Since the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke trial,intravenous thrombolysis has been gaining wide acceptance as the modality of treatment for acute embolic stroke,with a current therapeutic window of up to 4.5 *** imaging[with either magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)or computed tomography(CT)]and interventional techniques(thrombolysis and/or thrombectomy)have since improved and provided us with additional imaging of the penumbra using CT or MRI and more advanced thrombolysis or thrombectomy strategies that have been embraced in many centers dealing with patients with acute cerebral *** techniques,however,have come under scrutiny due to their accrued healthcare costs and have been questioned following major recent *** studies basically showed that interventional techniques were not superior to the traditional intravenous thrombolysis techniques and that penumbra imaging could not determine what patients would benefit from more aggressive(i.e.,interventional)*** discuss this in the light of the latest developments in both diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology and point out why further studies are needed in order to define the right choices for patients with acute ***,these studies were in part conducted with suboptimal patient recruitment strategies and did not always use the latest interventional techniques available ***,while these studies may have raised some relevant questions,at the same time,definitive answers have not been given,in our opinion.

Background The benefit of stroke thrombectomy for large infarct core still lacks robust randomised controlled *** To demonstrate the design of a clinical trial on endovascular therapy for acute anterior circulation large vessel occlusion(LVO)patients with large infarct core *** ANGEL-ASPECT is a multicentre,prospective,randomised,open-label,blinded End-point trial to evaluate whether best medical management(BMM)combined with endovascular therapy improves neurological functional outcomes as compared with BMM alone in acute LVO patients with Alberta Stroke Program Early CT Score(ASPECTS)of 3-5 on non-contrast CT or infarct core volume range of 70-100 mL(defined as rCBF<30%on CT perfusion or ADC<620 on MRI)up to 24 hours from symptom onset or last seen *** outcomes The primary efficacy outcome is 90(±7)days modified Rankin *** intracranial haemorrhage within 48 hours from randomisation is the primary safety *** The ANGEL-ASPECT trial will screen patients with large infarct core(ASPECTS 3-5 or 70-100 mL)through image evaluation criteria within 24 hours and explore the efficacy and safety of endovascular therapy compared with BMM.

Background and aim The clinical importance and management of vasospasm as a complication during endovascular stroke treatment(EVT)has not been well *** sought to investigate current expert opinions in neurointervention and therapeutic strategies of iatrogenic vasospasm during *** We conducted an anonymous international online survey(4 April 2023 to 15 May 2023)addressing treatment standards of neurointerventionalists(NIs)practising *** illustrative cases of patients with vasospasm during EVT were *** study groups were compared according to the NI’s opinion regarding the potential influence of vasospasm on patient outcome after EVT using descriptive *** In total,534 NI from 56 countries responded,of whom 51.5%had performed>200 *** was considered a complication potentially influencing the patient’s outcome by 52.6%(group 1)whereas 47.4%did not(group 2).Physicians in group 1 more often added vasodilators to their catheter flushes during EVT routinely(43.7%vs 33.9%,p=0.033)and more often treated severe large-vessel vasospasm with vasodilators(75.3%vs 55.9%;p<0.001),as well as extracranial vasospasm(61.4%vs 36.5%,p<0.001)and intracranial medium-vessel vasospasm(27.1%vs 11.2%,p<0.001),compared with group *** case of a large-vessel vasospasm and residual and amenable medium-vessel occlusion during EVT,the study groups showed different treatment *** 2 continued the EVT immediately more often,without initiating therapy to treat the vasospasm first(9.6%vs 21.1%,p<0.001).Conclusion There is disagreement among NIs about the clinical relevance of vasospasm during EVT and its *** was a higher likelihood of use of preventive and active vasodilator treatment in the group that perceived vasospasm as a relevant complication as well as differing interventional strategies for continuing an EVT in the presence of a large-vessel vasospasm.

