Vibration Control of A Flexible Marine Riser System Subject to Input Dead Zone and Extraneous Disturbances

An observer-based adaptive backstepping boundary control is proposed for vibration control of flexible offshore riser systems with unknown nonlinear input dead zone and uncertain environmental disturbances.The control algorithm can update the control law online through real-time data to make the controller adapt to the environment and improve the control precision.Specifically,based on the adaptive backstepping framework,virtual control laws and Lyapunov functions are designed for each subsystem.Three direction interference observers are designed to track the timevarying boundary disturbance.On this basis,the inverse of the dead zone and linear state transformation are used to compensate for the original system and eliminate the adverse effects of the dead zone.In addition,the stability of the closed-loop system is proven by Lyapunov stability theory.All the system states are bounded,and the vibration offset of the riser converges to a small area of the initial position.Finally,four examples of flexible marine risers are simulated in MATLAB to verify the effectiveness of the proposed controller.

Although disinfection byproducts(DBPs) in drinking water have been suggested as a cancer causing factor, the causative compounds have not yet been clarified. In this study, we used liquid chromatography quadrupole-time-of-flight spectrometry(LC-QTOF MS) to identify the unknown disinfection byproducts(DBPs) in drinking water produced from Taihu Lake source water, which is known as a convergence point for the anthropogenic pollutants discharged from intensive industrial activities in the surrounding regions. In total, 91 formulas of DBPs were discovered through LC-QTOF MS nontarget screen, 81 of which have not yet been reported. Among the 91 molecules, 56 only contain bromine, 15 only contain chlorine and 20 DBPs have both bromine and chlorine atoms. Finally, five DBPs including 2,4,6-tribromophenol, 2,6-dibromo-4-chlorophenol, 2,6-dichloro-4-bromophenol, 4-bromo-2,6-di-tert-butylphenol and 3,6-dibromocarbazole were confirmed using standards. The former three compounds mainly formed in the predisinfection step(maximum concentration, 0.2-2.6 μg/L), while the latter two formed in the disinfection step(maximum concentration, 18.2-33.6 ng/L). In addition, 19 possible precursors of the discovered DBPs were detected, with the aromatic compounds being a major group. 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol as the precursor of 4-bromo-2,6-di-tert-butylphenol was confirmed with standard, with a concentration of 20.3 μg/L in raw water. The results of this study show that brominated DBPs which are possibly formed from industrial pollutants are relevant DBP species in drinking water produced form Taihu source water, suggesting protection of Taihu Lake source water is important to control the DBP risks.

The design and development of new advanced superwetting porous membranes with antioil-fouling performance are still rare and highly desirable because of their potential widespread applications.A metallic phosphate nanoflower-covered mesh membrane with superhydrophilic and unprecedented antioil-fouling properties is prepared by an exceptionally simple and effective in-situ solution corrosion method.As demonstrated,the outstanding antioil-fouling property of the resulting mesh membrane is connected with the special phosphate group and the three-dimensional(3 D) nanoflower structure.Owing to the antioil-fouling property,upon to water,the oil-fouled mesh membrane can keep the surface free of various kinds of oils,including viscous crude oil to light n-hexane.Thanks to its unprecedented self-cleaning property,the superhydrophilic mesh membrane can effectively separate different oil/water mixtures without prior wetted by water,exhibiting great potential for practical spilled oil remediation.

With the increasing intelligence and integration,a great number of two-valued variables(generally stored in the form of 0 or 1)often exist in large-scale industrial processes.However,these variables cannot be effectively handled by traditional monitoring methods such as linear discriminant analysis(LDA),principal component analysis(PCA)and partial least square(PLS)analysis.Recently,a mixed hidden naive Bayesian model(MHNBM)is developed for the first time to utilize both two-valued and continuous variables for abnormality monitoring.Although the MHNBM is effective,it still has some shortcomings that need to be improved.For the MHNBM,the variables with greater correlation to other variables have greater weights,which can not guarantee greater weights are assigned to the more discriminating variables.In addition,the conditional P(x j|x j′,y=k)probability must be computed based on historical data.When the training data is scarce,the conditional probability between continuous variables tends to be uniformly distributed,which affects the performance of MHNBM.Here a novel feature weighted mixed naive Bayes model(FWMNBM)is developed to overcome the above shortcomings.For the FWMNBM,the variables that are more correlated to the class have greater weights,which makes the more discriminating variables contribute more to the model.At the same time,FWMNBM does not have to calculate the conditional probability between variables,thus it is less restricted by the number of training data samples.Compared with the MHNBM,the FWMNBM has better performance,and its effectiveness is validated through numerical cases of a simulation example and a practical case of the Zhoushan thermal power plant(ZTPP),China.

