Stable fuzzy controllers via LMI approach for non-linear systems described by type-2 T-S fuzzy model

Purpose-The purpose of this paper is to stabilize the type-2 Takagi-Sugeno(T-S)fuzzy systems with the sufficient and guaranteed stability *** given conditions efficaciously handle parameter uncertainties by the upper and lower membership functions of the type-2 fuzzy sets(FSs).Design/methodology/approach-This paper reports on a relevant study of stable fuzzy controllers and type-2 T-S fuzzy systems and reported that the synthesis of controller for nonlinear systems described by the type-2 T-S fuzzy model is a key problem and it can be resolve to convex problems via linear matrix inequalities(LMIs).Findings-The multigain fuzzy controllers are established to improve the solvability of the stability conditions,and the authors design multigain fuzzy controllers which have extensive information of upper and lower membership ***,the authors derive the traditional stability condition in terms of *** simulation examples illustrate the effectiveness and robustness of the derived stabilization ***/value-The uncertain MIMO nonlinear system described by Type-2 Takagi-Sugeno(T-S)fuzzy model,and successively LMI approach used to determine the system stability *** proposed control approach will give superior fault-tolerant control permanence under the actuator fault[partial loss of effectiveness(LOE)].Also the controller robust against the unmeasurable process ***,the statistical z-test are carried out to validate the proposed control approach against the control approach proposed by Himanshukumar and vipul(2019a).

BACKGROUND Tourniquets are commonly used in elective extremity orthopaedic surgery to reduce blood loss,improve visualization in the surgical field,and to potentially reduce surgical *** is a lack of consensus in existing guidelines regarding the optimal tourniquet pressure,placement site,and duration of *** is a paucity of data on the relationship between the site of a tourniquet and postoperative pain in foot and ankle *** To explore the relationship between tourniquet site and intensity of post-operative pain scores in patients undergoing elective foot and ankle *** Retrospective analysis of prospectively collected data on 201 patients who underwent foot and ankle surgery in a single institution was *** tourniquet duration,tourniquet pressure and site,and postoperative pain scores using Visual Analogue Score were collected in immediate recovery,at six hours and at 24 h *** plots were used to analyse the data and to assess for the statistical correlation between tourniquet pressure,duration,site,and pain scores using Pearson correlation *** All patients who underwent foot and ankle surgery had tourniquet pressure of 250 mmHg for ankle tourniquet and 300 mmHg for *** was no correlation between the site of the tourniquet and pain scores in recovery,at six hours and after 24 *** was a weak correlation between tourniquet time and Visual Analogue Score immediately post-op(r=0.14,P=0.04)but not at six or 24 h *** This study shows that there was no statistically significant correlation between tourniquet pressure,site and postop pain in patients undergoing foot and ankle *** choice of using a tourniquet is based on the surgeon's preference,with the goal of minimizing the duration of its application at the operative site.

Comparative analysis of proficiencies of various textures and geometric features in breast mass classification using k-nearest neighbor

This paper introduces a comparative analysis of the proficiencies of various textures and geometric features in the diagnosis of breast masses on *** improved machine learning-based framework was developed for this *** proposed system was tested using 106 full field digital mammography images from the INbreast dataset,containing a total of 115 breast mass *** proficiencies of individual and various combinations of computed textures and geometric features were investigated by evaluating their contributions towards attaining higher classification *** state-of-the-art filter-based feature selection algorithms(Relief-F,Pearson correlation coefficient,neighborhood component analysis,and term variance)were employed to select the top 20 most discriminative *** Relief-F algorithm outperformed other feature selection algorithms in terms of classification results by reporting 85.2%accuracy,82.0%sensitivity,and 88.0%specificity.A set of nine most discriminative features were then selected,out of the earlier mentioned 20 features obtained using Relief-F,as a result of further *** classification performances of six state-of-the-art machine learning classifiers,namely k-nearest neighbor(k-NN),support vector machine,decision tree,Naive Bayes,random forest,and ensemble tree,were investigated,and the obtained results revealed that the best classification results(accuracy=90.4%,sensitivity=92.0%,specificity=88.0%)were obtained for the k-NN classifier with the number of neighbors having k=5 and squared inverse distance *** key findings include the identification of the nine most discriminative features,that is,FD26(Fourier Descriptor),Euler number,solidity,mean,FD14,FD13,periodicity,skewness,and contrast out of a pool of 125 texture and geometric *** proposed results revealed that the selected nine features can be used for the classification of breast masses in mammograms.

BACKGROUND The transanal opening of intersphincteric space(TROPIS)procedure,performed to treat complex anal fistulas,preserves the external anal sphincter(EAS)but involves partial incision of the internal anal sphincter(IAS).AIM To ascertain the incidence of incontinence after the division of the IAS as is done in TROPIS and to evaluate whether regular Kegel exercises(KE)in the postoperative period can prevent incontinence due to IAS *** Patients operated on for high complex fistulas and having no preoperative continence problem(score=0)were included in the *** patients were operated on by the TROPIS procedure and were recommended KE(pelvic contraction exercises)50 times/*** were commenced on the 10^(th)postoperative day and continued for 1 *** was evaluated objectively(by modified Vaizey’s scores)in the immediate postoperative period(Pre-KE group)and on long-term follow-up(Post-KE group).The incontinence scores in both groups were compared to evaluate the efficacy of *** Of 102 anal fistula patients operated on between July 2018 and July 2020 were included in this *** were 90 males,the mean age was 42.3±12.8,and the median follow-up was 30 mo(18-42 mo).Three patients were lost to *** were 65 recurrent fistulas,92 had multiple tracts,42 had associated abscess,46 had horseshoe fistula and 34 were supralevator *** were magnetic resonance imaging-documented high fistulas(>1/3 EAS involved).Overall incontinence occurred in 31%patients(Pre-KE group)with urge and gas incontinence accounting for the majority of cases(28.3%).The mean incontinence scores in the Pre-KE group were 1.19±1.96(in 31 patients,solid=0,liquid=7,gas=8,urge=24)and in the Post-KE group were 0.26±0.77(in 13 patients,solid=0,liquid=2,gas=3,urge=10)(P=0.00001,t-test).CONCLUSION Division of the IAS led to incontinence,mainly urge incontinence,and also to a mild degree of gas and liquid ***,regular KE led to a significa
