The advance of the Internet in the past decade has radically changed the way people communicate and col- laborate with each other. Physical distance is no more a barrier in online social networks, but cultural differences （at the individual, community, as well as societal levels） still govern human-human interactions and must be con- sidered and leveraged in the online world. The rapid deployment of high-speed lnternet allows humans to interact using a rich set of multimedia data such as texts, pictures, and videos. This position paper proposes to define a new research area called ＇connected multimedia＇, which is the study of a collection of research issues of the super-area social media that receive little attention in the literature. By connected multimedia, we mean the study of the social and technical interactions among users, multimedia data, and devices across cultures and explicitly exploiting the cultural differences. We justify why it is necessary to bring attention to this new research area and what benefits of this new research area may bring to the broader scientific research community and the humanity.

Ternary nanocomposites of CuxZnySnzS(x+y+z)are considered as an emerging potential candidate as electrode materials for energy storage devices due to the considerable interlayer spaces and tunnels in its crystal structures with excellent conducting ***,this nanocomposite used as anode material for li-ion battery has been reported,but there is lim让ed research on让s application in supercapacitors which is considered a complementary energy storage device to *** this work,flower-like Cu5Sn2S7/ZnS and pristine Cu5Sn2S7 nanocomposite were prepared via a facile hydrothermal *** electrochemical tests showed that the Cu5Sn2S7/ZnS nanocomposite exhibited better performance than pristine Cu5Zn2S7,suggesting that the existence of ZnS could significantly enhance the electrochemical performance of Cu5Sn2S7,with the good capacitance of 200 F/g at the current density of 1 A/*** 170 F/g was obtained at the large current density of 10 A/*** demonstrated energy density of 11.08 Wh/kg with power density 461 W/kg or 9.67 Wh/kg at power density of 4615 W/kg.

Palliative care service in patients with childhood cancer from a tertiary pediatric oncology center

Importance: Pediatric palliative care (PPC) has gained great attention in western countries, however data on Hong Kong children receiving PPC are limited. There are gaps in knowledge about the PPC needs in local children with cancer. Objective: To assess the current situation of PPC service of Hong Kong children with cancer. Methods: We performed a 10-year retrospective review in a tertiary pediatric oncology unit and studied the referral pattern, clinical characteristics and services provided. results: Totally 117 children were referred to PPC Team which constituted 65% deceased children within the study period. The commonest diagnoses were central nervous system tumour (32.5%), leukaemia (25.6%) and neuroblastoma (9.4%). Ninety-one percent of children were referred after the last relapse or stopping curative treatment. The median time of referral to death was 77 days (interquartile range (IQR): 35, 182)The median number of hospital admission after referral was 2 (IQR: 1, 5), with a median of 27 days total hospital stay (IQR: 10, 60). The reasons for admission were palliative chemotherapy (16.1%), pain control (12.1%) and platelet transfusion (11.2%). For the death episode, the median duration of hospital stay was 15 days (IQR: 2, 46). Most patients received oxygen (82.0%), intravenous fluid (81.2%) and intravenous analgesic (52.1%). A total of 111 (94.9%) children died in hospital, 15 had been admitted into intensive care unit (ICU) but only 5 (4.5%) died in ICU. Interpretation: Pain control and platelet transfusion were common reasons of readmission. Death in ICU and at home was uncommon in Hong Kong situation.

以第一周期为8.57s的某超限高层框架-核心筒建筑结构为研究对象,选取7条实际长周期主余震序列型地震动,并与单主震地震动一起作为输入样本,通过有限元软件PERFORM-3D对结构进行非线性动力时程分析;着重从结构整体、楼层滞回耗能情况及构件材料损伤等反应量角度来研究主余震地震动对超限高层建筑结构抗震性能的影响。研究结果表明,相对单主震地震动,结构在主余震地震动作用下整体滞回耗能增幅最大达到31.34%,楼层滞回耗能增幅最大可达到45.71%;同时余震地震动作用会使结构中构件损伤逐步累积过渡,导致部分构件转变为严重损伤状态。因此,对于超限高层建筑结构,仅根据现行规范或超限高层建筑专项审查研究超限高层在单次主震地震动作用下的抗震能力并不能很好地评估结构的抗震性能,建议对超限高层建筑结构进行非线性动力时程分析时补充余震地震动作用的影响,从而全面、安全可靠地评估超限高层建筑结构的抗震性能。

