Pancreatic cancer is usually associated with a poor *** is the main curative treatment but pancreatic operations are aggressive and new tools that help clinicians to predict surgical and prognostic outcomes are *** et al recently published a retrospective,single centre cohort study evaluating the impact of seven nutritional and inflammatory markers in pancreatic cancer surgical patients:The albumin-to-globulin ratio,prognostic nutritional index(PNi),systemic immune-inflammation index(sii),neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR),platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio(PLR),nutritional risk index,and the geriatric nutritional risk index.A significant correlation was found between the PNi,sii,NLR,and PLR and a hospital discharge of less than 15 *** a univariable analysis,PNi,sii,NLR and PLR were significantly related to recurrence-free survival and,in a multivariable analysis PNi was associated with overall *** meta-analyses corroborate the results in terms of prognosis but individual studies are discordant on their ***,the cut-off values for these markers vary significantly between studies and there are no clinical trials comparing them to identify the most relevant *** are limitations when implementing nutritional and inflammatory biomarkers into clinical practice and further studies are needed in order to answer these questions.

The effect of the partial substitution of Casup>2+sup> by Hosup>3+sup> ions on the electrical and mechanical properties of the superconducting phase (Bi,Pb)-2223 was studied. superconducting samples of the type (Bisub>1.8sub>Pbsub>0.4sub>)srsub>2sub>Casub>2.1?x sub>Hosub> xsub>Cusub>3.1sub>Osub>10+δsub> were prepared by solid-state reaction technique under ambient pressure, and characterized by means of X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (sEM). The superconducting transition temperature T sub>csub> and pseudogap temperature T* were estimated from electrical resistivity measurements, while the critical current density J sub>csub> was determined from i-V curves. The electrical resistivity data were discussed according to bipolaron model in the absence of thermally excited individual polarons. The sample with x = 0.025 showed the highest phase volume fraction, T sub>csub>, and J sub>csub>. Room temperature Vickers microhardness measurements were carried out at different applied loads (0.25-5 N) in order to investigate the performance of the mechanical properties of (Bisub>1.8sub>Pbsub>0.4sub>)srsub>2sub>Casub>2.1?x sub>Hosub> xsub>Cusub>3.1sub>Osub>10+δsub> phase. it was found that all the samples exhibit normal indentation size effect (isE). The Vickers microhardness number H sub>Vsub> increased as x increased from 0 to 0.025. The experimental results were discussed in view of Meyer’s law, Hays-Kendall (HK) approach, elastic/plastic deformation (EPD) model, and proportional specimen resistance (PsR) model. The load independent (true) microhardness of (Bisub>1.8sub>Pbsub>0.4sub>)srsub>2sub>Casub>2.1?x sub>Hosub> xsub>Cusub>3.1sub>Osub>10+δsub> superconducting samples showed identical behavior to that of the PsR model.

in this study, we report on advanced Ni3Al based high temperature structural alloys with Zr and B addition in order to apply in the fields of die-casting and high temperature press forming as die materials. Microstructures and mechanical properties of Ni3Al based intermetallic alloys produced by vacuum arc melting were investigated in terms of phase analysis by using a scanning electron microscope （sEM） equipped with an X-ray energy dispersive spectrometer （EDs）, an X-ray diffractometer （XRD） and tensile test. The duplex microstructural feature consisting of γ＇ matrix phase and small intermetallic dispersoids was observed to be distributed over the whole microstructure. The ultimate tensile strength of the present alloy was superior to commercial iron-based and Ni-based die-materials especially in the high temperature region.

Deposition of nanocrystalline silicon （nc-si） on glass at very low temperatures by electron cyclotron resonance （ECR） plasma enhanced chemical vapour deposition （PECVD） was investigated. it was shown that nc-si could be deposited from hydrogen diluted silane gas at a substrate temperature of 80℃ with a crystalline fraction up to 80% and a lateral grain size of around 50 nm. This was achieved by growing the nc-si in a low pressure regime which ensured that mono-silyl species were the dominant deposition precursor. Furthermore, a high flux of energetic hydrogen ions was required to induce crystallisation of the silicon material through a chemical annealing process.

