Coupling changes of soil functional gene abundances and extracellular enzyme activities across the diagnostic horizons of agricultural Isohumosols

Soil functional microbial taxa and extracellular enzymes are involved in a variety of biogeochemical cycling processes.Although many studies have revealed the vertical change patterns of microbial communities along soil profile,the general understanding of the coupling changes in the functional gene abundances(FGAs)and extracellular enzyme activities(EEAs)in soil profiles is still limited,which hinders us from revealing soil ecosystem processes.Herein,we comparatively investigated the FGAs and EEAs in the diagnostic A,B,and C horizons of soil profiles obtained from two suborders of Isohumosols(Mollisols),Ustic and Udic Isohumosols,in Northeast China based on quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and standard fluorometric techniques,respectively.The distribution patterns of both FGAs and EEAs significantly distinguished by the two soil suborders and were also separated from A to C horizon.Additionally,the variations of EEAs and FGAs were greater in Udic Isohumosols compared to Ustic Isohumosols along soil profiles,and greater changes were observed in C horizon than in A horizon.Both FGAs and EEAs correspondently decreased along the soil profiles.However,when normalized by soil organic carbon,the specific EEAs significantly increased in deep soil horizons,suggesting that microorganisms will input more resources to the production of enzymes to ensure microbial nutrient requirements under resource scarcity.More importantly,we revealed that soil microbial nutrient demands were limited by carbon(C)and phosphorus(P),and the C and P limitations significantly increased along soil profiles with a greater C limitation observed in Ustic Isohumosols than in Udic Isohumosols.Overall,our findings provided solid evidence showing the links between FGAs,EEAs,and microbial nutrient limitations,which would be helpful for a better understanding of the ecosystem processes in soil profiles.

Adhering to the Chinese Modernization Path of Harmony Between Humanity and Nature

The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held in October 2022 expounded the theory of Chinese modernization, emphasizing the need to advance the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts via a Chinese path to modernization and pointing out that Chinese modernization is the modernization of harmony between humanity and nature. The congress also stressed the need to uphold and act on the principle that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets and to maintain harmony between humanity and nature when planning development. This represents an important innovation in modernization theory, the latest theoretical innovation of Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Conservation, and a practical requirement for advancing ecological conservation.

针对配电网拓扑变化时启发式等算法在配电网故障恢复决策中求解效果与适应性变差的问题,提出了一种基于图强化学习的故障恢复决策方法。首先,利用图数据表征故障恢复中的决策信息,包括配电网拓扑结构与电气特征信息。然后,在图强化学习模型中设置前置图神经网络接收图数据输入,应对故障恢复过程中配电网的拓扑变化。最后,由内嵌图神经网络的强化学习智能体输出最终故障恢复策略以提高决策速度。采用改进的PG&E 69节点配电网算例进行验证,结果表明所提算法求解速度达到毫秒级,较启发式和遗传算法在求解效率上提高了6%~7%,故障恢复策略的负荷恢复率也更高。

Oil Phase Molecular Compositions of Oily Sludge Using Mass Spectrometry

Oily sludge was recognized as a kind of hazardous wastes,so recycling its high content of petroleum hydrocarbons can contribute to the clean environment.In this study,oily sludge was subjected to continous ultrasonic extraction with an acetone/carbon disulfide(CS2)mixture solvent.Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIRS),gas chromatography/mass spectrometry(GC/MS),and Quadrupole exactive Orbitrap mass spectrometry(QPEOTMS)were used to analyze the oil phase compounds from oily sludge.The n-alkanes ranging from C8 to C31 hydrocarbons were detected in oil phase.Compared with the analysis results of GC/MS,more heteroatom-containing compounds(HACOCs)of oil phase such as O3,O4,N2Oo and N3Oo(o=0—3)could be detected by using the QPEOTMS analysis.Overall,these findings will potentially contribute to the clean and efficient utilization of oily sludge.

行洛坑超大型钨矿床位于福建省宁化县东部,是武夷山成矿带内最大的钨矿床,具有储量大、品位低、黑钨矿与白钨矿资源量相近的特点。白钨矿作为含钨矿物,其形成年龄可以代表矿床的成矿时代,其地球化学特征反映了成矿作用环境和过程。文章在对行洛坑钨矿床钨矿脉特征、黑钨矿与白钨矿赋存状态开展调查的基础上,挑选白钨矿单矿物进行了Sm-Nd等时线测年和微量元素测试。研究结果显示,白钨矿结晶年龄为(142.6±2.8)Ma,略小于黑钨矿原位U-Pb年龄(150.5±8.1)Ma和石英流体包裹体Rb-Sr等时线年龄(147.5±2.9)Ma,与矿区隐伏岩体成岩年龄143.5~149.5 Ma在误差范围内完全吻合,也与矿物结晶世代关系吻合,都属于晚侏罗世的产物,说明钨成矿与隐伏岩体成岩近于同时或稍晚发生。白钨矿中微量及稀土元素特征显示第一世代成矿流体中Eu3+>Eu2+,指示成矿流体为氧化性流体。行洛坑钨矿成矿与华南中生代大规模成矿作用及其大地构造背景和动力学环境密切相关。

