Mobilization of Arsenic in Groundwater in the Southern Hanoi City (Vietnam) as Studied by Isotopic and Related Techniques

Sixteen samples of surface and groundwater from the most southern part of the Hanoi city (Vietnam) has been taken and analyzed for the soluble major ions, namely Na+, K+, , Ca2+, Mg2+, Cl-, , and arsenic as well as molybdenum content along with isotopic composition of deuterium and oxygen (δ2H and δ18O), tritium activity, and δ13C in DIC. The stable isotopic composition of groundwater indicates the water in that area is recharged from the local meteoric and theRed River’s water sources. The mean residence time of the groundwater should be before 60-ies of the past century as its 3H activity ranged from LOD of the analytical technique (0.4 TU) to 2.1 TU only implying that As would not be related to its recent application. The concentrations of As in the water samples is weakly correlated with those of Fe2+ (R2 = 0.08) but it strongly did with the concentrations of bicarbonate (R2 = 0.80). Thus, bicarbonate seems to liberate As adsorbed on hydrous ferric oxides (Hfo) into water through the displacement mechanism. The surface adsorption-desorption of As could be proven by a strong correlation between As and Mo concentrations (R2 = 0.77). The bicarbonate formation in groundwater was thought to be, partly, due to the bio-mineralization of natural organic matter (NOM) by bacteria followed by the dissolution of calcite and/or dolomite present in the sediments. Evidence for the NOM bio-mineralization was found in the close relationship between δ13C and the concentration of bicarbonate in water. Therefore, the mobilization of As in groundwater of bicarbonate type in the southern part of Hanoi city seems to be not only due to the reductive dissolution of the Hfo but the bicarbonate displacement also should be considered.

Evaluation of Interaction between Surface Water and Groundwater in the South of Hanoi City by Stable Isotope Technique

The δ18O and δ2H stable isotope techniques for studying properties of groundwater and surface help us to understand more clearly about the distribution and movement of groundwater in the South of Hanoi area. There were 68 water samples from the studying area and analyzed by a Liquid Water Isotope Analyzer (LWIA-24D). The stable isotope values of the groundwater from Pleistocene aquifers were range from -3.21‰ to -9.55‰ δ18O and -35.32‰ to -67.44‰ δ2H;rainwater from -8.18‰ to -4.13‰ δ18O and -61.19‰ to -17.93‰ δ2H;Red river water from -7.51‰ to -5.29‰ δ18O and -51.60‰ to -38.99‰ δ2H. Based on stable isotope characteristics, the results show that there was a relationship between surface water and groundwater in the South of Hanoi city. It is that groundwater recharges for river water in the dry season with 74%, and in the rainfall season groundwater is recharged from river with 87%.

Study the Changes in Soil Organic Carbon of Rice-Maize Cropping System in the Top Layer of Alluvisol Soil in Dan Phuong: A Study of C-13 Stable Isotope Composition (<i>δ</i><sup>13</sup>C)

In this study, the experiments on field were conducted to examine the change in the content of soil organic carbon (SOC), its C-13 stable isotope composition (δ 13C) and some main physical, chemical parameters (soil moisture, pH, soil density, content of humic, fulvic, total N, total P, total K) in alluvial soil of Dan Phuong region—Vietnam at a depth of 0 - 30 cm when we changed the regime from 2 maize -1 rice crop to 2 rice - 1 maize crop per 1 year. In addition to analyzing the main parameters in soil, C content and its δ 13C value in parts of rice and maize (root, stem and leaf) were also analyzed to assess the contribution of plant residues on soil organic carbon content after harvest. The experiment was carried out in 2016-2017 on the field with the traditional farming method of local farmers along with the tropical monsoon weather conditions of the North-Vietnam. The results showed that SOC had positive correlation with total N, total P parameters and negative correlation with δ 13C values of soil samples at two layers (0 - 15 cm and 15 - 30 cm). The average of total dry biomass (stem, stump + roots and leaf parts) per 1 rice and 1 maize crop was 10.64 Mg/ha and 9.09 Mg/ha, respectively. The average of δ 13C value of rice (C3 plant) was -29.78‰ and its value of maize (C4 plant) was -12.61‰. The new plant (rice) contributes to the total soil organic carbon content from 11.31% to 44.14% at the 0 - 15 cm layer and from 6.55% to 11.31% at the 15 - 30 cm layer in one-year experiment period.

Using Isotope Technology for Surface Water Environment Research in Southern Hanoi

The surface water in the southern of Hanoi capital is researched by identifying δ2H and δ18O stable isotopes together with EC, DO, BOD5, COD, TSS. Surface water samples for studying include the Red river, Nhue river and Kim Nguu river, Thanh Nhan lake, Yen So lake and Van Quan lake were collected in the dry season (April) and the rainy season (August) in 2015. The stable isotope analysis results showed that the δ18O values is a range from -42.53‰ to -64.05‰ and, the δ2H values is the range from -5.09‰ to -8.79‰ under global meteoric waterline (in the water vapor region). The δ2H results of the rivers and lakes in the dry season are more negative than the rainy season with a small difference. The δ18O results of lakes in the dry season are more negative than the rainy season, but the δ18O results of river in the dry season are more positive than the rainy season. The results of the EC, BOD, COD, DO, TSS analysis showed that surface water environment has changed clearly in the two seasons and the contamination level in the dry season is usually higher than the rainy season. The lakes and rivers strongly influenced by human activities led to seriously pollution are Van Quan lake and Yen So lake, Nhue river and Kim Nguu river.

