Multi-scenario Simulation of the Impact of Land Use Change on the Ecosystem Service Value in the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou Metropolitan Area,China

As the most economically developed metropolitan area in China’s Yangtze River Delta,the rapid changing land use patterns of Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou(Su-Xi-Chang) metropolitan area have profound impacts on the ecosystem service value(ESV).Based on the patterns of land use change and the ESV change in Su-Xi-Chang metropolitan area from 2000 to 2020,we set up four scenarios:natural development scenario,urban development scenario,arable land protection scenario and ecological protection scenario,and simulated the impact of land use changes on the ESV in these scenarios.The results showed that:1) the area of built-up land in the Su-XiChang metropolitan area increased significantly from 2000 to 2020,and the area of other types of land decreased.Arable land underwent the highest transfer-out area,and was primarily converted into built-up land.The total ESV of Su-Xi-Chang metropolitan area increased initially then declined from 2000–2020,and the value of almost all individual ecosystem services decreased.2) Population density,GDP per area,night lighting intensity,and road network density can negatively impact the ESV.3) The total ESV loss under the natural development and urban development scenarios was high,and the expansion of the built-up land and the drastic shrinkage of the arable land contributed to the ESV decline under both scenarios.The total ESV under arable land protection and ecological protection scenarios increases,and therefore these scenarios are suitable for future land use optimization in Su-Xi-Chang.This study could provide a certain reference for land use planning and allocation,and offer guidance for the rational allocation of land resources.

Dynamic Trigger and Moisture Source of Two Typical Meiyu Front Rainstorms Associated with Eastward-Moving Cloud Clusters from the Tibetan Plateau

Eastward-moving cloud clusters from the Tibetan Plateau(TP)often trigger heavy rainfall events in the Yangtze River basin in summer.Forecasting these events in an operational environment remains a challenging task.Here,dynamical diagnosis and a Lagrangian trajectory model are used to analyze the background atmospheric circulation,maintenance mechanism,and moisture transport of two Meiyu front rainstorms(MYFR)during 30 June-2 July 2016 and 17-19 June 2018 associated with eastward-moving cloud clusters from the TP.It is shown that in both cases heavy rainfall is characterized by semi-continuous rainbelts extending from the eastern TP to the Yangtze River valleys with eastward-spreading convective clouds weakening and strengthening alternately from the eastern TP to downstream regions.Following the track of positive water vapor advection,centers of positive vorticity propagate downstream through the Sichuan basin.The baroclinic thermodynamic–dynamical interaction and the barotropic nonequilibrium force work against each other in the development of the MYFR.Specifically,during the early stage of precipitation development,the barotropic non-equilibrium force dominates,while during the period of heavy precipitation the baroclinic thermodynamic-dynamical interaction dominates.The convergence associated with the baroclinic thermodynamic-dynamical interaction guarantees the persistence of heavy precipitation.Compared to the climate mean state(1988-2018),both MYFR events associated with eastward-moving cloud clusters from the eastern TP are characterized by increased moisture transport from the southwest.One of the major paths of moisture transport in both cases is along the south side of the TP,directly connected to the eastward movement of cloud clusters.

Taxonomic notes on Hydroidomedusae (Cnidaria) from the South China Sea Ⅳ: Family Bougainvilliidae (Anthomedusae)

This study reviews all genera and species belonging to the family Bougainvilliidae from the South China Sea. The Nubiella atentaculata Xu and Huang, 2004 formerly included in the genus Nubiella, now is transferred to a new genus Paranubiella and included in the Bougainvilliidae as Paranubiella atentaculata （Xu and Huang, 2004） n. comb.. Two new species, Paranubiella nanhaiensis Xu, Huang and Guo, sp. nov. and Nubiella apapillaris Xu, Huang and Guo, sp. nov. from the South China Sea are described and illustrated in the present paper. In addition, the key to known genera of family Bougainvilliidae and species of genus Nubiella are described. Other data are briefly summarized to the list of species presented on the family Bougainvilliidae in the South China Sea. The type species were deposited at the Third Institute of Oceanography, State Oceanic Administration.

Polyconchoecia commixtus gen. et sp. nov. (Ostracoda： Myodocopa： Halocyprididae) from the South China Sea

Planktonic ostracods are small crustaceans abundant in marine ecosystem worldwide as appreciable part of marine zooplankton. Family Halocyprididae is a large group of halocyprid ostracods, and the tribe Conchoeciini has contained 21 genera previously. We described a further genus with a species Polyconchoecia commixtus gen. et sp. nov. from the middle of South China Sea in this study. The new species can be distinguished from related genera and species in having a unique combination of these characteristics： a lateral gland placed over right asymmetric gland and open near posterior margin; dense edge glands placed along ventral margin of carapace in line; shape of frontal organ; e-seta of first antenna is bare; endopod of second antenna has one small oval hump with central concave on mid-ventral margin, instead of processus mamillaris, exopod 1 has a small disto-dorsal spine, exopod 1 and 2 are fused, exopod 3 and 4 are bare; endopod 1 of mandible has one long ventral seta, endopod 2 has one ventral seta; maxillary endopod 1 has two basal setae; endopod 1 of fifth limb has only one ventral seta; endopod 1 of sixth limb and endopod 2 have no ventral seta. The definite distinctions in locations of major glands are the key characteristics of the new genus.

