Eigenvector-based analysis of cluster synchronization in general complex networks of coupled chaotic oscillators

Whereas topological symmetries have been recognized as crucially important to the exploration of synchronization patterns in complex networks of coupled dynamical oscillators,the identification of the symmetries in largesize complex networks remains as a challenge.Additionally,even though the topological symmetries of a complex network are known,it is still not clear how the system dynamics is transited among different synchronization patterns with respect to the coupling strength of the oscillators.We propose here the framework of eigenvector-based analysis to identify the synchronization patterns in the general complex networks and,incorporating the conventional method of eigenvalue-based analysis,investigate the emergence and transition of the cluster synchronization states.We are able to argue and demonstrate that,without a prior knowledge of the network symmetries,the method is able to predict not only all the cluster synchronization states observable in the network,but also the critical couplings where the states become stable and the sequence of these states in the process of synchronization transition.The efficacy and generality of the proposed method are verified by different network models of coupled chaotic oscillators,including artificial networks of perfect symmetries and empirical networks of non-perfect symmetries.The new framework paves a way to the investigation of synchronization patterns in large-size,general complex networks.

Summary What is already known about this topic?Lung cancer has a high mortality,resulting in a severe disease burden.Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)are definitive carcinogen to human,and occupational exposure to PAHs is associated with lung cancer.What is added by this report?We analyzed the cancer cases from cohort studies on various PAHs exposed workers in China and other countries,calculated the quantitative risk of lung cancer based on meta-analyses,and confirmed the increased risk from lung cancer in selected PAHs exposed occupations.What are the implications for public health practices?There is a clear need to prevent lung cancer on a wide range of PAHs-related occupations in China and around the world.It is crucial to establish guidelines for improving the monitoring on exposure and health promotion in related working environments.

Safety is the foundation of sustainable development in civil aviation.Although catastrophic accidents are rare,indicators of potential incidents and unsafe events frequently materialize.Therefore,a history of unsafe data are considered in predicting safety risks.A deep learning method is adopted for extracting reactions in safety risks.The deep neural network(DNN)model for safety risk prediction is shown to extract complex data characteristics better than a shallow network model.Using extended unsafe data and monthly risk indices,hidden layers and iterations are determined.The effectiveness of DNN is also revealed in comparison with the traditional neural network.Through early risk detection using the method in the paper,airlines and the government can mitigate potential risk and take proactive measures to improve civil aviation safety.

Evaluation of the performance of yielding rockbolts during rockbursts using numerical modeling method

Rockburst;Rockburst damage;Yielding rockbolt;Numerical modeling;UDEC;Underground miningThe assessment of yielding rockbolt performance during rockbursts with actual seismic loading is essential for rock-burst supporting designs.In this paper,two types of yielding rockbolts(D-bolt and Roofex)and the fully resin-grouted rebar bolt are modeled via the"rockbolt"element in universal distinct element code(UDEC)after an exact calibration procedure.A two-dimensional(2D)model of a deep tunnel is built to fully evaluate the performance(e.g.,capacity of energy-absorption and control of rock damage)of yielding and traditional rockbolts based on the simulated rockbursts.The influence of different rockburst magnitudes is also studied.The results suggest that the D-bolt can effectively control and mitigate rockburst damage during a weak rockburst because of its high strength and deformation capacity.The Roofex is too"soft"or"smooth"to limit the movement of ejected rocks and restrain the large deformation,although it has an excellent deformation capacity.The resin-grouted rebar bolt can maintain a high axial force level during rockbursts but is easy to break during dynamic shocks,which fails to control rapid rock bulking or ejection.Three types of rockbolts cannot control the large deformation and mitigate rockburst damage effectively during violent rockbursts.The rockburst damage severity can be significantly reduced by additional support with cable bolts.This study highlights the effectiveness of numerical modeling methods in assessing the complex performance of yielding rockbolts during rockbursts,which can provide some references to improve and optimize the design of rock supporting in burst-prone grounds.

Foreign body reactions induced by macrophages often cause delay or failure of wound healing in the application of tissue engineering scaffolds.This study explores the application of nanosilver(NAg)to reduce foreign body reactions during scaffold transplantation.An NAg hybrid collagen-chitosan scaffold(NAg-CCS)was prepared using the freeze-drying method.The NAg-CCS was implanted on the back of rats to evaluate the effects on foreign body reactions.Skin tissue samples were collected for histological and immunological evaluation at variable intervals.Miniature pigs were used to assess the effects of NAg on skin wound healing.The wounds were photographed,and tissue samples were collected for molecular biological analysis at different time points post-transplantation.NAg-CCS has a porous structure and the results showed that it could release NAg constantly for two weeks.The NAg-CCS group rarely developed a foreign body reaction,while the blank-CCS group showed granulomas or necrosis in the subcutaneous grafting experiment.Both matrix metalloproteinase-1(MMP-1)and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1(TIMP-1)were reduced significantly in the NAg-CCS group.The NAg-CCS group had higher interleukin(IL)-10 and lower IL-6 than the blank CCS group.In the wound healing study,M1 macrophage activation and inflammatory-related proteins inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS),IL-6,and interferon-(IFN-)were inhibited by NAg.In contrast,M2 macrophage activation and proinflammatory proteins(arginase-1),major histocompatibility complex-II(MHC-II),and found in inflammatory zone-1(FIZZ-1)were promoted,and this was responsible for suppressing the foreign body responses and accelerating wound healing.In conclusion,dermal scaffolds containing NAg suppressed the foreign body reaction by regulating macrophages and the expression of inflammatory cytokines,thereby promoting wound healing.

