We report the discovery of a peculiar X-ray transient,EP240408a,by Einstein Probe （EP） and follow-up studies made with EP,Swift,NICER,GROND,ATCA and other ground-based multiwavelength *** new transient was first detected with Wide-field X-ray Telescope （WXT） on board EP on April 8th,2024,manifested in an intense yet brief X-ray flare lasting for *** flare reached a peak flux of 3.9×10-9erg cm-2s-1in 0.5-4 ke V,～300 times brighter than the underlying X-ray emission detected throughout the *** and more precise follow-up observations by EP/FXT,Swift and NICER confirmed the finding of this new *** X-ray spectrum is non-thermal in 0.5-10 ke V,with a power-law photon index varying *** X-ray light curve shows a plateau lasting for ～4 d,followed by a steep decay till becoming undetectable ～10 d after the initial *** on its temporal property and constraints from previous EP observations,an unusual timescale in the range of 7-23 d is found for EP240408a,which is intermediate between the commonly found fast and long-term *** counterparts have been found in optical and near-infrared,with the earliest observation at 17 h after the initial X-ray detection,suggestive of intrinsically weak emission in these *** demonstrate that the remarkable properties of EP240408a are inconsistent with any of the transient types known so far,by comparison with,in particular,jetted tidal disruption events,gamma-ray bursts,X-ray binaries and fast blue optical *** nature of EP240408a thus remains an *** suggest that EP240408a may represent a new type of transients with intermediate timescales of the order of～10 *** detection and follow-ups of more of such objects are essential for revealing their origin.

This paper describes the NiiMi process designed to treat landscape water. The main aim of the research was to investigate the feasibility of NiiMi for removing organic and nutriment materials from landscape water. During the batch-scale NiiMi operation, the removal rates of color ranged from 66.7%o-80% , of turbidity from 31.7%-89.3%o, of chemical oxygen demand （COD） from 7%-36.5%, of total phosphor （TP） from 43%-84.2%, of soluble phosphate from 42.9%-100%, of total nitrogen （TN） from 4.2%-46.7%, and of NH4^＋-N from 39.3%-100% at the hydraulic loading of 0.2 m^3/（m^2·d）. Results showed that the removal efficiencies of COD, TP, soluble phosphate and TN decreased with the decline in the temperature. The NiiMi process had a strong shock loading ability for the removal of the organics, turbidity, TP, soluble phosphate, TN and NH4^＋-N. Three sodium chloride tracer studies were conducted, labeled as TS 1, TS2, and TS3, respectively. The mean hydraulic retention times （mean HRTs） were 31 h and 28 h for TSI and TS2, respectively, indicating the occurrence of a dead zone volume of 12% and 20% for TS 1 and TS2, respectively. TS 1 and TS2 displayed the occurrence of short-circuiting in the NiiMi system. The comparison results between TS1 and TS2 were further confirmed in the values obtained for some indicators, such as volumetric efficiency （e）, short-circuiting （S）, hydraulic efficiency （2） and number of continuously stirred tank reactors （N）.

The efficient transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome-2 coronavirus(SARS-CoV-2)from patients to health care workers or family members has been a worrisome and prominent feature of the ongoing *** the basis of clinical practice and in-vitro studies,we postulated that post-exposure prophylaxis(PEP)using Arbidol is associated with decreased infection among individuals exposed to confirmed cases of COVID-19 *** conducted a retrospective cohort study on family members and health care workers who were exposed to patients confirmed to have SARS-CoV-2 infection by real-time RT-PCR and chest computed tomography(CT)from January 1 to January 16,*** last follow-up date was Feb.26,*** emergence of fever and/or respiratory symptoms after exposure to the primary case was *** correlations between post-exposure prophylaxis and infection in household contacts and health care workers were respectively analyzed.A total of 66 members in 27 families and 124 health care workers had evidence of close exposure to patients with confirmed *** Cox regression based on the data of the family members and health care workers with Arbidol or not showed that Arbidol PEP was a protective factor against the development of COVID-19(HR 0.025,95%CI 0.003-0.209,P=0.0006 for family members and HR 0.056,95%CI 0.005-0.662,P=0.0221 for health care workers).Our findings suggest Arbidol could reduce the infection risk of the novel coronavirus in hospital and family *** treatment should be promoted for PEP use and should be the subject of further investigation.

The rice stem borer(RSB),Chilo suppressalis,a notorious rice pest in China,has evolved a high resistance level to commonly used ***,a new anthranilic diamide insecticide,effectively controls multiple pests,including ***,the potential resistance risk of RSB to tetraniliprole is still *** this study,the tetraniliprole-selection(Tet-R)strain was obtained through 10 continuous generations of selection with tetraniliprole 30%lethal concentration(LC_(30)).The realized heritability(h^(2))of the Tet-R strain was 0.387,indicating that resistance of RSB to tetraniliprole developed rapidly under the continuous selection of *** Tet-R strain had a high fitness cost(relative fitness=0.53).We established the susceptibility baseline of RSB to tetraniliprole(lethal concentration at LC_(50)=0.727 mg/L)and investigated the resistance level of 6 field populations to *** tested strains that had resistance to chlorantraniliprole exhibited moderate-to high-level resistance to tetraniliprole(resistance ratio=27.7-806.8).Detection of ryanodine receptor(RyR)mutations showed that the Y4667C,Y4667D,I4758M,and Y4891F mutations were present in tested RSB field *** mutations were responsible for the cross-resistance between tetraniliprole and ***,the clustered regularly interspaced palindromic repeats(CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 9-mediated genome-modified flies were used to study the contribution of RyR mutations to tetraniliprole *** order of contribution of a single RyR mutation to tetraniliprole resistance was Y4667D>G4915E>Y4667C~~I4758M>*** addition,the I4758M and Y4667C double mutations conferred higher tetraniliprole resistance than single Y4667C *** results can guide resistance management practices for diamides in RSB and other arthropods.

