Study of asphaltene reaggregation in toluene/heptane mixture by dynamic and static light scattering

This paper presents the study of the effect of multiple ultrasonic impacts on submicron asphaltene aggregates in a toluene/heptane solution,conducted with dynamic light scattering technique.The objects of the study were four samples of asphaltenes obtained from four different oils.For all samples,the change in the average size of the asphaltene submicron aggregates with time was measured after the addition of a precipitant(heptane)to a solution of asphaltenes in toluene at an amount above the threshold concentration.Asphaltene aggregates formed in solution after the addition of the precipitant and were subjected to ultrasonic treatment,which led to the destruction of the asphaltene aggregates.Aggregation of destroyed asphaltenes was observed.The kinetics of this aggregation were similar to the kinetics of aggregation of asphaltenes after the addition of a precipitant.Multiple iterations of asphaltene aggregate destruction in the sample led to a significant change in the kinetics of aggregation:the growth of aggregates slowed and stabilized at a size of approximately 200 nm and 30 nm for the different studied samples.

BACKGROUNd Women with a history of serious psychotic disorders are at increased risk of disease relapse during pregnancy.Long-acting injectable(LAI)antipsychotics have been widely used to improve adherence and prevent relapse in patients with various severe psychotic disorders,but there is a lack of high-quality data from previous research on the safety of LAI antipsychotics during pregnancy.AIM To summarize relevant data on maternal,pregnancy,neonatal,and developmental outcomes from published cases of LAI antipsychotic use in pregnancy.METHOdS A literature search was performed through November 11,2023,using three online databases:PubMed/MEdLINE,Scopus,and Web of Science.Case reports or case series that reported information about the outcomes of pregnancy in women who used LAI antipsychotics at any point in pregnancy,with available full texts,were included.descriptive statistics,narrative summation,and tabulation of the extracted data were performed.RESULTS A total of 19 publications satisfied the inclusion criteria:3 case series,15 case reports,and 1 conference abstract.They reported the outcomes of LAI antipsychotic use in 74 women and 77 pregnancies.The use of secondgeneration LAI antipsychotics was reported in the majority(n=47;61.0%)of pregnancies.First-generation LAI antipsychotics were administered during 30 pregnancies(39.0%).Most of the women(approximately 64%)had either satisfactory control of symptoms or no information about relapse,while approximately 12%of them had developed gestational diabetes mellitus.A minority of cases reported adverse outcomes such as stillbirth,spontaneous abortion,preterm birth,low birth weight,congenital anomalies,and neurological manifestations in newborns.However,there were no reports of negative long-term developmental outcomes.CONCLUSION Currently available data seem reassuring,but further well-designed studies are required to properly evaluate the risks and benefits of LAI antipsychotic use during pregnancy.

due to the thermal depolarization effect,adequate piezoelectric performance with high operating temperature is regarded to be challenging to accomplish concurrently in piezoceramics for applications in specific piezoelectric devices.In this work,we synthesized(0.8−x)BiFeO_(3)-x PbTi_(3)-0.2Ba(Zr_(0.25)Ti_(0.75))O_(3)(abbreviated as BFO-x PT-BZT)ternary solid solutions with 0.15≤x≤0.30 by conventional solid-state reaction method.The MPB composition with a coexisting state of rhombohedral-tetragonal phases exhibits enhanced electromechanical properties,including Curie temperature of 380℃,large-signal equivalent piezoelectric coefficient d^(∗)_(33)of 395 pm V^(-1),small-signal piezoelectric coefficient d_(33)of 302 pC N^(-1),and electromechanical coupling factor k_(p)of 50.2%,which is comparable to commercial PZT-5A ceramics,indicating potential in high-temperature applications.Furthermore,in-situ X-ray diffraction(XRd)and piezoelectric force microscopic(PFM)techniques demonstrate that multiphase coexistence and complex nanodomains promote piezoelectric response via synergism.The x=0.24 composition exhibits the highest in-situ d_(33)of 577 pC N^(-1)and good temperature stability in 30−280℃,indicating that BZT-modified BFO-PT ceramics are promising candidates for high-temperature piezoelectric devices.

