The maximum flyer impact velocity based on a dynamic solidification cracking mechanism is proposed to describe the upper limit of collision welding process ***,the upper limit of the weld window is governed by the evolution of dynamic stresses and temperatures at the weld *** formulations for the upper limit of the collision weld window assume that both the flyer and target are made of the same material and approximate stress propagation velocities using the acoustic velocity or the shear wave velocity of the weld ***,collision welding fundamentally depends on the impacts that generate shockwaves in weld members,which can dominate the stress propagation velocities in thin weld ***,this study proposes an alternative weld window upper limit that approximates stress propagation using shock velocities calculated from modified 1-D Rankine-Hugoniot *** shock upper limit is validated against the experimental and simulation data in the collision welding literature,and offers a design tool to rapidly predict more accurate optimal collision weld process limits for similar and dissimilar weld couples compared to existing models without the cost or complexity of high-fidelity simulations.

Developing a well-predictive machine learning model that also offers improved interpretability is a key challenge to widen the application of artificial intelligence in various application domains. In this work, we present a Data Information integrated Neural Network (DINN) algorithm that incorporates the correlation information present in the dataset for the model development. The predictive performance of DINN is also compared with a standard artificial neural network (ANN) model. The DINN algorithm is applied on two case studies of energy systems namely energy efficiency cooling (ENC) & energy efficiency heating (ENH) of the buildings, and power generation from a 365 MW capacity industrial gas turbine. For ENC, DINN presents lower mean RMSE for testing datasets (RMSE_test = 1.23 %) in comparison with the ANN model (RMSE_test = 1.41 %). Similarly, DINN models have presented better predictive performance to model the output variables of the two case studies. The input perturbation analysis following the Gaussian distribution for noise generation reveals the order of significance of the variables, as made by DINN, can be better explained by the domain knowledge of the power generation operation of the gas turbine. This research work demonstrates the potential advantage to integrate the information present in the data for the well-predictive model development complemented with improved interpretation performance thereby opening avenues for industry-wide inclusion and other potential applications of machine learning.

We study the nonlinear coupling of kinetic Alfvén waves with ion acoustic waves applicable to the Earth’s radiation belt and near-Sun streamer belt solar wind using dynamical equations in the form of modified Zakharov *** simulations show the formation of magnetic field filamentary structures associated with density humps and dips which become turbulent at later times,redistributing the energy to higher *** magnetic power spectra exhibit an inertial range kolmogorov-like spectral index value of-5/3 for k_(⊥)ρ_(i)k_(⊥)andρ_(i)represent the wavevector component perpendicular to the background magnetic field and the ion thermal gyroradius,*** quasilinear theory in terms of the Fokker-Planck equation in the region of wavenumber turbulent spectra,we find the particle distribution function flattening in the superthermal tail population which is the signature of particle energization and plasma heating.

The digital twin(DT)is envisaged as a catalyst for pioneering ecosystems of service provision within an immersive environment born from the convergence of virtual and physical ***,DT could enhance the performance of edge-intelligent connected vehicular networks by allocating network resources efficiently based on the key performance indicators(kPIs)of vehicular data ***,this work addresses the key challenge of computation and spectrum resource allocation for vehicular *** allocate the optimal resource allocation,we subdivided the problem into:traffic classification,collective learning,and resource allocation *** order to do so,this paper concentrates on two crucial vehicular applications:brake application and lane-change *** utilize a random forest model to collectively learn vehicular data traffic in the upcoming time ***,a time-ahead resource allocation algorithm is proposed to improve the quality of service(QoS)by intelligently offloading vehicular data traffic to a DT-based integrated fiber-wireless(Fi-Wi)connected vehicular *** evaluate the performance of the resource allocation strategy in terms of resources required by the network alongside the packet loss *** was observed that there was a 44.74%increase in cost as the total computation resources increased from F=50 to 100 GHz,whereas the PLR of the network decreased by 71.43%.

Direct recycling is a novel approach to overcoming the drawbacks of conventional lithium-ion battery(LIB)recycling processes and has gained considerable attention from the academic and industrial sectors in recent *** primary objective of directly recycling LIBs is to efficiently recover and restore the active electrode materials and other components in the solid phase while retaining electrochemical *** technology's advantages over traditional pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy are costeffectiveness,energy efficiency,and sustainability,and it preserves the material structure and morphology and can shorten the overall recycling *** review extensively discusses the advancements in the direct recycling of LIBs,including battery sorting,pretreatment processes,separation of cathode and anode materials,and regeneration and quality enhancement of electrode *** encompasses various approaches to successfully regenerate high-value electrode materials and streamlining the recovery process without compromising their electrochemical ***,we highlight key challenges in direct recycling when scaled from lab to industries in four perspectives:(1)battery design,(2)disassembling,(3)electrode delamination,and(4)commercialization and *** on these challenges and changing market trends,a few strategies are discussed to aid direct recycling efforts,such as binders,electrolyte selection,and alternative battery designs;and recent transitions and technological advancements in the battery industry are presented.

BACkGROUND Transcranial direct current stimulation(tDCS)is proven to be safe in treating various neurological conditions in children and *** is also an effective method in the treatment of OCD in *** To assess the safety and efficacy of tDCS as an add-on therapy in drug-naive adolescents with *** We studied drug-naïve adolescents with OCD,using a Children’s Yale-Brown obsessive-compulsive scale(CY-BOCS)scale to assess their *** active and sham groups were given fluoxetine,and we applied cathode and anode over the supplementary motor area and deltoid for 20 min in 10 *** occurred at 2,6,and 12 wk using *** Eighteen adolescents completed the study(10-active,8-sham group).CY-BOCS scores from baseline to 12 wk reduced significantly in both groups but change at baseline to 2 wk was significant in the active group *** mean change at 2 wk was more in the active group(11.8±7.77 vs 5.25±2.22,P=0.056).Adverse effects between the groups were *** tDCS is safe and well tolerated for the treatment of OCD in ***,there is a need for further studies with a larger sample population to confirm the effectiveness of tDCS as early augmentation in OCD in this population.

Geochemical and mineralogical studies were performed in the La Pesca(LP)and Tesoro Altamira(TA)beach sediments,located in the Tamaulipas state,northern Gulf of *** main aim of this study is to infer the weathering history and provenance and to discriminate the tectonic environment of the beach *** sediments are composed of quartz with small amounts of accessory minerals such as plagioclase,calcite,orthoclase,microcline,and *** beach sediments are classified as fine-grained and very well sorted,however LP has coarse skewed and leptokurtic sediments,whereas TA has fine-skewed and very leptokurtic *** chemical index of weathering(CIW’)indicates intense weathering in the source *** quartz grain microtextures in the LP and TA are classified into mechanical,chemical,and mechanical/chemical *** features such as fractures,pits,percussion marks,abrasion fatigue,and V-shaped marks favor high-energy littoral,fluvial,subaqueous-marine,and aeolian *** chemical features indicate solution pits and crystalline overgrowth,which suggests a silica saturated marine *** mechanical/chemical features display adhering particles and elongated depressions suggest formation in a sub-aqueous nearshore marine *** and trace elements-based provenance discrimination diagrams indicate a felsic source derived from the Mesa Central(MC),Sierra Madre Oriental(SMOr)and Oaxaquia *** major and trace element concentrations imply a passive margin setting for the northern Gulf of Mexico,which is consistent with the general geology.
