Background:Interleukin-28B (IL-28B) polymorphism is an important predictor for hepatitis C virus (HCV) treatment *** IL-28b genotypes also influence other nontreatment related clinical parameters is ***:Patients with HCV-related chronic liver diseases who attended our department during 2012-2014 were retrospectively *** single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of rs12979860 (IL-28B) were correlated with various clinical *** also compared these parameters in patients with and without overt diabetes to identify possible ***:A total of 115 patients were included (median age 48,range 15-76 years;70% males).Overall,43/115(37%) patients had chronic hepatitis,while the remaining 72/115 (63%) had *** most common IL-28B genotype was CC,which was found in 53% of patients (61/115),while the remaining 47% were nonCC [CT 42% (48/115) and T-r 5% (6/115)].Clinical and laboratory parameters like Hb,white blood cell (WBC),platelets,bilirubin,transaminases,and albumin were similar in the CC and nonCC *** diabetes mellitus was present in 22% (25/115) of *** with nonCC genotype had significantly higher prevalence of overt diabetes mellitus than patients with CC genotype (31% [17/54] versus 13% [8/61];p kely to have insulin resistance than CC homozygotes,and this finding may explain the higher prevalence of diabetes in non-CC ***,an IL-28B test may be useful in patients of HCV in order to determine their likelihood of developing diabetes mellitus.

Transient electronics are an emerging class of electronics with the unique characteristic to completely dissolve within a programmed period of time. Since no harmful byproducts are released, these electronics can be used in the human body as a diagnostic tool, for instance, or they can be used as environmentally friendly alternatives to existing electronics which disintegrate when exposed to water. Thus, the most crucial aspect of transient electronics is their ability to disintegrate in a practical manner and a review of the literature on this topic is essential for understanding the current capabilities of transient electronics and areas of future research. In the past, only partial dissolution of transient electronics was possible, however, total dissolution has been achieved with a recent discovery that silicon nanomembrane undergoes hydrolysis. The use of single- and multi-layered structures has also been explored as a way to extend the lifetime of the electronics. Analytical models have been developed to study the dissolution of various functional materials as well as the devices constructed from this set of functional materials and these models prove to be useful in the design of the transient electronics.

AIM To carry out randomized trial for evaluating effects of autologous bone marrow derived stem cell therapy(ABMSCT) through different *** Bone marrow aspirate was taken from the iliac crest of patients. Bone marrow mononuclear cells were separatedand purified using centrifugation. These cells were then infused in a total of 21 patients comprising three groups of 7 patients each. Cells were infused into the superior pancreaticoduodenal artery(Group Ⅰ), splenic artery(Group Ⅱ) and through the peripheral intravenous route(Group Ⅲ). Another group of 7 patients acted as controls and a sham procedure was carried out on them(Group Ⅳ). The cells were labelled with the PET tracer F18-FDG to see their homing and in vivo distribution. Data for clinical outcome was expressed as mean ± SE. All other data was expressed as mean ± SD. Baseline and post treatment data was compared at the end of six months, using paired t-test. Cases and controls data were analyzed using independent t-test. A probability(P) value of ken as the change or improvement in the following parameters:(1) C-peptide assay;(2) HOMA-IR and HOMA-B;(3) reduction in Insulin dose; subjects who showed reduction of insulin requirement of more than 50% from baseline requirement were regarded as responders; and(4) reduction in HbA 1c. RESULTS All the patients, after being advised for healthy lifestyle changes, were evaluated at periodical intervals and at the end of 6 mo. The changes in body weight, body mass index, waist circumference and percentage of body fat in all groups were not significantly different at the end of this period. The results of intra-group comparison before and after ABMSCT at the end of six months duration was as follows:(1) the area under C-peptide response curve was increased at the end of 6 mo however the difference remained statistically non-significant(P values for fasting C-peptide were 0.973, 0

Rapid screening and distribution of bioactive compounds in different parts of Berberis petiolaris using direct analysis in real time mass spectrometry

Berberis petiolaris Wall. ex G. Don, an unexplored medicinal plant belonging to the family Berberidaceae, is a large deciduous shrub found in Western Himalaya between 1800-3000 m. Chemical profiling of fruit, leaf, root and stem was done by direct analysis in real time mass spectrometry followed by multivariate analysis for discrimination among the plant parts. The bioactive compounds, including magnofiorine, berberine, jatrorrhizine, thalifendine/berberrubine, demethyleneberberine, reticuline, 8-oxoberberine, N-methyltetrahydroberberine, tetrahydropalmatine, tetrahydroberberine and palmatine, were identified by their exact mass measurement and the corresponding molecular formula of each compound. A comparative study of distribution pattern for all these bioactive alkaloids showed qualitative and quantitative variations in different parts of B. petiolaris. Principal component analysis clearly dis- criminated each part of B. petiolaris plant.

