Objective:To delineate the onset and recurrence characteristics of noncardiogenic ischemic stroke patients in China.Methods:A prospective,multicenter and registry study was carried out in 2,558 patients at 7 representative clinical sub-centers during November 3,2016 to February 17,2019.A questionnaire was used to collect information of patients regarding CM syndromes and constitutions and associated risk factors.Additionally,stroke recurrence was defined as a primary outcome indicator.Results:A total of 327(12.78%)patients endured recurrence events,1,681(65.72%)patients were men,and the average age was 63.33±9.45 years.Totally 1,741(68.06%)patients suffered first-ever ischemic stroke,1,772(69.27%)patients reported to have hypertension,and1,640(64.11%)of them reported dyslipidemia,1,595(62.35%)patients exhibited small-artery occlusion by The Trial of Org 10172 in Acute Stroke Treatment(TOAST)classification.Specifically,1,271(49.69%)patients were considered as qi-deficient constitution,and 1,227(47.97%)patients were determined as stagnant blood constitution.There were 1,303(50.94%)patients diagnosed as blood stasis syndrome,1,280(50.04%)patients exhibited phlegm and dampness syndrome and 1,012(39.56%)patients demonstrated qi deficiency syndrome.And 1,033(40.38%)patients declared intracranial artery stenosis,and 478(18.69%)patients reported carotid artery stenosis.The plaque in 1,508(41.36%)patients were of mixed.Particularly,41.09%of them demonstrated abnormal levels of glycated hemoglobin(HbA1 c)levels.Conclusions:Recurrence in minor and small-artery stroke cannot be ignored.Hypertension,dyslipidemia,abnormal HbA1 c,intracranial artery stenosis and carotid plaque were more common in stroke patients.Particularly,phlegm-dampness and blood stasis syndromes,as well as qi deficiency and blood stasis constitutions,were still the main manifestations of stroke.(Trial registration at ClinicalTrials.gov,No.NCT03174535)

Complex interactions among insect viruses-insect vector-arboviruses

Insects are the host or vector of diverse viruses including those that infect vertebrates,plants,and fungi.Insect viruses reside inside their insect hosts and are vertically transmitted from parent to offspring.The insect virus-host relationship is intricate,as these viruses can impact various aspects of insect biology,such as development,reproduction,sex ratios,and immunity.Arthropod-borne viruses(arboviruses)that cause substantial global health or agricultural problems can also be vertically transmitted to insect vector progeny.Multiple infections with insect viruses and arboviruses are common in nature.Such coinfections involve complex interactions,including synergism,dependence,and antagonism.Recent studies have shed light on the influence of insect viruses on the competence of insect vectors for arboviruses.In this review,we focus on the biological effects of insect viruses on the transmission of arboviruses by insects.We also discuss the potential mechanisms by which insect viruses affect the ability of hosts to transmit arboviruses,as well as potential strategies for disease control through manipulation of insect viruses.Analyses of the interactions among insect vectors,insect viruses and arboviruses will provide new opportunities for development of innovative strategies to control arbovirus transmission.

Development of RPA-Cas12a-fluorescence assay for rapid and reliable detection of human bocavirus 1

Human bocavirus(HBoV)1 is considered an important pathogen that mainly affects infants aged 6–24 months,but preventing viral transmission in resource-limited regions through rapid and affordable on-site diagnosis of individuals with early infection of HBoV1 remains somewhat challenging.Herein,we present a novel faster,lower cost,reliable method for the detection of HBoV1,which integrates a recombinase polymerase amplification(RPA)assay with the CRISPR/Cas12a system,designated the RPA-Cas12a-fluorescence assay.The RPA-Cas12a-fluorescence system can specifically detect target gene levels as low as 0.5 copies of HBoV1 plasmid DNA per microliter within 40 min at 37℃without the need for sophisticated instruments.The method also demonstrates excellent specificity without cross-reactivity to non-target pathogens.Furthermore,the method was appraised using 28 clinical samples,and displayed high accuracy with positive and negative predictive agreement of 90.9%and 100%,respectively.Therefore,our proposed rapid and sensitive HBoV1 detection method,the RPA-Cas12a-fluorescence assay,shows promising potential for early on-site diagnosis of HBoV1 infection in the fields of public health and health care.The established RPA-Cas12a-fluorescence assay is rapid and reliable method for human bocavirus 1 detection.The RPA-Cas12a-fluorescence assay can be completed within 40 min with robust specificity and sensitivity of 0.5 copies/μl.

