Transnational public and global health education in China

Transnational public and global health programs in China have rapidly expanded over the past 20 years,and have potential to make important contributions to China’s global health ***,there has been sparse if any literature specific to transnational public and global health higher education in *** response,this perspective article aims to:(1)outline current transnational public and global health programs in China,and(2)delineate opportunities and challenges for transnational public and global health programs to enhance China’s global health *** on internet searches,eight active transnational public and global health programs in China were identified in September 2022(one Bachelors;four Masters;three doctorate).Degree awarding institutions are located in Australia,Portugal,the United Kingdom,and the United *** for stand-alone transnational programs were co-delivered by faculty from the Chinese and foreign sponsoring *** earliest and latest programs were respectively established in 2001 and 2022,and the average year of establishment was *** endurance of some programs(three programs operating≥10 years)indicates the potential sustainability of transnational public and global health programs in ***,opportunities for cross-cultural engagement appear to be constrained by lack of English(or other language)requirements in some programs,limited recruitment of international students,pandemic travel restrictions,and a dearth of funding for global health research outside *** addition,students enrolled at transnational universities in China are currently ineligible for China Scholarship Council *** China’s need for global health capacity grows amid a rapidly shrinking population of younger citizens,strategic investments in transnational public and global health programs may be of increasing value.

Permian hydrothermal activity in the Tarim Basin may have been responsible for the invasion of hot brines into Ordovician carbonate *** have been undertaken to explain the origin and geochemical characteristics of the diagenetic fluid present during this hydrothermal event although there is no consensus on *** present a genetic model resulting from the study of δC,δO,δS,and Sr/Sr isotope values and fluid inclusions(FIs) from fracture- and vug-filling calcite,saddle dolomite,fluorite,barite,quartz,and anhydrite from Ordovician outcrops in northwest(Nw) Tarim Basin and subsurface cores in Central Tarim *** presence of hydrothermal fluid was confirmed by minerals with fluid inclusion homogenization temperatures being >10℃higher than the paleo-formation burial temperatures both in the Nw Tarim and in the Central Tarim *** mixing of hot(>200℃),high-salinity(>24 wt%NaCI),Sr-rich(up to 0.7104) hydrothermal fluid with cool(60-100℃),low-salinity(0 to 3.5 wt%NaCI),also Sr-rich(up to 0.7010) meteoric water in the Ordovician unit was supported by the salinity of fluid inclusions,and δC,δOr and Sr/Sr isotopic values of the diagenetic ***-migrated hydrothermal fluids from the deeper Cambrian strata may have contributed to the hot brine with high sulfate concentrations which promoted thermochemical sulfate reduction(TSR) in the Ordovician,resulting in the formation of C-rich(δC as low as-13.8‰) calcite and S-rich(δS values from 21.4‰ to29.7‰) HS,pyrite,and elemental *** fluid mixing with fresh water in Ordovician strata in Tarim Basin was facilitated by deep-seated faults and up-reaching faults due to the pervasive Permian magmatic ***,fluid mixing,hydrothermal dolomitization,TSR,and faulting may have locally dissolved the host carbonates and increased the reservoir porosity and permeability,which has significant implications for hydrocarbon exploration.

Synergistic effect of silicon availability and salinity on metal adsorption in a common estuarine diatom

Increasing nitrogen and phosphorus discharge and decreasing sediment input have made silicon(Si)a limiting element for diatoms in *** in nutrient structure and salinity fluctuation can greatly affect metal uptake by estuarine ***,the combined effects of Si and salinity on metal accumulation in these diatoms have not been *** this study,we aimed to investigate how salinity and Si availability combine to influence the adsorption of metals by a widely distributed diatom Phaeodactylum *** data indicate that replete Si and low salinity in seawater can enhance cadmium and copper adsorption onto the diatom *** the single-cell level,surface potential was a dominant factor determining metal adsorption,while surface roughness also contributed to the highermetal loading capacity at lower *** a combination of noninvasive micro-test technology,atomic force microscopy,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,we demonstrate that the diversity and abundance of the functional groups embedded in diatom cell walls vary with salinity and Si *** results in a change in the cell surface potential and transient metal *** study provides novel mechanisms to explain the highly variable metal adsorption capacity of a model estuarine diatom.

