We report the discovery of a peculiar X-ray transient,EP240408a,by Einstein Probe （EP） and follow-up studies made with EP,Swift,NICER,GROND,ATCA and other ground-based multiwavelength *** new transient was first detected with Wide-field X-ray Telescope （WXT） on board EP on April 8th,2024,manifested in an intense yet brief X-ray flare lasting for *** flare reached a peak flux of 3.9×10-9erg cm-2s-1in 0.5-4 ke V,～300 times brighter than the underlying X-ray emission detected throughout the *** and more precise follow-up observations by EP/FXT,Swift and NICER confirmed the finding of this new *** X-ray spectrum is non-thermal in 0.5-10 ke V,with a power-law photon index varying *** X-ray light curve shows a plateau lasting for ～4 d,followed by a steep decay till becoming undetectable ～10 d after the initial *** on its temporal property and constraints from previous EP observations,an unusual timescale in the range of 7-23 d is found for EP240408a,which is intermediate between the commonly found fast and long-term *** counterparts have been found in optical and near-infrared,with the earliest observation at 17 h after the initial X-ray detection,suggestive of intrinsically weak emission in these *** demonstrate that the remarkable properties of EP240408a are inconsistent with any of the transient types known so far,by comparison with,in particular,jetted tidal disruption events,gamma-ray bursts,X-ray binaries and fast blue optical *** nature of EP240408a thus remains an *** suggest that EP240408a may represent a new type of transients with intermediate timescales of the order of～10 *** detection and follow-ups of more of such objects are essential for revealing their origin.

AIM To study the impact on cleavage of tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 1(TRAF1) regulated by Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori).METHODS Cleavage of TRAF1 was detected by western blotting in the human gastric cancer cell line AGS following treatment with an apoptosis inducer. Cleavage of TRAF1 mediated by caspase was examined in vitro using specific caspase inhibitors. The effect of the COOH-terminal TRAF1 fragment on gastric cell apoptosis during H. pylori infection was measured using flow cytometry. The impact of H. pylori infection on TRAF1 cleavage was detected in the presence of apoptosis inducer. The roles of H. pylori virulence factors that may regulate TRAF1 cleavage were analyzed using isogenic cag A-, vac A- and cag E- null *** TRAF1 was found to be cleaved in AGS cells treated with the apoptosis inducer, and caspase-8 was the major caspase involved in the cleavage of TRAF1. The COOH-terminal TRAF1 fragment significantly induced cell apoptosis(P < 0.05) as well as promoted H. pylori-induced cell apoptosis(P < 0.05). H. pylori infection was found to significantly inhibit the cleavage of TRAF1 and to inhibit the activation of caspase-8 in thepresence of the apoptosis inducer at specific infection times and different cell/bacteria ratios. We also found that the effects of cag E- and cag A- null mutants on the inhibition of TRAF1 cleavage and activation of caspase-8 were significantly attenuated, compared with wild-type H. pylori, in the presence of the apoptosis inducer, showing that the virulence factor Cag A was mainly involved in the inhibition of TRAF1 *** H. pylori infection significantly inhibits the cleavage of TRAF1 via a CagA-dependent mechanism, which would increase the relative amounts of full-length TRAF1 and exert an antiapoptotic effect on H. pylori-infected cells.

采用高纯度的Ti箔作为阳极，以Pt片为阴极，在0．1％～1．0％HF水溶液中，电压0．4～14．5V，温度5-40℃范围内进行恒压阳极氧化制备TiO2膜。使用电化学工作站测试了线性扫描阳极极化曲线及阳极氧化过程中的电流密度-时间曲线：并使用扫描电子显微镜对氧化膜的平衡形貌进行观察；研究了阳极氧化时间、电压、电解液浓度以及温度对平衡生长氧化膜结构的影响。结果表明：阳极氧化工艺参数对氧化膜的形成速度、纳米孔孔径、纳米管阵列长度有显著影响。增大电解液浓度以及升高电解液温度，均有利于加快形成结构稳定的氧化膜，表现在到达氧化膜稳定生长的时间缩短，且平衡时纳米管的平均长度缩短。随电压增大，氧化膜生长加速，但获得平衡生长的时间相对延长；纳米孔孔径及纳米管的长度都随之增大。

