The mountains of Southwest China comprise a significant large mountain range and biodiversity hotspot imperiled by global climate *** high species diversity in this mountain system has long been attributed to a complex set of factors,and recent large-scale macroevolutionary investigations have placed a broad timeline on plant diversification that stretches from 10 million years ago(Mya)to the *** our increasing understanding of the temporal mode of speciation,finer-scale populationlevel investigations are lacking to better refine these temporal trends and illuminate the abiotic and biotic influences of cryptic *** is largely due to the dearth of organismal sampling among closely related species and populations,spanning the incredible size and topological heterogeneity of this *** study dives into these evolutionary dynamics of speciation using genomic and ecomorphological data of Stellera chamaejasme *** identified four previously unrecognized cryptic species having indistinct morphological traits and large metapopulation of evolving lineages,suggesting a more recent diversification(~2.67-0.90 Mya),largely influenced by Pleistocene glaciation and biotic *** factors likely influenced allopatric speciation and advocated cyclical warming–cooling episodes along elevational gradients during the *** study refines the evolutionary timeline to be much younger than previously implicated and raises the concern that projected future warming may influence the alpine species diversity,necessitating increased conservation efforts.

The complex orogeny of the Himalaya and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau(QTP)fosters habitat fragmentation that drives morphological differentiation of mountain plant ***,determining phylogenetic relationships between plant subgenera using morphological characters is ***,we used both molecular phylogeny and historical biogeographic analysis to infer the ancestral states of several vegetative and reproductive characters of the montane genus *** determined the taxonomic position of the genus Incarvillea within its family and inferred the biogeographical origin of taxa through Bayesian inference(BI),maximum likelihood(ML)and maximum parsimony(MP)analyses using three molecular data sets(trnL-trnF sequences,nr ITS sequences,and a data set of combined sequences)derived from 81%of the total species of the genus *** the genus-level phylogenetic framework,we examined the character evolution of 10 key morphological characters,and inferred the ancestral area and biogeographical history of the *** analyses revealed that the genus Incarvillea is monophyletic and originated in Central Asia during mid-Oligocene ca.29.42 *** earliest diverging lineages were subsequently split into thewestern Himalaya and Sino-Himalaya during the early Miocene ca.21.12 *** lineages resulted in five re-circumscribed subgenera(Amphicome,Olgaea,Niedzwedzkia,Incarvillea,and Pteroscleris).Moreover,character mapping revealed the ancestral character states of the genus Incarvillea(e.g.,suffruticose habit,cylindrical capsule shape,subligneous capsule texture,absence of capsule wing,and loculicidal capsule dehiscence)that are retained at the earliest diverging ancestral nodes across the *** phylogenetic tree of the genus Incarvillea differs from previously proposed phylogenies,thereby recommending the placement of the subgenus Niedzwedzkia close to the subgenus Incarvillea and maintaining two main divergent lineages.

Himalayan alder species are proven to be very useful in traditional as well as contemporary agroforestry practice. These nitrogen-fixing trees are also useful in the land restoration. Therefore, understanding the distribution of Himalayan alder and the potential zone for plantation is meaningful in the agroforestry sector. Suitable climatic zones of Alnus spp. were modelled in Max Ent software using a subset of least correlated bioclimatic variables for current conditions(1950 -2000), topographic variables(DEM derived) and Landuse Landcover(LULC) data. we generated several models and selected the best model against random models using ANOVA and t-test. The environmental variables that best explained the current distribution of the species were identified and used to project into the future. For future projections, ensemble scenarios of climate change projection derived from the results of 19 Earth System Models(ESM) were used. Our model revealed that the most favorable conditions for Alnus nepalensis are in central Nepal in the moist north-west facing slope, whereas for Alnus nitida they are in western *** major climatic factor that contributes to Alnus species distribution in Nepal appears to be precipitation during the warmest quarter for A. nepalensis and precipitation during the driest quarter for A. nitida. Future projections revealed changes in the probability distribution of these species, as well as where they need conservation and where they can be planted. Also, our model predicts that the distribution of Alnus spp. in hilly regions will remain unchanged, and therefore may represent sites that can be used to revitalize traditional agroforestry systems and extract source material for land restoration.

