Perineural invasion as a prognostic factor in patients with stage Ⅰ-Ⅲ rectal cancer –5-year follow up

BACKGROUND Rectal cancer(RC)is one of the most common diagnosed cancers,and one of the major causes of cancer-related death *** of the current guidelines rely on TNM classification regarding therapy regiments,however recent studies suggest that additional histopathological findings could affect the disease *** To determine whether perineural invasion alone or in combination with lymphovascular invasion have an effect on 5-years overall survival(Os)of RC *** A prospective study included newly diagnosed stage I-III RC patients treated and followed at the Digestive surgery Clinic,Clinical Center of serbia,between the years of 2014–*** patients had their diagnosis histologically confirmed in accordance with both TMN and Dukes *** addition,the patient’s demographics,surgical details,postoperative pathological details,differentiation degree and their correlation with Os was *** Of 245 included patients with stage Ⅰ-Ⅲ RC,lymphovascular invasion(LVI)was identified in 92 patients(38%),whereas perineural invasion(PNI)was present in 46 patients(19%).Using Kaplan-Meier analysis for overall survival rate,we have found that both LVI and PNI were associated with lower survival rates(Pssion model was used,LVI,PNI,older age,male gender were predictors of poor prognosis(HR=5.49;95%CI:2.889-10.429;PsION LVI and PNI were significant factors predicting worse prognosis in early and intermediate RC patients,hence more aggressive therapy should be reserved for these patients after curative resection.

structural colors have drawn wide attention for their potential as a future printing technology for various applications,ranging from biomimetic tissues to adaptive camouflage ***,an efficient approach to realize robust colors with a scalable fabrication technique is still lacking,hampering the realization of practical applications with this ***,we develop a new approach based on large-scale network metamaterials that combine dealloyed subwavelength structures at the nanoscale with lossless,ultra-thin dielectric *** using theory and experiments,we show how subwavelength dielectric coatings control a mechanism of resonant light coupling with epsilon-near-zero regions generated in the metallic network,generating the formation of saturated structural colors that cover a wide portion of the *** measurements support the efficient observation of these colors,even at angles of 70°.The network-like architecture of these nanomaterials allows for high mechanical resistance,which is quantified in a series of nano-scratch *** such remarkable properties,these metastructures represent a robust design technology for real-world,large-scale commercial applications.

The Basidiomycota constitutes a major phylum of the kingdom Fungi and is second in species numbers to the *** present work provides an overview of all validly published,currently used basidiomycete genera to date in a single *** outline of all genera of Basidiomycota is provided,which includes 1928 currently used genera names,with 1263 synonyms,which are distributed in 241 families,68 orders,18 classes and four *** provide brief notes for each accepted genus including information on classification,number of accepted species,type species,life mode,habitat,distribution,and sequence ***,three phylogenetic analyses with combined LsU,ssU,5.8s,rpb1,rpb2,and ef1 datasets for the subphyla Agaricomycotina,Pucciniomycotina and Ustilaginomycotina are conducted,*** time estimates are provided to the family level with 632 species from 62 orders,168 families and 605 *** study indicates that the divergence times of the subphyla in Basidiomycota are 406-430 Mya,classes are 211-383 Mya,and orders are 99-323 Mya,which are largely consistent with previous *** this study,all phylogenetically supported families were dated,with the families of Agaricomycotina diverging from 27-178 Mya,Pucciniomycotina from 85-222 Mya,and Ustilaginomycotina from 79-177 *** times as additional criterion in ranking provide additional evidence to resolve taxonomic problems in the Basidiomycota taxonomic system,and also provide a better understanding of their phylogeny and evolution.

Background:Populations of French Polynesia(FP),where France performed atmospheric tests between 1966 and 1974,experience a high incidence of differentiated thyroid cancer(DTC).However,up to now,no sufficiently large study of DTC genetic factors in this population has been performed to reach definitive *** research aimed to analyze the genetic factors of DTC risk among the native FP ***:We analyzed more than 300000 single nucleotide polymorphisms(sNPs)genotyped in 283 DTC cases and 418 matched controls born in FP,most being younger than 15 years old at the time of the first nuclear *** analyzed the genetic profile of our cohort to identify population *** then completed a genome-wide analysis study on the whole ***:We identified a specific genetic structure in the FP population reflecting admixture from Asian and European *** identified three regions associated with increased DTC risk at 6q24.3,10p12.2,and *** lead sNPs at these loci showed respective p-values of 1.66×10^(−7),2.39×10^(−7),and 7.19×10^(−7) and corresponding odds ratios of 2.02,1.89,and ***:Our study results suggest a role of the loci 6q24.3,10p12.2 and 17q21.32 in DTC ***,a whole genome sequencing approach would be better suited to characterize these factors than genotyping with microarray chip designed for the Caucasian ***,the functional impact of these three new loci needs to be further explored and validated.

Laser synthesis of Metal Oxide Crystals with the Use of Carbon Nanotubes

The results of experimental studies in the direction of the laser forming of nanostructured arrays of metal oxide crystals are presented in this paper. Laser synthesis of crystals of titanium oxide and aluminum oxide was investigated. Carbon nanotubes have been used to control the process of crystal growth. Formation of structures was carried out under the action of CW ytterbium fiber laser with intensity on the order 105 W/cm2. Laser irradiation of the initial target occurred with applying an external accelerating electric field. Various forms of metal oxide crystals were obtained. Whiskers with cross dimensions on the order of 100 nm have been found among the formed structures.