Seismic isolation design and resilience improvement of railway station considering the influence of near-fault pulse-like ground motions

To improve the resilience of railway stations,a typical station was selected as the research object,and an isolation design was ***-four groups of near-fault pulse-like ground motions were *** seismic resilience of the no-isolation railway stations(NIRS)and the isolation railway stations(IRS)were compared to provide a numerical result of the improvement in *** results show that in the station isolation design,the station's functional requirements and structural characteristics should be considered and the appropriate placement of isolation bearings is under the waiting *** the action of a rare earthquake,the repair cost,repair time,rate of harm and death of the IRS were decreased by 8.04 million,18.30 days,6.93×10^(-3)and 1.21×10^(-3),respectively,when compared to the *** IRS received a seismic resilience grade of three-stars and the NIRS only one-star,indicating that rational isolation design improves the seismic resilience of ***,for the design of stations close to earthquake faults,it is suggested to utilize appropriate isolation techniques to improve their seismic resilience.

Engineering atomic Rb-N configurations to tune radical pathways for highly selective photocatalytic H_(2)O_(2) synthesis coupled with biomass valorization

Photocatalytic oxygen reduction for hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))synthesis presents a green and costeffective production ***,achieving highly selective H_(2)O_(2)synthesis remains challenging,necessitating precise control over free radical reaction pathways and minimizing undesirable oxidative ***,we report for the visible light-driven simultaneous co-photocatalytic reduction of O2to H_(2)O_(2)and oxidation of biomass using the atomic rubidium-nitride modified carbon nitride(CNRb).The optimized CNRb catalyst demonstrates a record photoreduction rate of 8.01 mM h^(-1)for H_(2)O_(2)generation and photooxidation rate of 3.75 mM h^(-1)for furfuryl alcohol to furoic acid,achieving a remarkable solar-to-chemical conversion(SCC)efficiency of up to 2.27%.Experimental characterizations and DFT calculation disclosed that the introducing atomic Rb–N configurations allows for the high-selective generation of superoxide radicals while suppressing hydroxyl free radical *** is because the Rb–N serves as the new alternative site to perceive a stronger connection position for O2adsorption and reinforce the capability to extract protons,thereby triggering a high selective redox product *** study holds great potential in precisely regulating reactive radical processes at the atomic level,thereby paving the way for efficient synthesis of H_(2)O_(2)coupled with biomass valorization.

Airborne microorganisms(AM)have significant environmental and health *** studies have been conducted to investigate the factors influencing the composition and diversity of ***,the knowledge of AM with anthropogenic activities has not reach a *** this study,we took advantage of the dramatic decline of outdoor anthropogenic activities resulting from COVID-19 lockdown to reveal their *** collected airborne particulate matter before and during the lockdown period in two *** results showed that it was fungal diversity and communities but not bacteria obviously different between pre-lockdownand lockdown samples,suggesting that airborne fungiwere more susceptible to anthropogenic activities than ***,after the implementation of lockdown,the co-occurrence networks of both bacterial and fungal community became more complex,whichmight be due to the variation of microbial ***,Mantel test and correlation analysis showed that air pollutants also partly contributed to microbial *** fungal community was more affected by air pollutants than bacterial ***,some human pathogens like Nigrospora and Arthrinium were negatively correlated with air ***,our study highlighted the more impacts of anthropogenic activities on airborne fungal community than bacterial community and advanced the understanding of associations between anthropogenic activities and AM.

The role of axon guidance molecules in the pathogenesis of epilepsy

Current treatments for epilepsy can only manage the symptoms of the condition but cannot alter the initial onset or halt the progression of the disease. Consequently, it is crucial to identify drugs that can target novel cellular and molecular mechanisms and mechanisms of action. Increasing evidence suggests that axon guidance molecules play a role in the structural and functional modifications of neural networks and that the dysregulation of these molecules is associated with epilepsy susceptibility. In this review, we discuss the essential role of axon guidance molecules in neuronal activity in patients with epilepsy as well as the impact of these molecules on synaptic plasticity and brain tissue remodeling. Furthermore, we examine the relationship between axon guidance molecules and neuroinflammation, as well as the structural changes in specific brain regions that contribute to the development of epilepsy. Ample evidence indicates that axon guidance molecules, including semaphorins and ephrins, play a fundamental role in guiding axon growth and the establishment of synaptic connections. Deviations in their expression or function can disrupt neuronal connections, ultimately leading to epileptic seizures. The remodeling of neural networks is a significant characteristic of epilepsy, with axon guidance molecules playing a role in the dynamic reorganization of neural circuits. This, in turn, affects synapse formation and elimination. Dysregulation of these molecules can upset the delicate balance between excitation and inhibition within a neural network, thereby increasing the risk of overexcitation and the development of epilepsy. Inflammatory signals can regulate the expression and function of axon guidance molecules, thus influencing axonal growth, axon orientation, and synaptic plasticity. The dysregulation of neuroinflammation can intensify neuronal dysfunction and contribute to the occurrence of epilepsy. This review delves into the mechanisms associated with
