The digestive gland of the apple snail Pomacea canaliculata lodges two types of pigmented corpuscles(identified as C and K corpuscles)which has been proposed as endosymbiont/*** corpuscular types are always present in the digestive gland of adult snails,they are released into the tubuloacinar lumen and are later expelled in the *** their part,hatchlings lack any C or K corpuscles in the digestive gland as well as in their feces,whereas C corpuscles appear in both the gland and feces within one week after ***,it is possible that the detritivorous hatchlings acquire the putative C-endosymbiont from feces in the sediments where they live,***‘lateral’or‘horizontal’*** possibility was put to test in an experiment in which we prevented any lateral transmission,by a 7-days aseptic culture,with no food,of aseptically obtained *** the end of the experiment,we observed that most juveniles had survived the culture period,and hence the digestive glands and feces of survivors were studied by light microscopy of resin embedded,toluidine blue-stained *** studied glands and fecal samples showed C *** is concluded that lateral transmission of the endosymbiont,if any,is not indispensable for the acquisition of the endosymbiont by hatchlings.

Starting from Kane’s model and taking into account the surface electron spin-orbit interaction, we have derived the dispersion relation and Landau levels of inversion layer subband on narrow-gap semiconductors. The capacitance-voltage spectroscopy, magnetoconductivity oscillations and cyclotron resonance spectroscopy for the p-Hg1-xCdx Te MIS structure sample at temperature 4.2 K have been measured. From the experimental data, the subband parameters and spin-orbit coupling intensity, which are involved in the expressions of subband dispersion relation and Landau levels, have been determined. As a result, the inversion layer electron subband dispersion relation and Landau level fan chart for HgCdTe as well as the zero field spin splitting effect, the shifting and the crossing effect of Landau levels have been described quantitatively.

The worldwide rise in the prevalence of obesity supports the need for an increased interaction between ongoing clinical research in the allied fields of gastrointestinal medicine/surgery and diabetes mellitus. There have been a number of clinically-relevant advances in diabetes, obesity, and metabolic syndrome emanating from gastroenterological research. Gastric emptying is a significant factor in the development of upper gastrointestinal symptoms. However, it is not the only mechanism whereby such symptoms occur in patients with diabetes. Disorders of intrinsic pacing are involved in the control of stomach motility in patients with gastroparesis; on the other hand, there is limited impact of glycemic control on gastric emptying in patients with established diabetic gastroparesis. Upper gastrointestinal functions related to emptying and satiations are significantly associated with weight gain in obesity. Medications used in the treatment of diabetes or metabolic syndrome, particularly those related to pancreatic hormones and incretins affect upper gastrointestinal tract function and reduce hyperglycemia and facilitate weight loss. The degree of gastric emptying delay is significantly correlated with the weight loss in response to liraglutide, a glucagonlike peptide-1 analog. Network meta-analysis shows that liraglutide is one of the two most efficacious medical treatments of obesity, the other being the combination treatment phentermine-topiramate. Interventional therapies for the joint management of obesity and diabetes mellitus include newer endoscopic procedures, which require long-term follow-up and bariatric surgical procedure for which long-term follow up shows advantages for individuals with diabetes. Newer bariatric procedures are presently undergoing clinical evaluation. On the horizon, combination therapies, in part directed at gastrointestinal functions, appear promising for these indications. Aim： To investigate wether the corresponding protein of mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase 3 （ART3） mRNA is expressed in human testes and, if so, whether the expression is cell type-specific. Methods： ART3 mRNA was determined in human testes and sperm by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction （RT-PCR）. The glycosylphosphatidylinositol linkage of ART3 was shown by treating ART3-transfected HEK-293-T cells with phospholipase C. Fluorescent activated cell sorter （FACS）-analyses were used to detect ART3 on mature spermatozoa and immunohistological studies to detect the protein in testes. Results： ART3 protein was shown to be present in testes. It was found on spermatocytes only. It was absent from spermatogonia, spermatids and spermatozoa. The absence of ART3 from spermatozoa was confirmed by FACS-analysis. ART3 protein was detected neither within a seminoma nor on Leydig cells. Conclusion： Here we show for the first time that ART3 protein is expressed in testes in particular on spermatocytes, indicating that ART3 exerts a specific function only required at a particular stage of spermatogenesis.

