Paleozoic tectonic evolution of the proto-Korean Peninsula along the East Asian continental margin from detrital zircon U-Pb geochronology and Hf isotope geochemistry

Detrital zircon geochronology and Hf isotope analysis can be used for inferring provenance characteristics,and to evaluate the tectonic evolution of sedimentary basins and their link with regional *** Paleozoic sequences of the Okcheon Belt consist of the Lower Paleozoic Joseon and the Upper Paleozoic Pyeongan supergroups with Middle Paleozoic hiatus locally on top of the Neoproterozoic bimodal volcanic rocks,reflecting an intracontinental rift setting between the two basements(*** and Yeongnam massifs)at southern part of the Korean *** detrital zircon U-Pb ages and Lu-Hf isotope results show that all these Paleozoic strata commonly have Paleoproterozoic and Paleozoic zircon ages with rare Meso-to Neoproterozoic *** individual zircon populations display following features,allowing estimation of their sedimentary provenances:(i)The Paleoproterozoic zircons(ca.1.85 Ga and 2.50 Ga)with similar ranges ofεHf(t)values are most common in the basement rocks of the Korean Peninsula,and were sourced from both the Gyeonggi and Yeongnam massifs.(ii)The Meso-to Neoproterozoic zircons,preserved only in the Middle to Late Cambrian clastic sedimentary rocks within the carbonate sequences probably reflect proximal provenance.(iii)The youngest Paleozoic zircons of each formation,almost coincident with their deposition ages,suggest presence of syndepositional magmatism,indicating proximal magmatic sources during their deposition.(iv)The Cambrian-Ordovician zircons,from the Lower Paleozoic sequences,but rare in the successive Upper Paleozoic sequences,suggest a provenance change after the hiatus between the two sedimentary successions.(v)The Permian zircons showing differentεHf(t)values indicate that detrital sources were varied at that *** integrated results in our study suggest provenance variability linked to diverse tectonic environments,reflecting prolonged subduction-related crustal evolution of the proto-Korean Peninsula during the Paleozo

In the present study,rare earth samarium(Sm^(3+))substituted Ni-Cu spinel ferrites with the composition of Ni_(0.1)Cu_(0.9)Sm_(x)Fe_(2-x)O_(4)(0≤x≤0.05 in steps of 0.01)were synthesized by using the citrate induced sol-gel auto combustion *** ferrites'structural,optical,magnetic,and dielectric studies were carried out using X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM),ultraviolet-visible(Uv-vis),a vibrational sample magnetometer(vSM),and an LCR *** pure Ni-Cu ferrite exhibits a tetragonal structure owing to the presence of the John Tellar ion(Cu^(2+)).XRD patterns confirm that the tetragonal structure gradually transforms into the cubic spinel structure with samarium *** nano-scale structures of these ferrites were confirmed by the average crystallite size(10.11-20.99 nm)derived from the X-ray diffraction patterns,and grain size(42.60-83.36 nm)assessed from FESEM *** existence of elements according to their chemical composition was verified by using energy dispersive X-ray(EDX)*** absorption bands(v_(1) and v_(2))detected in FTIR transmission spectra below the wavenumber of 600 cm^(-1)reveal the stretching vibrations of M-O bonds in the spinel structure at tetrahedral and octahedral *** band gap ene rgy obtained from Uv absorption reveals the semiconducting nature of the *** high saturation magnetization(M_(s))is noticed at 15 K temperature for x=0.02 composition as 32.98 emu/g,while at 300 K for x=0.01composition as 27.61 emu/*** suggested cation distribution is in good agreement with observed and predicted magnetic moment values at 300 *** expected behavior of ferrites reveals the observed dielectric constant,loss tangent,and ac-conductivity values in the frequency range of 20 Hz-20 ***-Cole plots confirm that the impedance contribution is attributed to grain boundaries.

