GPU-accelerated OcT imaging: Real-time data processing and artifact suppression for enhanced monitoring of 3D bioprinted tissues and vascular-like networks

Optical coherence tomography(OcT)imaging technology has significant advantages in in situ and noninvasive monitoring of biological ***,it still faces the following challenges:including data processing speed,image quality,and improvements in three-dimensional(3D)visualization *** technology,especially functional imaging techniques like optical coherence tomography angiography(OcTA),requires a long acquisition time and a large data *** the substantial increase in the acquisition speed of swept source optical coherence tomography(SS-OcT),it still poses significant challenges for data ***,during in situ acquisition,image artifacts resulting from interface reflections or strong reflections from biological tissues and culturing containers present obstacles to data visualization and further ***,a customized frequency domainfilter with anti-banding suppression parameters was designed to suppress artifact ***,this study proposed a graphics processing unit(GPU)-based real-time data processing pipeline for SS-OcT,achieving a measured line-process rate of 800 kHz for 3D fast and high-quality data ***,a GPU-based realtime data processing for cc-OcTA was integrated to acquire dynamic ***,a vascular-like network chip was prepared using extrusion-based 3D printing and sacrificial materials,with sacrificial material being printed at the desired vascular network locations and then removed to form the vascular-like *** imaging technology was used to monitor the progression of sacrificial material removal and vascular-like network ***,GPU-based OcT enables real-time processing and visualization with artifact suppression,making it particularly suitable for in situ noninvasive longitudinal monitoring of 3D bioprinting tissue and vascular-like networks in microfluidic chips.

New Antibacterial Dihydropyrones Induced by co-culture of Penicillium crustosum PRB-2 and Penicillium citrinum HDN11-186

Two new dihydropyrones,rhytismatones c(1)and D(2),and a known compound,penicillenol A1(3),were isolated from the co-culture broth of the deep-sea-derived fungus Penicillium crustosum PRB-2 and Suaeda salsa-derived endophytic fungus Peni-cillium citrinum *** structures were elucidated through comprehensive analysis of nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)spectra and mass *** absolute configurations of new compounds were determined by calculating the electronic circular di-chroism(EcD)***-MS data showed that compounds 1–3 could only be detected in the media of co-culture,suggesting new biosynthetic pathways were activated in the co-cultured *** 1 showed obvious antibacterial activities against Pro-teus ***-1002 and Bacillus subtilis MMBc-1004 with minimum inhibitory concentration(MIc)both at 25μmolL^(-1).

It is common to observe the epidemic risk perception(ERP)and a decline in subjective well-being(SwB)in the context of public health events,such as corona Virus Disease 2019(cOVID-19).However,there have been few studies exploring the impact of individuals’ERP within living space on their SwB,especially from a geographical and daily activity perspective after the resumption of work and other activities following a wave of the *** this paper,we conducted a study with 789 participants in urban china,measuring their ERP within living space and examining its influence on their SwB using path *** results indicated that individuals’ERP within their living space had a significant negative effect on their *** density of certain types of facilities within their living space,such as bus stops,subway stations,restaurants,fast food shops,convenience shops,hospitals,and public toilets,had a significantly negative impact on their SwB,mediated by their ERP within living ***,participation in out-of-home work and other activities not only increased individuals’ERP within living space,but also strengthened its negative effect on their SwB.

comparative evaluation of SPE methods for biotoxicity assessment of water and wastewater:Linkage between chemical extracting efficiency and biotoxicity outcome

