Zusammenfassung: Evaluierung der kombinierten Therapie bestehend aus transarterieller Chemoembolisation (TACE) und lokaler Immunotherapie des hepatozellulren Karzinoms (HCC) am Kleintiermodell. Bei mnnlichen ACI-Ratten (n=30) erfolgte nach subkapsulrer Implantation eines soliden Morris Hepatoms (2 mm3) in den linken Leberlappen (Tag 0) die magnettomographische Tumorvolumenbestimmung (V1: Tag 13). Nach retrograder Katheterisierung der Arteria gastroduodenalis wurden die Tiere entsprechend den folgenden Therapieschemata behandelt (Tag 14): (A) TACE (0,1 mg Mitomycin C+0,1 ml Lipiodol)+( TNF (7,5μg)+IL-2 (5×103IU) (n=10); (B) TACE+OK-432 (0,05 mg) +IL-2 (5×103 IU) (n=10); (C) TACE allein (Kontrollgruppe, n=10). Zu Beurteilung des Therapieerfolges der unterschiedlichen Behandlungsprotokolle wurde das Tumorvolumen (V2) erneut magnettomographisch ermittelt (Tag 28). Das durchschnittliche Tumorvolumenverhltnis (V2/V1) betrug 7,30, 6,53 und 9,14 in Gruppe A, B und C. Im Vergleich zur Kontrollgruppe zeigten die Therapiegruppen A (P<0,05) und B (P<0,01) ein statistisch signifikant geringeres Tumorvolumenverhltnis (V2/V1). Zusammenfassung： Evaluierung der Effektivitat yon Bletilla striata bei transerteriellen Chemoembolisation （TACE） im Kleintiermodell. Nach subkapsularer Implantation （Tag 0） eines soliden Morris Hepatoms （2 mm^3） bei ACI-Ratten （n=30） wurden am 13. Tag die Tumorvolumina （V1） magnettomographisch bestimmt. Im Anschlu erfolgten nach Laparatomie die retrograde Katheterisierung der Arteria gastroduodenalis und die Anwendung folgender Therapieprotokolle.. （A） TACE （0,1 mg Mitomycin C ＋ 0,1 mL Lipiodol）＋ Bletilla striata （1,0 mg）（n=10）; （B） TACE （ Bletilla striata （1,0mg）＋ Ligatur （n=10）;（C） TACE allein （Kontrollgruppe, n=10）. Zur Effektivitatsbeurteilung der unterschiedlichen Therapieprotokolle erfolgte am 28. Tag eine erneute magnettomographische Bestimmung der Tumorvolumina （V2）. Das durchschnittliche Tumorvolumen der Gruppen A, B und C vor und nach interventioneller Therapie betrug 0,0355 cm^3 und 0, 2248 cm^3 , 0,0374 cm^3 und 0,0573 cm^3 sowie 0,0380 cm^3 und 0,3674 cm^3. Das errechnete durchschnittliche Verhaltnis （V2/V1） betrug 6,28, 1,53 sowie 9,14. Im Vergleich zur Kontrollgruppe C konnte somit fur Therapiegruppe B eine signifikant （P〈0.01） geringere Tumorvolumenzunahme im Beobachtungszeitraum ermitteh werden, wkhrend zwischen Gruppe A und Gruppe C keine statistisch signifikanten （P〉0.05） Unterschiede im Tumorwachstum festgestelh werden konnten. Das Wachstum der induzierten Lebertumoren konnte unter Behandlung mittels TACE ＋ Bletilla striata ＋Ligatur im Tiermodell statistisch signifikant im Vergleich zur Kontrollgruppe gehemmt werden. We report on an experiment performed at the FLASH2 free-electron laser(FEL)aimed at producing warm dense matter via soft x-ray isochoric *** the experiment,we focus on study of the ions emitted during the soft x-ray ablation process using time-of-flight electron multipliers and a shifted Maxwell–Boltzmann velocity distribution *** find that most emitted ions are thermal,but that some impurities chemisorbed on the target surface,such as protons,are accelerated by the electrostatic field created in the plasma by escaped *** morphology of the complex crater structure indicates the presence of several ion groups with varying *** find that the ion sound velocity is controlled by the ion temperature and show how the ion yield depends on the FEL radiation attenuation length in different materials.

BACKGROUND Brucellosis is the most common zoonosis worldwide and is endemic in the Middle East,Africa,Asia,and Latin ***,it is uncommon in Central Europe,and periprosthetic infections caused by Brucella are therefore *** to the low prevalence and nonspecific clinical presentation of the disease,accurate diagnosis can be challenging;no gold standard currently exists for treating *** SUMMARY Here,we present a 68-year-old Afghan woman living in Austria with a periprosthetic knee infection caused by Brucella *** interval from total knee arthroplasty to septic loosening was five years.A profound medical history and examinations suggested that the patient had been suffering from unrecognized chronic osteoarticular brucellosis prior to total knee *** was successfully treated by two-stage revision surgery and combined antibiotic therapy over three *** Clinicians should consider brucellosis as a possible cause of chronic arthralgia and periprosthetic infection in patients originating from countries with a high brucellosis burden.