A new genus and species,Cretopleciofungivora simpsoni gen.et sp.nov.,from the extinct family Pleciofungivoridae(diptera:Bibionomorpha),is discovered in mid-Cretaceous Kachin amber.Previously,this family was known only from imprints in sedimentary rocks of the Jurassic and the Lower Cretaceous.discovery of a representative of Pleciofungivoridae in Kachin amber confirms the presence of the family in the Upper Cretaceous.The new species has a unique structure of fore tarsus,with lobed and extended tarsal segments Ⅱ to Ⅳ,a feature hitherto known only in a few species of extant Sciaroidea.Although not particularly rare,the new species is currently known only from female specimens.Possible reasons for this phenomenon,very unusual in Sciaroidea,are briefly discussed,including parthenogenesis as a potentially plausible hypothesis.

Assessment of the ecological state of haplic chernozem contaminated by oil,fuel oil and gasoline after remediation

The intensive use of petroleum hydrocarbon products has made them priority environmental pollutants.When petroleum hydrocarbons enter the soil,a change in physical,chemical,and biological properties is observed.The natural restoration of oil-contaminated soils is a lengthy process;therefore,remediation is often required.The aim of this study is to assess the change in the ecological state of haplic chernozem soil contaminated with oil,fuel oil,and gasoline after remediation.The indicators of soil biological activity,such as phytotoxicity(germination,length of shoots and roots),the activity of oxidoreductase enzymes(catalase and dehydrogenases),and the total number of bacteria were studied.The effects of nitroammophoska fertilizer,sodium humate,biochar,and the biofertilizer“Baikal EM-1”on the ecological state of soils contaminated with oil,fuel oil,and gasoline were studied.Pollution with oil,fuel oil,and gasoline decreased the values of all biological indicators.The most sensitive indicator was the length of radish roots in soils polluted with oil,gasoline,and fuel oil after remediation with nitroammophoska and Baikal EM-1 addition.The length of roots was the most sensitive indicator when remediation was performed with biochar and sodium humate added to soil contaminated with oil and gasoline,and with contamination of haplic chernozem soil with fuel oil,the total number of bacteria was the most sensitive indicator.The most effective ameliorant to phytotoxicity indicators for oil pollution was a 1 d dose of biochar,for fuel oil it was 1 d biochar and 2 d sodium humate,and for gasoline it was a 2 d dose of biochar and Baikal EM-1.All ameliorants at most of the studied doses increased dehydrogenase activity,but increased catalase activity only in some cases.An increase in the total number of bacteria in oil-contaminated soils was promoted by biochar and nitroammophoska at a dose of 2 d.Nitroammophoska was the most effective in ameliorant in soils contaminated with fuel oil;in soils polluted with gasoline,all doses o

The present paper is inspired by the article “Ho’oleilana: An Individual Baryon Acoustic Oscillation?” published by R. B. Tully, C. Howlett, and d. Pomarède on Sep. 2023 [1]. They claim: Evidence is presented here for the discovery of a remarkably strong individual contribution to the baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) signal at z = 0.068, an entity that is given the name Ho’oleilana. K. dawson, co-spokesperson for dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument is more inclined to believe that this latest finding is something of a coincidence, a chance alignment that simply looks like a sphere with a radius around what you’d expect for a BAO [2]. In this paper, we provide a short summary of experimental observations of Boötes Void and Superclusters;discuss the main features of the developed Hypersphere World-Universe Model;introduce notions “Cosmic Voids” and “Cosmic Bubbles”;elaborate a mathematical framework for different types of Cosmic Bubbles (Hubble Spherical Bubble for the World, disk Bubbles for Galaxies;Spherical Bubbles for Extrasolar Systems, dark Matter (dM) Spherical Bubbles for Galaxies and Superclusters);make a conclusion that the Boötes is a dM Cosmic Bubble and suggest experiments, which confirm our conclusion.

