The title Schiff base compound C13H19N3O3 synthesized by the condensation of equimolar 5-nitrosalicylaldehyde and N,N-diethylethane-1,2-diamine consists of two independent molecules. The compound was characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal belongs to the orthorhombic system, space group Pbca with a = 13.151 （3）, b = 20.609（4）, c = 20.991 （4） °A, Z = 16, V = 5689（2） °A^3, Dc = 1.239 g/cm^3, Mr = 265.31, λ（MoKa） = 0.71073 °A, μ= 0.089 mm^-1, F（000） = 2272, R = 0.0732 and wR = 0.1454. A total of 5264 unique reflections were collected, of which 2023 with I 〉 2σ（I） were observed. As expected, the molecule adopts trans configuration about the C=N double bond. The molecules in the crystal are linked through intermolecular hydrogen bonds and π-π interactions, forming a 3-D network.

The reduced SnO2（110） surface has been investigated by using first-principles method with a slab model. By examining the vacancy formation energy of three kinds of reduced SnO2（110） surfaces, the most energetically favorable defect surface is confirmed to be the surface with the coexistence of bridging and in-plane oxygen vacancies, which is different with the traditional model by only removing bridging oxygen. The results of band structure calculations indicate that the electronic structure of this defect surface is similar to the SnO surface.

In this article the UDF script file in the Fluent software was rewritten as the ＂connecting file＂ for the Fluent and the ANSYS/ABAQUS in order that the joined file can be used to do aero-elastic computations. In this way the fluid field is computed by solving the Navier-Stokes equations and the structure movement is integrated by the dynamics directly. An analysis of the computed results shows that this coupled method designed for simulating aero-elastic systems is workable and can be used for the other fluid-structure interaction problems.

The acoustic field of a linear compressor serves to deliver the compression work to the load, such as the connected cold head of a cryocooler; it plays an equivalently important role as the electrical and mechanical parts, especially in the impedance match issue. This paper studies the acoustic impedance characteristics of a linear compressor. The parameters including the current, the piston displacement, the pressure amplitude, the electrical power dissipation, the power factor, the pressure-volumetric (PV) power delivered, and the efficiency are theoretically and experimentally investigated. Different from previous theoretical studies, optimization for the operations away from the resonance is also included. More general optimization results imply relevance between thermoacoustic engines and linear compressors. The predicted results are validated by the experiments performed on a linear compressor with an adjustable resistive-capacitive (RC) acoustic load. The comparisons between the calculations and the measurements are presented and analyzed. The results provide deeper insight into the mechanism of the linear compressor and the impedance match in a cryocooler system.

Aim： To investigate the effect of cocaine on apoptosis and caspase-3 activity in germ cells in male rats at different ages. Methods： Cocaine hydrochloride was given （15 mg/kg body weight s.c.） to male Sprague-Dawley rats of 3 weeks （n = 8）, 6 weeks （n = 8） and 12 weeks （n = 8） of age, daily for 28 days. The serum levels of follicle stimulating hormone （FSH）, luteinizing hormone （LH）, prolactin （PRL）, testosterone （T） and estrogen （E2） were assayed, and the DNA fragmentation of germ cells was determined by gel eletronphoresis. The cell cycle, apoptosis and caspase-3 activity of germ cells were tested by flow cytometry. Results： After the 28-day cocaine treatment, testes weight of the 3-week-old rats, the testes and body weights of the 6-week-old rats were decreased significantly compared to those of their corresponding controls （P 〈 0.05）. The serum level of T was decreased significantly in the 3-week-old and 6-week-old rats, and the serum level of PRL was also decreased significantly in 12-week-old rats compared to the controls （P 〈 0.05）, In all the three cocaine-treated groups, the isolated DNA displayed a clear ladder pattern, especially in the 6-week old rats. The number of apoptosic germ cells increased significantly in 3- and 6- week-old rats treated with cocaine （P 〈 0.05）. The caspase-3 activity in all three groups increased significantly compared to the controls （P 〈 0.05）, especially in the 6-week-old rats. Conclusion： Cocaine exposure for 28 days leads to significant damage to male gonad and apoptosis elevation in testes of rats of different ages, especially in those of 6 weeks of age. The increase in caspase-3 activity might be a key pathway related to the early stage of apoptosis as the mechanism of cocaine-induced germ cell loss.

Objective To investigate the effects of the B7-H4 gene rs10754339 and miR-125a gene rs12976445 on cancer susceptibility through a case-control study and *** A total of 1,490 cancer patients(lung/gastric/liver/:550/460/480)and 800 controls were recruited in this case-control *** meta-analysis was performed by pooling the data from previous related studies and the present *** The results of this study showed that in the Hubei Han Chinese population,the rs10754339gene was significantly associated with the risk of lung and gastric cancer but not liver cancer,and the rs12976445 gene was significantly associated with the risk of lung cancer but not liver or gastric *** meta-analysis results indicated that rs10754339 and rs12976445 contributed to cancer susceptibility in the Chinese population and also revealed a significant association between rs10754339and breast cancer risk,as well as between rs12976445 and lung cancer *** The B7-H4 gene rs10754339 and miR-125a gene rs12976445 may be the potential genetic markers for cancer susceptibility in the Chinese population,which should be validated in future studies with larger sample sizes in other ethnic populations.

Kaschin-Beck disease (KBD) is an endemic and chronic osteoarthropathy characterized by pathological aspects including chondrocyte degeneration, necrosis, progressive loss of articular cartilage, and secondary degenerative osteoarthrosis of epiphyseal cartilage, epiphyseal plate cartilage, and articular cartilage, during puberty[1]. The main clinical symptoms are limb joint pain, thickening, deformation, limited movement, muscle atrophy, and in case of more severely affected patients, short fingers (toes), short limbs, and even short stature[1].
