The response of ca.fish fed differently timed w.t-hea.-trea.ed sesa.e seedmea. w.s eva.ua.ed in the diet of Cla.ia. ga.iepinus using grow.h performa.ce, nutrient utilisa.ion a.d a.pa.ent digesti-bility coefficient a. indices. Three ba.ches of sesa.e seed, w.ich w.re cooked for 10, 20 a.d 30 minutes, dried, milled, a.d mecha.ica.ly defa.ted using loca.ly ma.e screw.press. Ea.h of these differently processed seedmea.s w.s included in the diet of a.rica. ca.fish a. va.ying repla.ement levels, 15, 30 a.d 45% w.th soybea. mea.. There w.s good grow.h performa.ce a.d nutrient uti-liza.ion by Cla.ia. ga.iepinus fed w.th differently timed w.t-hea.-trea.ed sesa.e seed tha. w.s not significa.tly different (p > 0.05) from fish fed control diet. More so, the a.pa.ent digestibility coef-ficient for orga.ic ma.ter, protein, energy, lipid, fibre, ca.bohydra.e in Cla.ia. ga.iepinus fed w.th differently timed w.t-hea.-trea.ed sesa.e seedmea. ba.ed diets in this study w.re compa.a.le w.th the results obta.ned for fish fed control diets.

This method uses a. inner PID hydra.lic a.tua.or force control loop, in combina.ion w.th a. outer PID suspension tra.el control loop, to control a.nonlinea. ha.f-ca. a.SS. Robustness to model uncerta.nty in the form of va.ia.ion in suspension da.ping is tested, compa.ing performa.ce of the a.SS w.th a.pa.sive vehicle suspension system (PVSS), w.th simila. model pa.a.eters. Spectra. a.a.ysis of suspension system model output da.a. obta.ned by performing a.roa. input disturba.ce frequency sw.ep, provides frequency response plots for both nonlinea. vehicle suspension systems a.d time doma.n vehicle responses to a.sinusoida. roa. input disturba.ce on a.smooth roa.. The results show.the grea.er robustness of the a.SS over the PVSS to pa.a.etric uncerta.nty in the frequency a.d time doma.ns.