Dose Efficiency in Dual Source High-Pitch Computed Tomography of the Chest

Objectives: Evaluation of radiation efficiency of dual source high-pitch (DSHP) chest CT in comparison to single source technique with special regards to individual patient anatomy. Methods: 150 consecutive patients who underwent chest CT with automated tube current modulation were evaluated retrospectively and divided into three study groups, each with an equal quantity of 50 patients (DSHP vs. single source 128 slices vs. single source 16 slices). By using a dedicated workstation, volumetric analyses of each of the scanned anatomic area were performed and correlated to the individual dose length product (DLP). The calculated result was defined as dose efficiency. Results: DLP was 203 mGycm (DSHP), vs. 269 mGycm (single source) vs. 273 mGycm (16 slice CT). The total patient volume was lowest in the dual source group with 18956.3 cm3 (vs. 22481.2 cm3 vs. 22133.8 cm3). With regards to the DLP, the calculated dose efficiency of dual source CT was better than the 128 slice CT (p = 0.045) and the 16 slice CT (p < 0.01). Conclusions: DSHP CT has considerably better dose efficiency compared to 16 slice CT. Compared to 128 slice single source technique, the high-pitch mode does not cause any dose penalty when performing chest CT.

Transarterial administration of integrin inhibitor loaded nanoparticles combined with transarterial chemoembolization for treating hepatocellular carcinoma in a rat model

AIM: To compare the effect of transarterial chemoembolization(TACE) plus GRGDSP(Gly-Arg-Gly-Asp-SerPro, integrin-inhibitor) loaded nanoparticles with TACE alone or TACE + GRGDSP in a rat model of liver tumor. METHODS: Morris hepatoma 3924 A tumors were implanted in the livers of 30 ACI rats. The ACI rats were divided randomly into three groups(10 animals each). Tumor volume before treatment(V1) was examined by magnetic resonance imaging(MRI), and then, after laparotomy and placement of a PE-10 catheter into the hepatic artery, the following interventional protocols were performed: TACE(mitomycin C + lipiodol + degradable starch microspheres) + GRGDSP loaded nanoparticles for group A; TACE + GRGDSP for group B(control group 1); TACE alone for group C(control group 2). Tumor volume(V2) was assessed by MRI and the mean ratio of the post-treatment to pretreatment tumor volumes(V2/V1) was calculated. Immunohistochemical analysis was performed to assess the quantification of matrix metalloprotein 9(MMP-9) and vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) positive tumor cells in each treatment ***: The mean tumor growth ratios(V2/V1) were 1.3649 ± 0.1194 in group A, 2.0770 ± 0.1595 in group B, and 3.2148 ± 0.1075 in group C. Compared with groups B and C, group A showed a significant reduction in tumor volume. Lower expression of MMP-9 and VEGF in hepatocellular carcinoma was observed in group A than in groups B and C. The angiogenesis of tumor was evaluated using anti-VEGF antibodies, and the metastasis of tumor was assessed using antiMMP-9 antibody. MMP-9 and VEGF were expressed in all specimens. The immunoexpression of these proteins was confirmed by the presence of red cytoplasmic staining in tumor cells. Fluidization behavior and reduction kinetics of pre-oxidized magnetite-based iron ore in a hydrogen-induced fluidized bed

The influence of different pre-oxidation temperatures and pre-oxidation degrees on the reduction and fluidization behaviors of magnetite-based iron ore was investigated in a hydrogen-induced fluidized *** raw magnetite-based iron ore was pre-oxidized at 800 and1000℃ for a certain time to reach a partly oxidation and deeply oxidation *** structure and morphology of the reduced particles were analyzed via optical microscope and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The reaction kinetic mechanism was determined based on the double-logarithm *** results indicate that the materials with higher oxidation temperature and wider particle size range show better fluidization *** lower oxidation temperature is more beneficial for the reduction rate,especially in the later reduction *** pre-oxidation degree shows no obvious influence on the fluidization and reduction *** on the kinetic analysis,the reduction progress can be divided into three *** reduction mechanism was discussed combing the surface morphology and phase structure.

The next-generation sphingosine-1 receptor modulator BAF312(siponimod) improves cortical network functionality in focal autoimmune encephalomyelitis

Autoimmune diseases of the central nervous system(CNS) like multiple sclerosis(MS) are characterized by inflammation and demyelinated lesions in white and grey matter regions. While inflammation is present at all stages of MS, it is more pronounced in the relapsing forms of the disease, whereas progressive MS(PMS) shows significant neuroaxonal damage and grey and white matter atrophy. Hence, disease-modifying treatments beneficial in patients with relapsing MS have limited success in PMS. BAF312(siponimod) is a novel sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor modulator shown to delay progression in PMS. Besides reducing inflammation by sequestering lymphocytes in lymphoid tissues, BAF312 crosses the blood-brain barrier and binds its receptors on neurons, astrocytes and oligodendrocytes. To evaluate potential direct neuroprotective effects, BAF312 was systemically or locally administered in the CNS of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis mice with distinct grey-and white-matter lesions(focal experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis using an osmotic mini-pump). Ex-vivo flow cytometry revealed that systemic but not local BAF312 administration lowered immune cell infiltration in animals with both grey and white matter lesions. Ex-vivo voltage-sensitive dye imaging of acute brain slices revealed an altered spatio-temporal pattern of activation in the lesioned cortex compared to controls in response to electrical stimulation of incoming white-matter fiber tracts. Here, BAF312 administration showed partial restore of cortical neuronal circuit function. The data suggest that BAF312 exerts a neuroprotective effect after crossing the blood-brain barrier independently of peripheral effects on immune cells. Experiments were carried out in accordance with German and EU animal protection law and approved by local authorities(Landesamt für Natur, Umwelt und Verbraucherschutz Nordrhein-Westfalen;87-51.04.2010.A331) on December 28, 2010.
