The effect of interaction between liquid crystal （LC） and photoalignment material on the speed of optical rewriting process is investigated. The theoretical analysis shows that a smaller frank elastic constant K22 of liquid crystal corresponds to a larger twist angle, which gives rise to a larger rewriting speed. Six different LC cells with the same boundary conditions （one substrate is covered with rubbed polyimide （PI） and the other with photo sensitive rewritable sulfuric dye I（SD1）） are tested experimentally under the same illumination intensity （450 nm, 80 mW/cm2）. The results demonstrate that with a suitable liquid crystal, the LC optical rewriting speed for e-paper application can be obviously improved. For two well known LC materials E7 （K22 is larger） and 5Cb （K22 is smaller）, they require 11 s and 6 s corresponding to change alignment direction for generating image information.

The current research is devoted to the study of the modification of the titanium implants by the micro-arc oxidation with bioactive calcium phosphate coatings containing Ag or Sr and Si *** coatings’microstructure,phase composition,morphology,physicochemical and biological properties were examined by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX)and X-ray diffraction(XRD).Ag-containing and Sr-Si-incorporated coatings were formed in alkaline and acid electrolytes,*** formation of the coatings occurred at different ranges of the applied voltages,which led to the significant difference in the coatings *** trace elements Ag,Sr and Si participated intensively in the plasma-chemical reactions of the micro-arc coatings ***-containing coatings demonstrated strong antibacterial effect against Staphylococcus aureus AТСС*** in vitro test with 3T3-L1 fibroblasts showed no cytotoxicity appearance on Sr-Si-incorporated coatings.

Infection with hepatotropic viruses is not limited to the liver and can lead to the development of various immunological disorders(the formation of cryoglobulins,rheumatoid factor,antinuclear antibodies,autoantibodies specific for autoimmune hepatitis and primary biliary cholangitis,and others),which can manifest as glomerulonephritis,arthritis,uveitis,vasculitis(cryoglobulinemic vasculitis,polyarteritis nodosa,Henoch-Schonlein purpura,isolated cutaneous necrotizing vasculitis),and other rheumatologic disorders,and be a trigger for the subsequent development of autoimmune hepatitis and primary biliary cholangitis.A further study of the association between autoimmune liver diseases and hepatotropic virus infection would be useful to assess the results of treatment of these associated diseases with antiviral *** relationship of these immune disorders and their manifestations with hepatotropic viruses is best studied for chronic hepatitis b and *** isolated cases of these associations are described for hepatitis *** links are least studied,and are often controversial for hepatitis E,possibly due to their relatively rare *** with uveitis,glomerulonephritis,arthritis,vasculitis,autoimmune liver diseases should be tested for biomarkers of viral hepatitis,and if present,these patients should be treated with antiviral drugs.

Objective： Hemodilution changes the physical properties of blood by reducing its hematocrit and blood viscosity. We tested whether prolonged hypervolemic hemodilution （HHD） impairs functional capillary density （FCD） of ileal mucosa in healthy mechanically-ventilated pigs and if there is any correlation between changes in FCD of ileal and sublingual mucosas during HHD. Methods： Sixteen domestic female pigs were anesthetized, mechanically-ventilated, and randomly assigned to the HHD （20 ml/（kg.h） Hartmann＇s solution for 3 h） or fluid restrictive （5 ml/（kg-h） Hartmann＇s solution for 3 h） group. Microcirculations of sublingual and ileal mucosas via ileostomy were visualized using sidestream dark-field （SDF） imaging at baseline conditions （t=0 h） and at selected time intervals of fluid therapy （t=-l, 2, and 3 h）. Results： A significant decrease of ileal FCD （285 （278-292） cm/cm^2） in the HHD group was observed after the third hour of HHD when compared to the baseline （360 （350-370） cm/cm2）（P〈0.01）. This trend was not observed in the restrictive group, where the ileal mucosa FCD was significantly higher after the third hour of fluid therapy as compared to the HHD group （P〈0.01）. No correlation between microhemodynamic parameters obtained from sublingual and ileal mucosas was found throughout the study. Conclusions： Prolonged HHD established by crystalloid solution significantly decreased ileal villus FCD when compared to restrictive fluid regimen. An inappropriate degree of HHD can be harmful during uncomplicated abdominal surgery.