Preparation and Microwave Absorbing Properties of Double-layer Fine Iron Tailings Cementitious Materials

To develop the microwave absorbing(MA)properties of cementitious material mixed with mine solid waste,the iron tailings cementitious microwave absorbing materials were prepared.The iron tailings was treated into different particle sizes by planetary ball mill,and the physicochemical properties of iron tailings were tested by laser particle size analyzer and scanning electron microscope(SEM).The electromagnetic parameters of iron tailings cementitious materials were characterized by a vector network analyzer and simulated MA properties,and the MA properties of iron tailings-cement composite system with steel fiber as absorber was studied.Based on the design of the single-layer structure,optimum mix ratio and thickness configuration method of double-layer structure were further studied,meanwhile,the mechanical properties and engineering application were analyzed and discussed.The results show that the particle size of iron tailings can afiect its electromagnetic behavior in cementitious materials,and the smaller particles lead the increase of demagnetisation efiect induced by domain wall motion and achieve better microwave absorbing properties in cementitious materials.When the thickness of matching layer and absorbing layer is 5 mm,the optimized microwave absorbing properties of C1/C3 double-layer cementitious material can obtain optimal RL value of-27.61 dB and efiective absorbing bandwidth of 0.97 GHz,which attributes to the synergistic efiect of impedance matching and attenuation characteristics.The double-layer microwave absorbing materials obtain excellent absorbing properties and show great design flexibility and diversity,which can be used as a suitable candidate for the preparation of favorable microwave absorbing cementitious materials.

An Ensemble Classification Model Based on Imbalanced Data for Aviation Safety

Nowadays aviation accidents have become one of the major causes of severe injuries and fatalities around the world. This attracts the research community to look into aviation safety by applying data analysis techniques based on an advanced machine learning algorithm. An ensemble classification model based on Aviation Safety Reporting System(ASRS) has been proposed to analyze aviation safety targeting the people injured in the system.The ensemble classification model shall contain two modules: the data-driven module consisting of data cleaning, feature selection,and imbalanced data division and reorganization, and the modeldriven module stacked by Random Forest(RF), XGBoost(XGB),and Light Gradient Boosting Machine(LGBM) separately. The results indicate that the ensemble model could solve the data imbalance while vastly improving accuracy. LGBM illustrates higher accuracy and faster run in the analysis of a single model of the ASRS-based imbalanced data, while the ensemble model has the best performance in classification at the same time. The ensemble model proposed for imbalanced data classification can provide a certain reference for similar data processing while improving the safety of civil aviation.

The anodic stability and reversibility of Ca metal electrodeposition/dissolution have always been hampered by surface passivation and anion corrosion,especially in F-based carbonate ester electrolytes at high device voltages.To avoid direct Ca metal/electrolyte reactions,an artificial hybrid solid electrolyte layer(AHSEL),which is characteristic of sodium/calcium carbonate and calcium hydride nitride nanocrystals of size1400 h at a polarization shift of3.3 V),a large capacity of≈80 mAh g^(-1)at 200 mA g^(-1),and an ultralong lifespan≈5000 cycles.

Aviation accidents are currently one of the leading causes of significant injuries and deaths worldwide. This entices researchers to investigate aircraft safety using data analysis approaches based on an advanced machine learning algorithm.To assess aviation safety and identify the causes of incidents, a classification model with light gradient boosting machine (LGBM)based on the aviation safety reporting system (ASRS) has been developed. It is improved by k-fold cross-validation with hybrid sampling model (HSCV), which may boost classification performance and maintain data balance. The results show that employing the LGBM-HSCV model can significantly improve accuracy while alleviating data imbalance. Vertical comparison with other cross-validation (CV) methods and lateral comparison with different fold times comprise the comparative approach. Aside from the comparison, two further CV approaches based on the improved method in this study are discussed:one with a different sampling and folding order, and the other with more CV. According to the assessment indices with different methods, the LGBMHSCV model proposed here is effective at detecting incident causes. The improved model for imbalanced data categorization proposed may serve as a point of reference for similar data processing, and the model’s accurate identification of civil aviation incident causes can assist to improve civil aviation safety.
