Objective To study the in.luen.e of carcin.gen.c factors on.tissues an. organ. of the maxillofacial region.MFR)by measurin. the expression.of biomarkers in.the oral *** We recruited 421 patien.s who were divided in.o 2 groups:356 patien.s with a tumour of the MFR an. 65 healthy people without somatic pathology in.medical *** The effects of carcin.gen.c factors on.the expression.of biomarkers in.the oral fluid in.patien.s with a tumour of the MFR revealed a sign.fican. in.rease in.the levels of biomarkers of tobacco use-MMP-8,TIMP-1,TIMP-2,an. CA 72-4,CEA an. CA 125;frequen. use or abuse of alcohol-MMP-8,TIMP-1,TIMP-2,AFP an. n.E;use of n.rcotics-TIMP-1 an. TIMP-2;presen.e of occupation.l hazards in.the medical history-MMP-8,MMP-9,TIMP-1 an. TIMP-2;with a diagn.stic sen.itivity(DS)of over 60%.Also our an.lysis showed that the use of tobacco was sign.fican.ly affectin. the expression.of TIMP-1an. CA 125;frequen. use or abuse of alcohol-CA 19-9,AFP an. These challen.es can.be met by semicon.uctor photocatalysis, especially if the process is driven.by visible light en.rgy. Visible-light active (vla) photocatalysis, as opposed to tradition.l en.rgy-in.en.ive an. chemically driven.disin.ection.methods such as ozon.tion. UV irradiation.an. chlorin.tion. has the poten.ial for achievin. high disin.ection.efficien.y with low en.rgy con.umption.an. n. harmful by-products. This techn.logy gen.rates in.situ reactive oxygen.species (ROS) such as H2O2, an.?, without the n.ed for chemicals addition. In.turn. ROS are capable of pen.tratin. cell walls an. membran.s of microorgan.sms, effectively in.ctivatin. them. Although multiple types of vla photocatalysts have been.used experimen.ally for disin.ection.of water, n.ble-metal-based photocatalysts have gain.d the most in.erest due to their surface plasma reson.n.e (SPR) effect, which acts syn.rgistically to in.rease the disin.ection.poten.ial of the photocatalytic process. This paper is a review of the differen. types of n.ble-metal-based vla photocatalysts used for water disin.ection.in.differen. experimen.al settin.s, their syn.hesis procedures an. disin.ection.mechan.sms. It also discusses in.ovative approaches to overcome a major hurdle in.photocatalysis, that is, the rapid recombin.tion.of the electron.an. hole pair, by in.ludin. specific dopan.s in.o the structure of the photocatalyst.
