The current paper deals with the evaluation of the BAnCS erosion prediction model and its two componentsethe Bank Erosion Hazard Index（BEHI） and near-Bank Stress（nBS） indices. To construct the erosion prediction curves, 18 experimental sections were established on the Kubrica Stream, district of Trencín, Slovakia. Each section was assessed through the nBS index and BEHI index and real annual bank erosion was measured using erosion toe pins. Subsequently, the relations between the BEHI and real annual bank erosion was assessed through regression and correlation analyses. The relation proved to be moderately strong, with the correlation coefficient（r） reaching 0.47. Further, the relation between the nBS index and real annual bank erosion was evaluated, which was also moderately strong, with r= *** on the measured data, two erosion prediction curves were constructed, the first for moderate BEHI, with r= 0.69 and coefficient of determination（r2） of 0.47 and the second for high BEHI with r=0.74 and r2= 0.55. The prediction curves were based on data from one year of measurements and can, therefore, be used only for discharges that occurred within that year and in the region where the model was developed. In the current case, according to runoff Curve numbers（Cn）, the real culmination discharge was Q ? 1.88 m3/s, which is roughly equivalent to 1.5-year recurrence interval flow（Q1.5）.

Characterization of human retinal vessel arborisation in normal and amblyopic eyes using multifractal analysis

AIMTo characterize the human retinal vessel arborisation in normal and amblyopic eyes using multifractal geometry and lacunarity *** analysis using a box counting algorithm was carried out for a set of 12 segmented and skeletonized human retinal images, corresponding to both normal (6 images) and amblyopia states of the retina (6 images).rESULTSIt was found that the microvascular geometry of the human retina network represents geometrical multifractals, characterized through subsets of regions having different scaling properties that are not evident in the fractal analysis. Multifractal analysis of the amblyopia images (segmented and skeletonized versions) show a higher average of the generalized dimensions (Dq) for q=0, 1, 2 indicating a higher degree of the tree-dimensional complexity associated with the human retinal microvasculature network whereas images of healthy subjects show a lower value of generalized dimensions indicating normal complexity of biostructure. On the other hand, the lacunarity analysis of the amblyopia images (segmented and skeletonized versions) show a lower average of the lacunarity parameter Λ than the corresponding values for normal images (segmented and skeletonized versions).COnCLUSIOnThe multifractal and lacunarity analysis may be used as a non-invasive predictive complementary tool to distinguish amblyopic subjects from healthy subjects and hence this technique could be used for an early diagnosis of patients with amblyopia.

Objective:To assess the efficacy of ADA isoenzyme estimation over that of total ADA level in pleural fluid and serum as a more efficient diagnostic indicator in tuberculous pleural effusions in high prevalence country like ***:The efficacy was analysed in total thirty four patients of pleural *** ADA was estimated by Guitsi and Galanti Calorimetric method and ADA isoenzymes with and without EHnA[Erythro-9-（2- hydroxy-3-nonyl） adenine]a potent ADA1 inhibitor using the same ***:The results demonstrated a statistically significant values of ADA2 in serum（Pral fluid（P = 0.000） and significant value for the ratio of pleural fluid ADA2/serum ADA2（Pnd pleural fluid ADA/ADA(2（Pnsitivity and specificity values of pleural fluid ADA|2 is 81.8%and 91.6%（cut off value 60 IU/L for Tuberculous effusions）,serum ADA2 95.4%and 66%（cut off value 70 IU/L for tuberculous effusions）. ADA2 is an isoenzyme,which is significantly raised in tuberculous pleural effusions both in the serum and pleural ***:Estimation of ADA isoenzymes is redundant as a diagnostic aid over total ADA estimation in view of the limited improvements both in specificity and sensitivity patterns and also in term of cost-benefit ratio.

Gas phase dehydrocyclization of diphenylamine (DPA) to carbazole over monometallic and bimetallic 0.4 wt% Pt-based catalysts in a fixed bed reactor was studied in the presence of hydrogen at a temperature of 550 oC. Alumina and carbon supported Pt catalysts showed very high initial activity (> 95%). The selectivity for carbazole over carbon supported Pt catalysts was slightly lower. Doping of the catalyst with potassium led to an increase in the selectivity for carbazole by 15%. Bimetallic Pt-Sn catalysts prepared by co-impregnation were less selective than catalysts prepared by successive impregnation. The selectivity for carbazole over bimetallic Pt-Sn catalysts prepared by successive impregnation was 75%,but their activity decreased with increased Sn loading. Highly active and reasonably selective catalysts were Ir-doped bimetallic Pt-based catalysts. The conversion of diphenylamine over Pt-Ir catalysts was above 98% and the selectivity for carbazole was nearly 55%,while the lifetime was much longer.

Wheat sharp eyespot, a stem disease caused by the soilborne fungus rhizoctonia cerealis van der Hoeven,has become a threat to wheat production worldwide. Exploiting resistance resources from wild relatives of wheat is a promising strategy for controlling this disease. In this study, a new wheat–Dasypyrum villosum T2DS·2V#4L translocation line in the background of Chinese Spring(CS) showed stable resistance to r. cerealis. Introgression of the T2DS·2V#4L chromosome into wheat cultivar Aikang 58 by backcrossing produced a marked increase in sharp eyespot resistance in nIL-T2DS·2V#4L in comparison with nILT2DS·2DL, and no detrimental effects of 2V#4L on agronomic traits were observed in the BC2F2, BC2F2:3,and BC2F2:4generations. Flow-sorted sequencing of 2V#4L yielded 384.3 Mb of assembled sequence, and8836 genes were predicted of which 6154 had orthologs in at least one of the 2AL, 2BL, and 2DL arms of CS, whereas 1549 genes were unique to 2V#4L. About 100,000 SnPs were detected in genes of 2V#4L and2DL in 10 sequenced bread wheat cultivars. A Kompetitive Allele Specific Polymerase chain reaction and30 conserved ortholog sequence markers were developed to trace the 2V#4L chromatin in wheat backgrounds. T2DS·2V#4L compensating translocation lines represent novel germplasm with sharp eyespot resistance and the markers will allow rapid detection in breeding programs.
