Wave Attenuation Performance and the Influencing Factors of A Lower Arc-Plate Breakwater

Comprehensive experimental and numerical studies have been undertaken to investigate wave energy dissipation performance and main influencing factors of a lower arc-plate breakwater. The numerical model, which considers nonlinear interactions between waves and the arc-plate breakwater, has been constructed by using the velocity wave- generating method, the volume of fluid (VOF) method and the finite volume method. The results show that the relative width, relative height and relative submergence of the breakwater are three main influencing factors and have significant influence on wave energy dissipation of the lower arc-plate open breakwater. The transmission coefficient is found to decrease with the increasing relative width, and the minimum transmission coefficient is 0.15 when the relative width is 0.45. The reflection coefficient is found to vary slightly with the relative width, and the maximum reflection coefficient is 0.53 when the relative width is 0.45. The transmission and reflection coefficients are shown to increase with the relative wave height for approximately 85% of the experimental tests when the relative width is 0.19 0.45. The transmission coefficients at relative submergences of 0.04, 0.02 and 0 are clearly shown to be greater than those at relative submergences of 0.02 and 0.04, while the reflection coefficient exhibits the opposite relationship. After the wave interacts with the lower arc-plate breakwater, the wave energy is mainly converted into transmission, reflection and dissipation energies. The wave attenuation performance is clearly weakened for waves with greater heights and longer periods.

The Yellow River is well known as a sediment-laden river, which is the main reason that it cannot be controlled as easily as other rivers. Many researchers, such as Qian Ning et al., have found that the sediment load of the Yellow River comes mainly from the sandy and gritty area of the Loess Plateau. Therefore, it is very important to simulate the sediment yield in this area. This paper proposes a method to compute the sediment production in the sandy and gritty area based on the digital watershed model. The suggested model is calibrated and validated in the Chabagou basin, which is a small catchment in the study area. Finally, the model simulates the sediment yield of the sandy and gritty area in 1967, 1978, 1983, 1994 and 1997, which represents a high water and high sediment year, a mean water and mean sediment year, a high water and low sediment year, a low water and high sediment year, and a low water and low sediment year separately. The simulation results, including the runoff depth and erosion modulus, can well explain the "low water and high sediment" phenomena in the Yellow River basin. The total amount of the sediment production and its distribution generated by the model is very useful for water and soil conservation in the sandy and gritty area of the Loess Plateau.

A simulation model for two-roll cross wedge rolling （CWR） was presented by using three-dimensional rigid-plastic finite element method （FEM）. The whole forming process of CWR, including knifing zone, guiding zone, stretching zone, and sizing zone, was simulated using the model in which dynamic adaptive remeshing technology for tetrahedral solid elements was used to fix element distortion. Based on the simulation results, the distributions of metal flow field, strain field, and damage field, and the geometry of the workpiece＇s end were analyzed. These results could provide theoretical guidance for realizing net shaping and reasonable design of tools.

A rotating gauge method is used to measure the span between two spheres with high precision in determination of the gravitational constant G.A rectangular gauge block slightly shorter than the span is located horizontally between two spheres,and the angle between two symmetric bounding points during rotation can be determined by measuring the shift of a laser beam passing through an optical plate fixed on the gauge *** results show that the uncertainty in the determination of the span between the two spheres is less than 0.5μm.

Turbulent agglomeration is viewed as a promising technology for enhancing fine particle removal *** better understand particle transport,agglomeration behaviors,and fluid-particle interactions,we numerically explored these phenomena under cylindrical vortex wake influence using a coupled large eddy simulation and discrete element method（LES-DEM） *** validity of the LES approach was verified by comparison with available direct numerical simulation（DNS） *** adopted the Johnson-Kendall-Roberts（JKR） contact model for particle-particle *** particle dispersion and agglomeration characteristics of particles with different diameters（dp=2-20 μm） in the laminar and transition of shear layer（TrSL） flow regimes were *** particles were concentrated at the vortex centers,while larger particles accumulated around the *** agglomeration efficiency exhibited an M-shaped profile spanwise（y-direction）.With increasing Reynolds number,the agglomeration efficiency and turbulence intensity *** particle agglomeration efficiency peaks at a certain Reynolds ***,at higher Reynolds numbers,reducing the residence time of particles in the flow field decreases the agglomeration efficiency.