The crystallization behavior of wollastonite glass-ceramics was investigated by means of X-ray diffraction （XRD） analysis and surface morphological observations, and the chemical compositions were evaluated by field emission-scanning electron microscopy （FE-SEM） and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （EDS）. Various heat treatment temperatures （850, 900, 950, 1000 and 1050 ℃） were used to obtain glass-ceramics of the ideal wollastonite crystal phase as well as optimum mechanical properties and chemical durability. From XRD, FE-SEM and EDS, the crystallization of acicular crystal phase in the matrix was achieved at heat treatment temperature of 1000 and 1050 ℃, and wollastonite （CaSiO3） was found in the acicular type main crystal phase in the glass-ceramics. Various properties, such as density, compressive strength, bending strength and chemical durability were also examined. The mechanical properties of glass-ceramics obtained at the heat treatment temperature of 1000 and 1050 ℃ were superior to those obtained at the heat treatment temperature of 850 ℃.

Predicting the impact of climate change on the distribution of two threatened Himalayan medicinal plants of Liliaceae in Nepal

Predicting the potential distribution of medicinal plants in response to climate change is essential for their conservation and management. Contributing to the management program, this study aimed to predict the distribution of two threatened medicinal plants, Fritillaria cirrhosa and Lilium nepalense. The location of focal species gathered from herbarium specimen housed in different herbaria and online databases were geo-referenced and checked for spatial autocorrelation. The predictive environmental variables were selected, and MaxEnt software was used to model the current and future distributions of focal species. Four Representative Concentration Pathway （RCP） trajectories of the BCC-CSMI.1 model were used as the future （2050） projection layer. The MaxEnt modelling delineated the potential distribution of F. cirrhosa and L. nepalense. The current suitability is projected towards Central and Eastern Hilly/Mountainous regions. Both species gain maximum suitability in RCP 4.5 which decline towards other trajectories for L. nepalense. Overall, both the focal species shift towards the north-west, losing their potential habitat in hilly and lower mountainous regions by 2050 across all trajectories. Our results highlight the impact of future climate change on two threatened and valuable species. The results can be further useful to initiate farming of these medicinally and economically important species based on climatically suitable zone and for designing a germplasm conservation strategy.

The recent rapid development in information systems （ISs） has resulted in a critical need for integration and interoperability between heterogeneous ISs in various domains, using specific commonalities. However, stovepipe systems have been caused due to inconsistencies in planning IS architecture among stakeholders. So far, there has been no research on an enterprise architecture framework （EAF） that can satisfy with the coefficient factors of system architecture （SA） and enterprise architecture （EA）. This paper proposes a new EAF that can resolve the problems inherent in existing legacy EAFs and their features. EAFoC （Enterprise Architecture Framework based on Commonality） is based on commonality that can be satisfied as the coefficient factors in both SA and EA within a common information technology （IT） domain. Thus, it should be possible to integrate an established heterogeneous framework for each stakeholder＇s view. Consequently, the most important contribution of this paper is to establish the appropriate EAFoC for the development of consistent IS architecture, smooth communication among stakeholders, systematic integration management of diversified and complicated new IT technologies, interoperability among heterogeneous ISs, and reusability based on commonality with other platforms.

Bioactive glass based scaffolds coated with gelatin for the sustained release of icariin

Gelatin-coated,3D sponge-like scaffolds based on 45S5 bioactive glass were produced using the foam replication *** strength tests of gelatin-coated samples compared to uncoated scaffolds showed significant strengthening and toughening effects of the gelatin coating with compressive strength values in the range of cortical ***,the crosslinked gelatin network(using either caffeic acid or N-(3-Dimethylaminopropyl)-N′-ethylcarbodiimide hydrochloride(EDC)/N-hxdroxysuccinimide(NHS)as crosslinking agent)was shown to be a suitable candidate for the sustained release of the bioactive molecule *** bioactivity of the produced scaffolds,characterization by FTIR and SEM indicated the formation of hydroxyapatite(HA)in all samples after immersion in simulated body fluid(SBF)for 14 days,highlighting the favorable combination of mechanical robustness,bioactivity and drug delivery capability of this new type of scaffolds.

This study focuses on inventory strategies of Internet retailers (etailers). The etailer faces options of holding her own inventory or outsourcing through the third party(ies). we assess etailer inventory strategies through mathematical modeling and numerical experiments. when ordering and holding her own stock, the etailer has full control of the order fulfillment process but bears the inventory-related risk. when outsourcing stock, etailer’s orders may not get an equal priority as for those of the third party’s own. Built upon simple operations research models, the numerical experiments suggest that the etailer is better off relying on others to fulfill orders if her demand (profit margin) is low, but should revert to the strategy of maintaining her own inventory if her sales volume (profit margin) is relatively high. Other factors are also investigated. These findings seem to confirm what are being practiced in the industry.