Biotoxicity assessment results of environmental waters largely depend on the sample extraction protocols that enrich pollutants to meet the effect-trigger thresholds of ***,more chemical mixture does not necessarily translate to higher combined ***,there is a need to establish the link between chemical extracting efficiency and biotoxicity outcome to standardize extraction methods for biotoxicity assessment of environmental *** study compares the performance of five different extraction phases in solid phase extraction(SPE),namely HLB,HLB+coconut,c18 cartridge,c18 disk and Strata-X,and evaluated their chemical extracting efficiencies and biotoxicity *** quantitatively assessed cytotoxicity,acute toxicity,genotoxicity,estrogenic activity,and neurotoxicity of the extracts using in vitro bioassays and characterized the chemical extracting efficiencies of the SPE methods through chemical recoveries of 23 model compounds with different polarities and total organic *** Pareto ranking,we identified HLB+coconut as the optimal SPE method,which exhibited the highest level of water sample biotoxicity and recovered the most chemicals in water *** found that the biotoxicity outcomes of the extracted water samples significantly and positively correlated with the chemical extracting efficiencies of the SPE ***,we observed synchronous changing patterns in biotoxicity outcome and chemical extracting efficiencies in response to increasing sample volumes per cartridge(SVPc)during *** findings underscore that higher chemical extracting efficiency of SPE corresponds to higher biotoxicity outcome of environmental water samples,providing a scientific basis for standardization of SPE methods for adequate assessment of biotoxicities of environmental waters.

Primary sclerosing cholangitis(PSc)is a biliary disease accompanied by chronic inflammation of the liver and biliary *** stem cells(MScs)are used to treat liver diseases because of their immune regulation and regeneration-promoting *** study was performed to explore the therapeutic potential of human placental MScs(hP-MScs)in PSc through the Takeda G protein-coupled receptor 5(TGR5)receptor *** tissues were collected from patients with PSc and healthy donors(n=4)for RNA sequencing and intrahepatic cholangiocyte organoid ***-MScs were injected via the tail vein into Mdr2^(-/-),bile duct ligation(BDL),and 3,5-diethoxycarbonyl-1,4-dihydrocollidine(DDc)mouse models or co-cultured with organoids to confirm their therapeutic effect on biliary *** in bile acid metabolic profile were analyzed by liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry(Lc-MS/MS).compared with healthy controls,liver tissues and intrahepatic cholangiocyte organoids from PSc patients were characterized by inflammation and cholestasis,and marked downregulation of bile acid receptor TGR5 ***-MSc treatment apparently reduced the inflammation,cholestasis,and fibrosis in Mdr2^(-/-),BDL,and DDc model *** activating the phosphatidylinositol 3 kinase/extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase pathway,hP-MSc treatment promoted the proliferation of cholangiocytes,and affected the transcription of downstream nuclear factorκB through regulation of the binding of TGR5 and Pellino3,thereby affecting the cholangiocyte inflammatory phenotype.

Glycidol is a common lipid-derived foodborne toxicant mainly presents in refined oils and related *** endothelial cells may be potential targets of the deleterious effects associated with glycidol *** human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVEcs),we found that glycidol treatment promoted endothelialto-mesenchymal transition(EndMT)at a lower concentration(0.5 mmol/L),while induced apoptosis and inflammation at a higher concentration(1 mmol/L).These harmful effects were achieved by the activation of NF-κB/MAPK signaling pathway and were mediated by reactive oxygen species(ROS).In addition,the protective potential of 6-c-(E-2-fluorostyryl)naringenin(6-cEFN)against glycidol was evaluated and compared with *** pre-treated with 6-cEFN,but not naringenin,displayed resistance to endothelial dysfunction caused by glycidol.

Optimizing high-coordination shell of co-based single-atom catalysts for efficient ORR and zinc-air batteries

Atom-level modulation of the coordination environment for single-atom catalysts(SAcs)is considered as an effective strategy for elevating the catalytic *** the MNxsite,breaking the symmetrical geometry and charge distribution by introducing relatively weak electronegative atoms into the first/second shell is an efficient way,but it remains challenging for elucidating the underlying mechanism of ***,a practical strategy was reported to rationally design single cobalt atoms coordinated with both phosphorus and nitrogen atoms in a hierarchically porous carbon derived from metal-organic frameworks.X-ray absorption spectrum reveals that atomically dispersed co sites are coordinated with four N atoms in the first shell and varying numbers of P atoms in the second shell(denoted as co-N/P-c).The prepared catalyst exhibits excellent oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)activity as well as zinc-air battery *** introduction of P atoms in the co-SAcs weakens the interaction between co and N,significantly promoting the adsorption process of ^(*)OOH,resulting in the acceleration of reaction kinetics and reduction of thermodynamic barrier,responsible for the increased intrinsic *** discovery provides insights into an ultimate design of single-atom catalysts with adjustable electrocatalytic activities for efficient electrochemical energy conversion.
