Investigations on High-Speed Flash Boiling Atomization of Fuel Based on Numerical Simulations

Flash boiling atomization(FBA)is a promising approach for enhancing spray atomization,which can generate a fine and more evenly distributed spray by increasing the fuel injection temperature or reducing the ambient ***,when the outlet speed of the nozzle exceeds 400 m/s,investigating high-speed flash boiling atomization(HFBA)becomes quite *** difficulty arises fromthe involvement ofmany complex physical processes and the requirement for a very fine mesh in numerical *** this study,an HFBA model for gasoline direct injection(GDI)is *** model incorporates primary and secondary atomization,as well as vaporization and boilingmodels,to describe the development process of the flash boiling *** to lowspeed FBA,these physical processes significantly impact *** this model,the Eulerian description is utilized for modeling the gas,and the Lagrangian description is applied to model the droplets,which effectively captures the movement of the droplets and avoids excessive mesh in the Eulerian *** various conditions,numerical solutions of the Sauter mean diameter(SMD)for GDI show good agreement with experimental data,validating the proposed model’s *** based on this HFBA model investigate the influences of fuel injection temperature and ambient pressure on the atomization *** analyses of the velocity field,temperature field,vapor mass fraction distribution,particle size distribution,and spray penetration length under different superheat degrees reveal that high injection temperature or low ambient pressure significantly affects the formation of small and dispersed droplet *** effect is conducive to the refinement of spray particles and enhances atomization.

A new method based on the surface tension measurement for fast evaluating modification effect of Al-Si alloy in front of furnace and an automatic system for fast measuring surface tension of molten Al-Si alloy are introduced. By theoretical analysis the relation between surface tension σe of molten Al-Si alloy and information parameters △P , N , φx and T has been established, namely, σ e = a △P + b . N + c . (φ x- φ0)+ d . T +e . By ex- periments the relationship between surface tension and modification level of Al-Si alloy has been also got that σ e > 530 mN/m, 400 ≤σe ≤530 mN/m and σ e < 400 mN/m are corresponding with AFS 1-2, AFS 3-4 and AFS 5-6 of Al-Si modification effect. Depending on the conclusions, modification effect can be recognized in a few seconds, which is of practical significance for real-time evaluating modification effect of Al-Si alloy in front of furnace.

Sub-diffraction-limit cell imaging using a super-resolution microscope with simplified pulse synchronization

Stimulated emission depletion(STED) microscope is one of the most prominent super-resolution bio-imaging instruments, which holds great promise for ultrahigh-resolution imaging of cells. To construct a STED microscope, it is challenging to realize temporal synchronization between the excitation pulses and the depletion pulses. In this study, we present a simple and low-cost method to achieve pulse synchronization by using a condensed fluorescent dye as a depletion indicator. By using this method, almost all the confocal microscopes can be upgraded to a STED system without losing its original functions. After the pulse synchronization,our STED system achieved sub-100-nm resolution for fluorescent nanospheres and single-cell imaging.

BACKGROUND： Learning and memory processes are accompanied by complex neuropathological and biochemical changes. Free radicals play an important role in learning and memory damage. OBJECTIVE： To observe the effects of polygonatum sibiricum polysaccharide （PSP） in comparison with vitamin 12 on inhibiting free radical damage, as well as improving the degree of cerebral ischemia and learning and memory in a scopolamine-induced mouse model of dementia. DESIGN： Randomized controlled animal study. SETTINGS： Department of Pharmacology, Taishan Medical College; Shandong Jewim Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. MATERIALS： A total of 105 healthy Kunming mice, comprising 90 males and 15 females that were clean grade, were provided by the Animal Center of Taishan Medical College. PSP （extracted and purified by Huangjing, Taishan） was provided by the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Taishan Medical College （purity of 79.6% by using a phenol-concentrated sulphate acid method）, and hydrogen bromine acid scopolamine injection solution （SCO） by Shanghai Hefeng Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. METHODS： This study was performed at the Pharmacological Laboratory of Taishan Medical College from March to June 2007. （1） A total of 75 healthy Kunming male mice of clean grade were randomly divided into a normal control group, positive control group, and low-dosage and high-dosage PSP groups, with 15 mice in each group. Mice in both the low-dosage and high-dosage PSP groups were intragastrically administered 0.5 g/kg and 2.0 g/kg PSP, respectively. Mice in the positive control group were intragastrically administered 0.5 g/kg vitamin 12. In addition, mice in both the normal control group and model group were intragastrically administered the same volume of saline, respectively, once a day for 7 consecutive days. One hour after the final administration on day 6, mice in the positive control group, model group, low-dosage and high-dosage PSP groups were subcutaneously injected with 3.0 mg/kg SCO, whil

