Boosting thermal stability and crystallization of closed-loop-recyclable biodegradable poly(p-dioxanone) by end-group regulation

A chemically closed-loop-recyclable biodegradable polymer,poly(p-dioxanone)(PPDO),is one of the ideal candidates for single-use plastic products due to its suitability for different application ***,when PPDO wastes can be collected,its monomer p-dioxanone(PDO) will be obtained through chemical recycling of these wastes;when cannot be collected,the wastes are able to be biodegraded into harmless ***,unsatisfied thermal stability and low crystallization rate of PPDO restrict its wider ***,based on end-group regulation,we simultaneously realized the significant enhancement of thermal stability and crystallization of PPDO through the simple melt processing with tributyl phosphite(TBP) or triphenyl phosphite(TPP).The model reactions were conducted to investigate the reaction mechanism and theoretical products during the preparation of PPDO/phosphite *** kinds of phosphites were proved to act as the end-capped reagent and chain extender in the melt processing,while TBP presented better *** a result,the activation energy of thermal decomposition was largely elevated,and the unprecedented T_(5%)(the temperature at a weight loss of 5%) and Tmax(the temperature at a maximum rate of weight loss) of PPDO were obtained,i.e.,T_(5%)of ~330 ℃ and Tmaxof ~385 ℃ in N_(2) atmosphere,T_(5%)of ~240 ℃ and Tmaxof ~317 ℃ in air atmosphere,***,the increased crystallization rate,crystallinity,crystalline orderliness,and realizable monomer recovery(yield >90%,purity >99.9%) of PPDO/phosphite compounds were confirmed.

Little is known about the mechanism of climate-vegetation coverage coupled changes in the Tibetan Plateau(TP)region,which is the most climatically sensitive and ecologically fragile region with the highest terrain in the *** study,using multisource datasets(including satellite data and meteorological observations and reanalysis data)revealed the mutual feedback mechanisms between changes in climate(temperature and precipitation)and vegetation coverage in recent decades in the Hengduan Mountains Area(HMA)of the southeastern TP and their influences on climate in the downstream region,the sichuan Basin(SCB).There is mutual facilitation between rising air temperature and increasing vegetation coverage in the HMA,which is most significant during winter,and then during spring,but insignificant during summer and *** temperature significantly enhances local vegetation coverage,and vegetation greening in turn heats the atmosphere via enhancing net heat flux from the surface to the *** atmospheric heating anomaly over the HMA thickens the atmospheric column and increases upper air *** high pressure anomaly disperses downstream via the westerly flow,expands across the SCB,and eventually increases the SCB *** effect lasts from winter to the following spring,which may cause the maximum increasing trend of the SCB temperature and vegetation coverage in *** results are helpful for estimating future trends in climate and eco-environmental variations in the HMA and SCB under warming scenarios,as well as seasonal forecasting based on the connection between the HMA eco-environment and SCB climate.

Numerical and experimental study of the effects of wind turbine operation on sand-dust transport characteristics

Given factors such as reduced land availability for onshore wind farms,wind resource enrichment levels,and costs,there is a growing trend of establishing wind farms in deserts,the Gobi,and other arid ***,the relationship between sanddust weather environments and wind turbine operations has garnered significant *** investigate the impact of wind turbine wakes on sand-dust transportation,this study employs large eddy simulation to model flow fields,coupled with an actuator line model for simulating rotating blades and a multiphase particle in cell model for simulating sand *** research focuses on a horizontal axis wind turbine model and examines the motion and spatiotemporal distribution characteristics of four typical sizes of sand particles in the turbine *** findings reveal that sand particles of varying sizes exhibit a spiral settling pattern after traversing the rotating plane of wind turbine blades,influenced by blade shedding vortex and *** particles tend to cluster in the peripheries of the vortex cores of low vorticity in the wind turbine *** rotation of wind turbines generates a wake vortex structure that causes a significant clustering of sand particles at the tip *** the wake distance increases,the particles that cluster at the turbine's tip gradually spread outward to approximately twice the rotor diameter and then begin to mix with the incoming flow *** turbines have a noticeable impact on sand-dust transportation,hindering their movement to a significant *** average sand-blocking rate exhibits a trend of initially increasing and then decreasing as the wake distance *** its peak,the sand-blocking rate reaches an impressive 67.55%.The presence of wind turbines induces the advanced settling of sand particles,resulting in a“triangular”distribution of the deposition within the ground projection area of the wake.

