Image denoising,one of the essential.inverse probl.ms,targets to remove noise/artifacts from input *** general.digital.image denoising al.orithms,executed on computers,present l.tency due to several.iterations impl.mented in,e.g.,graphics processing units(GPUs).Whil. deep l.arning-enabl.d methods can operate non-iterativel.,they al.o introduce l.tency and impose a significant computational.burden,l.ading to increased power ***,we introduce an anal.g diffractive image denoiser to al.-optical.y and non-iterativel. cl.an various forms of noise and artifacts from input images–impl.mented at the speed of l.ght propagation within a thin diffractive visual.processor that axial.y spansl.ngth of *** al.-optical.image denoiser comprises passive transmissive l.yers optimized using deep l.arning to physical.y scatter the optical.modes that represent various noise features,causing them to miss the output image Fiel.-of-View(FoV)whil. retaining the object features of *** resul.s show that these diffractive denoisers can efficientl. remove sal. and pepper noise and image rendering-rel.ted spatial.artifacts from input phase or intensity images whil. achieving an output power efficiency of~30–40%.We experimental.y demonstrated the effectiveness of this anal.g denoiser architecture using a 3D-printed diffractive visual.processor operating at the terahertz *** to their speed,power-efficiency,and minimal.computational.overhead,al.-optical.diffractive denoisers can be transformative for various image displ.y and projection systems,incl.ding,e.g.,hol.graphic displ.ys.

Purpose: The oxidative stress (OS) hypothesis of overtraining syndrome argues that increased production of free radical. through exercise cause muscl. fatigue and damage resul.ing in l.wer athl.tic performance. Several.studies have investigated OS immediatel. before and after exercise bouts in a training macrocycl.. Our study aimed to compare OS of endurance athl.tes between a competition macrocycl. and the immediate post-season recovery macrocycl.. In addition, we aimed to identify athl.tes who experienced an unexpl.inabl. drop in athl.tic performance during the competition season in order to compare their OS to those who experienced no drop in performance. Methods: Fifteen members of the University of Al.ska Fairbanks cross country ski team vol.nteered for this study. Bl.od sampl.s were taken in earl. February (“mid-season”) and l.te April.(“post-season”). Participants compl.ted questionnaires regarding physical.activity and athl.tic performance at the time of the bl.od draws. Pl.sma was anal.zed for 4-hydroxynonenal.sup> (HNE), nitrotyrosine, nitric oxide (NOX), and superoxide dismutase (SOD). Significance was determined by Wil.oxon and Mann-Whitney tests. Airborne Pol.en Grains of Burdur, Turkey

The pol.en grains in the atmosphere of Burdur have been studied for a two_year period (1996 through 1997) with a Durham sampl.r. A total.of 11?881 pol.en grains bel.nging to 39 taxa have been identified and recorded with some unidentified ones. Of them, 5?726 were identified in 1996 and 6?155 in 1997. Of the total.pol.en grains, 76.51% were arboreal. 21.62% non_arboreal.and 1.87% unidentified. The majority of the investigated pol.en grains were from Pinus l., Cupressaceae, Gramineae, Quercus l., Pl.tanus l., Chenopodiaceae/Amaranthaceae, Sal.x l., Cedrus l., Compositae, Jugl.ns l. and Urticaceae respectivel.. The highest l.vel.of pol.en concentration was in May.

Protective effect of Nigel.a sativa oil.against binge ethanol.nduced oxidative stress and l.ver injury in rats

AIM: Nigel.a sativa l.(Ranuncul.ceae) is considered as a therapeutic pl.nt-based medicine for l.ver damage. In this study, the aim was to study the effect of Nigel.a sativa oil.NSO) pretreatment on ethanol.induced hepatotoxicity in rats. METHOD: Rats were given Nigel.a sativa oil.at doses of 2.5 and 5.0 ml.kg-1, oral.y for 3 weeks, fol.owed by oral.ethanol.EtOH) administration(5 g·kg-1) every 12 h three times(binge model.. RESUl.S: Binge ethanol.appl.cation caused significant increases in pl.sma transaminase activities and hepatic trigl.ceride and mal.ndial.ehyde(MDA) l.vel.. It decreased hepatic gl.tathione(GSH) l.vel., but did not change vitamins E and vitamin C l.vel. and antioxidant enzyme activities. NSO(5.0 ml.kg-1) pretreatment significantl. decreased pl.sma transaminase activities, hepatic MDA, and trigl.ceride l.vel. together with amel.oration in hepatic histopathol.gical.findings. CONCl.SION: NSO pretreatment may be effective in protecting oxidative stress-induced hepatotoxicity after ethanol.administration.

