Magnesium(Mg)alloys have been extensively used in various fields,such as aerospace,automobile,electronics,and biomedical industries,due to their high specific strength and stiff ness,excellent vibration absorption,electromagnetic shielding eff ect,good machinability,and *** stir processing(FSP)is a severe plastic deformation technique,based on the principle of friction stir *** addition to introducing the basic principle and advantages of FSP,this paper reviews the studies of FSP in the modification of the cast structure,superplastic deformation behavior,preparation of finegrained Mg alloys and Mg-based surface composites,and additive *** not only refines,homogenizes,and densifies the microstructure,but also eliminates the cast microstructure defects,breaks up the brittle and network-like phases,and prepares fine-grained,ultrafine-,and nano-grained Mg ***,FSP significantly improves the comprehensive mechanical properties of the alloys and achieves low-temperature and/or high strain rate ***,FSP can produce particle-and fiber-reinforced Mg-based surface *** a promising additive manufacturing technique of light metals,FSP enables the additive manufacturing of Mg ***,we prospect the future research direction and application with friction stir processed Mg alloys.

To evaluate whether the polygenic profile modifies the development of sporadic Alzheimer’s disease(sAD)and pathological biomarkers in cerebrospinal fluid(CSF),462 sAD patients and 463 age-matched cognitively normal(CN)controls were genotyped for 35 singlenucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)that are significantly associated with ***,the alleles found to be associated with sAD were used to build polygenic risk score(PRS)models to represent the genetic *** operating characteristic(ROC)analyses and the Cox proportional hazards model were used to evaluate the predictive value of PRS for the sAD risk and age at *** measured the CSF levels of Aβ42,Aβ42/Aβ40,total tau(T-tau),and phosphorylated tau(P-tau)in a subgroup(60 sAD and 200 CN participants),and analyzed their relationships with the *** found that 14 SNPs,including SNPs in the APOE,BIN1,CD33,EPHA1,SORL1,and TOMM40 genes,were associated with sAD risk in our *** PRS models built with these SNPs showed potential for discriminating sAD patients from CN controls,and were able to predict the incidence rate of sAD and age at ***,the PRSs were correlated with the CSF levels of Aβ42,Aβ42/Aβ40,T-tau,and *** study suggests that PRS models hold promise for assessing the genetic risk and development of *** genetic risk profiles vary among populations,large-scale genome-wide sequencing studies are urgently needed to identify the genetic risk loci of sAD in Chinese populations to build accurate PRS models for clinical practice.

Dementia is increasing dramatically and imposes a huge burden on society. To date, there is a lack of data on the health status of patients with dementia in China. In an attempt to investigate the comorbidity burden of dementia patients in China at the national level, we enrolled 2,938 patients with Alzheimer＇s disease（AD）, vascular dementia（Va D）, or other types of dementia, who were admitted to tertiary hospitals in seven regions of China from January2003 to December 2012. The Charlson Comorbidity Index（CCI） was used to evaluate the comorbidity burden of the patients with dementia. Among these patients, 53.4% had AD, 26.3% had Va D, and 20.3% had other types of dementia. The CCI was 3.0 ± 1.9 for all patients,3.4 ± 1.8 for those with Va D, and 3.0 ± 2.1 for those with AD. The CCI increased with age in all patients, andthe length of hospital stay and daily expenses rose with age and CCI. Males had a higher CCI and a longer stay than females. Moreover, patients admitted in the last 5 years of the study had a higher CCI than those admitted in the first 5 years. We found that the comorbidity burden of patients with dementia is heavy. These findings provide a better understanding of the overall health status of dementia patients, and help to increase the awareness of clinicians and policy-makers to improve medical care for patients.

AIM To demonstrate that specific bacteria might release bacterial extracellular DNA(e DNA) to exert immunomodulatory functions in the mouse small *** Extracellular DNA was extracted using phosphate buffered saline with 0.5 mmol/L dithiothreitol combined with two phenol extractions. TOTO-1 iodide, a cell-impermeant and high-affinity nucleic acid stain, was used to confirm the existence of e DNA in the mucus layers of the small intestineand colon in healthy Male C57 BL/6 mice. Composition difference of e DNA and intracellular DNA(i DNA) of the small intestinal mucus was studied by Illumina sequencing and terminal restriction fragment length polymorphism(T-RFLP). Stimulation of cytokine production by e DNA was studied in RAW264.7 cells in *** TOTO-1 iodide staining confirmed existence of e DNA in loose mucus layer of the mouse colon and thin surface mucus layer of the small intestine. Illumina sequencing analysis and T-RFLP revealed that the composition of the e DNA in the small intestinal mucus was significantly different from that of the i DNA of the small intestinal mucus bacteria. Illumina Miseq sequencing showed that the e DNA sequences came mainly from Gram-negative bacteria of Bacteroidales S24-7. By contrast, predominant bacteria of the small intestinal flora comprised Grampositive bacteria. Both e DNA and i DNA were added to native or lipopolysaccharide-stimulated Raw267.4 macrophages, respectively. The e DNA induced significantly lower tumor necrosis factor-α/interleukin-10(IL-10) and IL-6/IL-10 ratios than i DNA, suggesting the predominance for maintaining immune homeostasis of the *** Our results indicated that degraded bacterial genomic DNA was mainly released by Gram-negative bacteria, especially Bacteroidales-S24-7 and Stenotrophomonas genus in gut mucus of mice. They decreased pro-inflammatory activity compared to total gut flora genomic DNA.

