The Submillimeter w.ve Astronomy Satellite(Sw.S)w.s the first space telescope capable of high spectral resolution observations of terahertz spectral *** have investigated the integration ability of its tw. receivers and spectrometer during five and a half years of on-orbit *** CI,O_(2),H_(2)O,and^(13)CO spectra taken tow.rd all observed Galactic sources w.re *** present results are based on spectra w.th a total integration time of up to 2.72×10~4hr(■10~8s).The noise in the spectra is generally consistent w.th that expected from the radiometer equation,w.thout any sign of approaching a noise *** noise performance reflects the extremely stable performance of the passively cooled front end as w.ll as other relevant components in the Sw.S instrument throughout its mission lifetime.

Background:The role of surgery in metastatic breast cancer(MBC)is currently *** novel statistical and deep learning(DL)methods promise to infer the suitability of surgery at the individual ***:The objective of this study w.s to identify the most applicable DL model for determining patients w.th MBC w.o could benefit from surgery and the type of surgery ***:w. introduced the deep survival regression w.th mixture effects(DSME),a semi-parametric DL model integrating three causal inference *** models w.re trained to make individualized treatment *** w.o received treatments in line w.th the DL models'recommendations w.re compared w.th those w.o underw.nt treatments divergent from the *** probability w.ighting(IPw.w.s used to minimize *** effects of various features on surgery selection w.re visualized and quantified using multivariate linear regression and causal ***:In total,5269 female patients w.th MBC w.re *** w.s an independent protective factor,outperforming other models in recommend-ing surgery(IPw.adjusted hazard ratio[HR]=0.39,95%confidence interval[CI]:0.19–0.78)and type of surgery(IPw.adjusted HR=0.66,95%CI:0.48–0.93).DSME w.s superior to other models and traditional guidelines,suggesting a higher proportion of patients benefiting from surgery,especially breast-conserving *** debiased effect of patient characteristics,including age,tumor size,metastatic sites,lymph node status,and breast cancer subtypes,on surgery decision w.s also ***:Our findings suggested that DSME could effectively identify patients w.th MBC likely to benefit from surgery and the specific type of surgery *** method can facilitate the development of efficient,reliable treatment recommendation systems and provide quantifiable evidence for decision-making.

Comparison of Block Design Nonparametric Subset Selection Rules Based on Alternative Scoring Rules

This article compares the size of selected subsets using nonparametric subset selection rules w.th tw. different scoring rules for the observations. The scoring rules are based on the expected values of order statistics of the uniform distribution (yielding rank values) and of the normal distribution (yielding normal score values). The comparison is made using state motor vehicle traffic fatality rates, published in a 2016 article, w.th fifty-one states (including DC as a state) and over a nineteen-year period (1994 through 2012). The earlier study considered four block design selection rules—tw. for choosing a subset to contain the “best” population (i.e., state w.th low.st mean fatality rate) and tw. for the “w.rst” population (i.e., highest mean rate) w.th a probability of correct selection chosen to be 0.90. Tw. selection rules based on normal scores resulted in selected subset sizes substantially smaller than corresponding rules based on ranks (7 vs. 16 and 3 vs. 12). For tw. other selection rules, the subsets chosen w.re very close in size (w.thin one). A comparison is also made using state homicide rates, published in a 2022 article, w.th fifty states and covering eight years. The results are qualitatively the same as those obtained w.th the motor vehicle traffic fatality rates.

This article addresses the issue of computing the constant required to implement a specific nonparametric subset selection procedure based on ranks of data arising in a statistical randomized block experimental design. A model of three populations and tw. blocks is used to compute the probability distribution of the relevant statistic, the maximum of the population rank sums minus the rank sum of the “best” population. Calculations are done for populations follow.ng a normal distribution, and for populations follow.ng a bi-uniform distribution. The least favorable configuration in these cases is show. to arise w.en all three populations follow.identical distributions. The bi-uniform distribution leads to an asymptotic counterexample to the conjecture that the least favorable configuration, i.e., that configuration minimizing the probability of a correct selection, occurs w.en all populations are identically distributed. These results are consistent w.th other large-scale simulation studies. All relevant computational R-codes are provided in appendices.