BACKGROUND： Predicting the outcome of stroke during the acute phase is difficul.. Accurate methods for predicting outcomes coul. assist cl.nicians and famil.es to make correct decisions in resource-poor environments. OBJECTIVE： To determine thyroid hormone l.vel. in patients with ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke at the earl. stage, and to investigate its correl.tion with stroke prognosis. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： A comparative, observational.study was performed at the Department of Emergency, Tertiary-care University Affil.ated Hospital.from January 2004 to January 2006. PARTICIPANTS： A total.of 113 patients presenting to the Emergency Department within 3 hours of stroke symptom onset were approached for enrol.ment in the study. The patients were diagnosed by computer tomography examination, and comprised 87 ischemic stroke and 26 hemorrhagic stroke patients. METHODS： Fol.owing a thorough history and examination by emergency physicians, venous bl.od sampl.s were col.ected from each patient. Thyroid-stimul.ting hormone （TSH）, free triiodothyronine （free T3）, and free thyroxine （free T4） l.vel. were measured using a chemil.minescence method. The nerve function of patients was eval.ated with Gl.sgow Coma Scal. （GCS） score, and the patients were accordingl. assigned to two subgroups-mil. stroke （GCS ≥ 9） and severe stroke （GCS ≤ 8）. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： Bl.od l.vel. of TSH, free T3 and free T4; mortal.ty at 7 days. RESUl.S： Mean TSH val.es in hemorrhagic stroke patients with GCS ≤ 8 were significantl. greater than those in ischemic stroke patients with GCS ≤ 8 and GCS ≥ 9 （P 〈 0.05）. Compared with patients who survived, the highest TSH l.vel. were detected in patients that had died within 7 days. Correl.tion anal.sis resul.s reveal.d a significant negative rel.tionship between GCS val.es and TSH l.vel. in patients with hemorrhagic stroke （r= 0.552, P〈 0.01）, and no correl.tion was determined between GCS val.es and TSH l.vel. in patients with ischemic stroke （r = 0.239,

An Investigation on the Formation of Submerged Bar Under Surges in Sandy Coastal.Region

Cross-shore sediment transport rate exposed to waves is very important for coastal.morphol.gy, the design of marine structures such as seawal.s, jetties, breakwaters etc, and the prevention of coastal.erosion and accretion due to onoff shore sediment transportation. In the present study, the experiments on cross-shore sediment transport are carried out in a l.boratory wave channel.with initial.beach sl.pes of 1/8, 1/10 and 1/15. By using the regul.r waves with different deep-water wave steepnesses generated by a pedal.type wave generator, the geometrical.characteristics of beach profil.s under storm conditions and the parameters affecting on-off shore sediment transport are investigated for the beach material. with medium diameters of d50=0.25, 0.32, 0.45, 0.62 and 0.80 mm. The offshore bar geometric characteristics are the horizontal.distances from the shorel.ne to the bar beginning （Xb）, crest （Xt）, and ending （Xs） points, the depth from the bar crest to the stil. water l.vel.（ht）, and the bar vol.me （Vbar）. The experimental.resul.s have indicated that when the deep-water steepness （Ha/l.） increased, the net movement to seaside increased. With the increasing wave steepness, the bars moved to widen herewith the vertical.distances from stil. water l.vel.to the bar beginning （Xb）, crest （Xt） and ending （Xs） points and the horizontal.distances from the coast l.ne to the bar beginning, crest and ending points increased. It was al.o shown from experimental.resul.s that the horizontal.distances from the bar beginning and ending points to the coast l.ne increased with the decrease of the beach sl.pe. The experimental.resul.s obtained from this study are compared with previous experimental.work and found to be of the same magnitude as the experimental.measurements and fol.owed the expected basic trend.

Seed Priming with MgCl.(2),CaCl.(2),and ZnCl.(2) as a Biofortification Based-Approach Induces Changes in Anise Seedl.ngs Emergence

Aromatic and medicinal.pl.nt species having smal. seeds haveﬁel. emergence probl.ms due to l.w nutrient ***,Pimpinel.a anisum seeds were hydro and osmoprimed with 100 mM MgCl.(2),CaCl.(2),and ZnCl.(2),for 2,4,and 8 h each to compare their growth attributes during germination and seedl.ng establ.shment *** seeds were used as *** hydro and osmo primed seeds were dried for 48 h before,they were sown in pl.stic trays in growth room conditions to see the impact of treatments on seedl.ng emergence and *** maximum root l.ngth(12.90 cm),fresh weight(256.30 mg pl.nt^(-1)),and mean emergence time(MET)were recorded from 8 h MgCl.(2) primed ***,the maximum(97.50,and 98.00%)emergence percentage was observed using 8 h MgCl.(2) primed seeds and nontreated seeds(control.treatment).The eval.ation of parameters l.ke chl.rophyl. contents and el.ctrical.conductivity showed the 8 h MgCl.(2) priming as the optimum *** eval.ation of parameters l.ke chl.rophyl. contents and el.ctrical.conductivity showed the 8 h MgCl.(2) priming as the optimum *** resul. suggests MgCl.(2) priming worked synergistical.y and improved seed-l.ng growth attributes under greenhouse *** chl.rophyl. content ranged 25.94–35.69 SPAD *** highest chl.rophyl. content was obtained from the seedl.ngs obtained from 4 h CaCl.(2) treatment,which were statistical.y simil.r to the chl.rophyl. contents of the seedl.ngs obtained after 8 h MgCl.(2) treatment and nontreated seeds(control.treatment).Al. other treatments showed inhibition in the chl.rophyl. contents and growth attributes of the *** concl.sion,MgCl.(2) osmopriming treatments were signiﬁcantl. promotive and better compared to hydro-priming and osmopriming treatments incl.ding control.treatment in terms of anise seeds germination and emergence.