Graphene effectively activating "dead" water molecules between manganese dioxide layers in potassium-ion battery

Aqueous potassium-ion batteries(APIBs),recognized as safe and reliable new energy devices,are considered as one of the alternatives to traditional *** MnO_(2),serving as the main cathode,exhibits a lower specific capacity in aqueous electrolytes compared to organic systems and operates through a different reaction *** application of highly conductive graphene may effectively enhance the capacity of APIBs but could complicate the potassium storage *** this study,a MnO_(2) cathode pre-intercalated with K~+ions and grown on graphene(KMO@rGO) was developed using the microwave hydrothermal method for ***@rGO achieved a specific capacity of 90 mA h g^(-1) at a current density of 0.1 A g^(-1),maintaining a capacity retention rate of>90% after 5000 cycles at 5 A g^(-1).In-situ and exsitu characterization techniques revealed the energy-storage mechanism of KMO@rGO:layered MnO_(2)traps a large amount of "dead" water molecules during K~+ions ***,the introduction of graphene enables these water molecules to escape during K~+ ions insertion at the *** galvanostatic intermittent titration technique and density functional theory confirmed that KMO@rGO has a higher K~+ions migration rate than MnO_(2).Therefore,the capacity of this cathode depends on the interaction between dead water and K~+ions during the energy-storage *** optimal structural alignment between layered MnO_(2) and graphene allows electrons to easily flow into the external *** charge compensation forces numerous low-solvent K~+ions to displace interlayer dead water,enhancing the *** unique reaction mechanism is unprecedented in other aqueous battery studies.

Clinical features and prognostic factors of duodenal neuroendocrine tumours:A comparative study of ampullary and nonampullary regions

BACKGROUND Duodenal neuroendocrine tumours(DNETs)are rare ***,the incidence of DNETs has been increasing in recent years,especially as an incidental finding during endoscopic ***,there is no consensus regarding the ideal treatment of *** there are few studies on the clinical features and survival analysis of *** To analyze the clinical characteristics and prognostic factors of patients with duodenal neuroendocrine *** The clinical data of DNETs diagnosed in the First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Military Medical University from June 2011 to July 2022 were ***-docrine tumours located in the ampulla area of the duodenum were divided into the ampullary region group;neuroendocrine tumours in any part of the duo-denum outside the ampullary area were divided into the nonampullary region *** a retrospective study,the clinical characteristics of the two groups and risk factors affecting the survival of DNET patients were *** Twenty-nine DNET patients were *** male to female ratio was 1:1.9,and females comprised the *** ampullary region group accounted for 24.1%(7/29),while the nonampullary region group accounted for 75.9%(22/29).When diagnosed,the clinical symptoms of the ampullary region group were mainly abdominal pain(85.7%),while those of the nonampullary region groups were mainly abdominal distension(59.1%).There were differences in the composition of staging of tumours between the two groups(Fisher's exact probability method,P=0.001),with nonampullary stage II tumours(68.2%)being the main stage(Psis of DNETs,the survival rate of the ampullary region group was 14.3%(1/7),which was lower than that of 72.7%(16/22)in the nonampullary region group(Fisher's exact probability method,P=0.011).The survival time of the ampullary region group was shorter than that of the nonampullary region group(P<0.000).The median survival time of the ampullary

Mitochondria-targeted nanoparticles overcome chemoresistance via downregulating BACH1/CD47 axis in ovarian carcinoma

The platinum-based chemotherapy is a routine strategy for the treatment of ovarian cancer,while it is prone to chemoresistance in clinical,which hinders the ***,it is urgently needed to elucidate the underlying mechanism of drug resistance and form the appropriate *** sequencing results showed that cisplatin(DDP)resistant ovarian cancer overexpressed BTB and CNC homology 1(BACH1),and up-regulated the“don’t eat me”signal *** identified that hemin,a BACH1 inhibitor,could effectively down-regulate BACH1 and simultaneously inhibit ***,hemin has a synergistic effect with *** designed a pH-responsive nanoparticle(H/D@FA-CaP-NPs)in which folic acid(FA)ensured targeting of ovarian cancer cells,while hemin inhibited BACH1 as well as down-regulated CD47,achieving the promotion of apoptosis of tumor cells and inducing phagocytosis of tumors by ***,hemin has a synergistic effect with DDP to promote apoptosis of tumor ***,hemin and DDP was encapsulated within hydrophobic 1,2-distearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine(DSPE)to form a tight core,and hydrophilic polyethylene glycol 2000(PEG2000)and calcium phosphate(CaP)formed the outside shell,and FA was modified on the surface of *** terms of function,(a)FA enhanced the active targeting of nanoparticles to tumors;(b)NPs targeted mitochondria to induce reactive oxygen species(ROS)production;(c)hemin encapsulated in nanoparticles could specifically target BACH1,thereby down regulating CD47;(d)hemin had a synergistic effect with DDP,thus augmenting the ***,mitochondria-targeted nanoparticles H/D@FA-CaP-NPs promoted tumor apoptosis and mobilized phagocytosis to treat tumor,providing a novel scheme for clinical treatment of cisplatin-resistant ovarian carcinoma.