Molecular Mechanism of Rice Necrotic Lesion for Optimized Yield and Disease Resistance

How to balance rice resistance and yield is an important issue in rice breeding.Plants with mutated necrotic lesion genes often have persistent broad-spectrum resistance,but this broad-spectrum resistance usually comes at the expense of yield.Currently,many necrotic lesion mutants in rice have been identified,and these genes are involved in disease resistance pathways.This review provides a detailed introduction to the characteristics,classification,and molecular mechanisms of necrotic lesion formation.Additionally,we review the molecular regulatory pathways of genes involved in rice disease resistance.Concurrently,we summarize the relationship between resistance and yield in rice using newly developed gene editing methods.We discuss a rational and precise breeding strategy to better utilize molecular design technology for breeding disease-resistant and high-yield rice varieties.

The homogenous growth of Co-based coordination compound on graphene nanosheet for high-performance K-organic battery and its reaction mechanism

Metal coordination compounds（MCCs） are gaining popularity for potassium-ion batteries（PIBs）owing to their tuneable structure,multiple reaction sites,low cost and unique morphology.However,they are generally subjected to intrinsic features of the sluggish ionic diffusion coefficient,low electronic conductivity and slow kinetics.Herein,a new MCC material of cobalt-1,3,5-trioxy-2,4,6-triamino-benzo（Co-TB） coordination compound was synthesized and homogenously grown on the surface of graphene nanosheets（GNS）,forming a Co-TB@GNS composite with enhanced electronic conductivity and flexible capability.Benefiting from the overall enhanced conductivity,high surface area and abundant activated K-storage sites,Co-TB@GNS electrodes have exhibited superior cycling performance with high reversible capacities(312 mAh·g-1after 100 cycles at 100 mA·g-1,224 mAh·g-1after 500 cycles at 1 A·g-1) and better rate performances compared with the pure Co-TB compound when served as PIB's anodes.Furthermore,multiple in-situ measurement techniques have jointly confirmed that the organic functional groups（C=O,C=N and C=C of benzene rings） and Co2+in Co-TB are the main reversible K-storage sites,including in-situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy（FTIR） and X-ray diffraction（XRD）,and partial capacity contribution is originated from GNS by the apparent K-storage behavior in the in-situ XRD pattern,proving the possibility of K-storage for metal-organic materials.

Pheromone receptors(PRs)are key proteins in the molecular mechanism of pheromone recognition,and exploring the functional differentiation of PRs between closely related species helps to understand the evolution of moth mating systems.Pheromone components of the agricultural pest Mythimna loreyi have turned into(Z)-9-tetradecen-1-yl acetate(Z9-14:OAc),(Z)-7-dodecen-1-yl acetate(Z7-12:OAc),and(Z)-11-hexadecen-1-yl acetate,while the composition differs from that of M.separata in the genus Mythimna.To understand the molecular mechanism of pheromone recognition,we sequenced and analyzed antennal transcriptomes to identify 62 odorant receptor(OR)genes.The expression levels of all putative ORs were analyzed using differentially expressed gene analysis.Six candidate PRs were quantified and functionally characterized in the Xenopus oocytes system.MlorPR6 and MlorPR3 were determined to be the receptors of major and minor components Z9-14:OAc and Z7-12:OAc.MlorPR1 and female antennae(FA)-biased MlorPR5 both possessed the ability to detect pheromones of sympatric species,including(Z,E)-9,12-tetradecadien-1-ol,(Z)-9-tetradecen-1-ol,and(Z)-9-tetradecenal.Based on the comparison of PR functions between M.loreyi and M.separata,we analyzed the differentiation of pheromone recognition mechanisms during the evolution of the mating systems of 2 Mythimna species.