In order to further improve the impact of the continuously evolving neurointerventional techniques, the interventional neuroradiologist needs to have at his disposal more powerful techniques to image the central nervous system. With the recent development of diagnostics techniques that are computed tomography and magnetic resonance based we are now able to assess not just morphology, but also physiology, physiopathology and function. This review discusses the place of diagnostic techniques in the evaluation that the interventional neuroradiologist hast to make when confronted with patients. We provide an overview of current techniques for the brain and spine.

The accumulation of anthocyanins is a well-known response to abiotic stresses in many plant ***,the effects of anthocyanin accumulation on light absorbance and photosynthesis are ***,we addressed this question using a promoter replacement line of tomato constitutively expressing a MYB transcription factor(ANTHOCYANIN1,ANT1)that leads to anthocyanin ***1-overexpressing plants displayed traits associated with shade avoidance response:thinner leaves,lower seed germination rate,suppressed side branching,increased chlorophyll concentration,and lower photosynthesis rates than the wild ***-rich leaves exhibited higher absorbance of light in the blue and red ends of the spectrum,while higher anthocyanin content in leaves provided photoprotection to high *** of gene expression and primary metabolites content showed that anthocyanin accumulation produces a reconfiguration of transcriptional and metabolic networks that is consistent with,but not identical to those described for the shade avoidance *** results provide novel insights about howanthocyanins accumulation affects the trade-off between photoprotection and growth.

In this paper,we present a probabilistic study of landslide susceptibility at the Sagrado River Watershed in Morretes,*** area is characterized by slopes higher than 20%in a large part of the relief,variable soil depths,and by strong rainfall intensities due to orographic *** together,these factors promote the occurrence of translational *** occupation is distributed along the lowlands and on the less inclined slopes of the Serra do *** infinite slope method was used to determine the distribution of susceptibility to *** parameters of the model consisted of geotechnical soil parameters,soil layer thickness,slope of the hillside,and matric suction,and the analysis implemented a Monte Carlo probabilistic *** such,this method allows the quantification of uncertainties due to the variability in geotechnical parameters,which enables the determination of a probability of *** elaboration of susceptibility maps to landslides for unsaturated soil conditions represents a useful tool to support the identification of critical events occurrences in this location.

The complex meniscus tissue plays a critical role in the knee. The high susceptibility to injury has led to an intense pursuit for better tissue engineering regenerative strategies, where scaffolds play a major role. In this study, indirect printed hierarchical multilayered sca ffolds composed by a silk fibroin (SF) upper layer and an 80/20 (w/w) ratio of SF/ionic-doped β-tricalcium phosphate (TCP) bottom layer were developed. Furthermore, a comparative analysis between two types of sca ffolds pro- duced using di fferent SF concentrations, i.e., 8% (w/v) (Hi8) and 16% (w/v) (Hi16) was performed. In terms of architecture and morphology, the produced sca ffolds presented homogeneous porosity in both layers and no di fferences were observed when comparing both sca ffolds. A decrease in terms of mechanical performance of the sca ffolds was observed when SF concentration decreased from 16 to 8% (w/v). Hi16 revealed a static compressive modulus of 0.66 ± 0.05 MPa and dynamical mechanical properties ranging from 2.17 ± 0.25 to 3.19 ± 0.38 MPa. By its turn, Hi8 presented a compressive modulus of 0.27 ± 0.08 MPa and dynamical mechanical properties ranging from 1.03 ± 0.08 MPa to 1.56 ± 0.13 MPa. In vitro bioactivity studies showed formation of apatite crystals onto the surface of Hi8 and Hi16 bottom layers. Human meniscus cells (hMCs) and human primary osteoblasts were cultured separately onto the top layer (SF8 and SF16) and bottom layer (SF8/TCP and SF16/TCP) of the hierarchical sca ffolds Hi8 and Hi16, respectively. Both cell types showed good adhesion and proliferation as denoted by the live/dead staining, Alamar Blue assay and DNA quanti fication analysis. Subcutaneous implantation in mice revealed weak in flammation and sca ffold’s integrity.