Potential application of high pressure carbon dioxide in treated wastewater and water disinfection:Recent overview and further trends

Recently emerging disadvantages in conventional disinfection have heightened the need for finding a new solution. Developments in the use of high pressure carbon dioxide for food preservation and sterilization have led to a renewed interest in its applicability in wastewater treatment and water disinfection. Pressurized CO2 is one of the most investigated methods of antibacterial treatment and has been used extensively for decades to inhibit pathogens in dried food and liquid products. this study reviews the literature concerning the utility of CO2 as a disinfecting agent, and the pathogen inactivation mechanism of CO2 treatment is evaluated based on all available research. In this paper, it will be argued that the successful application and high effectiveness of CO2 treatment in liquid foods open a potential opportunity for its use in wastewater treatment and water disinfection. The findings from models with different operating conditions（pressure, temperature, microorganism, water content, media …） suggest that most microorganisms are successfully inhibited under CO2 treatment. It will also be shown that the bacterial deaths under CO2 treatment can be explained by many different ***, the findings in this study can help to address the recently emerging problems in water disinfection, such as disinfection by-products（resulting from chlorination or ozone treatment）.

Predicting the subcellular location of apoptosis proteins based on recurrence quantification analysis and the Hilbert Huang transform

Apoptosis proteins play an important role in the development and homeostasis of an organism. The elucidation of the subcellular locations and functions of these proteins is helpful for understanding the mechanism of programmed cell death. In this paper, the recurrent quantification analysis, Hilbert-Huang transform methods, the maximum relevance and minimum redundancy method and support vector machine are used to predict the subcellular location of apoptosis proteins. The validation of the jackknife test suggests that the proposed method can improve the prediction accuracy of the subcellular location of apoptosis proteins and its application may be promising in other fields.

Chaos game representation of functional protein sequences,and simulation and multifractal analysis of induced measures

Investigating the biological function of proteins is a key aspect of protein studies. Bioinformatic methods become important for studying the biological function of proteins. In this paper, we first give the chaos game representation （CGR） of randomly-linked functional protein sequences, then propose the use of the recurrent iterated function systems （RIFS） in fractal theory to simulate the measure based on their chaos game representations. this method helps to extract some features of functional protein sequences, and furthermore the biological functions of these proteins. Then multifractal analysis of the measures based on the CGRs of randomly-linked functional protein sequences are performed. We find that the CGRs have clear fractal patterns. The numerical results show that the RIFS can simulate the measure based on the CGR very well. The relative standard error and the estimated probability matrix in the RIFS do not depend on the order to link the functional protein sequences. The estimated probability matrices in the RIFS with different biological functions are evidently different. Hence the estimated probability matrices in the RIFS can be used to characterise the difference among linked functional protein sequences with different biological functions. From the values of the Dq curves, one sees that these functional protein sequences are not completely random. The Dq of all linked functional proteins studied are multifractal-like and sufficiently smooth for the Cq （analogous to specific heat） curves to be meaningful. Furthermore, the Dq curves of the measure μ based on their CCRs for different orders to link the functional protein sequences are almost identical if q 〉 0. Finally, the Ca curves of all linked functional proteins resemble a classical phase transition at a critical point.

In recent years,the detection of fake job descriptions has become increasingly necessary because social networking has changed the way people access burgeoning information in the internet *** fraud in job descriptions can help jobseekers to avoid many of the risks of job ***,the problem of detecting fake job descriptions comes up against the problem of class imbalance when the number of genuine jobs exceeds the number of fake *** causes a reduction in the predictability and performance of traditional machine learning *** therefore present an efficient framework that uses an oversampling technique called FJD-OT(Fake Job Description Detection Using Oversampling Techniques)to improve the predictability of detecting fake job *** the proposed framework,we apply several techniques including the removal of stop words and the use of a tokenizer to preprocess the text data in the first *** then use a bag of words in combination with the term frequency-inverse document frequency(TF-IDF)approach to extract the features from the text data to create the feature dataset in the second ***,our framework applies k-fold cross-validation,a commonly used technique to test the effectiveness of machine learning models,that splits the experimental dataset[the Employment Scam Aegean(ESA)dataset in our study]into training and test sets for *** training set is passed through the third module,an oversampling module in which the SVMSMOTE method is used to balance data before training the classifiers in the last *** experimental results indicate that the proposed approach significantly improves the predictability of fake job description detection on the ESA dataset based on several popular performance metrics.

Defect engineering of water-dispersible g-C_(3)N_(4) photocatalysts by chemical oxidative etching of bulk g-C_(3)N_(4) prepared in different calcination atmospheres

In this study,water-dispersible graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4))photocatalysts were successively prepared through the chemically oxidative etching of bulk g-C_(3)N_(4) that was polymerized thermally in different calcination atmospheres such as air,CO_(2),and N_(2).The different calcination atmospheres directly influenced the physicochemical and optical properties of both bulk and water-dispersible g-C_(3)N_(4),changing the photocatalytic degradation behavior of methylene blue(MB)and tetracycline hydrochloride(TCHCl)for water-dispersible g-C_(3)N_(4).The bubble-burst process in the thermal polymerization of thiourea produced defective edges containing C=O groups that preferred substituting the C-NHx groups over bulk g-C_(3)N_(4).In the oxygen-free N_(2) atmosphere among the different calcination atmospheres,more C=O functional groups were generated on the defective edges of bulk g-C_(3)N_(4),resulting in the highest N vacancy of the tri-s-triazine *** the successive chemical oxidation,S-or O-containing functional groups were introduced onto water-dispersible g-C_(3)N_(4).The water-dispersible g-C_(3)N_(4) photocatalyst from the oxygen-free N_(2) atmosphere(NTw)contained the most O-and S-functional groups on the g-C_(3)N_(4) ***,NTw exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity in the MB and TC-HCl photodegradation because of its slowest recombination process,which was ascribed to the unique surface properties of NTw such as abundant functional groups on the defective edges and N-deficient property.