Genetic susceptibility to metabolic associated fatty liver disease(MAFLD)is complex and poorly *** characterization of the genetic background of hepatic fat content would provide insights into disease etiology and causality of risk *** performed genome-wide association study(GWAS)on two noninvasive definitions of hepatic fat content:magnetic resonance imaging proton density fat fraction(MRI-PDFF)in 16,050 participants and fatty liver index(Fli)in 388,701 participants from the United Kingdom(UK)Biobank(UKBB).Heritability,genetic overlap,and similarity between hepatic fat content phenotypes were analyzed,and replicated in 10,398 participants from the University Medical Center Groningen(UMCG)Genetics lifelines Initiative(UGli).Meta-analysis of GWASs of MRI-PDFF in UKBB revealed five statistically significant loci,including two novel genomic loci harboring CREB3L1(rs72910057-T,P=5.40E−09)and GCM1(rs1491489378-T,P=3.16E−09),respectively,as well as three previously reported loci:PNPLA3,TM6SF2,and *** of Fli in UKBB identified 196 genome-wide significant loci,of which 49 were replicated in UGli,with top signals in ZPR1(P=3.35E−13)and FTO(P=2.11E−09).Statistically significant genetic correlation(rg)between MRI-PDFF(UKBB)and Fli(UGli)GWAS results was found(rg=0.5276,P=1.45E−03).Novel MRI-PDFF genetic signals(CREB3L1 and GCM1)were replicated in the Fli *** identified two novel genes for MRI-PDFF and 49 replicable loci for *** a difference in hepatic fat content assessment between MRI-PDFF and Fli,a substantial similar genetic architecture was *** is identified as an easy and reliable approach to study hepatic fat content at the population level.

2008年M_W7.9汶川地震导致龙门山断裂发生强烈地壳变形,同时引发的巨量同震滑坡加速了该地区的地表剥蚀和河流侵蚀.然而,目前尚缺少系统的数据定量研究滑坡物质的运移以及河流侵蚀速率随时间的演化规律,这些对理解龙门山前缘物质的再分配以及强震对活动造山带地形塑造的作用至关重要.为此,本研究在汶川地震后的6年间,对震区沱江上游3条支流湔江、石亭江、绵远河流域进行了多期次的定点现代河沙采样.通过系统测量河沙中的石英10Be浓度,并与震前已发表的数据进行对比,发现如下基本特点:(1)震后河沙10 Be浓度均有明显降低,表明同震滑坡物质对河沙的稀释作用;(2)震后河流对河沙的运移量增加为震前的1.3~18.5倍,因此震后龙门山地区侵蚀速率短期显著增加;(3)初步估计得到汶川地震产生的滑坡物质被完全运移出造山带所需要的时间至少为100~4000年,接近龙门山地区强震复发周期;(4)震间和同震产生的构造变形和地表剥蚀在空间上具有互补性.考虑到地表剥蚀引起的地壳均衡反弹效应,认为类似汶川地震的强震有利于龙门山的隆升.认识震前、震时和震后的地壳变形及侵蚀过程有助于更好地理解单次强震事件对高原边界龙门山地形演化的作用.

Quality standardization of complementary medicine is fundamental for industry and practice as it underpins the quality,safety and efficacy of Chinese herbal *** herbal standardizations are often based on the quantitative analysis of a single compound,which may not reflect the total characteristic,bioactive and toxic nature of the herbs or ***,there is a need to establish an internationally recognized methodology for quality standardization of Chinese herbal *** analytical methods reviewed in this article are pharmacognosy,TLC,HPLC,LCMS,CE and *** article also covers the developments and applications of these methods in quality *** advances show that a combination of these methods creates an overall chemical profile of each *** is supported by results reviewed in this article and obtained in our laboratory tests on medicinal herbs including Hypericum perforatum,Morinda officinalis and Centella *** variations in active components have been observed between herbal samples and *** is proposed that the identification of active components,pharmacological activities and eventual clinical applications are required for a comprehensive quality standardization *** findings indicate that the combination of various chromatographic and chemometric methods will advance the methodology of quality standardization and enhance the overall confidence in herbal medicine for the health practitioner and the public.
