The rapid and label-free diagnosis of malignancies in ex vivo breast biopsy tissues has significant utility in pathology laboratories and operating *** report a MEMS-based platform integrated with microchips that performs phenotyping of breast biopsy tissues using electrothermal *** microchip,fabricated on a silicon substrate,incorporates a platinum microheater,interdigitated electrodes(IDEs),and resistance temperature detectors(RTDs)as on-chip sensing *** microchips are integrated onto the platform using a slide-fit contact enabling quick replacement for biological *** bulk resistivity(ρB),surface resistivity(ρS),and thermal conductivity(k)of deparaffinized and formalin-fixed paired tumor and adjacent normal breast biopsy samples from N=8 patients were *** formalin-fixed samples,the meanρB for tumors showed a statistically significant fold change of 4.42(P=0.014)when the tissue was heated from 25°C to 37°C compared to the adjacent normal tissue,which showed a fold change of *** meanρS measurements also showed a similar *** mean k of the formalinfixed tumor tissues was 0.309±0.02Wm^(-1)K^(-1)compared to a significantly higher k of 0.563±0.028 Wm^(-1)K^(-1)for the adjacent normal tissues.A similar trend was observed inρB,ρS,and k for the deparaffinized tissue *** analysis of a combination ofρ_(B,)ρ_(S,)and k using Fisher’s combined probability test and linear regression suggests the advantage of using all three parameters simultaneously for distinguishing tumors from adjacent normal tissues with higher statistical significance.

Prediction and Expression Analysis of miRNAs Associated with Heat Stress in Oryza sativa

Computational prediction of potential microRNAs （miRNAs） and their target genes was performed to identify the miRNAs and genes associated with temperature response in rice. The data of temperature-responsive miRNAs of Arabidopsis, and miRNAs and the whole genome data of rice were used to predict potential miRNAs in Oryza sativa involved in temperature response. A total of 55 miRNAs were common in both the species, and 27 miRNAs were predicted at the first time in rice. Target genes were searched for these 27 miRNAs in rice genome following stringent criteria. Real time PCR based on expression analysis of nine miRNAs showed that majority of the miRNAs were down regulated under heat stress for rice cultivar Nagina 22. Furthermore, miR169, miR1884 and miR160 showed differential expression in root and shoot tissues of rice. Identification and expression studies of miRNAs during heat stress will advance the understanding of gene regulation under stress in rice.

那马达—萨加(Narmada Sagar)坝位于印度中央邦那马达河上,是正在修建中的一座混凝土重力坝。坝顶长653米,最大坝高92米。本文论述坝基岩土力学勘察研究的成果,包括:岩体强度参数评价,现代岩石力学概念的应用,特别是坝基岩体分级,变形模量,剪切参数,强度和渗透性。观测节理系统,用以解释少数岩芯获得率差的区段,并说明钻探计划的孔位和方向。这提示:可由此估计渗水节理的间距和张开度,进而用以估量岩体中孔隙的可灌浆容积。为了作到优化灌浆,打斜孔是可取的。研究已经获得的各种参数值及其相关关系,得出如下结论:那马达—萨加坝坝基岩体是可胜任并适合于在建的混凝土重力坝。

Mechanical, thermal and fire nanoclay/vinylester retardation behaviours of nanocomposites

The dispersion of montmorillonite （MMT） in vinylester for preparing nanoclay/vinylester gel coat was reported. Two sets of MMT/vinylester specimens, namely Type I and Type 2, were prepared for comparative studies. Type I specimens were prepared using ultrasonication only, and Type 2 specimens were prepared using both ultrasonication and twin-screw extrusion. According to XRD and TEM results, Type 2 specimens showed lower levels of nanoclay agglomeration and higher levels o! exfoliation. DSC results showed that the glass transition temperatures of Type 2 specimens are higher than those of Type 1 specimens. TGA results showed that the residual weight of 4 wt.% MMT/vinylester of Type 1 was 7.38%, while the corresponding value of Type 2 was 13,5%, indicating lower thermal degradation in the latter. MMTt vinylester/glass and MMT/vinylester/carbon specimens were fabricated and tested for mechanical and fire retardation behaviours. Type 2 based nanocomposite laminates showed greater values of ultimate tensile strength, flexural strength, interlaminar shear strength, impact strength, horizontal burning rate, and vertical burning rate than Type 1 based laminates. SEM images of tensile fractured surfaces revealed that Type 2 based laminates have no or less agglomeration of nanoclay than Type 1 based laminates.

The Crystallographic and Optical Studies on Cobalt Doped CdS Nanoparticles

The samples of Cd1?- xCoxS with compositions x = 0.0 & 0.6 were prepared by Co-precipitation route at room temperature. XRD analysis confirms that the samples have cubic structure with no impurity phases. The lattice parameter, volume cell, X-ray density and grain size were calculated using XRD data. It is found that lattice parameter, volume of unit cell and X-ray density decrease with enhancing Co content. It is due to the smaller ionic radius of Co than the Cd. It is well noticed that the grain size increases with increasing Co content, it may be owing to the good synthesis technique. The functional groups and chemical interaction were determined by FTIR spectra. From FTIR spectra, it is investigated that absorption bands show the presence of resonance interaction between vibrational modes of oxide ions in the crystal. The energy band gap of Co doped CdS samples was calculated using UV-Vis analysis. It is observed that energy band gap decreases with increasing Co content owing to the sp-d exchange interaction between Co and CdS atoms.

In the present paper, we prove two theorems. In first theorem, we prove fixed point result for self-maps in the metric space under contractive condition of integral type by altering distance. In second result, we prove a unique common fixed point theorem by considering four sub compatible maps under a contractive condition of integral type.

Cardiopulmonary Bypass for Tracheal Resection and Repair—A Safe Alternative

Airway management during tracheal surgery is always challenging for the anaesthesia team. Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is generally not required during tracheal surgery on the cervical trachea. However, for tracheal surgeries CPB may be advantageous and give the surgeon more freedom to work. We report three cases of post-intubation tracheal stenosis successfully managed with tracheal resection and reconstruction performed under cardiopulmonary bypass.

目的:研究微管不稳定蛋白stathmin在炎症性皮肤病引起的慢性瘙痒患者发病机制中的作用。方法:收集35例炎症性皮肤病引起的慢性瘙痒患者的皮损标本和3例正常人的皮肤标本。用免疫组化(immunohistochemistry,IHC)法检测皮肤活检标本中stathmin的表达。用苏木精-伊红染色(hematoxylin-eosinstaining,HE染色)检测患者表皮组织中病理结构的变化。结果:IHC法检测结果显示,与正常对照的皮肤相比,stathmin在患者皮损中表皮角质形成细胞、毛囊上皮细胞和免疫炎症细胞中高表达。HE染色显示慢性瘙痒患者皮损处增厚、角化过度,并伴有炎症性细胞浸润。结论:研究结果初步表明stathmin在慢性瘙痒的机制中发挥作用。Stathmin通过在角质形成细胞、上皮细胞和免疫炎症细胞中的表达影响皮肤屏障功能,促进慢性瘙痒的进程。Stathmin可能是慢性瘙痒治疗的新靶点,对慢性瘙痒的治疗和新药研发具有重要意义。
