The objective of this study was to relate experimental pressure fluctuation behavior to the transition in mode of flow observed in fluidized dense phase pneumatic conveying of fly *** entropy and wavelet analysis were utilized to extract features of the flow *** db4 wavelet analysis of pulsating air pressure revealed that the flow mechanism of fly ash in a fluidized dense phase possessed non-steady characteristics associated with gradual aeration of dunes along the direction of *** of Shannon entropy values along the length of the pipeline were assessed to determine the location at which the flow converted from dense to dilute phase *** effects of conveying parameters and specific power consumption on Shannon entropy and variations of the local power consumption coefficient are discussed.

First, the characteristics of low-velocity conveying of particles having different hardness are experimentally investigated in a horizontal pipeline in terms of flow pattern and pressure drop to show that the slug flow can be classified into two types depending on the settling of particles along the pipeline, and the period is small for slug flow without the settled layer, which is called solitary slug flow. The pressure drop for soft particles is shown to be larger than that for hard particles. Then, experimental results are presented on horizontal fluidized-bed conveying of fine powders to show that air release from the top surface of the conveying channel is an imnortant factor for high mass flow rate of particles.

Bone is a dynamic structure and is k.own to respond to changes in the load over time, in accordance with Wolff’s law. It states that the bone changes its shape and internal architecture in response to stresses acting on it [1]. Therefore, any structural changes in the spine may lead to bone remodeling due to changes in the optimal stress pattern. The changes in apparent density and thick.ess of the endplates following discectomy of varying amounts were analyzed. The study design coupled a bone remodeling algorithm based on strain energy density theory of adaptive remodeling with an experimentally validated 3D ligamentous finite element model of the spine. The apparent density and thick.ess of the index level endplates decreased above and below the region of discectomy. On the other hand, these parameters showed increases at the remaining regions of the endplate. There were no correlations between the amount of nucleus removed and the average percentage changes in apparent density and thick.ess of endplate above and below the discectomy region. However, the average percentage changes in apparent density and thick.ess at endplate in the other region increased with increase in amount of nucleus removed. These predictions are in agreement with the clinical observations [2-6].

E-learning is the most promising venture in the entire world. During the COVID-19 lock.own, e-learning is successfully providing potential information to the students and researchers. In developing nations lik. India, with limited resources, e-learning tools and platforms provide a chance to mak. education available to middle and low income households. This paper gives insights about three different online services, namely Google Classroom,Zoom, and Microsoft Teams being used by three different educational institutions. We aim to analyze the efficiency and acceptability of e-learning tools among Indian students during the COVID-19 lock.own. The paper also aims to evaluate the impact of e-learning on the environment and public health during COVID-19 lock.own. It is found that e-learning has potential to reduce carbon emissions, which has beneficial impact on the environment. However, the mental health is impacted as e-learning may lead to self-isolation and reduction in academic achievements that may lead to anxiety and mental depression. Due to usage of electronic devices for learning, the eyes and neck.muscles may be put in strain, having deleterious effects on physical health.

AIM: To compare the postoperative mechanical alignment achieved after total k.ee arthroplasty(Tk.) using computer tomography(CT) based patient specific block.(PSB) to conventional instruments(CI).METHODS: Total 80 k.ees were included in the study, with 40 k.ees in both the groups operated using PSB and CI. All the k.ees were performed by a single surgeon using the same cruciate sacrificing implants. In our study we used CT based PSB to compare with CI. Postoperative mechanical femoro-tibial angle(MFT angle) was measured on long leg x-rays using picture archiving and communication system(PACS). We compared mechanical alignment achieved using PSB and CI in Tk. using statistical ***: The PSB group(group 1) included 17 females and seven males while in CI group(group 2) there were 15 females and eight males. The mean age of patients in group 1 was 60.5 years and in group 2 it was 60.2 years. The mean postoperative MFT angle measured on long-leg radiographs in group 1 was 178.23°(SD = 2.67°, range: 171.9° to 182.5°) while in group 2, the mean MFT angle was 175.73°(SD = 3.62°, range: 166.0° to 179.8°). There was significant improvement in postoperative mechanical alignment(P value = 0.001), in PSB group compared to CI. Number of outliers were also found to be less in group operated with PSB(7 k.ee) compared to those operated with CI(17 k.ee).CONCLUSION: PSB improve mechanical alignment after total k.ee arthroplasty, compared to CI. This may lead to lower rates of revision in the PSB based Tk. as compared to the conventional instrumentation.

The management of multiple complicated injured patients remains a great challenge despite advance- ments in modern medical care. We present a rare case of bilateral unstable pelvic fractures associated with bilateral segmental femoral shaft fractures. We have proposed a mechanism of such complex injury pattern and discussed the plan of management. We believe that a timely and aggressive surgical inter- vention to fix all the major fractures soon after medically stabilizing the patient helped our patient tc overcome these serious and lethal injuries. It is necessary to establish an optimal protocol for man- agement of such complex fractures by conducting prospective and multicentric studies in the future.

Alzheimer’s disease International (ADI) estimates that there are currently 30 million people with dementia in the world. The main objective was to perform meta-analysis of studies of CSF tau and Amyloid β42 (Aβ42) levels in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) patients and controls. In the present study MEDLINE was reviewed from 1995 to 2009, supplemented by citation analysis from retrieved articles to select case control studies. Descriptive statistics showed that median effect size (raw mean difference) of CSF tau and Aβ42 levels were 301 pg/ml (Range: 22 to 614 pg/ml) and –352 pg/ml (Range: –969 to 203 pg/ml) respectively. The pooled effect size CSF tau and Aβ42 was 289.14 pg/ml (95% CI 253.278 to 325.013 pg/ml) and –329.02 pg/ml (95% CI –387.740 to –270.445 pg/ml) respectively. Heterogeneity in effect size of selected studies was present for both parameters (CSF tau: Q statistics = 1816.596, DF = 40, P = 0.000 and CSF Aβ42: Q-statistics = 1259.358, DF = 24, p 42 levels in AD and controls may be considered as potential biomark.r along with the clinical phenotype to perform them during high quality diagnostic testing in dementia.

Cardioprotective activity of alcoholic extract of Tinospora cordifolia (Willd.) Miers in calcium chloride-induced cardiac arrhythmia in rats

The present study investigated the antiarrhythmic activity of alcoholic extract of Tinospora cordifolia （T. cordifolia） in CaCl2 induced arrhythmia. CaCl2 （25 mg/k.） was administered by intravenous infusion （iv） to produce arrhythmia in rats. The animals were then treated with T. cordifolia extract （150, 250, and 450 mg/k.） and verapamil （5 mg/k.,iv）. Lead II electrocardiogram was monitored. Plasma calcium, sodium and potassium levels were measured. In CaCl2 induced arrhythmia, heart rate was decreased by 41.10%, T. cordifolia at 150, 300, and 450 mg/k. decreased the heart rate by 26.30%, 29.16%, and 38.29%, respectively, and verapamil reduced the heart rate by 9.70% compared to the normal group. The PQRST waves were normalized and atrial and ventricular fibrillation was controlled in rats treated with verapamil and T. cordifolia. CaCl2 increased calcium and sodium levels and decreased potassium levels in blood. T. cordifolia dose-dependently decreased calcium and sodium levels and increased potassium levels. Hence, T. cordifolia can be used in antiarrhythmic clinical settings and beneficial in atrial and ventricular fibrillation and flutter and may be indicated in ventricular tachyarrhythmia.
