate SLAMF9 through interaction with ELAVL1. Overexpression of SLAMF9 reversed the effects of LINC01133 silencing on macrophage polarization and HUVEC functions. In conclusion, PAE facilitates the healing of infected diabetic ulcers by downregulating the LINC01133/SLAMF9 pathway.

Portable Structure Surface Crack Detection System Based on Android Platform

Cracks,potholes,and other defects often occur on infrastructure such as bridges,among which cracks are one of the most frequent *** have diverse shapes and are difficult to *** manual inspection methods are inefficient and have low accuracy,while automated inspection machines are bulky and inconvenient to carry and *** on the shortcomings of existing detection technologies,this paper proposes a portable structural surface crack detection system based on the Android platform using a portable hand-held image acquisition *** system captures cracks on the structure's surface and obtains high-definition crack ***,these images are transmitted to portable smartphone terminals through ***,the image is pre-processed using weighted averaging,grayscale linear transformation,and adaptive median ***,the improved Canny edge detection algorithm is applied to identify crack information,and the edge segmentation algorithm is used to determine the crack ***,based on camera calibration,the pixels are converted into the length data required for actual *** results show that the system is easy to operate,and it not only has crack storage and tracking functions,but also can effectively measure the crack width on the surface of *** measurement accuracy of this system reaches the sub-pixel level,and in actual testing,compared with the crack width gauge,the maximum relative error does notexceed6.25%.

Adsorption of Phenanthrene in Soil to Biochar Modified by β-Cyclodextrin

In this study, the adsorption effect of β-cyclodextrin modified biochar (BC) on phenanthrene (PHE) in contaminated soil was investigated, aiming to provide an efficient and environmentally friendly remediation strategy for Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) contaminated soil. Through kinetic and isotherm analysis, β-CDBC-CA showed excellent phenanthrene adsorption performance, and the adsorption effect increased with the increase of time and was affected by temperature. The results show that β-CDBC-CA can not only effectively adsorb phenanthrene in soil, but also serve as a surfactant to help desorption phenanthrene adsorbed by soil organic matter and improve the efficiency of microbial degradation. The experimental data showed that the Elovich model could describe the adsorption behavior of β-CDBC-CA on phenanthrene well, while Langmuir and Freundlich models performed better in fitting parameters, revealing the adsorption mechanism of phenanthrene in contaminated soil by β-cyclodextrin-modified biochar. In addition, temperature has a significant effect on the adsorption capacity of β-CDBC-CA, and its application in soil remediation can be optimized by adjusting temperature. This study not only provides new materials and technical means for soil remediation but also provides important data support for an in-depth understanding of the environmental behavior of PAHs. By citing relevant research results, this study further improves the control and understanding of environmental risks of PAHs, which is of great significance for the protection of ecological environment and human health.