MIXED DISCONTINUOUS GALERKIN METHOD FOR QUASI-NEWTONIAN STOKES FLOWS

In this paper,we introduce and analyze an augmented mixed discontinuous Galerkin(MDG)method for a class of quasi-Newtonian Stokes flows.In the mixed formulation,the unknowns are strain rate,stress and velocity,which are approximated by a discontinuous piecewise polynomial triplet ■for k≥0.Here,the discontinuous piecewise polynomial function spaces for the field of strain rate and the stress field are designed to be symmetric.In addition,the pressure is easily recovered through simple postprocessing.For the benefit of the analysis,we enrich the MDG scheme with the constitutive equation relating the stress and the strain rate,so that the well-posedness of the augmented formulation is obtained by a nonlinear functional analysis.For k≥0,we get the optimal convergence order for the stress in broken ■(div)-norm and velocity in L^(2)-norm.Furthermore,the error estimates of the strain rate and the stress in-norm,and the pressure in L^(2)-norm are optimal under certain conditions.Finally,several numerical examples are given to show the performance of the augmented MDG method and verify the theoretical results.Numerical evidence is provided to show that the orders of convergence are sharp.

Solar-driven carbon dioxide(CO_(2))conversion including photocatalytic(PC),photoelectrochemical(PEC),photovoltaic plus electrochemical(PV/EC)systems,offers a renewable and scalable way to produce fuels and high-value chemicals for environment and energy sustainability.This review summarizes the basic fundament and the recent advances in the field of solar-driven CO_(2)conversion.Expanding the visible-light absorption is an important strategy to improve solar energy conversion efficiency.The separation and migration of photogenerated charges carriers to surface sites and the surface catalytic processes also determine the photocatalytic performance.Surface engineering including co-catalyst loading,defect engineering,morphology control,surface modification,surface phase junction,and Z-scheme photocatalytic system construction,have become fundamental strategies to obtain high-efficiency photocatalysts.Similar to photocatalysis,these strategies have been applied to improve the conversion efficiency and Faradaic efficiency of typical PEC systems.In PV/EC systems,the electrode surface structure and morphology,electrolyte effects,and mass transport conditions affect the activity and selectivity of electrochemical CO_(2)reduction.Finally,the challenges and prospects are addressed for the development of solar-driven CO_(2)conversion system with high energy conversion efficiency,high product selectivity and stability.

Effectiveness of intravitreal ranibizumab for diabetic macular edema in vitrectomized versus non-vitrectomized eyes:a Meta-analysis

AIM:To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of intravitreal ranibizumab(IVR)for diabetic macular edema(DME)in vitrectomized versus non-vitrectomized eyes.METHODS:The PubMed,EMBASE,Web of Science,Cochrane,EBSCO were comprehensively searched for studies comparing vitrectomized and non-vitrectomized eyes with DME.Clinical outcomes of best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),central macular thickness(CMT),the mean number of intravitreal injection and adverse events were extracted and analyzed.RESULTS:Six studies involving 641 eyes were included.Final visual gain significantly improved and CMT significantly reduced in vitrectomized eyes at 6mo and 12mo visits(P<0.05).Although the mean reduction in CMT among non-vitrectomized eyes was significantly greater than in vitrectomized eyes at the 6mo[mean difference(MD)=53.57,95%confidence interval(CI):28.03 to 78.72,P<0.0001]and 12mo(MD=49.65,95%CI:19.58 to 79.72,P=0.01),no significant difference was detected in improvement in BCVA at either 6mo(MD=0.05,95%CI:-0.02 to 0.13,P=0.14)or 12mo(MD=0.03,95%CI:-0.04 to 0.09,P=0.43).Injection number of ranibizumab in non-vitrectomized eyes was significantly less than that in vitrectomized eyes during 6-month period(MD=0.60,95%CI:0.16 to 1.04,P=0.008),while there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups during 12mo of follow-up.CONCLUSION:Evidence from current study suggests that IVR was useful for both vitrectomized group and nonvitrectomized group with DME.Although less reduction in macular thickness is found in vitrectomized group,visual improvement between two groups is similar.