The water impact and subsequent entry of three rigid axisymmetric bodies,a sphere and two cones,in the early phase are simulated using CFD utilizing a vOF scheme to track the free surface and the results compared with the recent experimental results available in the *** penetration depth,vertical velocity and vertical acceleration time histories have been reproduced well by CFD with a wide choice of mesh density,whereas the peak pressure on impact required a much finer mesh and appropriate choice of the time *** an interaction region around the trajectory of the body with fine mesh and an adaptive time stepping strategy has worked well to capture the peak impact pressure accurately with reasonable computational ***‘full’motion of the sphere,which is buoyant,has also been simulated using CFD allowing its 6-dof motion for several cycles of entry and exit *** features of the behavior,especially the loss of symmetry of the trajectory,are discussed.

In this paper we have searched for the existence of Lyra’s cosmology in a hybrid universe with minimal interaction between dark energy and normal matter using Bianchi-v space-time. To derive the exact solution, the average scale factor is taken as a =(t~nekt)1/m which describes the hybrid nature of the scale factor and generates a model of the transitioning universe from the early deceleration phase to the present acceleration phase. The quintessence model makes the matter content of the derived universe remarkably able to satisfy the null, dominant and strong energy condition. It has been found that the time varying displacement β(t) co-relates with the nature of cosmological constant Λ(t). We also discuss some physical and geometrical features of the universe.

The objective of this study was to convert biochar,a byproduct generated from the hydrothermal process(in oxygen-limited environment)of biomass(e.g.,corn stover),into value-added *** specific,three-dimensional(3D)biochar-containing precursor sponge,which was made by using electrospun polymer nanofibers as skeleton support,was fabricated via an innovative *** weight ratio of biochar to polymer(in the precursor sponge)was 2/1,and it appeared that the biochar weight ratio could be further *** heat treatments(i.e.,stabilization in air and carbonization in argon),the precursor sponge was converted into carbon nanofibrous sponge that had the porosity of~90 vol%,the BET surface area of~51.7 m^(2) g^(−1),and the carbon content of~95 wt%;and it was mechanically elastic/*** electrochemical study indicated that,the carbon nanofibrous sponge could be utilized for making supercapacitor electrode with excellent rate capability and high kinetic *** study would not only demonstrate a high-value application of hydrothermally generated biochar,but also provide a facile while novel approach for the fabrication of carbon nanofibrous sponge which could be potentially used for various applications(particularly the energy storage application).

The effect of photoperiod, temperature, humidity, rainfall and moisture were examined on the annual migration ofLuprops tristis （Fabricius, 1801）（Coleoptera： Tenebrionidae） from rubber plantations to shelters, and the induction of 9 months dormancy thereafter. Results confirm the role of rainfall-mediated wetness from summer showers as the cue that induces dormancy in Luprops tristis and provide further proof to the function and significance of moisture in diapause induction in tropical insects. Other factors did not have any significant independent effect on migration and dormancy induction. Reserve food accumulation by teneral adults well ahead of the onset of adverse conditions and the non-return of beetles to the field in short-term favorable conditions strongly indicate that Luprops tristis has evolved the ability to ＂predict＂ and avoid adverse conditions and the inheritance of dormancy-regulating factors from the parent generation.

Temperature Modulates Tissue-Specification Program to Control Fruit Dehiscence in Brassicaceae

Plants respond to diurnal and seasonal changes in temperature by reprogramming vital developmental pathways. Understanding the molecular mechanisms that define environmental modulation of plant growth and reproduction is critical in the context of climate change that threatens crop yield worldwide. Here, we report that elevated temperature accelerates fruit dehiscence in members of the Brassicaceae family including the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana and important crop species. Arabidopsis fruit development is controlled by a network of interacting regulatory genes. Among them, the INDEHISCENT （IND） gene is a key regulator of the valve-margin tissue that mediates fruit opening, hence facilitating fruit dehiscence. We demonstrated that the valve-margin development is accelerated at higher temperature and that IND is tar- geted for thermosensory control. Our results reveal that IND upregulation is facilitated via temperature- induced chromatin dynamics leading to accelerated valve-margin specification and dispersal of the seed. Specifically, we show that temperature-induced changes in IND expression are associated with ther- mosensory H2A.Z nucleosome dynamics. These findings establish a molecular framework connecting tis- sue identity with thermal sensing and set out directions for the production of temperature-resilient crops.