In this study we report the results of a decade-long breeding program for japonica super rice made by Nanjing Branch of Chinese National Center for Rice Improvement in Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences. We concluded that selection of parents with good comprehensive traits and complementary advantages and disadvantages of both parents in the hybrid combination, and early selection of high heritability traits in earlier segregating generations could significantly improve the breeding efficiency. The use of closely-linked functional markers in pyramiding of multiple genes could greatly increase breeding efficiency, avoiding time-consuming and laborious steps that were used in traditional breeding program. It is also important to coordinate the yield components with variety characteristics such as yield stability, wide adaptability, lodging resistance, and an attractive grain appearance during late growth stage of rice.

Objective:To assess the efficacy and safety of Bushen Huoxue Formula(BSHXF)for the treatment of discogenic low-back pain(DLBP).Methods:This was a parallel,double-blind,randomized,clinical trial performed between May 2019 and June *** patients were assigned by computerized random number table to the treatment group(lumbar traction and BSHXF,35 cases)or the control group(lumbar traction and placebo,35 cases).The patients received intervention for 3 *** was conducted before treatment and at week 1,2,3 during *** outcome was the self-reported score of Oswestry Disability Index(ODI).Secondary outcomes included Visual Analog Scale(VAS),clinical efficacy rate by minimal clinically important difference(MCID)as well as lumbar tenderness,muscle tone and lumbar spine *** reactions were ***-up was performed at 1 and 3 months after the end of ***:In the treatment group,ODI score was significantly decreased compared with baseline(P<0.05)and the control group at 2-and 3-week ***,VAS score decreased compared with the baseline(P<0.05)and was lower than that in the control group at 2-and 3-week treatment(P<0.05).The clinical efficacy rate of the treatment group was higher than that of the control group after treatment[32.35%(11/34)vs.3.13%(1/32),P<0.05].Moreover,the tenderness,and muscle tone,as well as the back extension and left flexion in lumbar spine mobility in the treatment group at 3-week treatment were significantly improved compared with the control group(P<0.05).Follow-up showed that at 1-month after treatment,the treatment group had better outcomes than the control group with regard to a total score of ODI and VAS scores,as well as clinical efficacy rate(all P<0.05).Moreover,VAS score was still significantly lower than the control group at 3-month follow-up(P<0.05).No adverse reactions were reported during the ***:BSXHF combined with lumbar traction can significantly imp

Tipping points of about 16 elements have been identified in Earth system,yet cryospheric tipping point of specific Alpine region has not been *** we analyzed three tipping elements(mountain glacier,snow cover,and permafrost)identified in recent years,evidenced by the facts of frequent occurrence of abrupt massive collapse of glacier mass and the widespread thermakarst of *** 2015,strikingly abrupt cryosphere events(ACEs)have been consistently observed over a large range of High Mountain Asia(HMA).Those events were un-precedentedly significant in history,leading to collapses of glaciers following by disconnection of glacier tongue from accumulation basin and recession of thermakarst towards higher *** decreasing of snow depth in 2022 was also observed since 2021/2022 winter,coinciding with extreme warming of the *** widespread high warming rates in the last two decades over HMA might have triggered above *** dynamic thresholds of ACEs depend largely on high temperature,especially extreme heat wave,for both glaciers and permafrost,closely related to meltwater as a key factor for reaching initial conditions of abrupt changes,suggesting HMA cryosphere is a tipping element under the global warming level of 1.1℃.The ACEs can cause tremendous damage to local ecosystem and socioeconomy,measures to mitigate risks should be taken when the tipping points are reached.