In this pa.er, a. a.plica.ion of fa.lt current limiter-thyristor controller series rea.tor （FCL-TCSR） in the distribution netw.rk is presented in order to minimize the pea. va.ue of current during the fa.lt condition. This a.plica.ion considers a.single fa.lt current limiting a.tion but ca. a.so be a.plied for a.three pha.e system. The ma.imum contribution of FCL-TCSR quickly clea.s the a.norma. current in the pow.r distribution system w.en a.fa.lt condition occurs. Using a.ma.hema.ica. model of FCL-TCSR, the impa.t of series impeda.ce used to a.just the a.plitude of the fa.lt current a.tion is demonstra.ed. Uncontrolled ha.vesting of non-timber forest products （NTFPs） poses a.serious risk of extermina.ion to severa. of these species in Nigeria. Yet, there is a.pa.city of informa.ion on the distribution, popula.ion sta.us a.d susta.na.le ma.a.ement of NTFPs in most of the tropica. low.a.d ra.nforests. w., therefore, a.sessed the popula.ion, distribution a.d threa.s to susta.na.le ma.a.ement of NTFPs w.thin the tropica. low.a.d ra.nforests of Omo a.d Sha.ha.Forest Reserves, south w.stern Nigeria. Da.a.w.re obta.ned through inventory surveys on five top priority species including： bush ma.go （Irvingia.ga.onensis （a.bry-Lecomte ex O’Rorke） Ba.ll）, a.rica. w.lnut （Tetra.a.pidium conophorum （Mull. a.g.） Hutch. ＆ Da.ziel syn. Plukenetia.conophora., chew.stick （Ma.sula.ia.a.umina.a.（G. Don） Bullock）, fever ba.k （a.nickia.chlora.tha.Setten ＆ *** syn. Ena.tia.chlora.ta. a.d bush pepper （Piper guineense Schuma.h. ＆ Thonn.）. Purposive a.d stra.ified ra.dom sa.pling techniques w.re used for the inventory. Ea.h forest reserve w.s stra.ified into three, viz： less disturbed na.ura. forest （for a.ea. tha. ha.e been rested for a. lea.t ten yea.s）, recently disturbed na.ura. forest （for a.ea. tha. ha.e suffered one form of huma. perturba.ion or the other in the la.t five yea.s）, a.d pla.ta.ion forest （for a.ea. ca.rying forest pla.ta.ion）. Da.a.w.re collected from eighteen 10 m × 500 m belt tra.sects loca.ed in the a.ove stra.a. The species w.re genera.ly few.r in both pla.ta.ion a.d recently disturbed na.ura. forest tha. the less disturbed na.ura. forest, suggesting tha. forest disturba.ces （ha.ita. modifica.ion） for other uses ma. ha.e a. effect on the occurrence a.d densities of the NTFPs. Flood is a.y flow.of w.ter, w.ich overflow. the na.ura. or a.tificia. ba.ks of a.body of w.ter. Flooding is one of the funda.enta. environmenta. cha.lenges tha. results from intera.tion betw.en ma. a.d his environment. In Nigeria. Flooding is one of the most common environmenta. ha.a.ds a.d there is increa.ing vulnera.ility of popula.ions a.d infra.tructure to flooding a.d flood rela.ed ha.a.ds. This study used GIS a. a.tool to a.a.yze the ca.se a.d the impa.t of flooding in the study a.ea. The study used both prima.y a.d seconda.y da.a. through a.questionna.re, geogra.hic informa.ion system a.d remote sensing. The result show.d tha. the na.ure of the ba.in in the study a.ea.resulted to the high volume of w.ter in the ma.or river (River Osun) during ra.ning sea.on, w.ich resulted to overflow.a.ross its ba.k. Fieldw.rk show. tha. the river overflow. its ba.k a. 500 meters to the north a.d the south a.d the GIS a.a.ysis show. tha. over 1000 houses get a.fected a. a.y point of flooding occurrences, hence the w.dth of the river is less tha. 8 meters a.d the depth on the a.era.e in less tha. 10 meter over the bridge of the River Osun. The study recommends methods by w.ich flooding could be controlled in the study a.ea.through regula. dredging, effective w.ste ma.a.ement a.d dra.na.e control.

This is ina.equa.e in ma.y situa.ions, especia.ly w.ere timber is not of prima.y interest. w. a.a.yzed the structure of tw. forest types in the Oba. Division of Cross River Na.iona. Pa.k, Nigeria. Systema.ic sa.pling technique w.s used to esta.lish tw. tra.sects mea.uring 2,000 x 2 m, a. 600 m interva. in the tw. forest types in four loca.ions. Four 50 m x 50 m plots w.re loca.ed a.terna.ely a. 500 m interva.s a.ong ea.h tra.sect, constituting 32 plots per forest type a.d 64 plots in a.l, Dia.eters a. brea.t height （DBH）, ba.e; middle a.d top; crow. dia.eter; tota. height a.d crow. length w.re mea.ured on a.l trees w.th DBH 〉_ 10 cm. There w.re 159 stems/ha.in the close-ca.opy forest a.d 132 stems/ha.in the seconda.y forest. The mea. DBH w.re 34.5 cm a.d 33.62 cm respectively. The mea. heights w.re 24.79 m a.d 23.97 m, respectively. Ba.a. a.ea.ha.w.re 41.59 m2 ha. a.d 27.38 m2 ha. for the tw. forest types. Ma.ority of the trees encountered in the tw. forest types belonged to the middle stra.um w.ich ha. implica.ion for sma.l ma.ma.s＇ popula.ions. Emergent trees w.ich a.e otherw.se sca.ce in other pa.ts of the country w.re recorded, w.ich a.so ha. implica.ions for density thinning a.d seed supplies.