Deformation transition of intact coal induced by gas injection

Gas migration in coal bed is a multiple-physical process, of which not only includes gas desorption/diffusion through coal matrix and gas Darcy flow through the cleat system, but also results in deformation of solid coal. Especially for enhanced coal bed methane(ECBM) and CO2 capture and sequestration(CCS), gas injection is mainly controlled by the gas diffusivity in the coal matrix and coal permeability.Although the relevant coal permeability models have been frequently developed, how the dual-porosity system of coal affects gas adsorption/diffusion is still poorly understood. In this paper, a series of experiments were carried out in order to investigate deformation evolution of intact coal subjected to hydrostatic pressure of different gases(including pure H2, N2 and CO2) under isotherm injection. In the testing process, the coal strain and injected gas pressure were measured simultaneously. The results show that the pressure of non-adsorptive helium remained unchanged throughout the isothermal injection process, in which the volumetric strain of the coal shrinked firstly and maintained unchanged at lower isobaric pressure. With the injected pressure increasing, the coal volume underwent a transition from shrinking to recovery(still less than initial volume of the coal). In contrast, N2 injection caused the coal to shrink firstly and then recover with decreasing gas pressure. The recovery volume was larger than the initial volume due to adsorption-induced swelling. For the case of CO2 injection, although the stronger adsorption effect could result in swelling of the solid coal, the presence of higher gas pressure appears to contribute the swelling coal to shrink. These results indicate that the evolution of coal deformation is time dependent throughout the migration of injected gas. This study reviews all species belonging to the families Laodiceidae, Lovenellidae, Malagazziidae, and Mitrocomidae in the South China Sea. Two new species, Eucheilota carinata sp. nov. and Halopsis nanhaiensis sp. nov., are described and illustrated. One genus, Staurostorna, and two species, Staurostorna sp. and Octophialueiurn aphrodite （Bigelow, 1928）, are first recorded in China seas. The key to all medusa genera and species of Lovenellidae and Malagazziidae are presented. Other data are briefly summarized to the list and distribution of species presented on the family Laodiceidae, Lovenellidae, Malagazziidae and Mitrocomidae in the South China Sea. The type specimens are deposited in the Third Institute of Oceanography, State Oceanic Administration, China.

农村社会性非就业收入及其社会文化功能

社会性非就业收入是传统农村社会的一种福利性支持形式,表现为家庭内部代际支持、亲属和宗族以及邻里互助互惠、民间捐赠等,具有凝聚社会团结、应对不确定性以及缩小收入差距等社会功能。此类收入并没有在乡村社会转型中消失,不但依然存在,在某些方面还发挥了一定的积极作用,如敬老养老、支持就业创业以及扶贫济困等,而且还有一些新的表现形式。当然,一些人情类支出有可能成为农村家庭的经济负担等问题也值得注意。总体来看,目前农村社会性非就业收入占比不大,这是因为,一方面,大量人口外出,村庄内部的互助互惠需求减少;另一方面,农村人口经济条件有所改善,父母对子女的经济需求没有以前强烈,甚至出现年纪大的父母支持子女乃至孙辈的收入转移现象。与此同时,农村社会慈善发展滞后,虽有城市慈善组织入乡援助,但力度不大,覆盖面有限。因此,激活社会资源以拓展农村社会性非就业收入渠道,减少人情类支出以减轻农村居民的经济负担,提高慈善性收入和敬老孝老的收入,加强农村社会保障体系建设等,是未来实现乡村收入变迁的主要途径,也是增进乡村社会团结的必要条件。

改革开放以来,县域现代化虽然曾在国家现代化进程中发挥领跑作用,但总体存在滞后问题,成为当前中国现代化建设的重点和难点。基于对百强县市前十的两个县级市——江苏省太仓市和福建省晋江市持续近三十年的调查,本文探讨了地方性在四个维度上助推县域现代化的实践逻辑。地方性的四个维度不但各自具有与县域现代化的适配性,而且相互适配、相互形塑,进一步提升了地方性适配现代化的水平。这背后的关键机制是由地方性滋养出来的社会文化主体性成为推动县域现代化发展和变迁的主导力量。从地方性中寻找社会文化主体性的培育可能,是中国更多县域推动现代化建设可以借鉴的重要经验。

Analysis of the Characteristics of the Low-level Jets in the Middle Reaches of the Yangtze River during the Mei-yu Season

Here,we analyze the characteristics and the formation mechanisms of low-level jets(LLJs)in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River during the 2010 mei-yu season using Wuhan station radiosonde data and the fifth generation of the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts(ERA5)reanalysis dataset.Our results show that the vertical structure of LLJs is characterized by a predominance of boundary layer jets(BLJs)concentrated at heights of 900-1200 m.The BLJs occur most frequently at 2300 LST(LST=UTC+8 hours)but are strongest at 0200 LST,with composite wind velocities>14 m s^(-1).Synoptic-system-related LLJs(SLLJs)occur most frequently at 0800 LST but are strongest at 1100LST,with composite wind velocities>12 m s^(-1).Both BLJs and SLLJs are characterized by a southwesterly wind direction,although the wind direction of SLLJs is more westerly,and northeasterly SLLJs occur more frequently than northeasterly BLJs.When Wuhan is south of the mei-yu front,the westward extension of the northwest Pacific subtropical high intensifies,and the low-pressure system in the eastern Tibetan Plateau strengthens,favoring the formation of LLJs,which are closely related to precipitation.The wind speeds on rainstorm days are greater than those on LLJ days.Our analysis of four typical heavy precipitation events shows the presence of LLJs at the center of the precipitation and on its southern side before the onset of heavy precipitation.BLJs were shown to develop earlier than SLLJs.