Electrical energy is essential for modern society to sustain economic *** soaring demand for the electrical energy,together with an awareness of the environmental impact of fossil fuels,has been driving a shift towards the utilization of solar ***,traditional solar energy solutions often require extensive spaces for a panel installation,limiting their practicality in a dense urban *** overcome the spatial constraint,researchers have developed transparent photovoltaics(TPV),enabling windows and facades in vehicles and buildings to generate electric *** TPV advancements are focused on improving both transparency and power output to rival commercially available silicon solar *** this review,we first briefly introduce wavelength-and non-wavelengthselective strategies to achieve *** of merit and theoretical limits of TPVs are discussed to comprehensively understand the status of current TPV *** we highlight recent progress in different types of TPVs,with a particular focus on solution-processed thin-film photovoltaics(PVs),including colloidal quantum dot PVs,metal halide perovskite PVs and organic *** applications of TPVs are also reviewed,with emphasis on agrivoltaics,smart windows and ***,current challenges and future opportunities in TPV research are pointed out.

in this work the microstructure, mechanical properties and wear resistance of Fe-Al based alloys with various alloying elements were studied. The microstructures were examined by optical and scanning electron microscopy （sEM） equipped with an energy dispersive X-ray spectroscope （EDs）. Two types of alloys were prepared by vacuum arc melting. One is Fe-28Al based alloys （D03 structured） with and without alloying elements such as Mo and Zr. The other one is Fe-35Al based alloys （B2 structured） produced with the same manner. For both types of alloys, Mo addition had found to exhibit an equiaxed microstructure, while dendritic structure was observed to show the effect of Zr addition. These microstructural features were more evinced with increasing content of alloying element. Concerning the mechanical properties and wear resistance, Fe-35Al based alloys were superior to Fe-28Al based alloys over the whole temperature range investigated.

A new modified model of nonlinear arcsin-electrodynamics with two parameters is proposed and *** obtain the corrections to the Coulomb law. The effect of vacuum birefringence takes place when the external constant magnetic field is present. we calculate indices of refraction for two perpendicular polarizations of electromagnetic waves and estimate bounds on the parameter γ from the BMV and PVLAs experiments. it is shown that the electric field of a point-like charge is finite at the origin. we calculate the finite static electric energy of point-like particles and demonstrate that the electron mass can have the pure electromagnetic nature. The symmetrical Belinfante energy-momentum tensor and dilatation current are found. we show that the dilatation symmetry and dual symmetry are broken in the model suggested. we have investigated the gauge covariant quantization of the nonlinear electrodynamics fields as well as the gauge fixing approach based on Dirac's brackets.

Axonal regeneration following surgical nerve repair is slow and often incomplete,resulting in poor functional recovery which sometimes contributes to lifelong ***,there are no FDA-approved therapies available to promote nerve *** accelerates axonal regeneration,but systemic side effects presently outweigh its potential benefits for peripheral nerve *** authors describe herein a biodegradable polyurethane-based drug delivery system for the sustained local release of tacrolimus at the nerve repair site,with suitable properties for scalable production and clinical application,aiming to promote nerve regeneration and functional recovery with minimal systemic drug *** is encapsulated into co-axially electrospun polycarbonate-urethane nanofibers to generate an implantable nerve wrap that releases therapeutic doses of bioactive tacrolimus over 31 *** and drug loading are adjustable for applications in small and large caliber nerves,and the wrap degrades within 120 days into biocompatible *** released from the nerve wrap promotes axon elongation in vitro and accelerates nerve regeneration and functional recovery in preclinical nerve repair models while off-target systemic drug exposure is reduced by 80%compared with systemic *** its surgical suitability and preclinical efficacy and safety,this system may provide a readily translatable approach to support axonal regeneration and recovery in patients undergoing nerve surgery.