Abstract Defense priming is defined as increased readiness of defense induction. A grow.ng body of literature indicates that plants （or intact parts of a plant） are primed in anticipation of impending environmental stresses, both biotic and abiotic, and upon the follow.ng stimulus, induce defenses more quickly and strongly. For instance, some plants previously exposed to herbivore-inducible plant volatiles （HIPVs） from neighboring plants under herbivore attack show.faster or stronger defense activation and enhanced insect resistance w.en challenged w.th secondary insect feeding. Research on priming of antiherbivore defense has been limited to the HIPV-mediated mechanism until recently, but significant advances w.re made in the past three years, including non-HIPV-mediated defense priming, epigenetic modifications as the molecular mechanism of priming, and others. It is timely to consider the advances in research on defense priming in the plant- insect interactions.

BACKGROUND Survival in patients w.th autoimmune liver disease overlap syndromes(AILDOS)compared to those w.th single autoimmune liver disease is *** To investigate the survival of patients w.th AILDOS and assess the accuracy of non-invasive serum models for predicting liver-related *** Patients w.th AILDOS w.re defined as either autoimmune hepatitis and primary biliary cholangitis overlap(AIH-PBC)or autoimmune hepatitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis overlap(AIH-PSC)and w.re identified from three tertiary centres for this cohort ***-related death or transplantation(liver-related mortality)w.s determined using a population-based data linkage *** scores for liver-related death w.re compared for accuracy[including liver outcome score(LOS),Hepascore,Mayo Score,model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)score and MELD incorporated w.th serum sodium(MELD-Na)score].RESULTS Tw.nty-tw. AILDOS patients w.re follow.d for a median of 3.1 years(range,0.35-7.7).Fourteen w.re female,the median age w.s 46.7 years(range,17.8 to 82.1)and median Hepascore w.s 1(range,0.07-1).At five years post enrolment,57%of patients remained free from liver-related mortality(74%AIH-PBC,27%AIH-PSC).There w.s no significant difference in survival betw.en AIH-PBC and *** w.s a significant predictor of liver-related mortality(Pw.th AIH-PBC(n=14)but not AIH-PSC(n=8).A LOS cut-point of 6 discriminated liver-related mortality in AIH-PBC patients(P=0.012,log-rank test,100%sensitivity,77.8%specificity)(Harrell's C-statistic 0.867).The MELD score,MELD-Na score and Mayo Score w.re not predictive of liver-related mortality in any *** Survival in the rare,AILDOS is *** current study supports the LOS as a predictor of liver-related mortality in AIH-PBC *** trials investigating predictors of survival in AILDOS are required.

At least 1,065 introduced vertebrate species have been introduced in the United States and its territories, including at least 86 mammalian, 127 avian, 179 reptilian/amphibian, and 673 fish species. Examples in each major taxonomic group include domestic cat, small Indian mongoose, red fox, goat, pig, rabbit, rats, house mouse, gray squirrel, nutria, starling, Indian common myna, red-vented bulbul, brow. treesnake, red-eared slider, brow. trout, tilapia, and grass carp. w. briefly review.some of these species and the types of damage they cause. w. then review.the basic types of methods used for control or eradication of each taxonomic group, including physical, chemical, biological, and cultural methods. w. discuss some of the challenges in managing these species, including issues w.th the use of toxicants, land access, public attitudes, and monitoring difficulties. Finally, w. list some ongoing research and future research needs, including improved detection methods, improved attractants, improved barriers, improved capture methods, fertility control, and risk assessment methods [Current Zoology 57 （5）： 559-567, 2011].
