Signifcant advancements have been made in recent years in the development of highly sophisticated skin *** as three-dimensional(3D)models that mimic human skin,these organoids have evolved into complex structures and are increasingly recognized as efective alternatives to traditional culture models and human skin due to their ability to overcome the limitations of two-dimensional(2D)systems and ethical *** inherent plasticity of skin organoids allows for their construction into physiological and pathological models,enabling the study of skin development and dynamic *** review provides an overview of the pivotal work in the progression from 3D layered epidermis to cyst-like skin organoids with ***,it highlights the latest advancements in organoid construction facilitated by state-of-the-art engineering techniques,such as 3D printing and microfuidic *** review also summarizes and discusses the diverse applications of skin organoids in developmental biology,disease modelling,regenerative medicine,and personalized medicine,while considering their prospects and limitations.

Gastrointestinal problems in a valproic acid-induced rat model of autism: From maternal intestinal health to offspring intestinal function

BACKGROUND Autism spectrum disorder(ASD)is a developmental disorder characterized by social deficits and repetitive ***(GI)problems,such as constipation,diarrhea,and inflammatory bowel disease,commonly occur in patients with ***,GI problems of ASD patients were attributed to intestinal inflammation and vertical mother-to-infant microbiome *** To explore whether GI problems in ASD are related to maternal intestinal inflam-mation and gut microbiota *** An ASD rat model was developed using valproic acid(VPA).Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and fecal 16S rRNA sequencing were used to test GI *** VPA exposure during pregnancy led to pathological maternal intestinal changes,resulting in alterations in maternal gut ***,the levels of inflammatory factors also ***,prenatal exposure to VPA resulted in impaired duodenal motility in the offspring as well as increased levels of infla-mmatory *** GI problems in ASD may be associated with maternal intestinal inflammation and microbiota *** research is required to find more evidence on the etiology and treatment of GI problems in ASD.

The available modelling data shortage issue makes it difficult to guarantee the performance of data-driven building energy prediction(BEP)models for both the newly built buildings and existing information-poor *** knowledge transfer learning(KTL)and data incremental learning(DIL)can address the data shortage issue of such *** new building scenarios with continuous data accumulation,the performance of BEP models has not been fully investigated considering the data accumulation ***,which can learn dynamic features from accumulated data adapting to the developing trend of new building time-series data and extend BEP model's knowledge,has been rarely *** studies have shown that the performance of KTL models trained with fixed data can be further improved in scenarios with dynamically changing ***,this study proposes an improved transfer learning cross-BEP strategy continuously updated using the coarse data incremental(CDI)*** hybrid KTL-DIL strategy(LSTM-DANN-CDI)uses domain adversarial neural network(DANN)for KLT and long short-term memory(LSTM)as the Baseline BEP *** evaluation is conducted to systematically qualify the effectiveness and applicability of KTL and improved ***-world data from six-type 36 buildings of six types are adopted to evaluate the performance of KTL and KTL-DIL in data-driven BEP tasks considering factors like the model increment time interval,the available target and source building data *** with LSTM,results indicate that KTL(LSTM-DANN)and the proposed KTL-DIL(LSTM-DANN-CDI)can significantly improve the BEP performance for new buildings with limited *** with the pure KTL strategy LSTM-DANN,the improved KTL-DIL strategy LSTM-DANN-CDI has better prediction performance with an average performance improvement ratio of 60%.

BACKGROUND Bronchial asthma is closely related to the occurrence of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD)in children,which can easily have adverse effects on children’s learning and social *** have shown that childhood asthma can increase the risk of ADHD and the core symptoms of *** with children with ADHD alone,children with asthma and ADHD are more likely to show high levels of hyperactivity,hyperactive-impulsive and other externalizing behaviors and anxiety in clinical practice and have more symptoms of somatization and emotional *** To explore the relationship between ADHD in children and bronchial asthma and to analyze its influencing *** This retrospective cohort study was conducted at Dongying People's Hospital from September 2018 to August *** diagnosed with ADHD at this hospital were selected as the ADHD group,while healthy children without ADHD who underwent physical examinations during the same period served as the control *** and parental data were collected for all participating children,and multivariate logistic regression analysis was employed to identify risk factors for comorbid asthma in children with *** differences were detected between the ADHD group and the control group in terms of family history ofasthma and allergic diseases, maternal complications during pregnancy, maternal use of asthma and allergymedications during pregnancy, maternal anxiety and depression during pregnancy, and parental relationshipstatus (P < 0.05). Out of the 183 children in the ADHD group, 25 had comorbid asthma, resulting in a comorbidityrate of 13.66% (25/183), compared to the comorbidity rate of 2.91% (16/549) among the 549 children in the controlgroup. Wave Attenuation and Turbulence Driven by Submerged Vegetation Under Current-Wave Flow

A set of laboratory experiments are carried out to investigate the effect of following/opposing currents on wave *** vegetation canopies with aligned and staggered configurations were tested under the condition of various regular wave heights and current velocities,with the constant water depth being 0.60 m to create the desired submerged *** show that the vegetation-induced wave dissipation is enhanced with the increasing incident wave height.A larger velocity magnititude leads to a greater wave height attenuation for both following and opposing current ***,there is a strong positive linear correlation between the damping coefficientβand the relative wave height H_(0)/h,especially for pure wave *** the velocity profile,the distributions of U_(min)and U_(max)show different patterns under combined wave and *** time-averaged turbulent kinetic energy(TKE)vary little under pure wave and U_(c)=±0.05 m/s *** the increase of flow velocity amplitude,the time-averaged TKE shows a particularly pronounced increase trend at the top of the *** vegetation drag coefficients are obtained by a calibration *** empirical relations of drag coefficient with Reynolds and Keulegane-Carpenter numbers are proposed to further understand the wave-current-vegetation interaction mechanism.
