Development of donor specific antibodies after SARS-CoV-2 vaccination:what do we know so far?

Vaccination against Coronavirus disease-19(COVID-19)was pivotal to limit spread,morbidity and *** aim is to find out whether vaccines against COVID-19 lead to an immunological response stimulating the production of de novo donor specific antibodies(DSAs)or increase in mean fluorescence intensity(MFI)of pre-existing DSAs in kidney transplant recipients(KTRs).This study involved a detailed literature search through December 2nd,2023 using PubMed as the primary *** search strategy incorporated a combination of relevant Medical Subject Headings terms and keywords:"COVID-19","SARS-CoV-2 Vaccination","Kidney,Renal Transplant",and"Donor specific antibodies".The results from related studies were collated and analyzed.A total of 6 studies were identified,encompassing 460 KTRs vaccinated against *** responses were detected in 8 KTRs of which 5 had increased MFIs,1 had de novo DSA,and 2 were categorized as either having de novo DSA or increased *** were 48 KTRs with pre-existing DSAs prior to vaccination,but one study(Massa et al)did not report whether pre-existing DSAs were associated with post vaccination *** the remaining 5 studies,35 KTRs with pre-existing DSAs were identified of which 7 KTRs(20%)developed de novo DSAs or increased ***,no immunological response was detected in 452(98.3%)*** study affirms prior reports that COVID-19 vaccination is safe for KTRs,especially if there are no pre-existing ***,if KTRs have pre-existing DSAs,then an increased immunological risk may be *** findings need to be taken cautiously as they are based on a limited number of patients so further studies are still needed for confirmation.

wet-cupping therapy(wCT)is one of the oldest known medical techniques,used as a traditional and complementary therapy with a wide application all around the world for general *** on the effects of wCT on sports performance are sparse and ***,we aimed to explore the effects of wCT on repeated sprint ability,wellness,and exertion in young active ***-nine active adult males(age:[28±5]years;body height[177±8]cm;body mass:[79±7]kg;body mass index:[25.4±1.8]kg/m^(2))were selected for the *** participants performed a running-based sprint test on two separate occasions(Control and Post-wCT).wCT was performed 24 h before the testing *** completed the Hooper questionnaire to assess their well-being(i.e.,sleep,stress,fatigue,and soreness)before each *** rating of perceived exertion(RPE)was collected after each testing session.A higher maximum power(pwer(pwer(pwere recorded post-wCT as compared to Control session along with a better perceived sleep(pwere lower during the post-wCT compared to the Control *** present findings demonstrated that wCT moderately enhanced repeated sprint ability and had positive effects on perceived sleep,stress,and *** may be an effective ergogenic aid to improve repeated sprint ability and general wellbeing in young adult *** large-scale multicentric clinical studies are paramount to confirm the results of our study.

Epidemiological, Clinical, Therapeutic, and Evolutionary Aspects of Heart Failure in the Medical Department at Gao Regional Hospital

Introduction: Heart failure is a major public health pandemic, particularly in Africa, where its prevalence continues to increase. In northern Mali, few data exist, hence the interest of this study with the objective of studying the epidemiological, clinical and therapeutic and evolutionary aspects of Heart failure at the regional hospital of Gao. Patients and Methods: This was a cross-sectional, descriptive study that took place from July 2022 to June 2023 in the medical department at Gao Hospital. Results: The hospital prevalence of heart failure was 44.1%. The mean age was 47.30 ± 20 years (range: 16-88). Hypertension was the most common with 46.1%, followed by a sedentary lifestyle, and diabetes with 18.2% and 8.3% respectively;NYHA stage III-IV dyspnea was found in 83.9%. Reduced EF heart failure was present in 110 patients (76.9%), seventeen cases with moderately reduced EF (11.9%) and sixteen patients had preserved EF (11.2%). Global heart failure was the dominant (91.6%). The main etiologies of heart failure were dominated by hypertensive heart disease in 46 patients (32.2%), followed by postpartum cardiomyopathy with 43 cases (30.1%), primary dilated cardiomyopathy in 18 patients (12.6%), ischemic heart disease in 16 patients with 11.2%. Seven cases of valvular heart disease, or 4.9%. The evolution was favorable under treatment in 104 patients or 72.7%. In-hospital mortality was 14.7%. Conclusion: Heart failure is a common condition in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly in our country.

Nasopharyngeal liposarcoma is an extremely rare clinical entity. Less than ten cases have been reported in the literature. It mainly occurs in humans. The non-specificity of the clinical and radiological signs explains the difficulty of the diagnosis confirmed by anatomopathological and immunohistochemical examinations. Its pathogenesis remains obscure and often correlates with genetic abnormalities. Pleomorphic liposarcoma is its rarest subtype, remarkable for its aggressiveness and rapidity of growth. Complete surgical excision remains the treatment of choice. we report a case of liposarcoma whose diagnosis was made during histological examination coupled with immunohistochemistry. .