Rabies is an acute,progressive encephalitis caused by infection with rabies virus(RABV).It is one of the most important zoonotic infections and causes more than 70,000 human deaths annually(http://***).It has long been held that a rabies infection is lethal in humans once the causative RABV reaches the central nervous system(CNS);however,this concept was challenged by the recent recovery of a small number of rabies *** analysis of these patients revealed that the blood-brain barrier(BBB)played a major role in protection against the *** main reason for the survival of these patients was enhanced BBB permeability after infection with the causative agent(usually bat-originated RABV showing reduced pathogenicity),which allowed immune cells to enter the tissues of the CNS and clear the infection(Willoughby et al.,2005).These fi ndings have been confi rmed in animal infection experiments(wang et al.,2005;Roy and Hooper,2007,2008;Faber et al.,2009).Thus,the BBB has attracted the attention of scientists interested in the pathogenesis of,and therapeutic approaches,for *** paper introduces the role of the BBB in rabies infections and protection of the CNS and provides insight into future treatments for patients with clinical rabies.

Tree-ring response of Larix chinensis on regional climate and sea-surface temperature variations in alpine timberline in the Qinling Mountains

Tree-ring width chronologies of Larix chinensis were developed from the northern and southern slopes of the Qinling Mountains in Shaanxi Province,and climatic factors affecting the tree-ring widths of *** were *** analysis showed that similar correlations between tree-ring width chronologies and climatic factors demonstrated that radial growth responded to climate change on both *** radial growth of *** was mainly limited by temperature,especially the growing *** contrast,both chronologies were negatively correlated with precipitation in May of the previous year and April of the current *** climate-correlation analyses with gridded land-surface climate data revealed that our tree-ring width chronologies contained a strong regional temperature signal over much of northcentral and eastern *** correlation with seasurface temperature fields highlights the influence of the Pacific Ocean,Indian Ocean,and North Atlantic *** coherence analysis indicated the existence of some decadal and interannual cycles in the two tree-ring width *** may suggest the influences of El Nin˜o-Southern Oscillation and solar activity on tree growth in the Qinling *** findings will help us understand the growth response of *** to climate change in the Qinling region,and they provide critical information for future climate reconstructions based on this species in semi-humid regions.

A new Doppler frequency anomaly algorithm for surface current measurement with SAR

Values for Doppler center frequency are calculated from the echo signal at the satellite using the Doppler centroid method and so include the predicted Doppler frequency caused by the relative motion of the satellite and the Earth,which is the main component of Doppler center frequency and must be removed to obtain the Doppler frequency anomaly for ocean current *** this paper,a new Doppler frequency anomaly algorithm was proposed when measuring surface currents with synthetic aperture radar(SAR).The key of the proposed algorithm involved mean filtering method in the range direction and linear fitting in the azimuth direction to remove the radial and the azimuthal component of predicted Doppler frequency from the Doppler center frequency,*** basis is that the theoretical Doppler center frequency model of SAR exhibits an approximately linear characteristic in both the range direction and in the azimuth *** the help of the new algorithm for predicted Doppler frequency removal,the estimation error of Doppler frequency anomaly can be reduced by avoiding employing the theoretical antenna pattern and imperfect satellite attitude parameters in the conventional Doppler frequency *** measurement results demonstrated that,compared to the conventional Doppler frequency with/without error correction method,the proposed algorithm allows for a pronounced improvement in the current measuring accuracy in comparison with the global ocean multi-observation(MOB)*** addition,the eff ectiveness and robustness of the proposed Doppler algorithm has been demonstrated by its application in the high velocity current in the Kuroshio region.

Stochastic speed prediction for connected vehicles using improved bayesian networks with back propagation

Advanced vehicular control technologies rely on accurate speed prediction to make ecological and safe decisions. This paper proposes a novel stochastic speed prediction method for connected vehicles by incorporating a Bayesian network(BN) and a Back Propagation(BP) neural network. A BN model is first designed for predicting the stochastic vehicular speed in a priori. To improve the accuracy of the BN-based speed prediction, a BP-based predicted speed error compensation module is constructed by formulating a mapping between the predicted speed and its corresponding prediction error. In the end, a filtering algorithm is developed to smoothen the compensated stochastic vehicular speed. To validate the workings of the proposed approaches in experiments, two typical scenarios are considered: one predecessor vehicle in a double-vehicle scenario and two predecessor vehicles in a multi-vehicle scenario. Simulation results under the considered scenarios demonstrate that the proposed BN-BP fusion method outperforms the BN-based method with respect to the root mean square error, standardized residuals, and R-squared, and the online prediction time of proposed fusion prediction can satisfy a real-time application requirement. The main highlighted contributions of this article are threefold:(1) We put forward an improved BN method, which is combined with a BP neural network, to construct a stochastic vehicular speed prediction method under connected driving;(2) different from existing methods, a unique interconnected framework that consists of a stochastic vehicular speed prediction module, a compensation module, and a speed smoothing module is proposed;(3) extensive simulation studies based on a set of evaluation metrics are illustrated to reveal the advantages and merits of the proposed approaches.
