Nowadays,magnesium alloys are emerging in biomedical implants for their similar properties to natural ***,the rapid degradation of magnesium alloys in biological media hinders successful *** of microstructure,as well as reinforcement particles can significantly improve the degradation *** this work,multi-pass friction stir processing(FSP)was proposed to synthesize wE43/nano-hydroxyapatite(n HA)surface composite,the microstructure,reinforced particle distribution,micro-hardness,corrosion behavior and in-vitro bioactivity were *** subsequent FSP passes of wE43 alloy and wE43/n HA composite refined the grain size which was reduced by 94.29%and 95.92%(2.63 and 1.88μm,respectively)compared to base metal after three *** resulted in increasing the microhardness by 120%(90.86 HV0.1)and 135%(105.59 HV0.1)for the wE43 and wE43-n HA,*** is found that increasing FSP passes improved the uniform distribution of n HA particles within the composite matrix which led to improved corrosion resistance and less degradation *** corrosion rate of the FSPed wE43/n HA composite after three passes was reduced by 38.2%(4.13 mm/year)and the degradation rate was reduced by 69.7%(2.87 mm/y).This is attributed to secondary phase(Mg24Y5and Mg41Nd5)particle fragmentation and redistribution,as well as a homogeneous distribution of n ***,the growing Ca-P and Mg(OH)2layer formed on the surface represented a protective layer that reduced the degradation *** wettability test revealed a relatively hydrophilic surface with water contact angle of 49.1±2.2°compared to 71.2±2.1°for base ***,biomineralization test showed that apatite layer grew after immersion 7d in simulated body fluid with atomic ratio of Ca/P 1.60 approaching the stoichiometric ratio(1.67)indicating superior bioactivity of FSPed wE43/n HA composite after three *** results raise that the grain refinement by FSP and introduction of n HA partic

Building Automation Systems(BASs)are seeing increased usage in modern society due to the plethora of benefits they provide such as automation for climate control,HVAC systems,entry systems,and lighting *** BASs in use are outdated and suffer from numerous vulnerabilities that stem from the design of the underlying BAS *** this paper,we provide a comprehensive,up-to-date survey on BASs and attacks against seven BAS protocols including BACnet,EnOcean,KNX,Lonworks,Modbus,zigBee,and *** studies of secure BAS protocols are also presented,covering BACnet Secure Connect,KNX Data Secure,KNX/IP Secure,ModBus/TCP Security,EnOcean High Security and z-wave *** and zigBee do not have security *** point out how these security protocols improve the security of the BAS and what issues remain.A case study is provided which describes a real-world BAS and showcases its vulnerabilities as well as recommendations for improving the security of *** seek to raise awareness to those in academia and industry as well as highlight open problems within BAS security.

Dynamic Deformation of Frozen Soil at a High Strain Rate:Experiments and Damage-Coupled Constitutive Model

The dynamic compressive deformation of frozen soil was investigated by conducting the split-Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)experiments at three temperatures and different high strain rates,and the dynamic stress–strain responses and failure modes of the frozen soil were *** experimental results demonstrate that the frozen soil exhibits evident dependence on the strain rate and temperature under the dynamic loading *** dynamic compressive stress–strain curve of the frozen soil was divided into three parts:the linear,nonlinear rising,and strain softening *** nonlinear rising and strain softening parts were both caused by the damage attributed to the debonding between the ice particles and soil matrix,from which a rate-dependent damage evolution equation was ***,a damage-coupled dynamic viscoelastic constitutive model of frozen soil at high strain rate was derived.A comparison between the theoretically predicted results and the experimental ones showed that the developed dynamic viscoelastic model could well describe the dynamic mechanical behavior of frozen soil at high strain rate.

The poor corrosion and wear resistances of Mg alloys seriously limit their potential applications in various *** conventional epoxy coating easily forms many intrinsic defects during the solidification process,which cannot provide sufficient *** the current study,we design a double-layer epoxy composite coating on Mg alloy with enhanced anti-corrosion/wear properties,via the spin-assisted assembly *** outer layer is functionalized graphene(Fg)in waterborne epoxy resin(wEP)and the inner layer is Ce-based conversion(Ce)*** Fg sheets can be homogeneously dispersed within the epoxy matrix to fill the intrinsic defects and improve the barrier *** Ce film connects the outer layer with the substrate,showing the transition *** corrosion rate of Ce/wEP/Fg composite coating is 2131 times lower than that of bare Mg alloy,and the wear rate is decreased by~90%.The improved corrosion resistance is attributed to the labyrinth effect(hindering the penetration of corrosive medium)and the obstruction of galvanic coupling *** synergistic effect derived from the Fg sheet and blocking layer exhibits great potential in realizing the improvement of multi-functional integration,which will open up a new avenue for the development of novel composite protection coatings of Mg alloys.
