Polychromatic Fourier-PAM fluorometry and hyperspectral analysis of chlorophyll fluorescence from Phaseolus vulgaris leaves: Effects of green light

Maximal and partial quantum yields of photosystem II(Fv/Fm and Fv–/Fp)in Phaseolus vulgaris leaves were determined in response to the turning on saturating and low(undersaturating)actinic light,*** lights(ML)of blue,green,and red colors were applied simultaneously using a novel method of the polychromatic fast Fourier transforming pulse amplitude modulation(FFT PAM)chlorophyll *** of ML were cross-combined with the colors of low and saturating actinic ***/Fm values measured with the green ML were found to be close to that of red light,whereas application of blue ML leads to lower Fv/*** addition,5-nm resolved excitation spectra were measured to evaluate the dependence between red/far red fluorescence ratios(peak height based–F685/F730,and deconvolved peak square based–F685sq/F730sq)and wavelength of the excitation *** demonstrates that chlorophyll fluorescence ratio red/far red may be dependent on the spectral absorbance of *** data obtained confirm the results of the previous studies which explain high photosynthetic activity of the green light in terms of redistribution of absorbed quanta throughout thickness of the leaf,thus suggesting possible advisability of green light application in greenhouse lighting,especially for the plants having thick leaves.

Influence of Methane-Hydrogen Mixture Characteristics on Compressor Vibrations

A transition to clean hydrogen energy will not be possible until the issues related to its production, transportation,storage, etc., are adequately resolved. Currently, however, it is possible to use methane-hydrogen *** gas can be transported using a pipeline system with the required pressure being maintained by gascompression stations. This method, however, is affected by some problems too. Compressors emergency stopscan be induced by vibrations because in some cases, mechanical methods are not able to reduce the vibrationamplitude. As an example, it is known that a gas-dynamic flow effect in labyrinth seals can lead to increasedvibrations. This paper presents the numerical simulation of rotor oscillations taking into account a gas-dynamicload. The influence of a transported mixture on the oscillatory process is investigated. Mixtures consisting ofmethane and hydrogen in various proportions and an air mixture are considered. The results are discussed forvarious operating pressures and include the rotor motion trajectories and oscillation frequency spectra obtainednumerically. It is shown that the gas mixture composition has a significant effect on the oscillations and theiroccurrence. Hydrogen as a working fluid reduces the vibration amplitude. Operating a compressor with hydrogenleads to a decrease in the resonant frequency, bringing it closer to the operating one. However, the operatingpressure at which maximum oscillations are observed depends slightly on the gas mixture composition.

Human Body Surface Oscillations Remote Measurements by Means of Laser Doppler Interferometer

Experimental results of remote laser measurement of a time structure of a pulse waves are resulted. Occurrence of the pulse waves are connected with the rhythmic reduction of a myocardittm. Speed of pulse wave＇s propagation does not depend on speed of current of blood, it is defined by diameter of a vessel, by its walls thickness, by elasticity of a vessel, and also by rheological properties of blood. Measurement of parameters of pulse waves is important tbr definition of a condition of cardiovascular system. Ways of measurement of characteristics of pulse waves used now （acoustic, electric, optical） are contact. In some cases, for example, in clinics on treatment of burns and so forth, the question of remote measurement of processes hemodynamics by use of methods of laser sotmding is rather actual. The results described in work have shown outlook of development of laser methods of diagnostics for present purposes. The measurement technique used by authors is based on use of longitudinal Doppler effect which essence consists in change of frequency or length of a wave of radiation at reflection from moving surface. For smoothing the measured signal （clearing from noise） the program developed by authors on the basis of the wavelet-analysis was used. Experimental measurements are shown, that the laser method allows to register distinctly structure of pulse waves which is characterized by two peaks. The results of remote laser measurement of a time structure of a pulse waves confirm the assumption made on the basis of general-theoretical physical positions, that characteristics of pulse waves can be registered on the Doppler effect basis.

Generalization of Abelian Gauge Symmetry, Dark Matter and Cosmological Expansion

A commutative generalization of the U(1) gauge symmetry group is proposed. The two-parametric family of two-connected abelian Lie groups is obtained. The necessity of existence of so-called imaginary charges and electromagnetic fields with negative energy density (dark photons) is derived. The possibilities when the overall Lagrangian represents a sum or difference of two identical Lagrangians for the visible and hidden sectors (i.e. copies of unbroken U(1)) are ruled out by the extended symmetry. The distinction between the two types of fields resides in the fact that for one of them current and electromagnetic kinetic terms in Lagrangians are identical in sign, whereas for another type these terms are opposite in sign. As a consequence, and in contrast to the common case, like imaginary charges attract and unlike charges repel. Some cosmological issues of the proposed hypothesis are discussed. Particles carrying imaginary charges are proposed as one of the components of dark matter. Such a matter would be imaginarily charged on a large scale for the reason that dark atoms carry non-compensated charges. It leads to important predictions for matter distribution, interaction and other physical properties being different from what is observed in dominant dark matter component in the standard model. These effects of imaginary charges depend on their density and could be distinguished in future observations. Dark electromagnetic fields can play crucial dynamical role in the very early universe as they may dominate in the past and violate weak energy condition which provides physical grounds for bouncing cosmological scenarios pouring a light on the problem of origin of the expanding matter flow.