Effectiveness of Bilateral Pulmonary Artery Banding in Patients with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and Congenital Heart defects with a Functional Single Ventricle: A Single-Center Retrospective Study

Background:Bilateral banding of the branches of the pulmonary artery in patients with hypoplastic left heart syndrome(HLHS)and other duct dependent critical neonatal heart malformations can significantly reduce the incidence of severe complications in the postoperative period,especially in severely unstable patients.In our study we compared different surgical techniques of bilateral pulmonary artery banding(PAB)in respect to their success in balancing systemic and pulmonary blood flow.Methods:We included 44 neonates with a HLHS and congenital heart diseases(CHd)with a functional single ventricle underwent a hybrid operation:bilateral PAB and patent ductus arteriosus stenting.The hybrid surgery for method No.1 is performed as a one-stage procedure,together with patent ductus arteriosus(PdA)stenting.After median sternotomy,two Gore-Tex 1–2 mm wide bands with a diameter of 3–3.5 mm are put.When we apply method No.2 then the thread is used to create bands.Method No.3 is distinguished by intraoperative assessment of blood flow at the site of narrowing of the branches of the pulmonary artery and optional stenting of the PdA.The cuff for banding is made of Gore-Tex tubing.Effectiveness when applying method Nos.1 and 2 is assessed by the change in invasive blood pressure and oxygen saturation after narrowing of the branches of the pulmonary artery.Also,with these techniques PdA stenting by inserting the introducer via pulmonary artery trunk is performed.Results:HLHS with mitral or aortic valve atresia or both was present in 19 patients(43.1%),with severe left heart obstruction resulting in PdA dependent systemic circulation in 16 babies(36.4%).CHd with single ventricle physiology occurred in 9 patients(20.5%).14 babies(31.8%)undergo the procedure following the method No.1,8 patients(18.2%)method No.2 and 22 patients(50%)method No.3.Qp/Qs=1/1 was achieved in 30 patients(30/44,68.1%):as a result of the method No.1 was achieved in 5 patients(5/14,35.7%),method No.2 in 4 patients(4/8,50%),method No.3 in 21 patients(21/22,95.

Critical aortic valve stenosis in newborns is the cause of a severe clinical condition with the onset of symptoms during first hours after birth.We present a clinical case of a successful surgical correction of a critical aortic stenosis using a hybrid method applied in a newborn during the first day of life.The infant was diagnosed with a hypoplastic left heart complex with an intact atrial septum(aortic and mitral valves stenosis variant),that led to the cardiogenic shock and acute pulmonary edema.The procedure included bilateral banding of the pulmonary artery branches and atrioseptostomy with stenting of the interatrial septum.The surgery was performed through a median sternotomy.

High-energy-density lithium metal batteries are the next-generation battery systems of choice,and replacing the flammable liquid electrolyte with a polymer solid-state electrolyte is a prominent conduct towards realizing the goal of high-safety and high-specific-energy devices.Unfortunately,the inherent intractable problems of poor solid-solid contacts between the electrode/electrolyte and the growth of Li dendrites hinder their practical applications.The in-situ solidification has demonstrated a variety of advantages in the application of polymer electrolytes and artificial interphase,including the design of integrated polymer electrolytes and asymmetric polymer electrolytes to enhance the compatibility of solid–solid contact and compatibility between various electrolytes,and the construction of artificial interphase between the Li anode and cathode to suppress the formation of Li dendrites and to enhance the high-voltage stability of polymer electrolytes.This review firstly elaborates the history of in-situ solidification for solid-state batteries,and then focuses on the synthetic methods of solidified electrolytes.Furthermore,the recent progress of in-situ solidification technology from both the design of polymer electrolytes and the construction of artificial interphase is summarized,and the importance of in-situ solidification technology in enhancing safety is emphasized.Finally,prospects,emerging challenges,and practical applications of in-situ solidification are envisioned.