Hyperlink extraction technology,by virtue of its remarkable advantage of decreasing the use of chemicals in multi-component separation,has been extensively employed in rare earth separation industry in *** hyperlink processes,non-barren extracting solvent and scrubbing agent solution which contain the component(s)involved in starting feed are employed in order to save both alkali for saponification and acid for *** amount of extracting solvent(denoted as S_(min))and that of scrubbing agent solution(denoted as W_(min))are important parameters to determine the consumption amounts of alkali and acid for a given countercurrent extraction *** article therefore discusses the influence of using non-barren extracting solvent and scrubbing agent solution on S_(min) and W_(min) of an(A_(1)A_(2)…A_(t−1))/(A_(2)A_(3)…A_(t))*** equations for S_(min) and W_(min) are derived,and the variation of the composition of final raffinate as well as that of final extract are determined,which will provide a valuable guidance for the design of hyperlink extraction processes of multi-component separation,such as rare earths separation.

The near-Earth(within~100 pc)supernova explosions in the past several million years can cause the global deposition of radioactive elements(e.g.,60Fe)on *** remnants of such supernovae are too old to be easily *** is therefore of great interest to search for million-year-old near-Earth neutron stars or black holes,the products of ***,neutron stars and black holes are challenging to find even in our Solar neighbourhood if they are not radio pulsars or X-ray/γ-ray *** we report the discovery of one of the nearest(127.7±0.3 pc)neutron star candidates in a detached single-lined spectroscopic binary LAMOST J235456.73+335625.9(hereafter J2354).Utilizing the time-resolved ground-based spectroscopy and space photometry,we find that J2354 hosts an unseen compact object with M_(inv)being 1.4-1.6 M_(⊙).The follow-up Swift ultraviolet(UV)and X-ray observations suggest that the UV and X-ray emission is produced by the visible star rather than the compact ***,J2354 probably harbours a neutron star rather than a hot ultramassive white ***-hour exceptionally sensitive radio follow-up observations with Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope fail to reveal any pulsating radio signals at the 6σflux upper limit of 12.5μ***,the neutron star candidate in J2354 can only be revealed via our time-resolved ***,the distance between J2354 and our Earth can be as close as~50 pc around 2.5 million years(Myrs)ago,as revealed by the Gaia *** discovery demonstrates a promising way to unveil the hidden near-Earth neutron stars in binaries by exploring the optical time domain,thereby facilitating understanding of the metal-enrichment history in our Solar neighbourhood.

BACKGROUND Noninvasive biomarkers have been developed to predict hepatitis B virus(HBV)related fibrosis owing to the significant limitations of liver *** serum biomarkers and imaging techniques have shown promising results and may improve the evaluation of liver ***,most of the previous studies focused on the diagnostic effects of various imaging techniques on fibrosis in all chronic liver *** To compare the performance of common imaging methods and serum biomarkers for prediction of significant fibrosis caused only by HBV *** A systematic review was conducted on the records available in PubMed,EMBASE,and the Cochrane Library electronic databases until December *** systematically assessed the effectiveness of two serum biomarkers and three imagine techniques in predicting significant fibrosis solely caused by HBV *** serum biomarkers included aspartate aminotransferase-to-platelet ratio index(APRI)and fibrosis index based on the 4 factors(FIB-4).The three imaging techniques included acoustic radiation force impulse(ARFI),FibroScan,and magnetic resonance elastography(MRE).Three parameters,the area under the summary receiver operating characteristic curve(AUSROC),the summary diagnostic odds ratio,and the summary sensitivity and specificity,were used to examine the accuracy of all tests for liver *** Out of 2831 articles evaluated for eligibility,204 satisfied the predetermined inclusion criteria for this current ***,our final data contained 81 *** AUSROCs of serum biomarkers of APRI and FIB-4 were both *** imaging techniques(ARFI,FibroScan,and MRE),the areas were 0.89,0.83,and 0.97,*** heterogeneities of ARFI and FibroScan were statistically significant(I2>50%).The publication bias was not observed in any of the serum biomarkers or imaging *** These five methods have attained an acceptable level of diagnostic *** techniques,

Purpurolides D–F(1–3),three new polyoxygenated bergamotanes bearing a 6/4/5/5 tetracyclic ring system,were isolated from the endophytic fungus Penicillium purpurogenum IMM *** structures were unambiguously elucidated based on extensive spectroscopic data analyses,13 C NMR chemical shifts calculations coupled with the DP4+probability method,and the calculated and experimental electronic circular dichroism(ECD)*** 1–3 showed significant inhibitory activity against pancreatic lipase(PL).The result highlights that the presence of 3-hydroxylated decanoic acid moiety at C-14 is important for increasing the inhibition potency against PL.

The Square Kilometre Array(SKA) will be the world’s largest synthesis radio telescope, which is designed to answer major scientific questions such as those relating to the cosmic origin and fundamental forces in the universe. With the SKA entering into the phase of pre-construction, more than 100 institutes in about 20 countries including China have been involved in the associated key technology *** Dish Verification Antenna China(DVA-C) is a concept prototype which has been built to meet the requirements of the SKA’s scientific goals. It utilizes a unique skin-and-rib structure with single-piece panel reflectors. This paper presents details on the design and measured performances of DVA-C, as well as the preliminary observational results. Current applications of the DVA-C are also introduced.