AIMTo establish the role of nitric oxide (NO), ascorbic acid and tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in the pathogenesis of pseudoexfoliation glaucoma (XFG).METHODSOur study included 120 patients who were referred for cataract surgery. All patients were divided into four groups according to clinical findings: XFG, early and late pseudoexfoliation syndrome (XFS), and cataract (without pseudoexfoliation). Serum and aqueous humour levels of the ascorbic acid, NO and TNF-α were measured. The concentrations of the ascorbic acid and NO were measured by an appropriate spectrophotometric method. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to determine TNF-α *** humour concentration of ascorbic acid was significantly lower in patients with late XFS (0.61±0.11 mmol/L) and XFG (0.48±0.15 mmol/L) compared to patients with early XFS (0.9±0.15 mmol/L) and cataract (1.16±0.22 mmol/L), while there was no difference in serum concentration in all examined groups. Aqueous humour concentration of NO was significantly higher in patients with XFG (77.7±11.4 µmol/L) compared to patients with early XFS (50.27±9.34 µmol/L) and cataract (49.77±7.1 µmol/L), while serum concentration was increased in the early stage of XFS (73.26±8.29 µmol/L). Aqueous humour level of proinflammatory cytokine TNF-α was increased in patients with XFS (early 460.04±18.32 pg/mL; late 502.42±53.23 pg/mL) and XFG (510.34±43.07 pg/mL), while there was no difference in serum level in all examined groups of *** ascorbic acid and elevated NO and inflammation related cytokine TNF-α level in aqueous humour of the patients with developed XFG suggest that oxidative stress induces local inflammation.

We developed new optical switches based on nematic and ferroelectric liquid crystal(LC) cells for photonics applications. Certain new LC switches based on the effect of total internal reflection in nematic LC and deformed helix ferroelectric effect ferroelectric LC with very fast response time were developed. Fast bistable optical switches of the light polarization based on ferroelectric liquid crystal cells were proposed. The switches are characterized by 100 μs switching time and 26 db crosstalk at the wavelength of 632.8 nm and bistable, i.e., required zero power consumption in the switch *** frequency hysteretic free electrically controlled 0–2π phase modulation of light has been proposed using a very short helix pitch(less than 400 nm) deformed helix ferroelectric liquid crystal. The electrically controlled 0–2π hysteretic free phase modulation was achieved at the driving voltage frequency up to 4 kHz and the voltage amplitude of 32 V. The application of fast V-shaped deformed helix ferroelectric ferroelectric LC(DHF-FLC)for new active-matrix liquid crystal display(LCD) and optical data processing devices is *** technology can be very useful for the new generation of liquid crystal devices as well as in new photovoltaic, optoelectronic and photonic devices based on highly ordered thin organic layers. We have investigated the LC photoalignment in superthin tubes, which are basic elements of switchable photonic crystal/liquid crystal structures and obtained the order parameter comparable with usual homogeneous nematic LC cells. We studied LC alignment on silicon surfaces with submicrometer-sized straight and curved waveguide profiles. The liquid crystal cladding refractive index was then varied according to the applied voltage, and subsequently the microresonator resonance wavelengths were tuned. based on our initial measurements, the free spectral range(FSR) wavelength shift within the range of 20 nm was obtained, which is comparable

Soil and Rhizosphere Associated Fungi in Gray Mangroves(Avicennia marina) from the Red Sea—A Metagenomic Approach

Covering a quarter of the world＇s tropical coastlines and being one of the most threat- ened ecosystems, mangroves are among the major sources of terrestrial organic matter to oceans and harbor a wide microbial diversity. In order to protect, restore, and better understand these ecosystems, researchers have extensively studied their microbiology, yet few surveys have focused on their fungal communities, Our lack of knowledge is even more pronounced for specific fungal populations, such as the ones associated with the rhizosphere. Likewise, the Red Sea gray man- groves （Avicennia marina） remain poorly characterized, and understanding of their fungal commu- nities still relies on cultivation-dependent methods. In this study, we analyzed metagenomic datasets from gray mangrove rhizosphere and bulk soil samples collected in the Red Sea coast, to obtain a snapshot of their fungal communities. Our data indicated that Ascomycota was the dominant phylum （76%-85%）, while basidiomycota was less abundant （14%-24~）, yet present in higher numbers than usually reported for such environments. Fungal communities were more stable within the rhizosphere than within the bulk soil, both at class and genus level. This finding is consistent with the intrinsic patchiness in soil sediments and with the selection of specific microbial commu- nities by plant roots. Our study indicates the presence of several species on this mycobiome that were not previously reported as mangrove-associated. In particular, we detected representatives of several commercially-used fungi, e.g., producers of secreted cellulases and anaerobic producers of cellulosomes. These results represent additional insights into the fungal community of the gray mangroves of the Red Sea, and show that they are significantly richer than previously reported.