Distribution of Atmospheric Pollution in Southern Benin

This study focuses on air quality in southern Benin in order to show public authorities what the Beninese populations are exposed to for efficient decision-making. Two sampling campaigns were carried out, one in the wet period and the other in the dry season. The measurements were taken using a monitor called an “Air Quality Monitor”. For data processing, the multiple comparison methods of Dun (1961) and the wilcoxon test were used. To maintain legitimacy, all spatial data were included in the official cartographic repository of Benin: wGS 1984, Transverse Mercator Universe Projection (UTM), Zone 31 North. The Moran statistic was used to measure the levels of spatial autocorrelation of the variables studied and to test the significance. In order to locate the spatial subsets, the local spatial association indices of Anselin Local Moran and Getis-Ord, Gi* were used. In terms of results, on the 13 monitoring sites and the 8 parameters chosen to determine air quality, we do not note any significant inter-seasonal difference. Of the eight parameters, only three parameters present spatial autocorrelation leading to predictions of ambient air quality over the entire study area based on the distance separating the points, namely, PM2.5, PM10 and ambient air quality index (AQI). The localities affected by atmospheric pollution in South Benin are located in the south-western part of Benin, headed by Cotonou, which is heavily polluted by CO2, TCOV, PM10 and PM2.5.

Evaluation of Surgical Treatment of Distal Humeral Fractures in Adults

Introduction: Fractures of the distal end of the humerus are becoming increasingly frequent in young subjects because of the increase in road traffic accidents, and in elderly subjects because of osteoporosis related to aging populations. Materials and Methods: It was a prospective, monocentric study from January 2018 to December 2020 involving 14 patients who received and were treated surgically for distal humeral fractures and followed up. Results: we collected 14 patients, including 11 men (78.57%) and 3 women (21.43%), with a sex ratio of 3.7. The mean age was 36.41 years. The circumstances of onset were dominated by road traffic accidents, with 12 cases (85.71%). The dominant side was right-handed, with 11 cases (78.57%). Standard elbow radiography revealed 8 cases of type A fractures (57.14%), 4 cases of type B and 2 cases of type C fractures of the AO. we performed Lecestre plate osteosynthesis in 12 patients and external fixator in 2 others, using the trans-olecranial and transtricipital approaches. Elbow stiffness was the most frequent complication, with 6 cases (42.86%). After six months’ follow-up, our results were excellent and good in 78.57% of cases (MEPS). Conclusion: Surgical treatment with posterior approaches enabled us to achieve restitution of the articular surfaces, solid restraint and early mobilization of the elbow with satisfactory functional results.

Conservation of challenging endemic plant species at high risk of extinction in arid mountain ecosystems:a case study of Rosa arabica Cré*** Egypt

Rosa arabica Cré*** a perennial shrub belonging to the family *** is endemic to the high mountain area of *** Protected Area(SCPA)in southern Sinai,Egypt,and is listed as one of the most 100 threatened plants in the ***,it has been listed as critically endangered by IUCN Red List due to its small extent of occurrence and tiny population *** reported the continuous decline in habitat quality for this species and the urgent need to carry out on-ground conservation ***,this research aims to conserve Rosa arabica through in situ practices by implementing the following steps,respectively:a)evaluate the current conservation status through IUCN Red List to extract the environmental factors controlling the species’distribution necessary for establishing the recovery program,b)determine the potential species habitat suitability under the current climate conditions using Maxent,and c)based on the previous two steps,the translocation process for *** in the suitable habitat will be done after the simple layering process as one of the most effective traditional vegetative methods for wild cultivation for this *** steps aimed to reduce the impact of threats and the risk of extinction through increasing the population size,the Extent of Occurrence(EOO),and the Area of Occupancy(AOO).we extracted the environmental factors controlling the target species’distribution and habitat suitability range using the IUCN Red List assessment and Species Distribution Model(SDM).The most suitable habitat for *** is predicted in the middle northern parts of SCPA,with the highest suitability in the High *** of driest quarter,precipitation of wettest month,precipitation of coldest quarter,and aspect are the highest mean contributors determining the distribution of *** in *** arabica potential distribution covers 324.4 km^(2)(7.46%)of the total SCPA area(4350 km^(2)).This area is divided into:18.1 km^(2)high

Omphalocele Diagnosis Problem in Rural Environment

Introduction: An omphalocele is a congenital malformation due to a failure of closure of the umbilical ring with exteriorization of the abdominal viscera covered by the translucent and avascular amniotic membrane. we report a case of giant omphalocele unrecognized at birth followed by a review of the literature. Observation: This was a 4-year-old girl admitted to the department for umbilical swelling that had been present since birth. Clinical and paraclinical examinations made it possible to objectivize a post-omphalocele hernia with hepatic content plus ectopic accession of the left ureter, the surgical procedure consisted of reintroducing the liver associated with a cure of the hernia + ureterovesical reimplantation. Conclusion: Omphalocele is a congenital malformation, antenatal diagnosis is possible during morphological ultrasound from the 12th week.
