Effect of temperature tuning on the aerosol acoustic aggregation process

Diesel exhaust aerosols（DEAs） can absorb and accumulate toxic metal particulates and bacteria suspended in the atmospheric environment, which impact human health and the *** use of acoustic standing waves（ASWs） to aggregate DEA is currently considered to be an efficient particle removal method; however, study of the effect of different temperatures on the acoustic aggregation process is scarce. To explore the method and technology to regulate and optimize the aerosol aggregation process through temperature tuning, an acoustic apparatus integrated with a temperature regulation function was constructed. Using this apparatus, the effect of different characteristic temperatures（CTs） on the aerosol aggregation process was investigated experimentally in the ASW environment. Under constant conditions of acoustic frequency 1.286 kHz, voltage amplitude 17 V and input electric power 16.7 W, the study concentrated on temperature effects on the aggregation process in the CT range of 58–72℃. The DEA opacity was used. The results demonstrate that the aggregation process is quite sensitive to the CT, and that the optimal DEA aggregation can be achieved at 66℃. The aggregated particles of 68.17 μm are composed of small nanoparticles of 13.34–62.15 nm. At CTs higher and lower than 66℃, the apparatus in non-resonance mode reduces the DEA aggregation level. For other instruments, the method for obtaining the optimum temperature for acoustic agglomeration is universal. This preliminary demonstration shows that the use of acoustic technology to regulate the aerosol aggregation process through tuning the operating temperature is feasible and convenient.

Fluids engineering is extremely important in a wide variety of materials processing systems,such as soldering,welding,extrusion of plastics and other polymeric materials,Chemical Vapor Deposition(CVD),composite materials *** particular,mixed convection due to moving surfaces is very important in these *** convection in a channel,as a result of buoyancy and motion of one of its walls has received little research attention and few guidelines are available for choosing the best performing channel configuration,particularly when radiative effects are *** this study a numerical investigation of the effect of radiation on mixed convection in air due to the interaction between a buoyancy flow and an unheated moving plate induced flow in a uniformly heated convergent vertical channel is carried *** moving plate has a constant velocity and moves in the buoyancy force *** principal walls of the channel are heated at uniform heat *** numerical analysis is accomplished by means of the commercial code *** effects of the wall emissivity,the minimum channel spacing,the converging angle and the moving plate velocity are investigated and results in terms of air velocity and temperature fields inside the channel and wall temperature profiles,both of the moving and the heated plates,are *** numbers,both accounting and not for the radiative contribution to heat removal,are also presented.

In Italy,when building a new school,there are no regulatory or cultural references that consider recent regulations on energy savings and emissions reduction,key environmental considerations that have received increasing notice in society and new teaching methods needs to address these environmental concerns,especially as related to the built *** main goal of this paper is to outline qualitative and quantitative guidelines for building low-carbon kindergartens in *** guidelines will define a new building type for schools while also evaluating energy and environmental performance to create a structured and interdisciplinary support tool that can be used by designers during the preliminary phase of the design *** method starts from the detailed analysis of representative sustainable buildings to define new typological models,then several energy and environmental analyses follow to evaluate the new building type performance,and finally the guidelines are detailed following the environmental and technological system.

LOW-COST AND NON-INVASIVE ENERGY RECOVERY TECHNIQUES FOR PUBLIC RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS MADE WITH GREAT PANEL STRUCTURES IN ITALY

In Italy,a large stock of public housing was built during the 1970s and 1980s with industrialized/prefabricated *** buildings have envelopes characterized by the presence of many thermal bridges and low transmittance *** addition,they feature inefficient single heating systems in residential units and no cooling/ventilation *** a result,these buildings require urgent energy retrofitting actions,and it is therefore necessary to define procedures that will guarantee effective *** possible interventions must be compatible with building construction techniques as well as be minimally invasive and *** are only a limited number of technical solutions,considering that residents should not have to move out during the *** most Italian climatic zones,current interventions are usually linked to external insulation and window replacement,leading to an improvement in energy performance and comfort only during *** comfort conditions tend to worsen in summer months because seasonal temperatures tend to increase by a few ***,solutions should be proposed that will improve both summer and winter *** work proposes an energy recovery procedure applied to a representative building from the abovementioned period located in the Florence area and constructed with an industrialized system named the“tunnel system”(great panels structure).The procedure used in this study provides for the redevelopment of the envelope and the application of a simple mechanical ventilation system to achieve substantial energy savings and improved indoor comfort conditions.