Mold electromagnetic stirring technology for optimizing the flow of molten steel is now widely used in the continuous casting production process of high-quality steels.However,studies on the case that the center of the electromagnetic stirrer is located outside the mold have not been reported.Herein,the effect of the electromagnetic stirrer centered outside the mold on the steel flow field was studied in detail by means of numerical simulations.A Gauss meter was used to measure the magnetic induction intensity at different positions,currents,and frequencies.The test results were compared with the simulation results of electromagnetic stirring to calibrate and verify the accuracy of the electromagnetic model.Then,electromagnetic force was introduced into the flow field model as a source term to study its effect on the flow field under anomalous conditions.The results show that when the center of the electromagnetic stirrer is located outside the mold,the magnetic field strength is about twice as strong as that located inside the mold.This also leads to an increase in the flow velocity near the electromagnetic stirrer.As a result,the optimal electromagnetic stirring parameters(200 A,2.5 Hz)were specified when the center of the electromagnetic stirrer is located outside the mold.

Evaluation on Effectiveness and Safety of Chinese Herbs inTreatment of Sub-health: A Systematic Review andMeta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Chinese herbs in the treatment of sub-health systematical y. Methods: Nine databases were systematicaly and extensively searched to col ect randomized control ed trials(RCTs) about Chinese herbs in the treatment of sub-health. The outcomes included overal effective rate, main symptoms, quality of life, etc. literature screening, data extraction and quality assessment were conducted according to Cochrane Handbook 5.1. Meta-analysis was conducted to the included literature with Review Manager Software.Results: Seventy-two studies involving 9,296 patients with sub-health were included with 4,908 patients in experimental groups and 4,387 patients in control groups. The overal quality of included clinical research was not high. In the aspect of improving overall effective rate, relieving main symptoms, Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI) score, Athens Insomnia Scale(AIS) score, Fatigue Scale-14(FS-14), Cornel Medical Index(CMI) score and discontinuation rate, the effects of experimental groups were better than that of control groups. According to available research reports, adverse reactions in Chinese herb groups were mainly mild gastrointestinal symptoms, which did not affect the treatment.Conclusion: Chinese herbs have a curative effect in the treatment of sub-health. However, there are no clear criteria for diagnosis and curative effectiveness judgment global y, which would affect the accuracy of curative effect evaluation.

Radiotherapy(RT)is one of the most feasible and routinely used therapeutic modalities for treating malignant tumors.In particular,immune responses triggered by RT,known as radio-immunotherapy,can partially inhibit the growth of distantly spreading tumors and recurrent tumors.How-ever,the safety and efficacy of radio-immunotherapy is impeded by the radio-resistance and poor immu-nogenicity of tumor.Herein,we report oxaliplatin(IV)-iron bimetallic nanoparticles(OXA/Fe NPs)as cascade sensitizing amplifiers for low-dose and robust radio-immunotherapy.The OXA/Fe NPs exhibit tumor-specific accumulation and activation of OXA(I)and Fe^(2+)in response to the reductive and acidic microenvironment within tumor cells.The cascade reactions of the released metallic drugs can sensitize RT by inducing DNA damage,increasing ROS and O_(2) levels,and amplifying the immunogenic cell death(ICD)effect after RT to facilitate potent immune activation.As a result,OXA/Fe NPs-based low-dose RT triggered a robust immune response and inhibited the distant and metastatic tumors effectively by a strong abscopal effect.Moreover,a long-term immunological memory effect to protect mice from tumor rechal-lenging is observed.Overall,the bimetallic NPs-based cascade sensitizing amplifier system offers an effi-cient radio-immunotherapy regimen that addresses the key challenges.