Properties of Magnetite Nanoparticles Produced by Magnetotactic Bacteria

The magnetic nanoparticles（magnetite） were prepared through the fermentation of the Magnetospirillum strain WM-1 newly isolated by our group. The samples were characterized by TEM, SAED, XRD, rock magnetic analysis, and Mossbauer spectroscopy. TEM and SAED measurements showed that the magnetosomes formed by strain WM-1 were single crystallites of high perfection with a cubic spinel structure of magnetite. X-ray measurements also fitted very well with standard Fe3O4 reflections with an inverse spinel structure of the magnetite core. The size of crystal as calculated by the Debye-Scherrer’s equation was approximately 55 nm. Rock magnetic analysis showed WM-1 synthesized single-domain magnetite magnetosomes, which were arranged in the form of linear chain. The high delta ratio（（δFC / δZFC = 4） supported the criteria of Moskowitz test that there were intact magnetosomes chains in cells. The Verwey transition occurred at 105 K that closed to stoochiometric magnetite in composition. These observations provided useful insights into the biomineralization of magnetosomes and properties of M. WM-1 and potential application of biogenic magnetite in biomaterials and biomagnetism.

Synthesis of Magnetically Modified Fe-Al Pillared Bentonite and Heterogeneous Fenton-like Degradation of Orange II

Magnetically modified Fe-Al pillared bentonite（Fe3O4/ Fe-Al-Bent） was prepared via chemical co-precipitation method and characterized by powder X-ray diffraction（XRD）, Brunauer-EmmettTeller（BET）, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy（FTIR） and scanning electron microscopy（SEM）. A series of experiments were carried out to investigate the degradation of Orange II by the obtained heterogeneous catalysts in the presence of H2O2. The experimental result indicated that the synthetic materials had a high catalytic activity and good reusability.

Comprehensive Management and Protection of Lakes in Kaifeng

Through analysing pollution source and status quo of the main lakes in Kaifeng,such as Dragon Pavilion Lake and Baogong Lake,the conclusion is that Kaifeng＇s lake environment has been in a greater pollution condition. For lake pollution situation,we put forward comprehensive management and protection approaches of lakes,including the relocation of businesses around the lake,plugging the sewage outfall surrounding lakes,dredging and deeply digging to increase the water environment capacity of lake. By dredging the river,the lakes in urban district connect together. Controlling aquaculture scale of lakes,the ecological function of the lake is played. Constructing drainage network around the lake,integration of landscape and lake flood control is formed. Adding new water into lakes,stagnant water becomes flowing water. We sum up the experience of lake management and protection： strengthening protection awareness is the key; lake remediation is the fundamental; attention to ecological protection of the lake is the most important factor in the development of lakes; exploiting a variety of functions of the lakes including landscaping,tourism,recreation,aquaculture,public health is the goal.

The bacterial diversity in surface sediment from the South China Sea

16S rDNA sequencing results from this study and literatures demonstrate that sediment bacteria in the South China Sea （SCS） were very diverse,which contained 22 of the 24 phyla of bacteria investigated from marine sediment,however,it was very imbalance among stations.So bacterial diversity from 15 samples which covered a wide range of sediment types from 20 to 3 888 m in depth was studied in DGGE （denature gradient gel electrophoresis） in this paper.The DGGE results indicate that both sediment bacterial diversity and diversity difference among stations were significant.Thirty representative and differential fingerprints among samples were recovered and sequenced,phylogenetic analysis indicates that they may belong to Proteobacteria （α-,β-,γ-,δ-,ε-）,Planctomycetes,Firmicutes,Chloroflexi,Acidobacteria,Actinobacteria,Nitrospirae,Gemmatimonadetes,candidate division WS3 and so on,of which,Gemmatimonadetes and candidate division WS3 bacteria were first detected in SCS sediment.This study also shows that bacterial diversity analysis based on DGGE was more potential than traditional 16S rDNA clone library in multiple sample analysis.

Distribution Pattern and Geographical Division of Terrestrial Living Things in the World

After summary of the distribution data of 180,661 genera of terrestrial animals,plants,fungi,bacteria and viruses in the world,according to the ecological conditions such as topography and climate,the world land is divided into 67 BGUs(Basic Geographic Units),which are analyzed by four quantitative methods:Single linkage method,Average group linkage method,Sum of squares method and MSCA(Multivariate Similarity Clustering Analysis)method.The MSCA has stronger data mining ability than the first three traditional clustering methods,and can obtain more,more detailed,more accurate and more stable clustering results.According to the clustering results,the first world biogeographical regionalization system was established.This system not only affirms and supports the reasonable scientific core of the mammalian and flowering plant geographical division plan formulated by the predecessors of scholars in the 19th century,but also revises some imbalances in the division criteria and boundary determination caused by their qualitative methods,unifying various global geographical division plans emerging since the 21st century.