Objective:To explore whether casticin(CAS)suppresses stemness in cancer stem-like cells(CSLCs)obtained from human cervical cancer(CCSLCs)and the underlying ***:Spheres from He La and Ca Ski cells were used as *** methyltransferase 1(DNMT1)activity and m RNA levels,self-renewal capability(Nanog and Sox2),and cancer stem cell markers(CD133 and CD44)were detected by a colorimetric DNMT activity/inhibition assay kit,quantitative real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction,sphere and colony formation assays,and immunoblot,*** and overexpression of DNMT1 by transfection with sh RNA and c DNA,respectively,were performed to explore the mechanism for action of CAS(0,10,30,and 100 nmol/L).Results:DNMT1 activity was increased in CCSLCs compared with He La and Ca Ski cells(Plities,and lower CD133,CD44,Nanog and Sox2 protein expressions(P<0.05).Conversely,overexpression of DNMT1 in He La cells exhibited the oppositive ***,CAS significantly reduced DNMT1 activity and transcription levels as well as stemness in He La-derived CCSLCs(P<0.05).Interestingly,DNMT1 knockdown enhanced the inhibitory effect of CAS on *** expected,DNMT1 overexpression reversed the inhibitory effect of CAS on stemness in He La ***:CAS effectively inhibits stemness in CCSLCs through suppression of DNMT1 activation,suggesting that CAS acts as a promising preventive and therapeutic candidate in cervical cancer.

The addition of silicon(Si)and organic fertilizers to soil conditioners can inhibit the transfer of heavy metal ions from soil to ***,it is not clear how Si and organic fertilizers affect soil properties and the micro-ecological environment and thereby reduce cadmium(Cd)accumulation in *** this study,the effects of L-type soil conditioners containing Si and organic fertilizers on bacterial and fungal community diversity,soil pH,organic matter,and available Si were analyzed with field experiments at two sites in liuzhou City and Hezhou City,respectively,in Guangxi,*** the increase of Si and organic fertilizer content in soil conditioner,rice yield respectively increased by 16.8–25.8 and 6.8–13.1%,and rice Cd content decreased significantly by 8.2–21.1 and 10.8–40.6%,respectively,at the two experimental *** microbiome analysis showed that the increase in abundance of Firmicutes and Actinobacteriota bacteria associated with Cd adsorption and sequestration,and Basidiomycota fungal populations associated with degradation of macromolecules favored the inhibition of soil Cd activity(soil exchangeable Cd decreased by 14.4–14.8 and 18.1–20.6%).This was associated with an increase in organic matter and Si content caused by applying soil *** conclusion,L-type soil conditioners,rich in Si and organic fertilizer,can reduce soil Cd bioavailability by regulating the dominant Cd passivating flora in the soil and ultimately reduce Cd accumulation in rice.

Demyelination and remyelination have been major focal points in the study of peripheral nerve regeneration following peripheral nerve ***,the gene regulatory network of regenerated myelin differs from that of native *** of enhancer of zeste homolog 2(EZH2)hinders the differentiation,maturation,and myelination of Schwann cells in *** further determine the role of EZH2 in myelination and recovery post-peripheral nerve injury,conditional knockout mice lacking Ezh2 in Schwann cells(Ezh2^(fl/fl);Dhh-Cre and Ezh2^(fl/fl);Mpz-Cre)were *** results show that a significant proportion of axons in the sciatic nerve of Ezh2-depleted mice remain *** highlights the crucial role of Ezh2 in initiating Schwann cell ***,we observed that 21 days after inducing a sciatic nerve crush injury in these mice,most axons had remyelinated at the injury site in the control nerve,while Ezh2^(fl/fl);Mpz-Cre mice had significantly fewer remyelinated axons compared with their wild-type *** suggests that the absence of Ezh2 in Schwann cells impairs myelin formation and *** conclusion,EZH2 has emerged as a pivotal regulatory factor in the process of demyelination and myelin regeneration following peripheral nerve *** EZH2 activity during these processes may offer a promising therapeutic target for the treatment of peripheral nerve injuries.
