Carbon nanodots:A metal-free,easy-to-synthesize,and benign emitter for light-emitting electrochemical cells

Light-emitting electrochemical cells(LECs)can be fabricated with cost-efficient printing and coating methods,but a current drawback is that the LEC emitter is commonly either a rare-metal complex or an expensive-to-synthesize conjugated ***,we address this issue through the pioneering employment of metal-free and facile-to-synthesize carbon nanodots(CNDs)as the emitter in functional LEC ***-shaped(average diameter=4.4 nm)and hydrophilic CNDs,which exhibit narrow cyan photoluminescence(peak=485 nm,full width at half maximum=30 nm)with a high quantum yield of 77%in dilute ethanol solution,were synthesized with a catalyst-free,one-step solvothermal process using low-cost and benign phloroglucinol as the sole starting *** propensity of the planar CNDs to form emission-quenching aggregates in the solid state was inhibited by the inclusion of a compatible 2,7-bis(diphenylphosphoryl)-9,9’-spirobifluorene host compound,and we demonstrate that such pristine host-guest CND-LECs turn on to a peak luminance of 118 cd·m^(−2)within 5 s during constant current-density driving at 77 mA·cm^(−2).

Artificial intelligence(AI), particularly deep learning algorithms, is gaining extensive attention for its excellent performance in image-recognition tasks. They can automatically make a quantitative assessment of complex medical image characteristics and achieve an increased accuracy for diagnosis with higher efficiency. AI is widely used and getting increasingly popular in the medical imaging of the liver, including radiology, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine. AI can assist physicians to make more accurate and reproductive imaging diagnosis and also reduce the physicians' workload. This article illustrates basic technical knowledge about AI, including traditional machine learning and deep learning algorithms, especially convolutional neural networks, and their clinical application in the medical imaging of liver diseases, such as detecting and evaluating focal liver lesions, facilitating treatment, and predicting liver treatment response. we conclude that machine-assisted medical services will be a promising solution for future liver medical care. Lastly, we discuss the challenges and future directions of clinical application of deep learning techniques.

CO oxidation over ceria supported Au_(22) nanoclusters: Shape effect of the support

Gold（Au） nanoclusters have recently emerged as ideal models for understanding Au catalysis, because the nanosized Au particles have precise atomic numbers and uniform size. In this work, we studied for the first time the support shape effect on the catalysis of Au nanoclusters by using CO oxidation as a model reaction. Au22（L8）6（L = 1,8-bis（diphenylphosphino） octane） nanoclusters were supported on CeO2 rods or cubes, then pretreated at different temperatures（up to 673 K）, allowing the gradual removal of the organic phosphine ligands. CO oxidation test over these differently pretreated samples shows that CeO2 rods are much better supports than cubes for Au22 nanoclusters in enhancing the reaction rate. In situ IR spectroscopy coupled with CO adsorption indicates that the shape of CeO2 support can impact the nature and quantity of exposed Au sites, as well as the efficiency of organic ligand removal. Although CeO2 rods are helpful in exposing a greater percentage of total Au sites upon ligands removal, the percentage of active Au sites（denoted by Au d＋, 0 〈 d 〈 1） is lower than that on CeO2 cubes. The in situ extended X-ray absorption spectroscopy（EXAfS） and high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy（HAADf-STEM） results show that the Au nanoclusters bound more strongly to the CeO2 rods than to the cubes where the Au nanoclusters show more sintering. Considering the typical redox mechanism for CO oxidation over supported Au nanoclusters and nanoparticles, it is concluded that the reactivity of the lattice oxygen of CeO2 is the determining factor for CO oxidation over Au22/CeO2. CeO2 rods offer more reactive lattice oxygen and abundant oxygen vacancies than the cubes and thus make the rods a superior support for Au nanoclusters in catalyzing low temperature CO oxidation.

we investigate properties of the ponderomotive squeezing in an optomechanical system with two coupled resonators,where the tunable two-mode squeezing spectrum can be observed from the output *** is realized that the squeezing orientation can be controlled by the detuning between the left cavity and pump ***,both cavity decay and environment temperature play a positive role in generating better pondermotive squeezing *** squeezing spectra with a wide squeezing frequency range can be obtained by appropriate choice of parameters present in our optomechanical system.

The early history of life harbours many unresolved evolutionary questions, none more important than the genomic origin and cellular evolution of eukaryotes. An issue central to eukaryote origin concerns the position of eukaryotes in the tree of life and the relationship of the host lineage that acquired the mitochondrion some two billion years ago to lineages of modern-day archaea. Recent analyses indicate that the host lineage branches within the Archaea, prompting the search for novel archaeal lineages that can improve our understanding of the cellular evolution of eukaryotes. Here we give a brief review of the studies on Archaea, the tree of life and the cellular evolution of eukaryotes, which is followed by an overview of recent progress fueled by new genomic technologies and recent status of archaeal research in China. future directions for the study of early evolution are considered.

The atomic level structures of fcc/bcc interfaces in an fe-9Ni alloy have been examined by means of HREM. It has been found that the orientation of γ prime /α interface had great effects on its atomic structure. These interfaces with different orientations may be composed of only structural ledges, structural ledges with misfit dislocations, superledges with misfit dislocations or only misfit dislocations. A structural model of growth ledge was suggested. The terrace of growth ledge was composed of structural ledges or misfit dislocations. The atomic structure of the riser of growth ledge was the same as that of the side facet of γ prime lath, which is composed of superledges with misfit dislocations.

The ecological effects of eucalypt plantations（EPs） have garnered increasing *** understand their effect on soil quality at a landscape scale,and to determine whether soil quality parameters differ due to different stand types,we evaluated soil characteristics in twenty-one groups of EPs,Pinus massoniana ***（PMPs） and natural broadleaved forests（NBfs）across Guangdong Province,*** the physical characteristics of soil hydrology and the properties of soil nutrients in A and B horizons were *** showed that,compared to NBfs,EPs and PMPs produced a shallower litter layer,reduced canopy density,higher soil bulk density,significantly lower total porosity,non-capillary porosity,total water volume,and hygroscopic water in the A horizon（P〈0.05）.Moreover,total N,available K,and soil organic carbon（SOC） in EPs and PMPs were significantly lower than in *** and PMPs did not differ significantly in N,P or K content,but PMPs had significantly lower SOC and boron in the A horizon than *** p H and poor capacity to buffer acidification generally occurred in all cover *** EPs and PMPs showed a decline in soil properties relative to NBfs,but EPs and PMPs exhibited no significant *** results indicate that actions are needed to ameliorate the potential negative effects on soil quality in forestry plantations.

Pattern matching(or string matching) is an essential task in computer science, especially in sequential pattern mining, since pattern matching methods can be used to calculate the support(or the number of occurrences) of a pattern and then to determine whether the pattern is frequent or not. A state-of-the-art sequential pattern mining with gap constraints(or flexible wildcards) uses the number of non-overlapping occurrences to denote the frequency of a pattern. Non-overlapping means that any two occurrences cannot use the same character of the sequence at the same position of the pattern. In this paper, we investigate strict pattern matching under the non-overlapping condition. we show that the problem is in P at first. Then we propose an algorithm, called NETLAP-Best, which uses Nettree structure. NETLAP-Best transforms the pattern matching problem into a Nettree and iterates to find the rightmost root-leaf path, to prune the useless nodes in the Nettree after removing the rightmost root-leaf path. we show that NETLAP-Best is a complete algorithm and analyse the time and space complexities of the algorithm. Extensive experimental results demonstrate the correctness and efficiency of NETLAP-Best.