AIM：To evaluate whether optical coherence tomography angiography（OCTA） can detect altered vessel density（VD） at the optic nerve head（ONH） in glaucoma *** attention is paid to the accuracy of the OCTA technique for distinguishing healthy from glaucomatous ***：A total of 171 eyes were examined by the OCTA system Angio Vue^TM（Optovue）：97 eyes diagnosed with glaucoma and 74 healthy control *** papillary and peripapillary VD was ***,the VD was correlated with different structural and functional *** order to test the accuracy of differentiation between eyes with and without glaucoma,we calculated the receiver operating characteristic curve（ROC） and the area under the curve（AUC）.RESULTS：The papillary and peripapillary VD in glaucomatous eyes was significantly lower than in healthy eyes（P〈0.05）.The VD of the nasal peripapillary sector was significantly lower than in the other *** further the disease had progressed [measured by determining the thickness of the ganglion cell complex（GCC） and the retinal nerve fiber layer（RNFL）] the greater the VD *** AUC discriminated well between glaucomatous and normal eyes（consensus classifier 94.2%）.CONCLUSION：OCTA allows non-invasive quantification of the peripapillary and papillary VD,which is significantly reduced in glaucomatous eyes and accurately distinguishes between healthy and diseased *** expands the spectrum of procedures for detecting and monitoring glaucoma.

AIM To investigate whether immune mediated diseases(IMD) are more frequent in patients with inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).METHODS In this population based registry study,a total of 47325 patients with IBD were alive and registered in the Danish National Patient Registry on December 16,2013. Controls were randomly selected from the Danish Civil Registration System(CRS) and matched for sex,age,and municipality. We used ICD 10 codes to identify the diagnoses of the included patients. The IBD population was divided into three subgroups: Ulcerative colitis(UC),Crohn's disease(CD) and Both the latter referring to those registered with both diagnoses. Subsequently,odds-ratios(OR) and 95%CI were obtained separately for each group and their respective controls. The use of Bonferoni post-test correction adjusted the significance level to P < 0.00125. P-values were estimated using Fisher's exact *** There were significantly more women than men in the registry,and a greater percentage of comorbidity in the IBD groups(P < 0.05). Twenty different IMDs were all significantly more frequent in the IBD group. Sixteen were associated with UC versus twelve with CD. In both UC and CD ORs were significantly increased(P < 0.00125) for primary sclerosing cholangitis(PSC),celiac disease,type 1 diabetes(T1D),sarcoidosis,asthma,iridocyclitis,psoriasis,pyoderma gangrenosum,rheumatoid arthritis,and ankylosing spondylitis. Restricted to UC(P < 0.00125) were autoimmune hepatitis,primary biliary cholangitis,Grave's disease,polymyalgia rheumatica,temporal arteritis,and atrophic gastritis. Restricted to CD(P < 0.00125) were psoriatic arthritis and episcleritis. Restricted to women with UC(P < 0.00125) were atrophic gastritis,rheumatoid arthritis,temporal arteritis,and polymyalgia rheumatica. Restricted to women with CD were episcleritis,rheumatoid arthritis,and psoriatic arthritis. The only disease restricted to men(P < 0.00125) was sarcoidosis. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way healthcare services are delivered. These changes will likely persist as countries recover from the economic crises following lockdowns. In developing countries, services for substance use disorders (SUDs) are inadequate and as countries prioritize infectious diseases, individuals with SUDs may suffer further neglect. This paper is a narrative review of peer-reviewed and grey literature on the current challenges with SUD treatment in Nigeria assesses how telehealth may positively affect access to evidence-based treatments and suggests strategies for implementation considering the unique challenges and opportunities in the country. If prioritized in her policy, telehealth has the potential to improve treatment outcomes for SUDs in Nigeria.

The general characteristics of Diode Laser Absorption Spectrometry (DLAAS) in low pressure plasmas particulary with respect to the detection of non metals are comprehensively recapitulated and discussed. Furthermore, a detector, which is based on DLAAS in a microwave induced low pressure plasma as an alternative technique for halogene specific analysis of volatile compounds and polymeric matrices is described. The analytical capability of the technique is demonstrated on the chlorine specific analysis of ablated polymer fragments as well as gas chromatographically separated hydrocarbons. Since the measurements were carried out by means of a balanced heterodyne detection scheme, different technical noise contributions, such as laser excess and RAM noise could efficiently be suppressed and the registered absorption was limited only by the principal shot noise. Thus, in the case of the polymer analysis a chlorine specific absolute detection limit of 10 pg could be achieved. Furthermore, fundamental investigations concerning the influence of hydrocarbons on the dissociation capability of the microwave induced plasma were performed. For this purpose, the carbon , chlorine and hydrogen specific stoichiometry of the compounds were empirically determined. Deviations from the exspected proportions were found to be insignificant, implying the possibility of internal standardization relative to the response of a reference sample.