The neutron capture cross sections(n,γ)of bromine were obtained using the time-of-flight technique at the Back-n facility of the China Spallation Neutron ***γ-rays originating from neutron-induced capture events were detected using four C_(6)D_(6) *** pulse-height weighting technique and double-bunch unfolding method based on Bayesian theory were used in the data *** deductions,normalization,and corrections were carefully considered to obtain reliable measurement *** multilevel R-matrix Bayesian code SAMMY was used to extract the resonance parameters in the resolved resonance region(RRR).The average cross sections in the unresolved resonance region(URR)were obtained from 10 to 400 *** experimental results were compared with data from several evaluated libraries and previous experi-ments in the RRR and *** TALYS code was used to describe the average cross sections in the *** astrophysical Maxwell average cross sections(MACSs)of ^(79,81)Br from kT=5 to 100 keV were calculated over a sufficiently wide range of neutron *** a thermal energy of kT=30 keV,the MACS value for ^(79)Br 682±68 mb was in good agreement with the KADoNiS v1.0 recommended *** contrast,the value of 293±29 mb for ^(81)Br was substantially higher than that of the evaluated database and the KADoNiS v1.0 recommended value.

神经元能够将不同时空模式的突触输入转化为时序精确的动作电位输出,这种灵活、可靠的信息编码方式是神经集群在动态环境或特定任务下产生所需活动模式的重要基础。动作电位的产生遵循全或无规律,只有当细胞膜电压达到放电阈值时,神经元才产生动作电位。放电阈值在细胞内和细胞间具有高度可变性,具体动态依赖于刺激输入和放电历史。特别是,放电阈值对动作电位起始前的膜电压变化十分敏感,这种状态依赖性产生的生物物理根源包括Na+失活和K+激活。在绝大多数神经元中,动作电位的触发位置是轴突起始端,这个位置处的阈值可变性是决定神经元对时空输入转化规律的关键因素。但是,电生理实验中动作电位的记录位置却通常是胞体或近端树突,此处的阈值可变性高于轴突起始端,而其产生的重要根源是轴突动作电位的反向传播。基于胞体测量的相关研究显示,放电阈值动态能够增强神经元的时间编码、特征选择、增益调控和同时侦测能力。本文首先介绍放电阈值的概念及量化方法,然后详细梳理近年来国内外关于放电阈值可变性及产生根源的研究进展,在此基础上归纳总结放电阈值可变性对神经元编码的重要性,最后对未来放电阈值的研究方向进行展望。

To the Editor:Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease(CMT)encompasses a genetically heterogeneous group of inherited neuropathies,characterized by progressive distal muscle weakness and atrophy,sensory deficits,impaired tendon reflexes,and foot deformities.[1]To date,more than 80 causative genes have been identified in CMT patients,associated with either autosomal dominant or recessive inheritance,or X-linked *** traditional classification of CMT was based on peripheral neuropathy type,as determined by nerve conduction *** more causative genes were identified and the overlap of neuropathy phenotypes became apparent,the traditional classification system proved unwieldy and ***,CMT needs to be distinguished from several entities including systemic disorders with neuropathy and other types of hereditary *** clinical practice,overlap of phenotypes can present a major challenge in reaching the correct *** study aimed to investigate the genetic profile in a cohort of Chinese CMT patients and evaluate the role of genetic testing in the diagnosis and subtyping of CMT.

Quantum technology establishes a foundation for secure communication via quantum key distribution （QKD）. In the last two decades, the rapid development of QKD makes a global quantum communication network feasible. In order to construct this network, it is economical to consider small-sized and low-cost QKD payloads, which can be assembled on satellites with different sizes, such as space stations. Here we report an experimental demonstration of space-to-ground QKD using a small-sized payload, from Tiangong-2 space lab to Nanshan ground station. The 57.9-kg payload integrates a tracking system, a QKD transmitter along with modules for synchronization, and a laser communication transmitter. In the space lab, a 50MHz vacuum＋weak decoy-state optical source is sent through a reflective telescope with an aperture of 200mm. On the ground station, a telescope with an aperture of 1200mm collects the signal photons. A stable and high-transmittance communication channel is set up with a high-precision bidirectional tracking system, a polarization compensation module, and a synchronization system. When the quantum link is successfully established, we obtain a key rate over 100bps with a communication distance up to 719km. Together with our recent development of QKD in daylight, the present demonstration paves the way towards a practical satellite-constellation-based global quantum secure network with small-sized QKD payloads.