Arterial hypertension associated with somatic pathology in present-day practice of internal diseases

Dynamics of regional and gender features of occurrence of arterial hypertension associated with diseases of gallbladder, biliary ducts and pancreas for 2003-2011 was analyzed. There researched 23,310 patients (9111 males and 14,188 females) treated in clinic of scientific centre of clinical and experimental medicine SB RAMS. Occurrence of such combination, depending on gender, residence (the Novosibirsk region (NR) or ya.utia) as well as in age subgroups (16-39, 40-59 and over 60) was estimated. Occurrence of arterial hypertension associated with diseases of gallbladder, biliary ducts and pancreas was observed more in male of Subgroup I, living in NR and ya.utia. In 2003-2008 in female of Subgroup III, living in NR comorbidity pathology was observed more frequently than in male. In Subgroup III in female of NR occurrence of combined pathology was maximum (36.6%) 2006-2008, in female of ya.utia—38.5% in 2003-2005. Dependence of occurrence of combined pathology on residence was observed in male. In 2003-2011 in male of ya.utia combined pathology was observed frequently than in male of NR. Occurrence of comorbidity pathology, depending on gender and age was typical for inhabitants of NR. In Group I comorbidity pathology was frequently observed in male, in Group III—in female. It is necessary to develop regional strategies for observing patients with combined pathologies to improve prevention, rehabilitation and treatment of patients with arterial hypertension associated with diseases of gallbladder, biliary ducts and pancreas.

Boosting the piezoelectric property of relaxor ferroelectric single crystal via active manipulation of defect dipole polarization

To further enhance the property of piezoelectric materials is of great significance to improve the overall performance of electro-mechanical *** in this work,we propose a thermal annealing and high temperature poling approach to achieve significantly enhanced piezoelectricity in Pb(In_(1/2)Nb_(1/2))O_(3)single bondPb(Mg_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))O_(3)single bondPbTiO_(3)(PIN-PMN-PT)crystals with a morphotropic phase boundary(MPB)*** main idea of our approach is to realize a more sufficiently polarized crystal via active manipulation of defects and orientation of defect *** of defect dipoles by the high temperature poling is proved by the piezo-response force ***,a d_(33)of 3300 pC/N and a SE of 0.25%are obtained,nearly 60%higher than that of conventionally poled ***,such a boosting of piezoelectric property is obtained under a maintained Curie *** research not only reveals the active control of defect dipole via modified poling method in the PIN-PMN-PT crystal,but also provides a feasible strategy to further improve the property of piezoelectric materials.

Impact of high strength electromagnetic fields generated by Tesla transformer on plant cell ultrastructure

Non-thermal effects of direct electric fields and alternating electromagnetic fields(EMF)have been successfully used in a number of studies and applications in agriculture and *** different kinds of high strength EMF generators,the Tesla transformer(TT)is known as a widely applied,low cost,and troubleproof device,which generates EMF in the range of 2-8 *** of a number of developed and perspective applications of high strength EMFs in agriculture and biotechnology,the EMFs generated by TT,as well as the 1-50 MHz range of high strength EMF still remain unexplored in the fields of plant physiology,ultrastructure studies and *** this work,we have shown that TT-EMFs(4 MHz)induced fast stem and petiole bending,disappearance of cell organelles,vacuolar membranes,and increase of a non-photochemical chlorophyll fluorescence quenching in *** is intriguing that such fatal effects can be evoked in plants by EMFs which are well known as harmless for man at the applied strength and frequency.

Electrical triggering of earthquakes:results of laboratory experiments at spring-block models

Recently published results of field and laboratory experiments on the seismic/acoustic response to injection of direct current （DC） pulses into the Earth crust or stressed rock samples raised a question on a possibility of electrical earthquake triggering. A physical mechanism of the considered phenomenon is not clear yet in view of the very low current density （10-7-10-s A/m^2） generated by the pulsed power systems at the epicenter depth （5-10 km） of local earthquakes occurred just after the current injection. The paper describes results of laboratory ＂earthquake＂ triggering by DC pulses under conditions of a spring-block model simulated the seismogenic fault. It is experimentally shown that the electric triggering of the laboratory ＂earthquake＂（sharp slip of a movable block of the spring-block system） is possible only within a range of subcritical state of the system, when the shear stress between the movable and fixed blocks obtains 0.98-0.99 of its critical value. The threshold of electric triggering action is about 20 A/m^2 that is 7-8 orders of magnitude higher than estimated electric current density for Bishkek test site （Northern Tien Shan, Kirghizia） where the seismic response to the man-made electric action was observed. In this connection, the electric triggering phenomena may be explained by contraction of electric current in the narrow conductive areas of the faults and the corresponding increase in current density or by involving the secondary triggering mechanisms like electromagnetic stimulation of conductive fluid migration into the fault area resulted in decrease in the fault strength properties.

A Method Based on Thermo-Vibrational Effects for Hydrogen Transportation and Storage

Transporting and storing hydrogen is a complex technological task.A typical problem relates to the need to minimize the strength of fluid motion and heat transfer near the walls of the *** this work this problem is tackled numerically assuming an infinite cavity of pipe square cross-section,located in a constant external temperature *** particular,a method based on the application of vibrations to suppress the gravitational convection mechanism is explored.A parametric investigation is conducted and the limits of applicability of the method for small Grashof numbers(10e4)are *** is shown that it is possible to minimize the intensity of the vibrogravitational flow for any values of the problem parameters if correction factors are *** results obtained can be applied in technological processes associated with the transportation,storage and use of hydrogen:pumping the working fluid through pipes,storage in tanks,as well as flow processes in the combustion chambers of power plants.