铝合金材料蜂窝夹层板结构具有在较低体重情况下的高硬度和高抗冲击性能力。近年来许多关于其在低应变率下冲击能量吸收性质的文献纷纷涌现,但是对于其在高应变率下的能量吸收力学性能的研究却非常贫乏。为了更好地研究铝合金材料蜂窝夹层板结构在高应变率下的能量吸收力学性能,其结构组成材料本身的动态力学性能必须首先得到充分研究。本文介绍和总结了铝合金材料AA-6061的两种热处理成品,T6与OA,在室温(24℃)与低温( -170℃)下的动态拉伸力学性能。在本研究中,霍普金生拉伸杆被应用,拉伸应变率为103每秒。

Artificial Neural Network (ANNs) techniques are recently indicating a lot of promises in the application of various micro-engineering fields. Such a use of ANNs for estimating the patch dimensions of a microstrip line feed rectangular microstrip patch antennas has been presented in this paper. An ANN model has been developed and tested for rectangular patch antenna design. The performance of the neural network has been compared with the simulated values obtained from IE3D EM Simulator. It transforms the data containing the dielectric constant (εr), thickness of the substrate (h), and antenna’s dominant-mode resonant frequency (fr) to the patch dimensions i.e length (L) and width (W) of the patch. The different variants of back propagation training algorithm of MLFFBP-ANN (Multilayer feed forward back propagation Artificial Neural Network) and RBF –ANN (Radial basis function Artificial Neural Network) has been used to implement the network model. The results obtained from artificial neural network when compared with simulation results, found satisfactory and also it is concluded that RBF network is more accurate and fast as compared to different variants of back propagation training algorithms of MLPFFBP. The ANNs results are more in agreement with the simulation findings. Neural network based estimation has the usual advantage of very fast and simultaneous response of all the outputs.

In today’s scenario mobile phones are not used only for messaging and talking, now we use mobiles also to access internet. For that we need higher data rates. Mobiles use wireless communication channel, which is very fast varying channel. To increase the data rate we have to utilize the full channel based on the channel condition. For that we have to estimate the channel condition and based on that we have to vary the data rate so that our communication system performance parameters (bit error rate, throughput) do not change beyond the accepted level. To increase the data rate we are also using the multi-carrier CDMA system in conjunction with the above described adaptive modulation. Adaptive modulation, in conjunction with MC-CDMA transmission system is very assuring way to increase data rate. In current scenario demand of very high data rates up to 100 Mbits/s may be achieved with this scheme. In this paper, adaptive modulation based M-ary QAM, M-PSk and M-ary CPM systems applied to a MC-CDMA system in Rayleigh fading channel environment have been investigated and BER performances of all these digital modulation schemes have been compared.

Some Group Runs Based Multivariate Control Charts for Monitoring the Process Mean Vector

In this article, we propose two control charts namely, the “Multivariate Group Runs’ (MV-GR-M)” and the “Multivariate Modified Group Runs’ (MV-MGR-M)” control charts, based on the multivariate normal processes, for monitoring the process mean vector. Methods to obtain the design parameters and operations of these control charts are discussed. Performances of the proposed charts are compared with some existing control charts. It is verified that, the proposed charts give a significant reduction in the out-of-control “Average Time to Signal” (ATS) in the zero state, as well in the steady state compared to the Hotelling’s T2 and the synthetic T2 control charts.

Consistent neglect of complex psychobiological processes involved in human health and diseases often leads to phar-macological discrepancies between preclinical and therapeutic observations. Numerous other pharmacological paradoxes arise from common practices of using dosing schedules in preclinical studies not identical to those in clinical studies. An Ayurveda centered holistic psychopharmacological strategy evolving from our efforts to identify plants potentially useful for preventing and combating illnesses and diseases could be a more rapid, rational, economically feasible, and realistic one for resolving such discrepancies and paradoxes. In this article, some observations made recently to experimentally very this conviction with the use of some well known medicinal plants are summarized and discussed in short. In addition, usefulness of the strategy for identifying edibles potentially useful for health care purposes, or for more objectively understanding “Ayurvedic biology” is pointed out.
