Deficiency of vitamin-E or tocopherol causes neurological and cardiovascular disorders in humans. Though maize kernel is rich in total tocopherol, the level of α-tocopherol possessing the highest vitamin-E activity is low. Mutant allele of ZmVTE4 with deletion of 7 bp and 118 bp (0/0: most favorable haplotype) in 5′UTR and promoter region, respectively significantly enhances α-tocopherol in maize kernel than wild type haplotype (7/118).α- tocopherol estimation in 15 diverse inbreds revealed that mean α-/γ-tocopherol and α-/ total-tocopherol was much higher in genotypes with favorable haplotype (1.51 and 0.41) than unfavorable class (0.19 and 0.13), respectively. However even within favorable class,α- tocopherol ranged from 4.76 to 30.07 μg g 1. Sequence analysis of part of 5′UTR and promoter of ZmVTE4 among the genotypes with favorable haplotype revealed 14 SNPs (SNP1 to SNP14) and eight InDels (InDel1 to InDel8). SNP7 at 606 bp (G to A), and InDels viz., InDel1 (27 bp), InDel4 (27 bp) and InDel8 (14 bp) differentiated low and high α-tocopherol accumulating inbreds with favorable haplotype. Hence the newly identified SNP and InDels in addition to the already reported InDels can be useful in selection of favorable genotypes with higher α-tocopherol in maize.

The perception of the visual world through basic building blocks, such as cubes, spheres, and cones gives human beings a parsimonious understanding of the visual world. Thus, efforts to find primitive-based geometric interpretations of visual data date back to 1970 s studies of visual media. However, due to the difficulty of primitive fitting in the pre-deep learning age, this research approach faded from the main stage and the vision community turned primarily to semantic image understanding. In this paper, we revisit the classical problem of building geometric interpretations of images, using supervised deep learning tools. We build a framework to detect primitives from images in a layered manner by modifying the YOLO network an RNN with a novel loss function is then used to equip this network with the capability to predict primitives with a variable number of parameters. We compare our pipeline to traditional and other baseline learning methods, demonstrating that our layered detection model has higher accuracy and performs better reconstruction.

Chronic granulomatous disease(CGD)is an inherited defect of phagocyte function due to defective NADPH *** with CGD are not able to effectively clear the infections because of the defect in the phagocyte production of oxygen free radicals and are prone to recurrent bacterial and fungal *** complications are also noted in CGD such as colitis,non-infective granulomas causing gastrointestinal or urinary tract obstruction,hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis,and *** on toll-like receptor pathways and neutrophil extracellular traps in CGD have shed light on the role of NADPH oxidase in the innate immunity and pathogenesis of infections in *** reports also indicate a reduction of memory B cells and defective production of functional antibodies in *** the exact mechanisms for non-infective inflammatory complications in CGD are not yet clear,studies on efferocytosis and defective autophagy with inflammasome activation have made a substantial contribution to our understanding of the pathogenesis of inflammation in *** also discuss the clinical and molecular features of p40phox defects and a newer genetic defect,*** phenotypes of X-linked carriers of CYBB are also discussed.

A novel device structure for thermally activated delayed fluorescence(TADF)top emission organic light-emitting diodes(TEOLEDs)that improves the viewing angle characteristics and reduces the efficiency roll-off is ***,we describe the design and fabrication of a cavity-suppressing electrode(CSE),Ag(12 nm)/WO_(3)(65 nm)/Ag(12 nm)that can be used as a transparent *** the TADF-TEOLED fabricated using the CSE exhibits higher external quantum efficiency(EQE)and improved angular dependency than the device fabricated using the microcavity-based Ag electrode,it suffers from low color purity and severe efficiency *** drawbacks can be reduced by using an optimized multi-quantum well emissive layer(MQW EML).The CSE-based TADF-TEOLED with an MQW EML fabricated herein exhibits a high EQE(18.05%),high color purity(full width at half maximum~59 nm),reduced efficiency roll-off(~46%at 1000 cd m^(−2)),and low angular *** improvements can be attributed to the synergistic effect of the CSE and MQW *** optimized transparent CSE improves charge injection and light outcoupling with low angular dependence,and the MQW EML effectively confines charges and excitons,thereby improving the color purity and EQE *** proposed approach facilitates the optimization of multiple output characteristics of TEOLEDs for future display applications.

Alzheimer’s disease(AD)is one of the most common forms of *** dysfunction and memory loss are the two main clinical symptoms of *** melanogaster models of AD,which are based on overexpression of human amyloidβ(Aβ)or human tau(hTau)protein,have been used to study the mechanism underlying AD and to screen potential therapeutic *** that are currently available for AD provide only symptomatic *** unmet medical needs exists to slow,stop,or reverse the progression of ***(TQ)is an active ingredient isolated from Nigella sativa(NS)and possesses various pharmacological activities,and it is also a potential neuropharmacological *** current study was performed to investigate the effect of dietary administration of TQ at concentrations of 12.5μM and 25μM for 15 and 30 days on biochemical and behavioral parameters,gene,and protein expression of hTau,using Drosophila models of *** Drosophila models exhibiting pan-neuronal and eye-specific expression of hTau were generated using the GAL4/UAS *** with TQ at both concentrations resulted in a significant increase in behavioral activity,a significant reduction in the amount of reactive oxygen species(ROS),and restoration of depleted superoxide dismutase(SOD)and acetylcholine esterase(AChE)activities.A significant decrease in gene and protein expression of hTau was also observed at the molecular level for both concentrations of ***,TQ has the potential to be investigated as a potential therapeutic phytochemical for the treatment of AD in future studies.

Yttrium(Y)and cerium(Ce)co-doped ZnO nanoparticles(NPs)were synthesized via the simple sol-gel auto-combustion *** effect of Ce and Y doping on the structure,morphology,optical,Zeta potential,and photocatalytic activities of ZnO NPs was examined by Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)spectrometer,X-ray diffraction(XRD),transmission electron microscope(TEM),UV-vis spectrophotometer,and Zetasizer *** data show that the fabricated samples crystallize into a hexagonal wurtzite *** dopants Y and Ce affect the crystal structure of ZnO *** crystallite size is reduced with the co-doping *** results confirm the nano-sized particles of the prepared *** increase in optical bandgap values from 3.19 eV for x=0.0 to 3.22,3.24,and 3.25 eV for x=0.01,0.03,and 0.05 samples was confirmed by UV-Vis spectroscopy analysis.Y and Ce co-doped ZnO nanoparticles show significant alteration of zeta potential and photocatalytic properties compared to undoped ZnO ***,undoped ZnO shows better stability in deionized water as compared to Ce-Y doped ZnO NPs and exhibits high photocatalytic activity(degradation rate,97.92%)for methyl orange(MO)degradation.
